A visual compass for robot soccer

Hand gesture recognition system(FYP REPORT)
This document is a final year project report submitted by three students - Afnan Ur Rehman, Haseeb Anser Iqbal, and Anwaar Ul Haq - for their bachelor's degree in computer science. The report describes the development of a hand gesture recognition system using computer vision and machine learning techniques. Key aspects of the project include image acquisition using a webcam, preprocessing the images using techniques like filtering and noise removal, detecting and cropping the hand region, extracting HU moments features, training a classifier on sample gesture images, and classifying new images using KNN. The system is also able to translate recognized gestures to speech using text-to-speech.

Computer Vision (CV) based Raspberry Pi robot vehicle
Computer Vision based robotic guidance system have been developed and deployed in this project. The project initiated with the literature review of the research papers in the field of robotic guidance. The information extracted have been used to develop an in-house Computer Vision (CV) based robotic guidance system. Python 3.5 programming language has been used with Spyder3 IDE to develop the algorithm of robotic guidance system, as well as to control the robotic hardware. Raspberry Pi 4B 4GB single board computer is used to execute the guidance system to control a robotic vehicle with the onboard camera feedback. V-rep robot simulation software is used to simulate the robotic guidance system algorithm in virtual robot before it is deployed to the physical robot. The virtual robot used is also developed in-house with Autodesk Inventor CAD software with all the parameters of the physical robot. The robotic guidance system performances are analysed, potential use of the robotic guidance system evaluated and documented. At the end, this report concluded with the future improvement options of the developed robotic guidance system.

This document summarizes the findings from vision-based geometric registration and tracking benchmarking competitions held at ISMAR 2015 in Fukuoka, Japan. Key findings include: simplifying the benchmarking process for practical competitions can introduce biases; rules and regulations need to be clearly explained; difficulty levels need careful adjustment; and projection error of virtual objects is an effective benchmarking indicator but submissions were ambiguously specified. The competitions provided valuable feedback for revising the ISO/IEC NP 18520 benchmarking standard.
