▪ Egg masses are cream grey or whitish in
colour
▪ This mass often contain 100-200 spherical
eggs .
▪ A single female moth produces an average
of 1500 eggs in her lifetime.
▪ Duration of egg stages in only 2-3 days
during warm condition .

8. 2. Caterpillar
▪ Egg hatch into small caterpillar with
3-5 days
▪ Small caterpillar can also carried to
other plant by wind
▪ Small caterpillar may appear greenish.
▪ Caterpillar mature within 14-22 days .

▪ Catepillar develops into a reddish –
brown pupa in the soil
▪ Pupae may also found in maize cob.
▪ Pupae stage lasts for 8-9 days when it
is warm but can be long as 20-30 days
in colder areas .

during warm conditions.
▪ The male forewing has a

by average 10 days with a range of 7-
