2. My music video was intended to have media
conventions to establish a recognisable image,
that should attract my target audience instantly.
From our research, we found that artist videos
(of our genre, ‘indie’) tended to have a mixture
of performance and narrative which is typical to
the indie genre, for example in music video for
‘Mr.Brightside’- The Killers.

3. The song ‘Silver Tongue’ – Zulu Winter portrays
a relationship between him (the lead singer) and
a woman (which is a tease). This was very
effective as it showed and expressed a lot of
emotion. We tried to express this in our music
video as displaying emotion and direct issues
rather than wide spread issues which is also a
typical convention of the indie genre.

4. We also decided to have the main characters in
the music video to be in casual/everyday
clothing as this is also typical of our genre
(Indie).

5. I also applied Goodwins theory, there is a strong
relationship between the lyrics and visuals, e.g.
‘you were like my rock and now its crumbling’
This is reflected in the scene where the rock
turns to dust in the boys hands. This has a huge
emphasis in the lyric meaning in a visual way.

6. We also decided to have a slight colour tint over
certain shots such as a such as a slight close up
or extreme close up of an instrument etc to
make it individual for example this effect is used
in ‘Something Good Can Work’ – Two Door
Cinema Club.
