2. Over The Shoulder and High Angle Shot
To begin with, this shot captures our three main actors filming for the very last scene, where the
apprentices talk about their mission and what information they have gathered from it.
For this scene we captured a high angle/over the shoulder shot. In addition, we are giving the
audience prospective of the two apprentices and it illustrates how everything is displayed/set out.
We captured these angles by placing a camera on a tripod to keep the camera steady and this was
completed by placing the camera on the table. This gave the camera elevation to enable us to get
the high angle shot that we wanted whilst filming.
The camera work when trying to retrieve the correct shot worked effectively because it allowed us
to gain two different shots within a scene.
However, to improve we will need to change the Mise en Scene, therefore meaning that we will
change the location of where we first initially filmed. Also you can clearly see that the location
depicted on screen is a class room which changes the mood for the opening sequence.
Furthermore, within the classroom there needs to be a whiteboard as this detail is in our storyboard
and it will make more sense to the audience when they are observing our final opening sequence.
For our next draft we will have to vary the location to see what suits our sequence best. To do this
we might need to use a dark room where the lights can help create chiaroscuro lighting. This will
mean the scene will be more realistic as its typical in relation to the thriller genre and the location
won’t resemble a classroom. Instead it will resemble a business office which will most likely attract
to the older adults on our target audience spectrum. As well as, incorporating a few low-key lighting
shots which can help create tension.
