Critical Mass Theory
The Critical Mass Theory explains how new technology
like telephones and watches become more useful as
more people use them. In fact this theory explains how
when a lot of people have something new and more
technological, everyone wants it too. It goes from the use
of phones to watches and many more technological items.
Currently for example we can find Samsung and IPhone
everywhere and it’s crazy how this is spreading all around
the world.
With the use of these kind of technology today, I will
explain how this is going to influence our future.
Phones
• Phones are one of the most popular electronic devices
and probably the one that get more sold.
• Since the beginning, there have been a lot of changes
in different phones and their software. I think that in
2026 phones are going to be very slim and transparent
and they are going to last an year without being
charged.
Phones
• Another aspect of the future phones is going to be their
function.
• Thanks to this electronic devices, in 2026 we are going to
be able to reproduce in 3D everything we want. Like
skylines or videos.
• In addition with the future phones we are going to be able
to project the images of people and friends while doing
Skype or Face Time.
Watches
• Another common technological device is characterized
by the watches. They are not only used anymore for
looking at the time but they have been substituting
even phones.
• In 2026 the new watches are going to show the time on
one side of the watch, while on the other side, they are
going to project a phone screen.
Watches
• With these kind of watches we are going to be able to
know the time of the day and we are not going to have
the need to bring our phones around. They are
definitely going to substitute the normal phones
existing.
Roger’s Diffusion of
Innovations
The Diffusion of Innovations theory, also known as
Diffusion theory explains how, why and in how long
technology and concepts spread around the world
through different communication channels.
This theory is characterized by a 5-steps that explain the
decision-making process, and they are: knowledge,
persuasion, Decision, implementation, confirmation.
In communication technology, the process of decision-
making it’s very important and through the development of
education classrooms and vehicles I will try to
demonstrate it.
Education
• Education has a very important role in our lives and
thanks to technology, it is changing and improving
everyday.
• Thanks to the development of technology in 2026 the
normal classroom that we are used to see now are not
going to be here anymore. They are going to be
substituted by virtual classrooms in which there is not
going to be any personal relationship with professors
and students.
Education
• Everything is going to be done at home on a computer
or tablet. The personal electronic devices are going to
be primary sources for the students and the professors.
• There is not going to be the need to go to school and
get out of home because the students are going to be
able to talk to and see the professor on their electronic
devices.
Vehicles
• Another important piece of equipment that is going to
spread all around the world thanks to technological
innovation is characterized by vehicles.
• In 2026 the new vehicles are going to have a whole
new design. They are going to be bigger than the ones
that we see around now and they are not going to emit
any noise while they are moving.
Vehicles
• These new cars are going to have a lot of grate
aspects. For example:
• They are going to be able to move without a driver.
• They are going to recognize the owner of the car by
the voice, and they are not going to need any kind of
key.
• In addition, the new seats are going to be comfy
easy-chairs that are going to make every ride more
enjoyable.
• Every car is going to have at least four seats that are
going to be placed by two, facing each other.
However they are going to have a lot of room for the
passengers’ legs in between the four seats.
Vehicles
Uses and gratifications theory
The Uses and Gratifications approach gives an
explanation of how people use technology. Thanks to this
approach we can see how the users try to make use of
their electronic devices to satisfy their needs. This theory
concentrates on the origins of the needs, socially and
psychologically, that creates expectations of sources and
mass media.
With the use of future medical care, I’m going to explain
how important technology is going to be in 2026 and how
we can relate this theory to it.
Medical Care
• Medical care it’s a very important aspect of our lives
and it can be definitely influenced and improved by the
use of technology.
• In 2026 the doctors and the people who work in the
medical care department are going to be have a better
access to more data. In addition they are going to be
able to use more technological devices also in the
workplace.
Medical Care
• Another important improvement for the medical care is
going to be the surgery process.
• The doctors are going to be able to operate on the
patients without even touching them. The doctors are
going to have an electronic device, projecting the body
parts of the patients. By only touching at the inflamed
or injured body part, the doctors are going to cure the
patients.
