This document evaluates the pros and cons of a final film idea. It discusses how using a wooded setting would appeal to audiences by creating an eerie atmosphere for the thriller genre. However, filming in the woods at night could present safety issues. Additionally, having a female-led cast may limit appeal to male audiences, though it could provide "visual pleasure." Overall, the document concludes the idea has potential for success if the discussed challenges are addressed during planning and production.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2. After formulating and discussing our final idea I have found
that there are a number of pros and cons to our plan,
which should be addressed and analysed in order to seek
out potential improvements as well as to locate the
strengths and successes of our final idea.
It is important to conduct this evaluation as this will allow
us to analyse the success of our idea in terms of: audience
appeal and production practicality.
Introduction
3. The use of the woods as our main setting could be seen as
pro of our idea. This is because the woods would make for
an ideally eerie setting, this will help us to meet with the
thriller conventions, in particularly inciting fear within the
audience. This is a pro as this will help to both portray the
genre of our piece as well as to cause the audience
pleasure through the thrill of being scared by the rather
dark and naturally atmospheric ambiance that can be
found within our chosen setting. Therefore, in terms of
appealing to our audience it can be said that this will be
fulfilled.
Pros
4. Also our audience will gain pleasure through the use of
characters that are relatable in age and interests. This will
be accomplished through the use of teenagers as the
leading characters within our piece. this age range of 15
and above will also be the targeted age of our audience
and will increase the appeal as our audience may be
enticed by the actions and representations of people
similar to their age. Therefore, also appealing in this way,
by crafting our conventions and features to purposefully
match our targeted audience.
5. However, in terms of production I believe that our idea may
have some cons, this is because although the woods make for an
ideally conventional setting, due to the isolated and eerie
atmosphere. Although the isolation will mean that we will not
disturb the public during this stage this may raise some safety
precautions. For example if we were to film during the dark we
may get lost or be susceptible to danger, as we will be alone and
possess expensive filming equipment. Therefore, in order to
ensure our safety when using this setting we should perhaps
only film during daylight hours and make sure that our location is
known by others in case we are in need of help, for example our
parents.
Cons
6. Also another con may be the similarity in our idea in
comparison to already established thriller films, for
example The Blair Witch Project. This is because as
this was our inspiration the user of the woods and
characters similar in age could be recognized as
familiar and seen as unoriginal by the audience.
However, although this may be seen as slightly
unoriginal this could be tackled through the use of a
twist in order to surprise and further enticing the
audience into our piece.
7. Also this use of the development or reconstruction of already
established ideas meets with the Christian Metz's Four Stage
Theory, these being experimental, classical, parody and
deconstruction. This idea therefore links to the classical and
experimental stages, as although we are applying classically
conventional ideas to our piece, by using purposefully eerie
settings, like the woods, and vulnerable characters, like 3 female
students, we will also be challenging and changing these
conventions, for example by making the threat a female, or
portraying the characters as strong and willing to fight back,
which goes against the weak stereotype of females, as well as
their passive role within film as our female actors will become
the protagonists.
8. However, this focus upon female protagonists may mean that
males are less likely to watch the film as it would be more
difficult to relate to an all female cast. However, it could be
argued that for a heterosexual audience this may not apply, as a
male audience may find pleasure in following the life of a female
character. This links to Laura Mulvey's Men's Gaze Theory, this
being that females are within films solely for the purpose of
being a visual pleasure to males. However, although elements of
this may apply we are also going against this idea that this is the
sole purpose for female characters as our cast be will used to
progress the plot and to communicate the narrative to the
audience, therefore somewhat challenging such a theory in this
way.
9. In Conclusion I believe that our final idea will be a success.
This is because our choice of an eerie and isolated setting,
as well as dark themes, such as murder and mystery, will
result in both intriguing and enticing the audience as
enigma codes will be applied within the piece as well as
successfully portraying the thriller genre through the use
of dark and atmospheric generic conventions. This in turn
will help to attract our targeted audience as the dark
themes and thriller genre will appeal to their personal likes
and film interests.
In Conclusion
10. Also, our choice of characters can be accomplished in
production as we have people who meet the
specifications of our required cast that are willing to
be involved within the film. However, in terms of
potential cons, our chosen setting may present
certain dangers at night, therefore we would have to
only film during daylight hours and ensure that an
adult (such as our parents) is aware of our location in
case we require aid. Therefore, when planning the
time of filming we will need to keep this in mind.
11. Also, our use of only females as the protagonists may
result in appealing more to a female audience rather than
both genders as this group would find the characters more
relatable, however it could be argued that males may find
visual pleasure in following a female character on screen
and therefore, may be convinced to commit to the entirety
of the film. Therefore, I believe that each issue can be
addressed and a successful thriller opening sequence
created.
