hindrance they
encoutered from the
German opposition
had to be reduced tot

14. The fact was that not all the bombs hit their target with precision. This aerial photograph (21/8/1944)
dates from one month after the bombardment of 21 July 1944. The training station seems more or less
repaired, the 'collateral damage' on the other hand ... .

15. Kortrijk was one of the hardest hit cities in Belgium with many more civilian deaths caused by
Allied than by German bombs. At least 515 Allied fatalities were recorded against less than 100
German. That remains an uncomfortable legacy.

hard to imagine.

Dresden.

but if we describe the destruction for all European cities, it goes beyond any imagination.
