Cover
Here is the cover of my magazine. I
used a basic yet effective colour
scheme of grey, red and black so it
would not blind the audience yet the
contrasting red would grab their
attention. On the cover of the
magazine I decided to use a logo as a
masthead so the magazine would be
easily identifiable. To add to this, I
chose to use one main image on the
cover instead of many so the main
artist is the main focus. Furthermore, I
included other artist’s names on the
side of the page to show the audience
that it isn’t just one genre or artist
included in the magazine. The barcode
is out of the way yet still there as it is a
legal requirement. It is easy to find so
if the potential buyer of the product
was going to buy this magazine at say
a self checkout then they will not be
struggling for ages trying to find it,
same with the price.

Another feature I used on the
cover of my magazine was cover
lines. These are not obstructing
the main image however they still
stand out and grab the readers
attention. Along with this, I added
a puff to the page to engage the
reader. When things are
promoted as free, the population
will be drawn towards this as they
tend to think that the free gift
ensures that they get their
moneys worth. The image I chose
to use is high quality and clear,
which could attract more people
to reading the magazine or even
potentially purchasing it. I also
chose to keep the fonts the same
throughout my whole product as
they are simple, clear and easy to
read, which could be a reason the
audience would be attracted to
read the magazine.

The artists names I chosen to include were all made up and some were a play on real artists names. I included names that would
fit different genres, for example ‘TeEgaaar’ would fit the grime genre, Spring Warriors - alternative, Midnight Adventure - Rock,
Synderella - R&B, Nicole Robert - Pop and Jacob Foster - Indie Pop.
Contents
Here is the contents page to my
magazine. It uses the same
colour scheme and logo, as well
as fonts. I included more colour to
this page as well as two more
images than only one previously. I
did this in order to attract the
audience as images tend to be the
first thing you look at when
reading a magazine. The images I
used are all high quality and clear.
This was so people would clearly
be able to see what was in the
image or what the image was of
(you wouldn’t want to buy a
magazine with poor quality
images used; it doesn’t look
professional). The bar at the
bottom of the page tells the
audience the issue date in case
they want to know, as well as
page number and a web address
where they can choose to
subscribe to the magazine online.

The images I chose to use
are all spaced out and not
obstructing any other
images. The small image at
the bottom of the page
overlaps the main image,
however nothing is cut off by
it. The page numbers over
the images are large and
clear so the audience can
easily navigate themselves
around the magazine.
DPS
Here is the double page spread to my magazine. Similarly to my cover and contents page, the colour scheme and
fonts were the same. This was to make the magazine pages look like they belong together and therefore look more
professional. The text is also in columns and there isn’t too much which wouldn’t be too much of a problem for the
audience because it would not take too long to read and therefore would not be boring.
The image used is a
clear image and
good quality. You can
clearly see the main
artist as I blurred out
the background and
edited the
hue/saturation to
make her stand out
even more. The page
numbers at the
bottom again allow
the readers to
navigate through the
magazine easily. The
final paragraph is
mainly promotional
information for the
readers about the
artist, informing them
where they can find
her music or see her
next.

I chose one
image for the
DPS and I
decided to make
it take up the
whole of one
page. This was to
gather more
attention and
have the main
artist as the
audience’s main
focus. The
caption which
tells people about
the image is not
too obstructive
and is still big
enough for the
readers.

As a regards to addressing the audience, all text was formal with a few informal bursts, making the
magazine seem like it is appropriate for young people yet has a mature sense to it.
