Our sedentary lifestyles
have been the chief cause
of many lifestyle diseases
including obesity.
More and more people all
over the world are now
battling morbid obesity.
Increased weight and its associated health troubles
like high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2
diabetes, can be easily avoided by adopting healthy
lifestyle habits like increasing physical activity and
good dietary habits.
For those who struggle with weight and low energy,
learning how to increase metabolism can be the key
to safe and effective fat loss.
What is metabolism?
Metabolism is basically the rate at which your
body uses energy, or, burns calories.
Metabolism is a natural process and thus
varies with each individual.
Slow metabolism cannot alone be blamed for
increased weight; however it is one of the
main reasons for weight gain.
How to calculate BMR?
Basal Metabolic Rate is the amount of energy
(often expressed in calories) that a person
needs to keep the body functioning at rest. It
is dependent on several factors like age,
weight, body composition, gender, heredity
and thyroid functioning.
Understanding your BMR and then inculcating
ways to increase your BMR can help people in
reducing weight quickly.
Tip 1: Small and frequent meals
Having smaller, balanced meals
throughout the day indeed is a great way
to boost your metabolism.
It keeps blood sugar levels from fluctuating
and thus cravings for foods that tend to put
on fat are greatly reduced.
While on the other hand, extending the
time between meals often makes our body
go into "starvation mode," thus decreasing
metabolism.
And most importantly – start your day with
a healthy fulsome breakfast every single
day….
Tip 2: Increase proteins in your diet
Why protein?
Body burns twice as many calories by
digesting proteins than it does when
digesting carbs.
How can we do this? Every meal
you eat should contain at least
30gms of protein apart from the
regular carbs and healthy fats.
Tip 3: Switch to Green Tea
Why Green Tea?
Green tea contains active ingredient,
catechin, a substance that naturally
steps up metabolism and thus
promoting fat burning.
Have Green tea throughout the day
(at least 3 to 4 cups) and also make
sure to have plenty of water as well.
Tip 4: Consume organic foods
Have organic stuff (which is sans
pesticides) to pep-up your fat-
burning system in full swing. Go
organic!
Pesticides or toxins mainly interfere
with the workings of your thyroid,
thus slowing down the weight loss
process.
Tip 5: Build MUSCLES!
Why muscles?
Muscle burns more calories than fat
does. This is why weight training is
not just for men, but also
recommended for women.
Your exercise routine should be a
mix of both cardio and strength
training.
Tip 6: Have Aloe Vera juice
Why Aloe Vera?
Aloe Vera, the wonder plant has many
benefits, one of them being that it also
boosts metabolism.
You can have an Aloe Vera plant at
home or can buy its concentrate juice
from stores.
It is advisable to have at least 50-100
ml juice per day.
Tip 7: Sleep well
Why is sleep important?
A good night’s sleep helps to regulate
hormone levels, reduces stress and
thereby aiding metabolism in that
process.
Have at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep
everyday.
Tip 8: Have Omega-3
Why Omega-3?
Omega-3s balance blood sugar and
reduce inflammation, helping to
regulate metabolism.
Consume omega-3 fatty acid
supplements or include omega-3 rich
foods in your diet. Sources include
flaxseed, eggs fortified with omega-3s,
walnuts, fish like Salmon, tuna, etc.

  • 2. Our sedentary lifestyles have been the chief cause of many lifestyle diseases including obesity. More and more people all over the world are now battling morbid obesity.

Increased weight and its associated health troubles like high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, can be easily avoided by adopting healthy lifestyle habits like increasing physical activity and good dietary habits. For those who struggle with weight and low energy, learning how to increase metabolism can be the key to safe and effective fat loss.
