Narrative Essay On Being A Daredevil
I was a very mischievous person and I liked to take stupid risks that didn t make sense to anybody
else. People gave me extreme dares just to see if I would be able to complete them. I always
proved myself as the daredevil of the group. I used to take pride in the fact that I can do extreme
things without feeling slightest kind of fear. This nature of being a daredevil got the best of me
when I was given the task where I got into a horrible situation. I was bitten by a wild dog on my
ankle. It was extremely painful and devastating. I wasn t able to walk for over a month. This
incident had an impact on my mind for a long time. I had scary dreams where I was chased by
that wild dog. After this, I became terrified of any kind of wild animal. Even... Show more content

The freezing weather was enough to turn one into an ice sculpture. My room was warm and cozy
contrasting to the extreme weather outside. I was wide wake completing my project when I heard
a faint cry in the distance. I didn t take much notice. I thought it is all in my head and that my
mind is playing tricks on me again. I ignored it and kept on working but no matter how hard I
tried, those voices didn t go away. Turning up the music volume seemed to work on blocking out
the noises. I finished my work and went to the kitchen to grab some water when I heard that cry
again, this time it was louder and more painful. Instead of looking for what it was and where it
was coming from my fears overpowered me and I went back to my room. I got in my bed and
tried to block the sounds by covering my head with a blanket. My conscious was not letting me
sleep, I kept thinking about what kind of animal it was and what kind of animal can make such a
painful sound. I couldn t help but imagine the pain it must be in. the more I thought about it, I
wanted to help it. I was in a constant fight with my fears, but I thought that I wouldn t be able to
sleep knowing some living creature might be in pain. I gathered the courage and walked back to
the kitchen to find the source of the animal voices. I assumed that it would be coming from one of
the cabinets but when I looked outside the window I could see a cat stuck in the concrete screen
wall that separated the laundry

Abe Lincoln Research Paper
Abraham Lincoln was considered by many American s as one of the greatest Presidents of the
United States. Having come from humble beginnings it could be said that Abraham Lincoln rose up
to meet all the challenges that would greet him, and it could be argued that at the time the only
person who could successfully guide the United States through the Civil War was Abraham Lincoln.
At the time of his presidency, the United States was falling apart, with the South trying to secede
from the North, creating much chaos that Lincoln had to deal with. He worked slowly and
throughly, which sometimes got people agitated but he was a very careful working man and knew
that it was better if he took his time. Abraham Lincoln was not... Show more content on

2 Lincoln felt as though African Americans were not equal to the white people, but he believed
that all men were created with certain rights. In 1857, the Supreme Court issued its controversial
decision Scott v. Sanford, declaring African Americans were not citizens and had no inherent
rights. 3 This act influenced Lincoln to stand up and speak out to what he thought was right and
wrong, and in 1860, Abe Lincoln became the President of the United States. Lincoln stands out
as a great war president, probably the greatest in our history, and a great natural strategist, a
better one than any of his generals. 4 Lincoln was not a natural strategist, he worked hard to
master the subject, just as he had done to learn how to read and study to become a lawyer,
nothing came easy to him and he had to work hard to achieve whatever he wanted. He had no
time to prepare becoming commander in chief, he had to learn it on the job. Tried By War
showed the dilemmas Lincoln had to overcome like, generals disobeying orders, and the south
trying to secede from the north. Lincoln wasn t a master of war, and did a lot of studying to
help him become a great commander in chief. Tried By War tells us how Lincoln had to
gradually overcome the slave issue because if he abolished slavery all at once, he would lose
many of the border states that had slaves, but were on the Union side.

Vampires are a widely spread phenomena that have filled the teenager s mind with wild thoughts of
romance, and immortality. But today we are going to take a walk down history and folklore to

cultures, and so on.

Joanne Ng 588141 To what extent does the influence of social determinants factors have on
happiness? Happiness is usually expressed as the point to which an individual assesses the total
worth of his or her existence as a whole positively (Veenhoven, 1993), and regularly, considered on
an ordinal scale of answers to biased questions. Most experimental findings consume various kinds
of self reported ideals on happiness or particular well being dignified from various scaling methods.
Happiness is a personal and multi dimensional notion every distinct person depicts it in a diverse
way, it is comparative, and it is determine by an extensive range of influences, involving individual
personalities. Consequently, allowing it to be assessable and creating causal relationships a task.
The information and experimental studies distinguish between the natures of happiness and
noticing the connected expressions life s satisfaction and well being. The explanations of
recognised ideas overlap through the proposal on happiness and are separated into numerous
categories. In this study, the main ideas associated to happiness and their factors are shortened in

Geology Of Mercury Essay
Mercury The geology of Mercury is similar to the geology of the Moon; although, Mercury is a
much denser planet with a larger liquid iron core. The surface of Mercury is covered by impact
craters and lava plains.
It s believed that the surface of Mercury is geologically inactive; although, only 55% of the surface
has been mapped in enough detail to see its geology.
Some of the largest craters in this period were filled with lava from Mercury s interior. It s
believed that vulcanism on Mercury ended during its first 700 800 million years. Craters on
Mercury can be small bowl shaped pockets, or huge impact craters hundreds of kilometers across.
The largest crater on Mercury is the Caloris Basin, measuring 1,550 km. One of the unique places ...

The plates act like a hard and rigid shell compared to Earth s mantle. This strong outer layer is
called the lithosphere.
Four types of plate boundaries exist: Transform bounderies occur where two lithospheric plates
slide; Divergent bounderies occur where two plates slide apart from each other; Convergent
bounderies occur where two plates slide toward each other; Plate boundery zones occur where the
effects of the interactions are unclear.
The lithosphere, which is the rigid outermost shell of a planet (on Earth, the crust and upper
mantle), is broken up into tectonic plates. On Earth, there are seven or eight major plates (depending
on how they are defined) and many minor plates.

The Squire In The Canterbury Tales Essay
The Squire is best described as a player with the ladies. The prologue says So hot he loved that,
while night told her tale, he slept no more than does a nightingale (4). In Chaucer s Canterbury
Tales, the Squire is the Knight s son but it is clear they want different things. The Knight wants his
son, the Squire, to be a brave and honorable knight serving the community, but the Squire wants to
play his flute and romance women. The flirty, outgoing Squire was a Knight in training. His father,

Air Pollution Is An Unavoidable Mixture Of Substances That...
Air pollution is an unavoidable mixture of substances that we breathe in. There is no way to
escape air pollution nowadays since it can be encountered indoors as well as outdoors. The type
of pollution we breathe in can be divided between indoor and outdoor by the different types of air
pollution that are released in these environments. Fine particles such as burning fossil fuels (such
that come from traffic and energy production), tobacco smoke, and chemical vapors are found in
the air breathed in from outdoors, while solvents (such as found in household cleaners and
products), mold, and carbon monoxide are sadly breathed in from within homes and businesses on
a daily basis.
There is no question to anyone s mind that these air pollutants cause harmful effects to one s health.
Studies have been conducted to link air pollution to the hundreds of ailments that many men,
women and children have suffered over the years. Cardiovascular and respiratory illnesses are
without a doubt caused by air pollution as studies have shown. Today there are studies showing that
Autism is linked to air pollution. The purpose of this paper is a review of the current state of
knowledge on air pollution and whether it plays a role in children developing autism.
Autism is a disability that impairs the normal brain development in children. It causes deficits in
their verbal and non verbal communication, social interaction, and play. Girls are more likely to

The people around us make experiences great and unforgettable. I was oblivious to this fact
before my first completely independent summer trip for three weeks. In the past, I always

let me go on this trip; as they also saw it as an exciting opportunity. It was up to me to plan it all on

It was an evening when everyone started to relax and try to be him or herself. Being part of a

different games we played, starting from charades, card games, word games, team games and
ending with full out competitions on limbo, volleyball and long distance swimming against the

the universe is to us, our perspective on humanity would shift from a focus on our distinctions to

What is important about shipping fic in terms of representation is that a good majority of these
shipping fics portray romantic relationships between members of the same sex. Oftentimes these
relationships have a basis within the subtext of the original work, but the subtextual relationship is
not brought into the textual, most likely due to the lock in. And while there has been a recent
increase in the portrayals of homosexual relationships in the mainstream media, bisexuality gets
even less representation, and in the cases of other sexual orientations such as pansexuality,
demisexuality, and asexuality fanfiction is one of the only places where they can get any
representation at all. There has also been a similar trend in the representation of the transgender
community, owing to the greater acceptance of this way to be a person (Hacking). However, some
find this amount and kind of representation to be lacking, especially when considering the fact that
other non traditional gender identities such as non binary, agender, or genderfluid have little to

The Gravitational Pull Of The Sun And Moon
The constant pattern of rising and receding of the sea level is called the tide. But just what causes
this?... Gravity, to be more specific the gravitational pull of the Sun and Moon.
The best way to understand how the tides work is first acknowledging the relationship between the
rotation of the earth with the Moon and Sun. As we know the Earth spins on an axis, the water on
earth is kept at equal levels all around the planet by a combination of gravity pulling inward and
centrifugal force pushing outward.
Just the Moon s gravitational forces alone are strong enough to interrupt this balance by speeding
pushing the water towards the Moon. This makes the water to swell. As the Moon circles Earth
and as our planet rotates, the swell also moves. The areas of the Earth where the swells occur have
a high tide and the other areas will have a low tide. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here s an analogy: imagine yourself trying to swing a heavy object like a rock attached to a rope
around your waist as you spin. You have to lean back to compensate, which in turn makes the
center of mass between you and the object. gravity could be explained and an invisible rope that
holds objects together, and centrifugal force is a boundary between to two objects. Because if the
centrifugal force is stronger than the Moon s gravitational pull, ocean water on the other side of the

Differences Between Stand By Me And The Goonies
There are many 1980 s movies about kids going on adventures, but Stand by Me and The
Goonies are two movies that took the idea of the average adventure movie and made it more
relatable to many different audiences. They are both about young, outcasted children, primarily
boys, going on a life changing adventure with their close friends, but the movies are narrated
differently. Stand by Me and The Goonies offer two very different approaches to the classic
coming of age genre; the storylines differ greatly because Stand by Me is more serious and
realistic, while The Goonies is hilariously unrealistic and more about the fun of the adventure.

The characters in Stand by Me are also very realistic and relatable to the average person. Even
though The Goonies are about kids who are outcasts, the kids in Stand by Me are closer to the
actual definition of an outcast, which is someone who has been rejected by society. Specifically
the character Chris Chambers, who is a perfect example of an outcast. Because his family has a
bad name, he has been labeled as the problem child in the town. Although he has done many bad
things, he is blamed for things that he has not done, which makes him relatable to many
children. In The Goonies, the kids are relatable in a way but Stand by Me s characters go deeper
than that. The Goonies is a hilariously unrealistic movie about a group of young friends
searching for a treasure filled pirate ship, setting off many booby traps, and running away from
money hungry criminals. In this movie, a group of young boys find a treasure map in an attic and
go on an adventure to save their neighborhood from being replaced by a golf course. Although
there are a few moments in this movie that could be serious, those moments are quickly changed
back to the movie s normal humerus and fun loving demeanor. In The Goonies there are many
ridiculous booby traps that the famous pirate One Eyed Willie set up that the group of friends ran
into multiple times. The very first

Process Essay
Process of a 4 stroke Internal Combustion Engine
A common phrase that is heard whilst growing up is curiosity killed the cat . This phrase might
be true but; ingenuity brought the cat back . Having a mindset in which giving up is never an
option has plagued most inventors of the modern day, especially a high school drop out named
Nikolaus August Otto, born in 1832. Otto was responsible for the development and improvement
of the 4 stroke motor that is used today in just about every automobile on the road. Many people
drive cars but fail to realize how they work, and don t try to learn about engines because they think
it is complex, and not an easy concept to grasp. Air, fuel, spark, and combustion are the premise...

In the next step the air travels into the combustion chamber (cylinder), where it is mixed with the
other components of combustion.
Equally important as the air, is the fuel going into the cylinder. Fuel starts off in the gas tank of
the car and then gets pumped into the fuel lines by the fuel pump. The fuel goes through the fuel
lines and into the fuel rail. Attached to the fuel rail are electronically controlled injectors (one per
cylinder), which are controlled by the mass air sensor. The mass air senor regulates how much fuel
is necessary to mix with the air to achieve the ideal air to fuel ratio. The injectors spray into the
cylinder at synchronized times mixing with air and eventually resulting in combustion.
The final and most important steps of the Internal Combustion Engine are the movements of the
pistons. At this point in the process fuel, and air are both present inside the chamber and are
combined into a ratio, this is called the air fuel ratio, short AFR. There are four motions of each
piston; they are in perfect balance and harmony, much like watching an orchestra perform. These
motions (strokes) are detailed as follows:
В•On the intake stroke, the intake valve has opened. (The intake valve is the opening that the air
and fuel are released into the cylinder) The piston is moving down, and a mixture of air and
vaporized fuel is being

Political Propaganda During The Cold War

In fact, Bedford alone got as many as one million books across the Soviet Union s borders over

The propaganda used in the book demonstrates how a revolution, despite how good the initial

A Research Study On Patenting Genes Of Organism
Patenting Genes of Organism
The advancement of technology has lead to many scientists conducting more experiments with
gene modification. This has lead to scientists to isolate certain genes that may cause a certain
disease, thus modified genes may change the organism in a particular way. It may help farmers
with crop cultivation and reduce crop infestation. It may also help farmers to be able to cultivated
crops or keep animals that are prawn to drought resistance. Before, I go in details explain the
importance of why businesses that develop modified organisms should be able to preserve their
property rights by patenting such organisms or why such organism should not be patentable. I
would like to briefly explain the history of patenting. For over two hundred years living organisms
have been excluded from patent laws; life forms were considered a product of nature and not a
human invention. The non patentable status of living organisms changed with the 1980 landmark
Supreme Court case Diamond v. Chakrabarty, (W3 Unisa, 2005). The court decided in a narrow 5
4 decision that a strain of bacteria that had been modified by the insertion of new genes was
patentable because it was not naturally occurring. The foreign genes gave the bacteria the ability to
break down hydrocarbons, and its inventors hoped it might be useful for cleaning up oil spills.
Historically, patents were initially developed to insure and protect inventors and to make sure that
they could benefit

dauntless father and blonde, wavy hair from his gentle mother. Both of his parents are Jedi
Knights, an organization that once guarded the chaotic galaxy in the way of the force. In a
perilous time when Jedi are being savagely hunted by the wicked Galactic Empire, the family
keeps an eye on each other in order to survive. Markonius apprehensively ponders about the safety
of his family. Droids constantly scan every nook and cranny of the populous city to bring forth
suspects who secretly possess the forbidden knowledge of the force. Due to the strict security...

Over the years, Morningstar steadily falls in love with another pupil, Aayla. Many students

A Linguistic Analysis of Obama’s Inaugural Address
Rhythm and Rhetoric: A Linguistic Analysis of Obama s Inaugural Address

My appreciations to my supervisor Stuart Foster for very helpful advice during the research.
Abstract
In this essay I shall analyze Barack Obama s Inaugural Address, January, 2009 from the perspective
of various linguistic techniques. More specifically, I shall propose and focus on the idea that the
composition of the speech has an aim to create a unity of the speaker and the audience in order to
deliver the message. Moreover, the speaker maintains the atmosphere of unity throughout the
speech, so that the speech produces an effect when the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

performance that aims the delivery of the message. I will focus on the structural and functional
properties of the language, the combination of which enables the speaker to achieve the goal of the
performance. In chapter 2, I will introduce the historical and cultural context in which the speech
was made. Context is defined as circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or an
idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood (Oxford Dictionary of English, context noun).
Defining the term context as dynamic, Mey states that it is about understanding what things are
for; it is also what gives our utterance their true pragmatic meaning (41). The context is vital for
analysis of any speech, particularly made in public. I will draw attention to the historical, cultural
and social circumstances during the election campaign, which preceded the Presidential address. In
subchapter 2.1, the cultural and social background of Obama will be described. During a
presidential campaign, any personal details of a candidate may be significant; they indicate the
electors preferences and, possibly, expectations. A President s address, in turn, is based on audience
s expectations. That is why, I think, this aspect should be taken into account while

Figurative Language In Alice In Wonderland
An author frequently exemplifies different messages and conflict within a story or novel. More
often or not, an author portrays certain types of literary devices to convey a message between
the setting and characters. In Lewis Carroll s novel, Alice in Wonderland, Alice s curiosity and
innocence as a child in the Victorian Era leads to her exploring another world called Wonderland.
She is challenged to find the true meaning of exploring outside of an ordinary world which leads
her to question her own identity. The depths of wonderland and many influences Alice stumbles
across changes the dynamics of her inner self from a child to an adult. The white rabbit resembles
her escape outside of reality into a new world that ultimately creates a... Show more content on

Carroll uses the food and drinks as a way of representing Alice s curious appetite for growing up
in her societal role. As she wanders around Wonderland, her curiosity often leads to her eating or
drinking an object in order to satisfy her curiosity. When she drinks the Drink Me substance she
says, Curiouser and curiouser! Cried Alice she was so much surprised, that for the moment she
quite forgot how to speak good English (Carroll 6). Many times throughout the novel, Alice
adventures revolve around food and drinks such as sweet baked snacks, potions and tea to appease
her curiosity. Alice begins to lose control of her eating and drinking habits of Wonderland which
demonstrates her maturity as she looks towards adulthood in the reality world. The more food and
drinks Alice applies to herself, Carroll establishes the metaphor of growing up results in
unpredictable events and changes that are irreversible. Alice stumbles across the Cheshire Cat who
portrays the opposite of growing up as he believes taking short cuts are better than asking for
advice. The Chesire cat exclaims to Alice, Then it doesn t matter which way you go (Carroll 49).
The metaphor from the Cheshire Cat resulted from Alice asking about visiting the Mad Hatter. In
this case, The Cheshire Cat is a representation of taking the easy route and not visiting the mad

This Bitter Earth Dance Concert Report
I was at Vale remix last night. I really enjoyed every piece, but admit that at by the time the last

Unnecessary Stigm Bdsm Relationships
Unnecessary Stigma: BDSM Relationships
With the rise of books like Fifty Shades of Grey, there are many questions being asked about what
the real effects of BDSM (bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and
masochism (sadomasochism)) relationships are on participants (Turley et al 123, McDonald).
There s the question of where the boundary between abuse and recreational play is drawn, where
the psychological implications of the relationship becomes too much for the individual, but all of
that can be boiled down to just a few points to explore. In order to really understand what all comes
with these relationships, we must look at the experiences of participants, seeking to understand
what BDSM is, and what it means. We must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Black gives them to us: SSC, or Safe, Sane, Consensual, and RACK, or Risk Aware Consensual
Kink. The latter really becomes important when individuals engage in play that involves things
like drugs, where the risks can be considered no longer safe for SSC to apply (Black). Once the
understanding of limits, both soft and hard, has been reached, and the participants have given
consent, play like that between Tom and Joe can begin. As Stear points out, the scenes that are
engaged in are a form of make believe, one that gets very involved with the body, pleasure, and
possibly even pain, but they are a fantasy nonetheless (29). Tom isn t actually a puppy, but
pretending to be, getting so lost in the headspace that, for a time, he experiences the world as if
he were a puppy, giving him a break from the stresses of human life (Turley et al 130). It is with
this understanding of what the scenes are made of, along with what they are built upon, that we
can begin to focus on what BDSM is for an individual.
These relationships go beyond many other types in requiring participants to trust each other enough
to give up or receive some kind of power in relation to the other. Even when the dominant
/submissive dynamic isn t as revalent, there is a level of trust and communication that is

Essay on Media Portray of Environmental Issues
The way that media has portrayed environmental issues has changed radically in the past few
years. Environmental issues often aren`t considered newsworthy unless something large scale
occurs with a notable impact on everyday life. The BP oil spill in 2010 made front pages world
wide, there was a sudden push for the rescue of marine life and a general disgust for the condition
of the Gulf Coast. An outpouring of awareness came of this tragedy and mass mediadiligently
informed audiences of every detail as the following cleanup events unfolded. Most environmental
news is not front page material. The media gets the ultimate say in what is deemed as important.
The typical newspaper reader does no read every single article, but rather skims ... Show more

Media draws from various sources to gather facts and assemble stories for their readership. When a
story comes out about a new scientific discovery or an impending extinction of a species, the source
must be considered. In a paper by Jeremy Corbett entitled Testing Public Uncertainty of Science he
discusses how newspapers especially just don t have the manpower to go straight to the scientific
source. Media often rely on information sourced from governmental and private entities rather than
cutting edge scientific information. This allows them to provide information that is easily
understood and likely widely accepted. Corbett gives the example of a magazine that cites scientific
reports but changes their story constantly: cell phones cause cancer, no they don`t, then months
later they are back to the initial assumption.
Awareness does not necessarily lead to change. Just because an environmental issue is brought to
light doesn t mean its going to pull at everyone s` heart strings and convince them to act. News
affects everyone a little differently and some indicating factors include education level and interest
in local, national, and international news. (Schafer, 2010, pp. 11 65) A survey cited in an article
by Fredrick Saunders showed that in 2011, 70 percent of people who follow international news say
that global warming is a serious threat, compared to 35 percent of those surveyed who do not

how they want to react and whether they take action C or D. The best outcome can only be
achieved with a backward induction as a result of evaluating the results first and afterwards

Essay On Smitten Ice Cream
I doubt that you have taste buds. The rather offensive comment was what my friend heard from a

nitrogen icecream often referred as revolution of ice cream among San Franciscans. I loved
living in Hayes Valley because it had Smitten. On the weekends, I would go to the ice cream

Ice cream is rather a complex mixture of different particles interacting with each other to create
unique properties of the food. The first component ice crystals are formed when water in ice
cream base freezes. The key to make smooth ice cream is to prevent ice crystals to form in big
size during freezing. Rapid freezing and constant churning of base lead water contents to form
many minute sized crystals. The texture of ice cream with many smaller ice crystals is better
than that with fewer big crystals. Also, by reducing the amount of water in the base that will be
formed into ice crystals by increasing other ingredients such as milk fat, sugar and other solids can
be a way. However, while normally water takes up 60% of ice cream base, more than 47% of the

Uterine Fibroids Affect On The Female Reproductive System
Uterine fibroids affect 3 out of 4 women (Mayo Clinic, 2014). They are non cancerous but they
can cause pain and discomfort. This paper will discuss who can be effected by Uterine fibroids
and its effects on the female reproductive system. This paper will show the three types of fibroids
that develop in or near the uterus. It will discuss the symptoms and when a diagnosis is needed.
This paper will also look into the various forms of treatment including medications and surgery.
Uterine Fibroids
Uterine Fibroids are non cancerous growths that develops in the myometrium layer of the uterus.
A single cell divides repeatedly, eventually creating a firm, rubbery mass distinct from nearby
tissue (EA, 2013). There are different types of growth patterns to uterine fibroids. Sometimes
they are small and in some cases they are extremely large. Woman between the ages of 30 and 40
years old are more at risk of developing uterine fibroids. They develop mostly in the child
bearing years of a woman s life. African American women have a greater risk of developing
uterine fibroids at a younger age than any other race. Uterine fibroids are also called leiomyomas
or myomas. Uterine Fibroids can develop on the inside or outside of the uterus.
There are three different types of Uterine fibroids. One type is Submucosal fibroids. This type of
fibroid grows into the inner cavity of the uterus. These are more likely to cause heavy menstrual
bleeding and can have an effect on pregnancy (Mayo

How Did European Culture Affect Australian Culture
European settlement due to the effects of the removal of people from their very own traditional
lands. There are many ways through which we know that Australia was different in the past than
what it is today. Before the arrival of the Europeans on the first fleet, there were no use of horses

from different parts of the world. Australiawas a descent, unspoilt country where people respected
each other and took care of the environment, animals and plants around them. People never wasted

Prison Life In Prison Essay
Opening his eyes, all Jerry sees surrounding him is damp darkness. There are no shadows or
people he can see. No windows but an eerie breeze blows past him, sending chills running up his
arms. He goes to grab his 3ftX3ft blanket that covers only a portion of his body. The only sense
of time he can tell 10am. That is when one of the security guard brings a tray of slop for
breakfast. That s only if you consider oatmeal drowned in 6 month old gravy food. With only
feeling the sun on his skin for two hours every week, his body craves warmth. Jerry has been in
this jail cell for seventeen years for murdering sixteen different people. Jerry pleaded guilty and
was sentenced to life in prison. While some people side with the opinion of sentencing prisoners to
jail for life, others side with the punishment of the death penalty.
Sentencing prisoners to life in jail is a major sentence that destroys lives. The life of the prisoner
and that family. Knowing deep inside that the prisoners mother or father or siblings will never
be able to see them outside of that jail is truly heart breaking. However, they will always know
where they are. Compared to the death penalty, many people believe that sentenced to life will
show how serious the crime was and that it will not be tolerated. Being in that jail cell for 20+
years is torture and shows that that punishment is all you need to understand and repay your crime.
The death penalty costs more, delivers less, and puts innocent lives at risk.

1.In the realm of fashion, the attire one wears can broadcast a statement, whether of their political
view or general lifestyle. Consequently, throughout history groups in our society are often
associated with a typical style of clothing. For instance, in 18th century France the sans culottes
(translated to those without britches ) were the unruly lower class that would wear, long
trousers...[and] special caps, the same as those worn in ancient Rome by free slaves. (pg. 81) This
is indicative toward their ideals of a well off government as well as the prospect of liberty.
Moreover, they would refuse to sport the knee breeches worn by the wealthy, and was a method of

Afternoons by Philip Larkin Essays
Afternoons by Philip Larkin.
A poem which reflects on the subject of marriage is Afternoons by
Philip Larkin. The poem deals with Larkin s view on young mothers watching their kids playing in
a playground and on this he concludes that marrying young and having children young, lead to the
mothers losing their identity and destiny. The techniques used by the poet such as theme, imagery
and tone deepened my understanding of the issue. The structure of the poem is simple; there are
three stanzas with eight lines in each. However, unlike every other poem by Larkin this layout has
no direct meaning. The lines are unrhymed. The first stanza deals with Larkin s rather cynical view
of marriage and deals with the idea that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using the idea of wind in the poem, Larkin is able to add his own personal views. The wind
acts as an idea of change. This is continued moreover in the third stanza via the use of enjambement.
This enables
Larkin to carry on and develop his point.
Larkin s use of imagery is very effective. The courting places which were once used by the young
mothers are changing but so are their children. The courting places are still being used, however,
the people of whom should be using them now have the burden of children and can no longer have
the fun this place entails. The unripe acorns as described by Larkin, are the children who are still
in school .
This implies Larkin, as an outsider observing and looking in, believes that as generations pass
romance is lost further and that people have children far to young. The children within the school
are not mature enough to realise what courting means. A grim humour is assumed when the reader
realises these children still have a future wereas the young mothers do not.The tone of the poem has
become increasingly more cynical. Larkin refers to how regimented the mothers lives are again
when they are expected to pick up their children from school. The women have changed immensely
with the pressures and responsibilities that the child has brought, they are putting on weight and
losing their looks, probably due to having the children. Their beauty has thickened .

The spark was most likely caused by an electrically charged atmosphere. The cause of the

hydrogen in the past before the disaster so it was probably not repaired correctly and returned
because no evidence of sabotage was found, and no convincing theory of sabotaged has ever

inflated with hydrogen. [The aftermath] Hindenburg left the town of Frankfurt with 97 people

Thirteen of the 36 passengers, and 22 of the 61 crew, died because of the crash, along with a

The idea to create the W155 came from the W150. The W150 windrower was a great success for
John Deere. They wanted to create an even better machine so that is why the W155 was created.
The terrain will not change how well the W155 operates. John Deere started in 1837. Thus it
became the company it is today and creating the W155 ( New Releases and Information, 2017).
The cab suspension gives the operator a calm ride and helps them to get a lot of work done. The
powerful lights and visibility make it very easy to run the W155 day or night. It is a an option to
add reverser, but it will unplug the machine effortlessly. There are quick attachments that can be
gotten with the windrower making it very easy to transport and easy to store. The windrower cost
roughly $150,000. The engine in windrower is a John Deere engine created in their own factory (
New Releases and Information, 2017).
Now you know that farming technology is advancing and is still advancing. First, I introduced to a
some facts about GPS. Then, we watched the self driving tractor tell facts about them. Next, the S
Series combines flew across the eating up facts. Finally, we rode in the W155 windrower through
the rough terrain and learned some facts about

India s Opinion On Indian Theatre
The aim of this essay is to explore how Indian theatre has developed within Britain, society s
opinion on Indian performers in theatre and how it is now becoming more acceptable and respected
in modern day British theatre. It is very clear that ethnical established ways of thinking have always
been challenged in Indian theatreperformance for several reasons. These consist of the
disadvantages faced by the ethnic groups on the British stage, the use of Indian languages, and how
Indian Theatre is looked upon by audiences Indian and non Indian. Tara Arts Theatre Company will
be used as a case study throughout this essay.
Firstly, in the report from, The Arts Britain Ignores it is highlighted that the historical disadvantages
faced by ethnic minority arts... (were) ... lack of premises to rehearse, lack of comparable back up
that is afforded to equivalent native British groups, lack of acceptance within the arts structure
(Khan, 1976, cited in Hingorani, 2010, p. 4). From this it is apparent hat earlier on even though the
Indian theatre community were producing great plays they still had to work and overcome the
barrier of not having any help, support or encouragement from the mainstream British theatre
industries and arts councils.
These boundaries all lead up to Tara Arts Theatre Company. The birth of Tara Arts was created
when a male Asian youth called Gurdip Singh Chaggar was killed in a racial responsive attack.
This took place in London on 4 June 1976. (Hingorani, 2010,

The Effect of Enzymes on Apple Juice Production
The Effect of Enzymes on Apple Juice Production
Biology
Period 6
Background Info The purpose of this experiment was to determine which enzyme or the
combination of the two enzymes makes the most apple juice from applesauce. We did his by,
mixing 10 drops of an enzyme (cellulose/pectinase/both) into a few tablespoons of applesauce. We
then left the rest to nature, and watched the liquid funnel out for 10 minutes. Lastly, we recorded
our data. The cell wall is a complicated structure containing both cellulose and pectin. Pectin is
found in the cell walls of plants and is also specifically found concentrated near the skin and core of
fruit. It is what keeps the fruit together and prevents it from getting mushy. ... Show more content on

Compare And Contrast St. Thomas Aquinas
St. Thomas Aquinas was a philosopher that believed he was bounden to save people and not
destroy them. However, his father tried to persuade him to become a lawyer, which of course he
didn t want to be. St.Thomas Aquinas was one that believed in the Natural Law Theory. This
helped him create the eight essential features in what living things exhibit. St.Thomas is one that
believes one s soul makes a person. There are civil laws that help him explain what a natural law
is. All of this leads back to the main question which is, How do we determine if something is
moral, right or just?
St. Thomas s starting point for ethics began with Aristotle. He attended Plato s Academy and
structured his ideology from him. Thomas admired Plato but preferred Aristotle s word. Even
though they didn t have his exact words they asserted his learnings from the books he wrote. The
reason why St. Thomas didn t follow Plato s words and ideas was because he found problems in
Plato s philosophy. He had a difficult time trying to prevail with this social contract theory. The
social contract theory exhibits only moral obligation, it is a signed/ unsigned contract that isn t
written out and physically signed however it is structured on the concept of what is expected for
you to do. Plato confides his thoughts to how human beings exist in society. St. Thomas is similar
in indicating these ideas, he wants to show how human beings exist based on their natural
environment. This method is also

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Fixed Cost Contracts
The Fixed Price Contracts is a type of the contract regularly used by the Federal Government for
the procurement of various supplies. This type of contract provides prices for a firm, which is
often adjustable depending on the issues specified under the contract. According to Engelbeck
(2002) the Fixed PriceContract provides for various acquisitions as described below:
a)Price determination: In this case, the prospective firm provides a fixed price at the initial stage
for determination or adjustment, either upward or downward. The price is also set at a certain
ceiling for determination at the end of the contract period.
b)Materials reimbursement. This is a fixed contract used for the purchase and repairs of services

How can Warranty and Contract Management benefit the Government Customer?
The management of warranty and contracts is a key aspect of procurement both for the government
and the contractors. While there are numerous advantages of maintaining an effective contract
system, some of the key benefits include; tracking, contract vendors and their contact details, and
knowing the assets covered under the contracts. It also assists in maintaining the profiles of all the
client contracts under a single space.
The primary benefit of warranty and contract management is the reduction of administrative
overhead costs. Hoskisson Hitt (2008) explain that, with a centralized log of assets and contracts,
the misuse of resources is heavily minimized, thus giving the management an opportunity to
allocate resources where they are needed. Further, this translates into immediate savings of costs for
the government customer owing to the decommissioning of outdated machines off the contracts and

Visiting a Homeless Shelter Essay
La Toya Mckenith Psychology of Learning When I m out with my friends, weather we are
picking up fast food, or stopping at a red light, and I see a what I assume to be a homeless person
asking for change, I m usually the person that will give them any lose change or singles that I
have. Many of my friends hate that I do this, but someone some how I empathize with those
people. So naturally when I was asked to do something that I ve never done before, I chose to visit
a homeless shelter. I chose this because although I hand over money to people, I do this and go
back to my normal life. I never have in my 22 years of life taken the time out to actually have a
conversation with a homeless person. I ve never taken the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I was responsible for the housekeeping, which included doing the job I detest the most. I had to
clean the bathrooms and showers. I then went to work at the front desk. This was my first direct
interaction with the homeless. My job was to collect and pack bags and put them onto shelves.
Also, I had to check the homeless people s personal belongings for dangerous objects like knives
and anything that could be used to harm other people. The homeless people had to go through a
scanning machine to detect if they had items they had hid. A lot of the people were really nice
and would speak to me politely. However, I also encountered some homeless people who were
mean and seemed bored all the time. I then discovered that the mean people were the chronically
homeless who were sick and tired of doing the same things. While working, my friend and I had
some of the homeless folks giving us candy and cookies. Honestly, I did not want to have any
but people felt offended when I refused to take their offers, so I ended up taking everything I was
given. During meals people would make sure not to throw away food, so if they were something
they did not like, they would walk around offering people their leftovers. It was touching how the
homeless people always shared the little they had, and they referred to each other as brothers. The
most difficult thing was encountering two boys who were my age but stayed at the

Disadvantages Of Foreign Aid
Before we start talking and analyzing aid in all its dimensions, one has first to better understand
what aid represents in all its complicity. Beginning with the theories of aid during the last sanctuary,
we can say that different disciplines of theoreticians give diverse interpretations of the phenomenon
of foreign aid. The realists think that the most important dimension of aid is its purpose, especially
when it is used as an instrument of diplomacy. Given the assumption that states behave in an
anarchic environment, the realists see foreign aid as an instrument used to ensure state security,
protection of its political and economic interests. Therefore, taking into consideration that aid in this
case is given having donor`s interests at the core of motivation, its capability to achieve
developmental purposes are meagre. On the other hand, the Marxists school of thought and
postmodern tradition relates aid to the dependency theory by dividing foreign aid in tow group of
interesting party s. Moreover, they emphasize the world system theory through a dependency
relationship between a group of wealthy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Foreign aid is offered for many purposes and ways and the dilemma of aid is not whether aid
works or not, but how and when varied instrument can be made to work better in different country
circumstances (Hansen and Tarp 2000, pp. 19 20). Another study conducted by Minoiu and
Reddy argues that aid matters for economical growth and it can contribute significantly, but only
specific kinds of aid have clear cut impact on growth and only in a long term. Overall, foreign aid
has a significant effect in those cases when it ranks high in the aid quality index while geopolitical
aid has been found with zero or negative effect on

Gun Control Essay
The mass shooting in Roseburg, Ore. has reignited debate over gun control and gun rights in the
United States. Below are a series of questions drawn from what people have been searching for
on Google since the shooting and an attempt to answer them. What is gun control? Gun control is
a broad term that covers any sort of restriction on what kinds of firearms can be sold and bought,
who can possess or sell them, where and how they can be stored or carried, what duties a seller has
to vet a buyer, and what obligations both the buyer and the seller have to report transactions to the
government. Sometimes, the term is also used to cover related matters, like limits on types of
ammunition and magazines, or technology, like the type that... Show more content on

Many mass shootings have been carried out by people who were recognized by those around
them as being deeply disturbed, yet were able to own guns legally. From 1994 to 2004, federal
law also banned the sale of many types of assault rifles and high capacity magazines, but the law
expired and has not been renewed. A few states have assault weapon bans of their own that
remain in place. In fact, most gun controls exist at the state level, with New York, California,
New Jersey, Maryland, Hawaii, Rhode Island, Illinois and Massachusetts being the most
restrictive. Some states have more stringent background check systems than the federal one, for
example, and some require checks before private sales like those at gun shows. Some states
require a license or permit to own a gun, but most do not. Laws on carrying weapons vary
enormously. Most states allow anyone who legally owns a gun to carry it openly, in public,
without requiring a license or permit. A few states also have no permit requirement to carry a
concealed gun. Concealed carry requires a permit in most states, but the majority of those states
grant the permits automatically to any legal gun owners who want them. States also vary in their
rules on gun possession in specific settings, like campuses and houses of worship. For example, in
Rhode Island, any person with a concealed carry permit can bring a gun onto the

Why I Am My Writing
While I believed my writing to be concise, yet thorough in the beginning of the semester, it
became clear to me that that was not the case. When entering EN3414, I had no knowledge of
critical theories or how to use secondary sources to enhance my argument instead of carry it. I
believed my heavy sentence phrasing to be an asset instead of a way to bury my argument beneath
long thoughts. In EN3414, I was able to focus on taking my papers straight to my argument, to
avoid useless sources or let them lead the paperinstead of letting my argument carry the essay.
And because I have learned to revise and rewrite my papers as many times as possible before they
are due, I can no acknowledge the parts of my essay that are too heavy or that need to be
expanded upon. As I finish this course I feel my writingis clear and concise, stating an idea and
following that argument throughout the paper. Before taking Critical Writing and Research
Literary Studies, my writing, while rather average, was enough to enable success in composition
and survey courses; however, it was not advanced enough for this class. The writings for
composition or survey classes were organized, but lacked a depth or clear argument. While the
topics would be clear and covered, there would be little to no in depth analysis and more of a
skimming above the surface. Even in longer papers, the depth of my argument was never really
deep enough, and while it was enough for the beginning courses, it clearly became a

  • 2. Narrative Essay On Being A Daredevil I was a very mischievous person and I liked to take stupid risks that didn t make sense to anybody else. People gave me extreme dares just to see if I would be able to complete them. I always proved myself as the daredevil of the group. I used to take pride in the fact that I can do extreme things without feeling slightest kind of fear. This nature of being a daredevil got the best of me when I was given the task where I got into a horrible situation. I was bitten by a wild dog on my ankle. It was extremely painful and devastating. Turning up the music volume seemed to work on blocking out the noises. I finished my work and went to the kitchen to grab some water when I heard that cry again, this time it was louder and more painful. Instead of looking for what it was and where it was coming from my fears overpowered me and I went back to my room. I got in my bed and tried to block the sounds by covering my head with a blanket. My conscious was not letting me sleep, I kept thinking about what kind of animal it was and what kind of animal can make such a painful sound. I couldn t help but imagine the pain it must be in. the more I thought about it, I wanted to help it. I was in a constant fight with my fears, but I thought that I wouldn t be able to sleep knowing some living creature might be in pain. • 3. Abe Lincoln Research Paper Abraham Lincoln was considered by many American s as one of the greatest Presidents of the United States. Having come from humble beginnings it could be said that Abraham Lincoln rose up to meet all the challenges that would greet him, and it could be argued that at the time the only person who could successfully guide the United States through the Civil War was Abraham Lincoln. At the time of his presidency, the United States was falling apart, with the South trying to secede from the North, creating much chaos that Lincoln had to deal with. He worked slowly and throughly, which sometimes got people agitated but he was a very careful working man and knew that it was better if he took his time. Abraham Lincoln was not... In 1857, the Supreme Court issued its controversial decision Scott v. Sanford, declaring African Americans were not citizens and had no inherent rights. 3 This act influenced Lincoln to stand up and speak out to what he thought was right and wrong, and in 1860, Abe Lincoln became the President of the United States. Lincoln stands out as a great war president, probably the greatest in our history, and a great natural strategist, a better one than any of his generals. 4 Lincoln was not a natural strategist, he worked hard to master the subject, just as he had done to learn how to read and study to become a lawyer, nothing came easy to him and he had to work hard to achieve whatever he wanted. He had no time to prepare becoming commander in chief, he had to learn it on the job. Tried By War showed the dilemmas Lincoln had to overcome like, generals disobeying orders, and the south trying to secede from the north. Lincoln wasn t a master of war, and did a lot of studying to help him become a great commander in chief. Tried By War tells us how Lincoln had to gradually overcome the slave issue because if he abolished slavery all at once, he would lose many of the border states that had slaves, but were on the Union side. ... Gravity, to be more specific the gravitational pull of the Sun and Moon. The best way to understand how the tides work is first acknowledging the relationship between the rotation of the earth with the Moon and Sun. As we know the Earth spins on an axis, the water on earth is kept at equal levels all around the planet by a combination of gravity pulling inward and centrifugal force pushing outward. Just the Moon s gravitational forces alone are strong enough to interrupt this balance by speeding pushing the water towards the Moon. This makes the water to swell. In the next step the air travels into the combustion chamber (cylinder), where it is mixed with the other components of combustion. Equally important as the air, is the fuel going into the cylinder. Fuel starts off in the gas tank of the car and then gets pumped into the fuel lines by the fuel pump. The fuel goes through the fuel lines and into the fuel rail. Attached to the fuel rail are electronically controlled injectors (one per cylinder), which are controlled by the mass air sensor. The mass air senor regulates how much fuel is necessary to mix with the air to achieve the ideal air to fuel ratio. The injectors spray into the cylinder at synchronized times mixing with air and eventually resulting in combustion. The final and most important steps of the Internal Combustion Engine are the movements of the pistons. It may help farmers with crop cultivation and reduce crop infestation. It may also help farmers to be able to cultivated crops or keep animals that are prawn to drought resistance. Before, I go in details explain the importance of why businesses that develop modified organisms should be able to preserve their property rights by patenting such organisms or why such organism should not be patentable. I would like to briefly explain the history of patenting. For over two hundred years living organisms have been excluded from patent laws; life forms were considered a product of nature and not a human invention. The non patentable status of living organisms changed with the 1980 landmark Supreme Court case Diamond v. Chakrabarty, (W3 Unisa, 2005). The court decided in a narrow 5 4 decision that a strain of bacteria that had been modified by the insertion of new genes was patentable because it was not naturally occurring. The foreign genes gave the bacteria the ability to break down hydrocarbons, and its inventors hoped it might be useful for cleaning up oil spills. Historically, patents were initially developed to insure and protect inventors and to make sure that they could benefit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abstract In this essay I shall analyze Barack Obama s Inaugural Address, January, 2009 from the perspective of various linguistic techniques. I will focus on the structural and functional properties of the language, the combination of which enables the speaker to achieve the goal of the performance. In chapter 2, I will introduce the historical and cultural context in which the speech was made. Context is defined as circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or an idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood (Oxford Dictionary of English, context noun). Defining the term context as dynamic, Mey states that it is about understanding what things are for; it is also what gives our utterance their true pragmatic meaning (41). The context is vital for analysis of any speech, particularly made in public. I will draw attention to the historical, cultural and social circumstances during the election campaign, which preceded the Presidential address. In subchapter 2.1, the cultural and social background of Obama will be described. During a presidential campaign, any personal details of a candidate may be significant; they indicate the electors preferences and, possibly, expectations. A President s address, in turn, is based on audience s expectations. That is why, I think, this aspect should be taken into account while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The more food and drinks Alice applies to herself, Carroll establishes the metaphor of growing up results in unpredictable events and changes that are irreversible. Alice stumbles across the Cheshire Cat who portrays the opposite of growing up as he believes taking short cuts are better than asking for advice. The Chesire cat exclaims to Alice, Then it doesn t matter which way you go (Carroll 49). The metaphor from the Cheshire Cat resulted from Alice asking about visiting the Mad Hatter. There s the question of where the boundary between abuse and recreational play is drawn, where the psychological implications of the relationship becomes too much for the individual, but all of that can be boiled down to just a few points to explore. Media draws from various sources to gather facts and assemble stories for their readership. When a story comes out about a new scientific discovery or an impending extinction of a species, the source must be considered. In a paper by Jeremy Corbett entitled Testing Public Uncertainty of Science he discusses how newspapers especially just don t have the manpower to go straight to the scientific source. Media often rely on information sourced from governmental and private entities rather than cutting edge scientific information. This allows them to provide information that is easily understood and likely widely accepted. Corbett gives the example of a magazine that cites scientific reports but changes their story constantly: cell phones cause cancer, no they don`t, then months later they are back to the initial assumption. • 42. India s Opinion On Indian Theatre The aim of this essay is to explore how Indian theatre has developed within Britain, society s opinion on Indian performers in theatre and how it is now becoming more acceptable and respected in modern day British theatre. It is very clear that ethnical established ways of thinking have always been challenged in Indian theatreperformance for several reasons. These consist of the disadvantages faced by the ethnic groups on the British stage, the use of Indian languages, and how Indian Theatre is looked upon by audiences Indian and non Indian. Tara Arts Theatre Company will be used as a case study throughout this essay. Firstly, in the report from, The Arts Britain Ignores it is highlighted that the historical disadvantages faced by ethnic minority arts... (were) ... lack of premises to rehearse, lack of comparable back up that is afforded to equivalent native British groups, lack of acceptance within the arts structure (Khan, 1976, cited in Hingorani, 2010, p. 4). From this it is apparent hat earlier on even though the Indian theatre community were producing great plays they still had to work and overcome the barrier of not having any help, support or encouragement from the mainstream British theatre industries and arts councils. These boundaries all lead up to Tara Arts Theatre Company. The birth of Tara Arts was created when a male Asian youth called Gurdip Singh Chaggar was killed in a racial responsive attack. This took place in London on 4 June 1976. (Hingorani, 2010, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Compare And Contrast St. Thomas Aquinas St. Thomas Aquinas was a philosopher that believed he was bounden to save people and not destroy them. However, his father tried to persuade him to become a lawyer, which of course he didn t want to be. St.Thomas Aquinas was one that believed in the Natural Law Theory. This helped him create the eight essential features in what living things exhibit. St.Thomas is one that believes one s soul makes a person. There are civil laws that help him explain what a natural law is. All of this leads back to the main question which is, How do we determine if something is moral, right or just? St. Thomas s starting point for ethics began with Aristotle. He attended Plato s Academy and structured his ideology from him. Thomas admired Plato but preferred Aristotle s word. Even though they didn t have his exact words they asserted his learnings from the books he wrote. The reason why St. Thomas didn t follow Plato s words and ideas was because he found problems in Plato s philosophy. He had a difficult time trying to prevail with this social contract theory. The social contract theory exhibits only moral obligation, it is a signed/ unsigned contract that isn t written out and physically signed however it is structured on the concept of what is expected for you to do. Plato confides his thoughts to how human beings exist in society. St. Thomas is similar in indicating these ideas, he wants to show how human beings exist based on their natural environment. This method is also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How can Warranty and Contract Management benefit the Government Customer? The management of warranty and contracts is a key aspect of procurement both for the government and the contractors. It also assists in maintaining the profiles of all the client contracts under a single space. The primary benefit of warranty and contract management is the reduction of administrative overhead costs. Hoskisson Hitt (2008) explain that, with a centralized log of assets and contracts, the misuse of resources is heavily minimized, thus giving the management an opportunity to allocate resources where they are needed. I was responsible for the housekeeping, which included doing the job I detest the most. I had to clean the bathrooms and showers. I then went to work at the front desk. This was my first direct interaction with the homeless. My job was to collect and pack bags and put them onto shelves. Also, I had to check the homeless people s personal belongings for dangerous objects like knives and anything that could be used to harm other people. The homeless people had to go through a scanning machine to detect if they had items they had hid. A lot of the people were really nice and would speak to me politely. However, I also encountered some homeless people who were mean and seemed bored all the time. I then discovered that the mean people were the chronically homeless who were sick and tired of doing the same things. While working, my friend and I had some of the homeless folks giving us candy and cookies. Honestly, I did not want to have any but people felt offended when I refused to take their offers, so I ended up taking everything I was given. During meals people would make sure not to throw away food, so if they were something they did not like, they would walk around offering people their leftovers. It was touching how the homeless people always shared the little they had, and they referred to each other as brothers. The most difficult thing was encountering two boys who were my age but stayed at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Disadvantages Of Foreign Aid Before we start talking and analyzing aid in all its dimensions, one has first to better understand what aid represents in all its complicity. Beginning with the theories of aid during the last sanctuary, we can say that different disciplines of theoreticians give diverse interpretations of the phenomenon of foreign aid. The realists think that the most important dimension of aid is its purpose, especially when it is used as an instrument of diplomacy. Given the assumption that states behave in an anarchic environment, the realists see foreign aid as an instrument used to ensure state security, protection of its political and economic interests. Therefore, taking into consideration that aid in this case is given having donor`s interests at the core of motivation, its capability to achieve developmental purposes are meagre. • 48. Gun Control Essay The mass shooting in Roseburg, Ore. has reignited debate over gun control and gun rights in the United States. Below are a series of questions drawn from what people have been searching for on Google since the shooting and an attempt to answer them. What is gun control? Gun control is a broad term that covers any sort of restriction on what kinds of firearms can be sold and bought, who can possess or sell them, where and how they can be stored or carried, what duties a seller has to vet a buyer, and what obligations both the buyer and the seller have to report transactions to the government. Sometimes, the term is also used to cover related matters, like limits on types of ammunition and magazines, or technology, like the type that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many mass shootings have been carried out by people who were recognized by those around them as being deeply disturbed, yet were able to own guns legally. From 1994 to 2004, federal law also banned the sale of many types of assault rifles and high capacity magazines, but the law expired and has not been renewed. A few states have assault weapon bans of their own that remain in place. In fact, most gun controls exist at the state level, with New York, California, New Jersey, Maryland, Hawaii, Rhode Island, Illinois and Massachusetts being the most restrictive. Some states have more stringent background check systems than the federal one, for example, and some require checks before private sales like those at gun shows. Some states require a license or permit to own a gun, but most do not. Laws on carrying weapons vary enormously. Most states allow anyone who legally owns a gun to carry it openly, in public, without requiring a license or permit. A few states also have no permit requirement to carry a concealed gun. Concealed carry requires a permit in most states, but the majority of those states grant the permits automatically to any legal gun owners who want them. States also vary in their rules on gun possession in specific settings, like campuses and houses of worship. For example, in Rhode Island, any person with a concealed carry permit can bring a gun onto the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Why I Am My Writing While I believed my writing to be concise, yet thorough in the beginning of the semester, it became clear to me that that was not the case. When entering EN3414, I had no knowledge of critical theories or how to use secondary sources to enhance my argument instead of carry it. I believed my heavy sentence phrasing to be an asset instead of a way to bury my argument beneath long thoughts. In EN3414, I was able to focus on taking my papers straight to my argument, to avoid useless sources or let them lead the paperinstead of letting my argument carry the essay. And because I have learned to revise and rewrite my papers as many times as possible before they are due, I can no acknowledge the parts of my essay that are too heavy or that need to be expanded upon. As I finish this course I feel my writingis clear and concise, stating an idea and following that argument throughout the paper. Before taking Critical Writing and Research Literary Studies, my writing, while rather average, was enough to enable success in composition and survey courses; however, it was not advanced enough for this class. The writings for composition or survey classes were organized, but lacked a depth or clear argument. While the topics would be clear and covered, there would be little to no in depth analysis and more of a skimming above the surface. Even in longer papers, the depth of my argument was never really deep enough, and while it was enough for the beginning courses, it clearly became a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
