WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?

2. CELTX
Celtx was used in the
early stages of creating
our 2-minute film, it
helped us construct our
film script. It is an
application that writes
scripts and helps you
put in all the correct
things that apply, e.g.
slug-lines.

3. BLOGGER
During our media lessons,
we were introduced to a
program called ‘Blogger’.
Blogger stores all our
work, coursework and all
evidence to support our
film. I found Blogger
confusing to use at first
but quickly adjusted to it,
and then anything did
connecting with our film
went straight onto Blogger.

4. DV CAMERA
The beginning of our
film was filmed with a
professional DV
Camera supplied by
Barnsley College with a
tripod. The film was
excellent quality and
still managed to film in
detail in the dark.

5. IPHONE
The second half of our film
was filmed on an iPhone 4.
We used this to create a
certain effect of realism and
eeriness. It looks as if your
really in the park with Jinx
when Annie comes back to
get her, it also adds to the
effect of pathetic fallacy
(when the weather reflects
the mood of the characters)
because it was windy and
cold outside when we filmed,
you get the feeling you were
there.

6. FACEBOOK
Facebook was used to
publish our
questionnaires and get
people to them, it was
also used when our film
was finished and the link
was shared on
Facebook to get people
to watch our film via
YouTube.

7. FINAL CUT EXPRESS
This was used to help put
our film together! Once the
film had been exported from
the cameras to the Mac’s by
a FireWire cable, we loaded
it onto FCE. On this we cut
our film down, placed it
together appropriately,
edited it all together, added
certain effects, and added
music tracks and credits to
complete our two minute
film.

8. YOUTUBE
It seems really obvious but
without YouTube, we
wouldn’t have been able to
even start our film. I used
YouTube for many
different reasons. I used it
to watch films similar to
ours, I used it to watch
behind the scene footage
of famous films that
related to our, I used it to
watch full films and I used
it to post our final film on
to let our audience watch
it. Without YouTube, the
task may have been
possile, but much much

9. WHAT HAVE WE LEARNT?
Looking at the process of
making the film as a whole we
have learnt how to use many
different technologies and
applications. We have learnt
how to upload videos to
YouTube, create blogs on
Blogger, write scripts with
Celtx, make a full effect film
using Final Cut Express, using
Google forms and use a
professional DV camera.
All these things put together
have created experience and
knowledge towards film pre-
production and pre-production.

10. WHAT I WOULD CHANGE…
I think the only thing I would change about the experience as
a whole is to be more organized and try to get things done
quicker because towards the end of our film making things
became a bit f rush. Also finding times when everyone was
available was difficult because of other A Levels, work and
timetables made things harder than they needed to be.
But I have learnt much more than I thought I would and now
have new skills I never thought I would have.
