This document outlines the assessments for the MBA Strategic Management module. It includes 3 assessments: 2 in-class presentations worth 25% each analyzing organizations' strategic capabilities; and a 2,000 word case study essay worth 50% assessing an organization's strategic issues using relevant theories. Students must attend at least 7 of the 10 lecture sessions to avoid penalties. The presentations will require analyzing organizations for their ability to deal with economic conditions or governance failures. Reassessments will replicate the learning outcomes of the original assessments.

ASSESSMENT ATTENDANCE CRITERIA
All students are expected to attend all the lecture / seminar sessions.
A register will be retained for all sessions, and recorded attendance levels of
less than 7 (of 10) sessions will be penalised.

A time constrained in-class assessment of 1,000 words equivalent.
The student will be required to give an individual presentation of 10 mins (max) to
the tutors.

to deal with the current state of the economy and outline it's propensity for
future success.

ASSESSMENT 2
A time constrained in-class assessment of 1,000 words equivalent.
The student will be required to give an individual presentation of 10 mins (max) to
the tutors.
Analyse a chosen (case study) organisation in terms of its strategic capability
to deal with a significant issue of “failure of Governance” and where found
lacking how the organisation could have acted differently to prevent such
failure happening again.
For example organisations who have exhibited this failure in the past could
include :

materials
Word count equivalent: 1000 words +/- 10% worth 25% of the overall module grade,

ASSESSMENT 3
A case study assignment essay which is equivalent to 2,000 words. (Learning
outcomes 1, 2 & 3) – 50%.
Provide a detailed assessment of the strategic issue(s) within a specific
organisation, relating this to contemporary strategic management theories.
The Case study material and supporting academic and commercial papers for
this academic year will be provided in the BU7755 module space
