Bloom Box is an electricity generator created by BloomEnergy in 2010 that uses fuel cells to produce electricity through a chemical reaction without combustion. It has higher efficiency and lower CO2 emissions than traditional power plants by converting natural gas or biogas into electricity. The Bloom Box server is small, produces electricity on-site which eliminates transmission losses, and requires no water for normal operation, offering significant water savings compared to other generation methods. Google was the first customer to receive Bloom Box fuel cell servers in 2008.
