The main design concept is based around a contemporary view of Italian
landscape. This will be done by drawing from the colors of natural stone,
vineyards, and other traditional materials of Italy and combining them
with a modern/contemporary design to fuse the traditions of Italian
dining with an updated aesthetic.
Concept Statement: Functional Goals:
1) Open floor plan with a variety of focal points to provide ENTERTAINMENT.
2) Increase PRODUCTIVITY by encouraging guests to stay longer.
3) ORGANIZE the restaurant to accomodate for the variety of guests attending.
4) Provide UNIQUE functions for each space by allowing different parts of the
restaurant to be open at different time.
5) Maximize CIRCULATION to increase guests comfortability and staff members
productivity.
Aesthetic Goals:
1) Keep a NATURAL material palette throughout inspired by the stone found
throughout Italy.
2) Draw COLOR from the vineyards and wines produced in Italy to add pops
throughout the space.
3) Use a contemporary/modern design with traditional materials to create a
COMBINED AESTHETIC.
4) Use large windows a unique features to bring LIGHT into the space and highlight
the design features.
5) Keep the aesthetics radiant and luminous to create an INVITING atmostphere.
Sustainability Goals:
1) Use LOCAL INGREDIENTS to benefit businesses and minimize energy
use.
2) Use ENERGY SAVING appliances and LED lights to minimize energy
consumption.
3) Increase WATER EFFICIENCY by using Kohler appliances and water
saving equipment.
4) MATERIALS of finishes and furniture pieces will be made of RECYCLED
content or be able to be recycled at the end of their lifespan.
5) Use finishes with a low VOC’s to increase INDOOR AIR QUAILTY and
keep air circulation moving throughout the space.

Quiet Section
The lounge and bar sections of Magari are open the longest; one of the first areas to
open and the last area to close. The lounge features a low comfortable seating area in the
center, with bar height table around the perimeter. The bar features seventeen seating
options with a self-illuminated wall as a focal point.
The lunch portion of the dining is the only main seating area open during lunch hours. For
people looking for a quick bite to eat, it features bar height tables, and window into the
kitchen so guests can see the final preperations of their food.
The main dining section of the restaurant opens during dinner hours, when it’s expected to
get most busy. It features a combination of seating options including booths, stand alone
center tables, and longer tables along the wall.
The quiet section is also not open until dinner hours as well, but is meant for larger parties
that may disturb other guests with noise. There are small bathrooms located right in front
of the private section, making it possible to be rented out for special occasions.
