This document analyzes how the film challenges conventions of real media products through its filming techniques. It uses an unsettling opening shot to make the audience uncomfortable. Extreme close-ups in a "getting ready" montage not only show the character but make the audience feel intrusive. Small sounds are made loud to increase tension. An unusual fish eye shot draws attention. A shaky camera creates a sense of panic. Frequent jump cuts make the piece fast-paced and thrilling.

develop conventions of real media products?

2. The Opening Shot
In the opening mid shot we see it is very dark and hard to see what is
going on. The audience is peering through a doorway, almost as if they are
being noisy into someone’s life, making them feel uncomfortable.

3. Use of Extreme close Ups
In the “getting ready” montage , we used a lot of extreme close ups, not also
does this not show what the character looks like but being that close to
someone makes the audience feel uncomfortable. The use of extreme close ups
is a convention of thriller films. The colour grading is dark, cold and blue.

4. Use Of Sounds
In this sequence, we made small sounds really loud, for example you can
hear the character run his hands over his skin. This is another convention of a
thriller film. The fish eye shot is something unusual and not seen in thriller
films but I think the odd looking camera is something the audience sint used
to and it attracts the audiences attension.

5. Shaky Camera
When the camera is following the character, it is shaky this creates a sense of
panic and is a convention of the thriller genre. The music slowly builds
tension as well as it gets faster with the shots.

6. Jump cut
The use of jump cuts shows a change in time, the frequent use of jump cuts
in this film makes the piece really fast paced. This is a convention of a
thriller film.
