 We decided when planning our music
video, we would have a storyline in order to
make it more interesting and relatable.
 A storyline would also give the audience a
reason to carry on watching the video, in
order to find out what happens.
 Our storyline would feature the female
character alone to start with and then go
back in time to her memories of her and her
  boyfriend.
 Many music videos contain storylines for the
same reason, to keep the video going and
    the audience watching.
 Some other examples of music videos which
also contain a story line is; Coldplay: ‘The
scientist’. And as mentioned already, Katy
Perry: ‘The one that got away’.
 You can see this in the links below showing
    these three music videos;
 Coldplay – ‘The scientist’:

 Our music video:

 Katy Perry – ‘The one that got away’:

 We wanted our music video to seem as
  professional as possible and therefore,
wanted to include the basics that are
shown in every music video. Therefore,
we included the name of our song and
the artists name at both the beginning
  and end of our song
 This would be featured on all music
  video’s shown on music channels
  including MTV and 4music.
Our video compared with real
examples:
 Most music video’s edit their video to the
beat of the song. We also chose to do this
in our music video in order to relate the
  video more with the song.
 Although our video was sad and held
within it emotion, the beat of the song in
most parts was quite fast and therefore, we
  included some quite fast edits.
 However, we ensured we stuck to the
storyline and the emotion we wanted to
  show in the storyline
 Editing to the speed not only connects
the video with the song, but also gives
  the song some rhythm.
 Particularly at the start and in the
montage section we included a variety
of quick edits to fit in with the beat of
  the song.
Start of video
End of video
 Finally for our specific genre, we needed to
  use specific mise-en-scene
 As mentioned on our blog, we were going
for the natural look for the female including
a floral type dress and a white lace type
  dress.
 We chose these dresses and similar outfits in
order to make the female appear innocent
and vulnerable. This would give her a more
lonely and isolated look and would also,
emphasise the emotion we planned to
  portray

White, lace dress dead boyfriend
 We also made sure the females make up
was natural to make her look innocent and
pure as mentioned in the blog.
 Moreover, we wanted to show the female
character’s hair blowing in the wind to also
  accentuate this.
 One artist this is similar to is Demi Lovato in
  her video; ‘Sky scraper’.
 Here she appears lonely and isolated, her
make-us is natural and her hair blows in the
  wind across her face.

              Hair blowing
              in wind

            Natural make-

 Our video includes some controversy
which is not common in every music
video. We have included controversy in
our video, as it includes the female
  characters boyfriend dying.
 Although, there is nothing else in our
  music video that challenges normal
  music video conventions.
