As part of our A2 media coursework we had to answer 4 evaluation questions. This is the third question.

2. The Film Review and Film

 When creating our film poster and film review it was vey
important that we highlighted the genre and theme of our
film. For example the genre of our film is social realism and
it is gritty and it has some violence in it. This is shown
through our ancillary task through:
 the use of colours
 our main image
 The type of text and sub-heading that we used
 Our fonts

3.  When it came to creating our film review
we wanted some elements of our film
poster to be incorporated within it. This
can be seen through the colour scheme
of our film review, we mainly used the
colours red and black. For example we
used the colour red for our four star
rating and the various shapes and we
used the colour black for the text and
header. This is in reference to the fact
that these colours represent death,
blood and violence. For our film review
we made sure that we were making
references to our short-film, for example
we included an image from our film, we
also kept on mentioning the name and
we also included and image of our
poster on our film review. Overall, when
creating our film review we followed the
colour and structure of the film review
site Time Out, this is in reference to the
fact that we felt that it represented our
theme and film genre.

4.  The main colour scheme for our film poster was
red and black. This is in reference to the fact that
our film is quite dark and sinister, therefore we
chose to use black because we felt the colour
black properly represented this. We also chose
to use the colour red because our film has a
stabbing scene, therefore the red represented
the blood.
 We also chose to have a dark background with a
gritty effect to it. This is because it represented
the grimmy and scary element of our film.
 When it cam to the title of our film on the poster
we had ‘That’ in a black font on top of a red box,
whilst we had ‘Girl’ in a white font on top of a
black box. The effect that this had was that it
allowed the film tile to stand out and appeal to
our target audiece.
