Evaluations of Insects, Birds and Reptiles work

My First picture is of a “Green Stink Bug”.

I did it using Water Colours, I used a variety of brushes so I could get the right stroke size for particular parts of
the picture, I also blended some colours into some areas that weren’t dry so I could make an effect in the
picture with the colours used.

I would give this picture a 7/10 because I have used as many colours as I could, I did a lot of blending in this
picture, and however there are areas that could be lighter or darker than they currently are.

My Second picture is of an unknown bug.

I did this using Oil Pastels, I used a lot of colours for this picture, I sketched some areas out to start so I knew
where I was working using some colours, when I put the main colours into the picture, I put some detail in
afterwards.

I would give this picture a 7/10 because I used a lot of colours in the areas that they should be in, I merged
most of the colours together, put a lot of detail into the picture and added minor details, and however, I feel I
could have done better with the colours I used though.

My Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth and Ninth pictures were of a variety of Birds, Reptiles and
Insects, like Swans, Snakes etc.

I did these pictures using pencils; I sketched out these pictures from models of living creatures. I did a lot of
shading in these pictures, especially on the edges to make the skin have an effect on the pictures; I also put a
few background objects such as tree branches into some of the pictures as the animals were sitting on them.

For an overall score for these, I would give them a 8/10, as I feel that 4 of these had some great effort put into
them, especially in terms of detail, I felt like I did the shading of the pictures really well, 2 of the other 3 looked
a bit too cartoon so they didn’t look like the pictures I drew them from, one of them was too simple to do, I
put detail into it however.

My Tenth and Eleventh pictures were off a Butterfly and an Unknown Bug.

I did these pictures using stick and ink, I had to outline where I was going to draw certain bit of the bugs using
said materials, then outline key parts of them, such as the patterns on the butterfly’s wings. Trying to get both
Wings on the Butterfly exactly alike was the hardest thing I did while doing this.

I would give these a 9/10, I feel that I did best using Stick and Ink despite the flaws I mentioned, I added a lot
of shading to both of these, as well as putting even the smallest bits of detail into these pictures, especially the
butterfly one.
