This document summarizes a project to speed up a distributed video coding (DVC) system decoder using GPU implementation. The main computation of the DVC decoder, side information generation, was ported to the GPU to improve processing time. Specifically, motion estimation, a computationally intensive part of side information generation, was implemented using CUDA. Testing on a QCIF foreman sequence showed the GPU implementation reduced processing time of side information generation from an average of 510 ms to 77 ms.
