La unitat estructural i funcional del ronyó és el nefró.
Cada ronyó està format per un milió de nefrones.
Els nefrons filtren la sang retirant els productes
d'excreció i regulant la concentració d'aigua i sals
minerals, contribuint d'aquesta manera a l'homeòstasi.
