Project Brief
Every concept of any design
always starts with a brief. This
is where the aim of the
project is determined and any
requirements that must be
met are given to the designer.
Giving clear and concise
guidelines that must be
followed with a desired
outcome.
Mind Mapping
After the brief, a mind
map is then thrashed
out to give all the
elements the design
must have or a theme
it could take. This is
helpful and any
common threads are
taken as major
components within the
development stage.
Conceptual Design Stage
The developer then puts ideas
down as a conceptual design,
sketching all the main
elements to be incorporated.
This then gives the designer a
chance to show others their
thoughts in a pictorial way
which illustrates how they
envisage it to look.
Mood Board
The designer then starts
to look for ways to bring
the design to life.
Looking for elements
that would enhance the
design to get maximum
impact is essential.
Bringing the design to life
The design then starts to
breathe life through the
production stage of
development. This is where
the design takes shape.
This also gives an opportunity
to see whether the conceptual
design actually is working
towards the goal set out in the
brief given earlier.
Body text or copy write
This is where the written word
or content is developed. This is
what information must be
contained in the document
or design. This is where the
research has taken place and
intended to be used in the
product regardless of the design
medium used.
Unformatted text allows the
developer to manipulate this to
suit the design and the content
must remain exactly as written,
as this is the minimum
information required.
Combining all components
Combining all of the
elements together
will deliver a finished
product that mirrors
the conceptual design
and fits the brief
given initially.
The developers then take the finished product and give
their thought process, selling the idea so it can be used
in line with the original brief, before approval allows
the finished design to go into full production
From Pizzas to Planes
Whether you are designing:
- PowerPoint
- Learner workbooks
- Facilitator guides
- Websites
- Assessments
The process of development is the same, some
points may be less or more depending on the
project and it’s brief.
To understand continual development you must
understand the process from it’s conception to
result to enable the structure to remain the same,
with the underlying mapping to not be affected.
From toppings to trends
Keeping current with:
- Information
- Trends
- Current affairs
Ensures that the development and
design is always cutting edge,
innovative, fun and up to date with
the times ensuring that the product is
informative yet enables the learner to
gain the maximum amount of
knowledge in an exciting medium.
What you will get…
- Professionalism
- Creativity
- Innovation
- Quality
- Perfection
- Team player
- Good communication
- Enthusiastic
- Understanding of what people
want in training
- Sense of humour
- Commitment
When you choose me to be part of the

Functions Development and Design Team:
You can be sure I will deliver:
What have I achieved so far
Collaborated with Toni Hayes to bring to
life her vision of the rewards and
recognition program AWEsome through
branding and reworking the ALIGN core
values within Toll dnata
What have I achieved so far
• Subject Matter Expert courseware development
• Assisted Port Training Coordinator and Passenger
Service Manager project manage the Virgin SABRE
rollout
• Assisted in the successful start up contracts of:
China Southern
Virgin Australia (VANZ)
Air New Zealand
What next?
I am Continually looking for ways to challenge
myself, to add my contribution to an amazing
training team nationally and to make a difference
in our common goal of training the very best
product to our staff equipping them to achieve the
very best to their abilities, what ever the medium.
But it does not stop there I am looking to develop
my skills further by:
-Undertaking a Website Developer Course to
compliment my Graphic Design Diploma
-To undertake my CERT IV in training and
assessment to enhance my skills learnt
throughout my training career.
And finally…
How do we turn
PIZZAs into PLANEs…?
