4. How did you Plan your Preliminary Brief?

5. Why was your Main Task Planning better?
Our main task script consisted of a range of detailed shots to plan out the filming process. Each shot
drawing is accompanied by notes to explain shot type, the focus of the shot and some are explained with
the shot intention i.e 'extreme close up of eyes to show fear'
The positioning of the titles was included in the storyboard so that shot framing could be considered whilst
filming, to make sure that shots which required a title had sufficient space where the title would be
placed. It also helped us to think tactically about where to position each title so that decisions were not
pointless and random (I.e The film title was planned to be at the end as the climax of the sequence
arrives).
This detailed storyboard enabled us to film our title sequence in a matter of hours as every shot was in
place and clearly thought out. Of course, the specific nature of our storyboard did not limit our
spontaneity and the skill to improvise and experiment around a set shot which ultimately made our
sequence full of tension and natural instinct.

6. Improvements made:
Poor/inconsistent lighting in Preliminary Task
Lighting was inconsistent - Here we have
Poor lighting lowered the quality of the shot. The near to perfect lighting which enhances the
brightness and contrast of the shot had to be quality of the shot . Both these lighting
adjusted to gain a clearer resolution during the levels appeared in the sequence and the
editing process. (This was the best we could get drastic contrast had no symbolic meaning
it) and solely a result of poor light
management.

7. Lighting remained consistent
throughout Final Piece:
Spotlights were used to project a warm white light on to our set, and this remained
consistent throughout the filming. The lighting was atmospheric and enhanced the
quality of the filming. Due to the good quality of the shot, little lighting adjustments
were made to create higher resolution (a 'glow' video filter was used to create
atmosphere, and a distorted environment)

8. Sound: Preliminary Task
With our preliminary task we used the existing Godfather
soundtrack as our backing track. This was not beneficial as it
breached copyright regulations and in our final task, original
sound is required.
Our script was also copied from the original Godfather scene and
we used the existing Godfather dialogue which would not have
been permitted in the final task if a script was required

9. Creating Original Sound
Learning from our mistakes made on the Preliminary Task, we created our own original
soundtrack using the Garage Band application on an Apple Mac. Garage Band allowed us to
create our own soundtrack using loops. I selected a loop that sounded mysterious and sinister
with a high pitched recurring melody, then added sound effects like the crackling, chains and
distorted 'alien' sound to create a distorted original sound.
