The fist steps in exploring space is sending satellites into space.
•The success of sputnik 1 proved that a machine could survive in space.
Sputnik2 had laika as a passenger.
•Laika was the first creature in space.
Explorer6 was the first satellite to send back television pictures to earth .
•Tiros1 was the first satellite to send weather information to earth.
Echo1 was the satellite to relay voice and television signals from one point
on earth to another .

 The cold war was between the soviet union and the united states.
 Yuri Gagarin was the first human in space .
 Yuri Gagarin got launched into space on April 12, 1961 .
 The cold war lasted almost 50 years .
 Alan Sheppard became the first American in space on may 5 ,1961.
 The first woman in space was Russian Valentina Tereshkova.

4. To the moon
the lunar module was a special spacecraft with one purpose only. . .to take two
astronauts down to the moon’s surface and then bring them back to their spaceship .
Apallo7 carried 3 astronauts into space.
The crew of apollo10 flew all the way to the moon.
On July 16,1969,Neil Armstrong , Edwin ”buzz” aldrin, and Michael Collins took of for
the moon.

5. The space shuttle
The Columbia space shuttle was the first shuttle to orbit earth.
The challenger was the first shuttle to repair a satellite in orbit.
The Atlantis space shuttle was the last space shuttle ever built.
On June 18, 1983 Sally K. Ride became the first American woman in space when
she traveled into space aboard the shuttle challenger.
The space shuttle took of like all other spacecrafts but landed like an airplane.

6. Other planets and beyond
There are many , many , many , many ,many planets in the universe .
No human has been to another planet but the earth and the moon .
Many humans have explored the night sky with a telescope .
Astronomers use gigantic telescope to observe galaxies very far away.
The Hubble telescope is the strongest telescope ever built .

Space travel is very dangerous and expensive is it worth it? I think it’s worth it
because now people know more about the universe.
Was laika’s death a waste? I don’t think it was a waste because it proved
people could survive in space for a few days .
Would you be a good astronaut ? Yes I think I would be a good astronaut.
If you could explore space or the deep sea which would you choose ? I would
choose the deep sea.
