The idea will be explained by the teacher as she introduces
the topic which is the Role of hormones in male and female
reproductive system.
D. Abstraction Role of Hormones in Male and Female Reproductive
System
Hormones are chemical substances that act like messenger
molecule in the body and secreted by Endocrine Glands
directly into the blood. It plays a vital role in the individual’s
growth and development,metabolism,reproduction,mood, and
sexual functions.
Sex hormones are responsible for the driving puberty or
sexual development.
The Hypothalamus is a small region
of the brain,it is located at the base of
the brain near the pituitary
gland.Puberty begins when the
hypothalamus starts to release.
Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone
(GnRH) travels to the pituitary gland.
Pituitary Gland is a small gland
under the brain that produces hormones that control other
glands throughout the body.
The GnRH trigger the release of two Puberty hormones at the
pituitary gland-The Luteinizing hormone (LH) and the
Follicle stimulating hormones(FSH).They acts on the
primary reproductive organs, the Ovaries for females and
Testes for males.
Testosterone it regulates the development of the male’s sex
organs in the embryo. It also controls sex drive and secondary
sex characteristics at puberty.
Androgen responsible for the development of secondary
sexual characteristics in men including growth of facial and
body hair and voice change.
(LH) stimulates Estrogen and Progesterone production from
the ovary.
Estrogen controls sex drive and regulates the development of
female secondary characteristics at puberty.
Progesterone it controls the development of the
endometrium(mucus membrane lining the womb) during the
menstrual cycle and maintenance of uterus during the
pregnancy.
E. Application Name the Changes
The class will be divided into two groups. Each group will
have their own assigned activity. The first group will identify
and write what are the changes that happens during male’s
puberty stage. While the other group will write the changes in
female’s puberty stage Time allotment is five minutes.
Female’s changes in the body during puberty stage are:
1. widening of hips
2. Acne
3. Monthly menstruation period

1. Adam’s apples start to appear
2. Acne
3. Muscles development
4. Hair growth in armpit
5. Body odor
6. Voice change
7. Broadening of shoulder
