respected information is worth becoming news or not. If
the news is already broadcasted or printed so it is no

E.g.: If a bomb blast happened in a masjid of Karachi
while performing Namaz-e-Fajar, but the editors doesn’t
publish its news in the newspaper of that day instead
publish it the other day, so that news doesn’t contain the
factor of timeliness because people have already heard
about that bomb blast on news channels and other
newspapers.

and important news for Pakistanis while if a bomb
blast happens in a church situated in Pakistan,
people would not care as they have religious
sentiments with Muslims rather than Christians.

rupees doesn’t matter but its impacts on the business
of goldsmiths and those who were planning to buy
gold are big
5. 4. Magnitude
The rare number or quantity of something makes it a
big news.

deal but if 500 children dies due to similar disease it
is a big news.
6. 5. Prominence

whether it’s a simple information it is considered a
big news.

times on news channels with the name of breaking
news.

conflict between them in past is also a news value.
E.g.: If there was a match going on and suddenly two
people starts fighting badly it will become a news.
If there was a big conflict between two actors that
they stopped talking and meeting each other and
after some time they are reported to work in the
same film so people would be excited of how they
would treat each other while shootings.
8. 7. Currency
A news which is a less popular one initially but due
to people’s engagement in it, it becomes so popular
and has most follow ups would be considered a big
news after that.
E.g.: Zainab’s murder news wasn’t a big one when
her dead body was found but after the news of her
rape and then murder people’s reaction made it big
and it had most follow ups which made it the most
popular news around the world.
