Our application aims to bring about transparency, clarity and swiftness in the process of donation thus aiming to mitigate prevailing issues in whatever zone it is possible for us to do so. This is a project report for the same.
FOOD DELIVERY APP is a application designed primarily for use in the food delivery industry. This application will allow hotels, café, street food vendors and restaurants to increase scope of business by reducing the labor cost involved. Application presents an interactive and up-to-date menu with all available options in an easy to use manner. Customer can choose one or more items to place an order which will land in the cart before checking out. At the end customer can gets order confirmation details. Once the order is placed it is entered in the database and retrieved in pretty much real time.
Objective -
Develop a application that will allow customers to place their food order online and provide them with feedback, a generic image of the meal, a list of side dishes, main course ingredients, and cost information.

2. OUR PROJECT TEAM
We are a team of three formed on 18th August 2021, who decided to design and
develop an app that can help Calgary Food bank to feed the people in need
using technology. Based on the researches and statistics we reviewed on food
wastage in Canada, it was alarming that this country has no more reason to
claim hungry people. We are confident that our technical approach towards this
situation will definitely bring some changes to the people to be fed.

12. OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT CHARTER
FEED THE HUNGRY
Using Technology
●Key elements of our project charter:
○Background
○Project Objectives
○In Scope & Out of Scope Deliverables
○Project Planning Conditions (assumptions, risks, constraints, & success factors)
13. PROJECT CHARTER PURPOSE
The purpose of the project FEED THE HUNGRY is to create an avenue that
enables the utilization of potential food that is being wasted in Canada and
by using technology, we will make those food available/delivered to the
people in need through Calgary Food Bank.
14. PROJECT BACKGROUND
● ACA non-profit group is a technology-based organization focused on alleviating
hunger through the use of latest technology. We are partnered with Calgary
Food Bank as well as government to achieve this objective of making food
available to every hungry Calgarian.
● We collect data of donors and consumers through a mobile add-on app called
Food Hub on Calgary Food Bank website, and thus bring convenience to all
stakeholders by sharing information.
● Recent statistics from Hunger count 2019 showed that 63% of the food
Canadians throw away could have been eaten. With the implementation of this
new technology, a large portion of this percentage will be harnessed to help
people in need of food.
15. PROJECT OBJECTIVES
● The project objective is to deliver a technical prototype which is an app through
message broker technology that will help source the available foods around us
to feed the people in need in Calgary. The prototype will be available on 26th
August 2021.
● This mobile app will be available as an add-on app on Calgary Food Bank
website for individuals and business donors, consumers as well as other
stakeholders.
● Food Hub registered users, including donors and consumers, will have access
to food bank through the new mobile app. This mobile app will serve as a
communication platform by the Calgary Food Bank for donors and consumers.
16. IN SCOPE PROJECT DELIVERABLES
● App can be accessed only by residents in Calgary at the moment.
● Implement the message broker technology to develop the app - App pushes
message to registered consumers when food is available at a food bank.
● Create Database of donors and people in need – data regarding app users
will be with food bank for future approaches.
● Gain access to healthy food (protein, fruits, grains, special diet food) – food
bank handles collection and distribution of food.
● Create a registration form, User-friendly interface for providers and
consumers through a secured web interface of Calgary food bank.
17. OUT OF SCOPE PROJECT DELIVERABLES
● Outside Calgary Coverage
● No fast foods/ candy/ expired foods
● No inventory of food and logistics
● Not a dedicated website rather it is only an add-on app on Calgary’s food
bank website.
18. PROJECT PLANNING CONDITIONS
KEY PLANNING ASSUMPTIONS
● Funds from Sponsors will be adequate to fund the project.
● Acceptance of the technology solution by Calgary food bank and other
stakeholders.
● Awareness campaigns on the new technology will be expanded by all
stakeholders.
● Calgary Food Bank already has a database that can integrate and interact
with Food Hub’s app for data collection and sharing.
● Calgary Food Bank in collaboration with government’s health and safety
agency ensures the safety of donated food.
19. PROJECT RISK
Risk Factor Impact Mitigation Strategy
More resources will be required across the
operation and within the Group
High
● Request food storage technology and device by
Calgary Food Bank
● Request logistics in the operation
● Be clear about expectations of people in need
The safety and security of data collection. Related
parties do not provide enough data during
registration.
Medium
● Donor ID card during registration
● Key registration form entry columns will be made
mandatory.
Non-profit business model cannot work for a long-
time period Low
● Request more manpower by Calgary Food Bank to
maintain the operation
● Request more infrastructure
Not meeting the initial project schedule Low
● Regular reporting process and daily stand-up meeting
within the team
● Flexible project deadline
Providers not providing valid expiry date for food
may cause health issue High
● Calgary food banks’ collaboration with health and
safety agency of government
20. PROJECT CONSTRAINTS & SUCCESS FACTORS
CONSTRAINTS
● Budgeting: The limited amount of funds available to ACA Group from project
sponsors. Careful planning is necessary to ensure full maximization of funds.
● Scheduling time: Online meetings to be held with the stakeholders within short
notice, given the tight time constraint.
SUCCESS FACTORS
● Identification of appropriate resources
● Continuous input and sponsorship by related parties to the operation
24. PROTOTYPE & HOW WE INCORPORATED FEEDBACK
● Ad prototype!!
● Prototype
● Feedback received on the prototype and how it impacted our solution

Food Hub Mobile App Technology a Veritable Tool to Feed the Hungry
Technology is really playing a central role in the lives of humans. You may wonder, can
it feed my hungry stomach? In other words, can I eat technology? Yes, some may
agree. Why? Because through technology access to variety of healthy food choices has
been made available thanks to Food Hub mobile technology app introduced by ACA
non-profit group based in Calgary.
Ten years ago ACA group was dismayed to learn that a staggering 63 percent of all
Food Canadians threw away could have been eaten. This amounted to over 2.2 million
tonnes of edible food wasted, costing Canadians in excess of $17 billion. Ironically,
during this same period many were lacking adequate food in Canada.
28. Excerpt from Sunshine Bobo Newspaper of August 26, 2031
ACA then embarked on a project titled feed the hungry in Calgary. In collaboration with
Calgary Food Bank, they created a mobile app called Food Hub using message broker
technology. This app is a downloadable add-on on Calgary Food Bank’s website. The
app has provisions for both donors and consumers to have access to Food Bank by
filling out a secure web form with their ID details. These details are validated and used
by Food Bank to source and distribute the healthy food in stock to the people in need.
Ever since, Food Hub mobile app has been adopted by almost all food banks in
Canada. Food Hub mobile app has become so popular due to its user-centric design. It
also brings about a common meeting platform through technology to address the
desperate needs of the hungry.
Food Bank Calgary recently reported an average of over 60% increase in food
donations and 40% rise in their consumer database through Food Hub mobile app.
Indeed, technology has become a veritable tool to feed the hungry.
29. REFLECTION
Team Dynamics
• What was it like to work as a project team? Did you like working together?
We discussed the ideas and created the concept, then made agreement and completed the charter.
For the final presentation, we got our respective sections done on time. Yes, we liked it.
• What was the most inspiring moment for your team?
We thought it was in the prototype stage, we all tried our best to provide an approach - ad, story and
newspaper article.
• What was the most frustrating?
Brainstorming on different perspectives given the project time constraints
• Were there moments of conflict or disagreement? How did your team reach a
resolution?
Yes, there were one moment. It was about the customer journey, finally Andy took the ownership.
