3. You may change any setting on your Facebook account. This includes settings on your profile, application settings and privacy settings. If you are concerned about your privacy on Facebook, you can change privacy settings to allow certain people to view only parts of your profile or even block an individual. 4. Facebook allows you to make several choices regarding your privacy online. Users can choose to allow everyone on Facebook to view your info or limit to certain categories such as Friends and/or Network. You may also limit how people find you on Facebook (your visibility level) and what they see when they find you. Privacy Continued….
5. Photos can easily be added to your profile. Simply click on the photos tab on you profile. This not only allows you to view your friend’s photos but also upload your own. To upload your own select Create a Photo Album . Facebook Photos To create an album, fill out the information requested. Click Create Album .
6. Once the album is created you will need to upload the photos. Click Browse. This will open a dialog box. In the Look In box select where the photo is located. (i.e. floppy, cd, my computer) Select the photo you wish to upload. Click Open . Check that you are certified to distribute the photo and click Upload Photo . Repeat this process for each photo. Each album can hold up to 200 photos. You may also edit photos by adding captions and telling Facebook who appears in the photo (AKA tagging). Be sure and save your changes. Photos Continued….
7. Adding Apps To find applications to add to your profile click on the Applications tab in the bottom left corner on the task bar. Click Browse Applications to enter the Application Directory. The Application Directory allows you to search for apps by name or browse by category. Learn more about the apps and what they do by clicking on their name or photo. If you are interested in adding it to your profile click Go to Application .
8. Verified applications have passed a detailed Facebook review to confirm that the user experience they provide complies with Facebook policies. They are highlighted by a green checkmark. A Verified Apps badge will appear on their Profile Pages as well. Facebook requires you to officially Allow an application to be added. 9. Editing Apps Editing or removing applications is easy. Your applications can be accessed under the Application tab (bottom left on task bar) or through the Setting button at the top. To completely remove an app from your profile, select the X . Facebook will again ask for verification. Select Remove to complete the process. You may also edit settings such as where it will appear on your profile and who can view it.
10. Popular Applications One option that's gotten a lot of attention is poke . When you poke someone, Facebook sends a message to the other member that says he or she has been poked by you. What does this mean? 11. Notification & Chat Features The task bar at the bottom of your profile allows you to see who is currently online and available to chat. Simply click their photo to open a chat screen. Chat features in Facebook work in the same manner as other companies. To chat with the person you selected, type your message in the box provided next to the talk balloons and press ENTER on your keyboard. The chat window will keep a history of your current chat session with your friend. Mary: Hi Notifications allows you see a snapshot of the latest activities on your profile. You can modify what items appear in your notification in the account settings page.
12. Notes Notes are another way to share thoughts, photos, chain letters, etc. on Facebook.. To create a note, select Write a New Note. Next enter the title and the text of your message and tell Facebook which of your friends to notify or tag.
13. Finally, Become a FAN! Share your offline interests with your friends by becoming a fan of your favorite things. Using the search feature (top right corner) type in the name of your favorite library, actor, movie, hobby…you name it and become their fan. Becoming a fan allows you to receive periodic updates from their page and a chance to meet new people with similar interests.
