Pablo Figueredo is a famous Uruguayan sculptor born in 1954 in Montevideo. He was encouraged to pursue art by his parents, who were also art lovers. Some of his early sculptures from the 1970s used cement and explored symbolic and prehistoric themes. In 1978 he had his first solo exhibition and later began working primarily in marble after experimenting with other materials. He is known for large-scale public sculptures, including one installed in 1996 in the sculpture park of the government palace in Montevideo.
