3. Adolescent pregnancy has been a global social issue
among women around the world. According to Mezmur H.
(2021), teenage pregnancy is a global issue raising
concerns for all who are interested in the health and well-
being of young women and their children. It carries major
health and social issues with unique medical and
psychosocial consequences for adolescents and society.
BACKGROUND
OF THE STUDY

occurred during the pregnancy?
What challenges did the teenage mothers of Guinaoang have
to face after their pregnancy?
How did the teenage mothers of Guinaoang face the
challenges?
Teen pregnancy is a complex and multifaceted issue that affects individuals, families, and communities.
To better understand the impact and contributing factors of teen pregnancy, this study is to answer
comprehensive questions utilized. This research would aim to gather information on a range of topics
related to teen pregnancy, including but not limited to:
5. • Students
The study will benefit students
who still are at school because it
will give them information about
the cause and possible effects of
teenage pregnancy on their
studies once they got pregnant.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE
STUDY
6. 2. Parents
This study will also benefit the
parents to enable them to
realize their great role in
educating their teenagers,
protecting, and diverting
them from indulging in early
sex, especially without
marriage.
SIGNIFICANCE
OF THE STUDY
7. 3. School Administrators
This study will also benefit school administrators. It
would provide them with information on the importance
of knowing the major factors behind early pregnancy
and the possible effects on the educational development
of teenagers.
SIGNIFICANCE
OF THE STUDY
8. SCOPE
AND
DELIMITATIONS
1. Informants: This study will focus on teenage mothers who went through a
pregnancy during the year 2020-2022 at Guinaoang Mankaya, Benguet.
2. Research Design: This study will utilize a qualitative research design namely
interviews and relying on insights regarding the past and current experiences of
teenage mothers at Guinaoang Mankayan, Benguet.
Data Analysis: Data collected will be inspected using thematic analysis, allowing the
identification of teenage mothers and data patterns that have surfaced from the
lived experiences of the informants
Scope
9. SCOPE
AND
DELIMITATIONS
1. Geographical Limitations: This study will be conducted at Guinaoang
Mankayan, Benguet and some findings may not be generalized to
teenage mothers at other locations. However, the insights gained from
this research may still be valuable information regarding the lived
experiences of teenage mothers.
2. Time Constraints: Due to time limitations, this study will be conducted
over two months. As a result, the research may not capture all the
experiences needed throughout the life of a teenage mother.
Delimitations
11. REVIEW OF
RELATED LITERATURE
Teenage pregnancy, especially below 17 years of
age, has been considered to have a higher risk
than pregnancy in an adult, because of
biological immaturity of the teenager. (Waduge,
2005)
13. REVIEW OF
RELATED LITERATURE
Pregnancy and childbirth during the teenage years are
associated with increased risk of poorer health and well-
being for both the mother and the baby, possibly reflecting
the socio-economic factors that precede early pregnancy
and childbirth. (S Paranjothy, 2009)

CHAPTER
III
15. This study will adopt a qualitative
research design to explore the
experiences of teenage mothers of
Guinaoang, Mankayan, Benguet .
RESEARCH DESIGN
16. A qualitative approach is appropriate for this
research as it aims to gain an in-depth
understanding of the participants' perspectives
and the meaning they attribute to their
experiences.
RESEARCH DESIGN
17. Qualitative methods such as
interviews, focus groups, and
participant observations will be
employed to collect rich, descriptive
data that will be analyzed using
thematic analysis.
RESEARCH DESIGN
18. The target population for this study comprises teenage
mothers at Guinaoang, Mankayan, Benguet. A purposive
sampling technique will be employed to ensure that
participants represent different grade levels, genders, and
socioeconomic backgrounds. Approximately 3 to 4
participants will be selected to participate in the study,
ensuring a diverse and representative sample that can
provide a comprehensive understanding of the experiences
and challenges faced by teenage mothers in this setting.
POPULATION AND
SAMPLE
19. 1. Semi-structured interviews: Individual semi-structured
interviews will be conducted with each participant to
gather detailed information about their experiences,
challenges, and coping strategies as working students.
The interviews will follow a flexible interview guide with
open-ended questions, allowing participants to express
their thoughts and feelings freely while ensuring that key
topics are covered.
DATA COLLECTION METHODS
20. 2. Focus groups: Focus group discussions will be
held with small groups of participants to
encourage interactive discussions and explore
shared experiences and perspectives among
teenage mothers. Focus groups can provide
valuable insights into the collective understanding
of challenges and resilience within this group and
stimulate the exchange of ideas and support
among participants.
DATA COLLECTION METHODS
21. 3. Participant observation: The researchers will engage in participant
observation by attending school events, classes, and extracurricular activities
involving working students. This method will provide first-hand insights into the
daily lives and experiences of working students and complement the data
collected through interviews and focus groups.
DATA COLLECTION METHODS
22. Data collected through interviews, focus groups, and
participant observation will be transcribed and
analyzed using thematic analysis. This method
involves a systematic process of coding and
categorizing data to identify patterns and themes
that emerge from the participants' experiences.
Thematic analysis will enable the researchers to gain
a deep understanding of the unique challenges and
coping strategies employed by teenage mothers, as
well as the role of family, peer, and school support
systems in fostering resilience.
DATA ANALYSIS
METHODS
23. The research will be conducted in compliance
with ethical guidelines to ensure the protection of
participants' rights and well-being. Key ethical
considerations include:
1. Informed consent: Participants will be provided
with information about the study's purpose,
procedures, potential risks, and benefits. They will
be informed that participation is voluntary and
that they can withdraw from the study at any time
without any negative consequences.
ETHICAL
CONSIDERATION
24. The research will be conducted in compliance
with ethical guidelines to ensure the protection
of participants' rights and well-being. Key
ethical considerations include:
2. Confidentiality and anonymity: Participants'
identities will be protected by assigning
pseudonyms, and any identifying information
will be removed from the data. All collected
data will be stored securely, and access will be
limited to the research team.
ETHICAL
CONSIDERATION
25. The research will be conducted in compliance with
ethical guidelines to ensure the protection of
participants' rights and well-being. Key ethical
considerations include:
3. Emotional well-being: The research team will be
