- 1. Evaluation Question 3 A Hollywood studio could probably produce our Film because a film of his Genre hasn’t really had a wide release since “L.A. Confidential” in 1997. Also, with the release of the very popular and innovative videogame “L.A. Noire” in 2011, the Genre and style of the film has resurfaced and been brought to people’s attention. The Film would work best as a cinema release in many different countries as films of this Genre are popular in many different countries. It should have a staggered release to see if audiences take to it. This would minimise the loss to the film. If the film does take off then more money can be spent advertising and distributing it. The best time of release would late in the year at around December time. The reason for this is summer release films are usually big-budget actions films and films aimed at children. This would also be perfect for the awards season in January as it would still be fresh in people’s minds. The mise en scene of our film is very stylistic and pays homage to films from the 1940s and 50s in this respect. With the huge success of “The Artist”, a silent film in black and white, the fact the film is in black and white shouldn’t hurt it at the box office.
