This document discusses a study on whether Facebook likes and shares impact Google search rankings. The study found that: 1) Creating pages with 900 likes each on different domains did not affect Google search rankings. 2) Google is unable to assign the same level of trust to likes as it can to backlinks, since it does not know who liked a page. 3) A small study on shares was inconclusive due to low sample sizes. 4) Google crawls public Facebook profiles but does not use Facebook data like likes and shares for search rankings.
