Mission Statement
“We are a parish dedicated to living and spreading the power of the
Eucharist and the Joy of the Gospel. We are dedicated to parish-
wide formation as intentional disciples so that all will be equipped to
fulfill Christ’s Great Commission in our homes, Church, and world:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” –
Matthew 28:19-20
Why CTK?
• I am a current communications intern there
• I think they do a lot of things well
• But, they have lot more to go
•Spoke with Katie Sheppard, Director of Advancement
Facebook

• Use this to pass messages along to followers
• Facebook is popular, so CTK uses it to reach as many people as possible
• Before Facebook, they did a lot more print announcements
Twitter/Instagram

• New to CTK and just getting it off the ground
• Using these to reach younger generation
• Use this for “Faith Formation” and announcements
Website/Bulletins

• Recently re-done and regularly updated
• Used for everything – reaching out to others
• Bulletins are twice a week and keep people in the loop
Mobile Application
• Launched in November 2017
• Pray, Find, Donate, Learn, Push
Notifications
• Trying to modernize with media
• Only used website before app
Videos
• Weekly Homily
• Campaign Video - https://cathedralctk.org/campaign-video
• Interviews
• Trying to modernize again and get across strong messages
• Replaced just posting words on social media – now have videos to compliment
those
• Could be used even more
Analytics
• Facebook used the most for social media – 2,700 likes
• App – 100 users
• Website – used more after update
• Starting to use bitly links to track link clicks
Structure
• CTK has a Director of Advancement – my boss
• Not very good with new media so hired two interns
• We do some social media
• Deacon Tim does most of the Social Media but he is older and doesn’t
understand Instagram or twitter really
Effectiveness
• Relatively effective at accomplishing mission
• Could do more with new media for Faith Formation
• Has addressed needs of a younger parish to get connected online
Overall
Strengths
◦ Branching out to new media sources
◦ Trying to connect to all people/age
groups in the Parish
◦ Great graphic designer who makes
website/bulletin graphics appealing
◦ Giving multiple channels for
information
◦ Keep up the great video work!
Weaknesses
◦ Inconsistent
◦ Great ideas but not a lot of follow-
through
◦ Need to be utilizing social media
outlets other than Facebook more
◦ Try branching out even further to
other new media sites
Recommendations
• Use scheduled posts to stay consistent on social media
• Keep your interns hard at work
• More Faith Formation on all mediums
• Start exploring some additional new media outlets
• Specifically podcasts, blogs, and Twitter/Instagram
