EXCEPTIONAL LEADERSHIP
National Impact
• LRL Titles Day Presentation (2012): I spoke at LRL Titles Day to share how the therapies Lilly has
brought to market have impacted my life so that the research and lab individuals celebrating
promotion could have insight to how important their role is to patients’ lives like mine. I was honored
to share my story of this experience in the 1st
area Humalog newsletter.
**Feedback from peers, management, and upper management was incredible! I received calls from
Keith Johns, John Lechleiter, Dave Noesges and Stephanie Shelly as well as many executive reps
from across the region. Dave Noesges shared that “Stacy is truly what the diabetes business unit
aspires to be!”
Area Impact
• Culture Champ Role (2012): Produce and publish the Menu of Ideas for Motivation and Inspiration
Sent monthly notes of inspiration and appreciation to peers and/or their spouse/partner. I implemented
the Go Giver book in a workshop with a goal exercise, resulting in sending peers a vision board of
what those commitments were so that they could continue to work towards them through the end of
the selling. Led start/stop/continue discussion with peers at beginning and end of year to help Greg be
the best coach he can be and team engagement scores based on Survey have increased. Motivational
Monday messages. Also planning our Lilly Day of Service. (2011) Share Monday messages with
team. Executive representatives needed help with teambuilding so I worked with them around
implementing the Speed of Trust and held a workshop at our team meeting that strongly connected
our trust, based on peer feedback. Recognize birthday, anniversary milestones. Send notes of
appreciation to spouses/partners of peers. Led start/stop/continue discussion with peers.
District Impact
• Hosted District Meeting in Sioux Falls(2012, 2011): Assisted with selection of hotel, teambuilding
activities, and bringing in local DIN educator, Mary Oyos, to share insights on how well our
programs work in clinics but also how to promote this resource for more clinics, providers, and
patients. **Feedback from peers, manager, and DIN Educator was very positive: Mary Oyos said,
“There is something special about Stacy and how she represents Lilly and the need to help patients
and she delivers that for me, I know I can count on her when it comes to my patients with diabetes.”
• Led meaningful discussion (2011): at regional meeting with district to discuss how small steps can
help our providers help their patients get comfortable and confident with starting and staying on
Humalog
• Hospital WIN in territory – Sanford has put Lilly back in the hospital (2010): Worked with Jeff
Dunham, hospital rep out of Montana, to meet with appropriate people within Sanford hospital to
finally get Lilly back in the hospital with NPH and Regular. NO Lilly products have been in Sanford
for 15 years and after the successful implementation and proving ourselves as a company committed
to helping patients with diabetes, we hope to work to get Humalog into the hospital soon!
• (2009): Presented “A Day in the Life” to team, as well as Edrice Simmons, Regional Director, at
district meeting and discussion.
• Pilot and Implement Journey in Caring (2008): Worked with my peer, Kennedy Dean, to pilot and
implement new Journey in Caring in our territory with DIN Educator, Mary Oyos.
ENGAGED EMPLOYEES
National Impact
• Partnership Award (2010): Nominated for Partnership Award with Jeff Dunham based on our success
within Sanford where only one partnership is recognized nationally for account executives and their
work within hospital and payer systems.
Area Impact
• Partnership Award (2012): Recognized at national meeting in Dallas with the Partnership award
because of my work with Jed Dalton, Endocrine, and Chad Gillespie, Focus, to get Humalog
cartridges into Avera hospital and Humalog into Sanford hospitals.
• Mentor relationships (2012): I have a mentor/mentee relationship with Denise Kelly. Denise is an
Executive Rep in Chicago and I reached out to her because I know she is a strong leader within our
region and I want to grow even stronger in my leadership roles. With her guidance I have
implemented the Lilly Diabetes Journey Awards Program with some of my key offices to set Lilly
apart. I also took her recommendation and am having a large MYD nurses gathering in Sioux Falls
the evening of November 14, National Diabetes Day, to help offices become more comfortable with
initiating Humalog therapy for their patients. I am excited to learn and grow with Denise through the
upcoming year.
• Patient Promise (2012): Something I shared with my peers around how a patient faces diabetes daily,
ways we should attempt to be empathetic for our customers and the patients they serve every day, in
hopes to continue to push forward with our CVM scores. I share my perspective often with peers
from my team as well as peers I have met at meetings, trainings, and other professional gatherings to
help them relate to the disease state of diabetes and truly understand what it means to live a full life
with this disease. I have been told countless times by peers, whether brand new to diabetes or serving
in this role for years, such as Brian McClellan, Executive Sales Rep, that I am so approachable and
make diabetes so relatable to them, helping them connect to their customers.
District Impact
• Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation(2012): Official board member of local JDRF chapter to raise
money locally for research for Type 1 Diabetes, dedicating hours of personal time for meetings,
planning and fundraisers for the upcoming year.
• Volunteer with Camp Gilbert 2011, 2010): Spent several days of vacation time as a camp counselor
for SD camp for kids with Type 1 diabetes to serve as a positive role model and example for young
teens living with diabetes and connect on a deeper level with 4 of my top providers that also volunteer
their time for this rewarding experience and have continued to develop relationships with these
providers as well as their RNs, CDEs, and staff, thanks to my commitment to the camp.
• (2009): Attended training at Miami Diabetes Instituting for initiating insulin.
• MVP at ID School (2008): Recognized because of my desire to help everyone in class understand
diabetes and our crucial role as reps to help providers help more patients! My peers shared throughout
the training how approachable I am and how I helped them understand the disease and how to stay
engaged!
• (2008): My engagement and confidence as a patient of Dr. Allard, one of my top endocrinologists,
was the reason he recommended me to Lilly for this position.
POSITIVE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCES
Area Impact
• Sanford Health Plan Win (2012): I worked diligently with local group of endocrinologists at Sanford
around Tradjenta, which was not an option on their biggest health plan, Sanford Health Plan. I took
action by asking Dr. Allard to initiate the medical request to have Tradjenta in the hospital as an
option for patients based on his needs for something safer for that specific patient. With his leadership
and support it was quickly added to the hospital and pulling that through with the family practitioners
and working closely with Karen Bielenberg, Account Manager, as well as Amanda Bemmels and
Brian Ward, Account Executive with BI, we were thrilled to hear Sanford Health plan would have it
on at parity as of Sept. 1, 2012! Sanford impacts the states of ND, SD, MN, and IA at this time and is
my fastest growing plan. BI and Lilly AEs, as well as Endocrine and Focus representatives look to me
to find local answers.
District Impact
• Panelist at Local Diabetes Symposium (2012): My top endocrinology group asked me to be on a
panel to share how to successfully live with diabetes at their Diabetes Symposium with over 150
patients because “she embodies living with diabetes, not just having it but truly living with it!”
• Knowledge and Empathy is Valued (2008-2012): Providers including several endocrinologists, CDEs,
and internal med doctors such as Olegario, openly ask me what to do with patients at various stages
of the disease, how to talk to patients, what matters to patients and how to better serve them because
they know I truly get it! This is, in my opinion, the greatest honor of my role as a representative!
• Speaker Development (2010): Brandy Smith, NP, in largest endocrinologist office, felt compelled to
speak for Lilly because of the value I brought to her and her patients and said this is the reason she
would only commit to Lilly.
• Access (2009): Dr. Allard, 1 of top 3 endocrinologists in my territory, shared with me that unlike
other reps, I do not need to check in with the front, I am family and should come on back. Since clinic
has access only to those who bring a speaker with lunch in 2012, he informed me I am only 1 of 2
reps that are allowed anytime.
