And as film-goers who find ourselves more susceptible emotionally to the stimuli presented in a movie theatre, we can at times experience vicariously, yet deeply, the events, the stories, the lives of those who are different from ourselves. As individuals living in a multicultural and diverse society we should consider opening ourselves up to and welcoming such engagement and the possibilities for personal transformation in our individual sensibilities. Such a transformation might occur when one considers and compares the experiences of his or her life and the impact of those experiences on his or her identity next to those raw materials that make-up or construct the identity(ies) of those who are different from them, specifically those who have been marginalized, disregarded, and silenced by a dominant we society. I have suggested that when one truly sees Other, sees and hears the stories of difference crafted and told by the Other in film, one might come to respect the different voices and stories of those lives and thus allow him or herself to see and experience life from a new position, a transformed sensibility, where politics transcend convention. In other words, when we consider our lives next to those who are different from us, when we frame those different human stories next to our own personal human narrative we may come to understand how a particular human uncertainty and vulnerability informs all of our lives.

One of the topics we’ve been talking about throughout this course is how we can track both the personal and societal impact of film. In fact, your Week One Introduction post asked you to consider this issue and, as we progressed through the class and learned new terminology--new ways of looking at film, we were able to reconsider and develop our perspectives on this.
Both of your discussion posts this week touch on this issue, and it comes up in relation to your final written assignment as well.
While everything we’ve learned has helped us develop a critical capacity for talking about film, deepening our appreciation of the medium itself, ultimately our understanding of the (sometimes very personal) way film intersects with society is the key to unlocking another layer to the material from this course.
Students sometimes wonder about this course, asking how the material directly impacts their study of a chosen major. Students may even go a step beyond that and ask about how the material they've been studying has bearing on their anticipated career field at all!
That's why it's important to take a step back, away from the camera, away from the specifications of shots or the varying aspects of cinematography. It's time to pull our eyes away from the screen and look around at the world that surrounds us. We should be able to identify and consider the many ways film can impact society . . . as well as how society may impact film! In this way, we can start to consider how we can apply what we've learned in this class!
A recent study conducted by the University of Rochester (NY) finds that watching and discussing movies about relationships is as effective in lowering divorce rates as other, more intensive, early marriage counseling programs! Watch this video presentation.

Many of the movies we respond to are made for mostly for entertainment. No matter their artistic value, or how intelligent the plot may be, the main goal is to find an audience and get them to pay money to watch what unfolds onscreen. Individual members of the creative team--the director, the writer, specific actors--might have other more lofty aims, but at the root there is a basic economic principle at work.
Therefore, it would be easy to write these films off and focus more exclusively on documentaries or smaller budget movies made by guerilla filmmakers who aren't tied to the money making Hollywood scheme of things. We could focus on films that try.

Reflection of chapter 4
(The environmental context)
For this reflection, the concept that I have picked is from The Environmental Context in chapter 4. The specific concept that the paper will discuss is the concept of the cultural preference for privacy. This is a concept that explains that different cultures have different preferences for privacy both online and offline. The preference of privacy ranges from solitude to isolation to intimacy with friends or with the family to anonymity and finally reserves. The level of preference that a culture has forms the basis upon which certain policies are set, how people socialize and the basis of deciding how to structure their houses and living spaces.
I have had an experience with this concept especially in regard to the preference for privacy on the online space. Some time back in a group of very diverse individual, a topic was raised about the numerous censoring and limitation that is done on the web in China. In the group, there was one Chinese individual who tried to explain that it works well for them and their country. However, most the other individuals in the group including myself who come from a culture where there is a lot of freedom on the internet where individuals can access anything and post anything, they like were against the whole concept of internet censoring.
We went round and round telling the Chinese individuals how the government was denying them a right to freedom and how much more they were missing on the internet because of being locked out by the government. No matter how much he tried to explain how that worked well for their society, none of us were hearing any of it because we were all convinced that what their government does is wrong. Surprisingly at the end of the whole discussion and debate, the Chinese individual seemed very unmoved by our many opinions and was still okay with this approach the government had decided to take to monitor activities on their web. From this experience, however, I ended up feeling like we had gone on an on to impose our views and criticisms without giving ourselves a chance to listen and understand the point of view of the one person who felt that such policies were okay for their country.
If I knew then what I know now that is the concepts of this course in regard to the fact that different cultures have different preferences of privacy the experience for me would be very different. This is because I would have made contributions to the discussion from a point of a lot more understanding rather than just imposing my opinion like what everyone else did. I would have been able to see and understand the point of view of the Chinese fellow in the group when he said that what they have worked for them and consequently be more accommodative of the fact we all do not have to be the same and that our needs are not their needs.

We went round and round telling the Chinese individuals how the government was denying them a right to freedom and how much more they were missing on the internet because of being locked out by the government. No matter how much he tried to explain how that worked well for their society, none of us were hearing any of it because we were all convinced that what their government does is wrong. Surprisingly at the end of the whole discussion and debate, the Chinese individual seemed very unmoved by our many opinions and was still okay with this approach the government had decided to take to monitor activities on their web. From this experience, however, I ended up feeling like we had gone on an on to impose our views and criticisms without giving ourselves a chance to listen and understand the point of view of the one person who felt that such policies were okay for their country.
If I knew then what I know now that is the concepts of this course in regard to the fact that different cultures have different preferences of privacy the experience for me would be very different. This is because I would have made contributions to the discussion from a point of a lot more understanding rather than just imposing my opinion like what everyone else did. I would have been able to see and understand the point of view of the Chinese fellow in the group when he said that what they have worked for them and consequently be more accommodative of the fact we all do not have to be the same and that our needs are not their needs.

A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.
