ASSESSMENT ATTENDANCE CRITERIA

All students are expected to attend all the lecture / seminar sessions.

A register will be retained for all sessions, and recorded attendance levels of
less than 7 (of 10) sessions will be penalised.
ASSESSMENT 1

A time constrained in-class assessment of 1,000 words equivalent.

The student will be required to give an individual presentation of 10 mins (max) to
the tutors.

Analyse a chosen (case study) organisation in terms of its strategic capability
to deal with the current state of the economy and outline it's propensity for
future success.

Contextualise in relevant academic theory utilising models from the module
materials

Word count equivalent: 1000 words +/- 10% worth 25% of the overall module grade,
assessing learning outcome 3

Presentations will be made on Thursday 23rd February

Timings 10:30 – 13:00

10 mins each presentation, as previously supplied in advance to the Tutor.

Presentations will be individual and presented just to the Tutors.



ASSESSMENT 2

A time constrained in-class assessment of 1,000 words equivalent.

The student will be required to give an individual presentation of 10 mins (max) to
the tutors.

Analyse a chosen (case study) organisation in terms of its strategic capability
to deal with a significant issue of “failure of Governance” and where found
lacking how the organisation could have acted differently to prevent such
failure happening again.

For example organisations who have exhibited this failure in the past could
include :

Union Carbide

Exxon

BP

Royal Bank of Scotland
Contextualise in relevant academic theory utilising models from the module
materials

Word count equivalent: 1000 words +/- 10% worth 25% of the overall module grade,
assessing learning outcomes 2& 3

Presentations will be made on Friday 16th March

Timings 10:30 – 13:00

10 mins each presentation, as previously supplied in advance to the Tutor.

Presentations will be individual and presented just to the Tutors.



ASSESSMENT 3

A case study assignment essay which is equivalent to 2,000 words. (Learning
outcomes 1, 2 & 3) – 50%.

Provide a detailed assessment of the strategic issue(s) within a specific
organisation, relating this to contemporary strategic management theories.

The Case study material and supporting academic and commercial papers for
this academic year will be provided in the BU7755 module space

Deadline: TBA

Word count: 2000 words +/- 10% worth 50% of the overall module grade, assessing
learning outcomes 1, 2 & 3

Analyse a chosen (case study) organisation in terms of its strategic capability to deal with the current state of the economy and outline it's propensity for future success. Contextualise in relevant academic theory utilising models from the module materials Word count equivalent: 1000 words +/- 10% worth 25% of the overall module grade, assessing learning outcome 3 Presentations will be made on Thursday 23rd February Timings 10:30 – 13:00 10 mins each presentation, as previously supplied in advance to the Tutor. Presentations will be individual and presented just to the Tutors. ASSESSMENT 2 A time constrained in-class assessment of 1,000 words equivalent. The student will be required to give an individual presentation of 10 mins (max) to the tutors. Analyse a chosen (case study) organisation in terms of its strategic capability to deal with a significant issue of “failure of Governance” and where found lacking how the organisation could have acted differently to prevent such failure happening again. For example organisations who have exhibited this failure in the past could include : Union Carbide Exxon BP Royal Bank of Scotland

Contextualise in relevant academic theory utilising models from the module materials Word count equivalent: 1000 words +/- 10% worth 25% of the overall module grade, assessing learning outcomes 2& 3 Presentations will be made on Friday 16th March Timings 10:30 – 13:00 10 mins each presentation, as previously supplied in advance to the Tutor. Presentations will be individual and presented just to the Tutors. ASSESSMENT 3 A case study assignment essay which is equivalent to 2,000 words. (Learning outcomes 1, 2 & 3) – 50%. Provide a detailed assessment of the strategic issue(s) within a specific organisation, relating this to contemporary strategic management theories.
