The combination of the poster and magazine cover for a horror film was effective with some adjustments. Originally, the poster had a red background while the magazine cover was black, but they were altered to just black to better showcase the main character. Red symbolized violence while black represented death. Using blood on the character established the themes of violence and death and her possession. The same tagline was initially used but later removed from the poster for simplicity.

How effective is the combination of your main
product and ancillary task?

2.  We used different backgrounds for the poster and magazine
fcover. The poster has a red and black background whereas the
magazine cover has a black background. We thought it would
be better to have a variation in the backgrounds but we had an
element of the poster which was the colour black on the
magazine cover which shows the link between them. The red
represents blood and violence whereas black represents death
and darkness. The use of blood on the main character in our
poster and magazine cover shows violence and death and also
that she is possessed. We decided to use the same trailer
tagline ‘Could you be possessed too?’ as the poster tagline at
first because it’s a rhetorical question and it’s also a sense of
mystery because it leads your mind to wonder what it would
actually be like to be possessed. Also, possession is a very
serious matter which can lead to danger and death as shown in
our trailer. However we decided later on to not include the
tagline in the poster because it was not needed and to change
both poster and magazine cover backgrounds because they
overpowered the image of the main character.
