2. Use Develop Challenge Screen grabs
This was used
throughout my music
video, and ensured
that it had a
professional look. I
did it by cutting each
individual shot to the
beat, and my music
video had a very fast
beat so I had to film a
lot of shots.
I developed the
editing to the beat by
getting my
classmates to watch
the video and see
what shots were not
to the beat.
I also had to use
various shot lengths,
to make sure that the
music video was not
moving too fast when
the music slowed
down.
I did not challenge
this convention as I
used it and followed
the rules.
EDITING TO THE BEAT
3. Use Develop Challenge Screen grabs
I used lip-syncing
throughout my music
video. I did this by
locking the song and
the footage together.
This was probably
the longest task that I
did throughout my
music video.
I did not develop
using the lip syncing,
but I did develop my
knowledge of using
lip-syncing, as I had
never sued this
before.
I performed a
practice task ‘Hit Me
Baby’ which helped
me to learn how to
make sure that the
movement of the
video was the same
as the music.
I did not challenge
this convention as I
followed it through
throughout my music
video.

4. Use Develop Challenge Screen grabs
My music genre was
house / hip hop, and
the artist
performance
matched the genre
very closely.
I made sure that the
artist was dancing
and appeared happy
through their body
movement.
I didn’t develop my
music video’s artist
performance as I felt
it was not needed for
the image I was
aiming for.
I challenged this
convention by not
having the artist
wearing artist
clothing. The
reasoning for this
was to make the
‘panda man’ appear
more realistic.
ARTIST PERFORMANCE
5. Use Develop Challenge Screen grabs
I used many multiple
settings for my music
video, and this added
authenticity to my
music video as some
of the settings are
unique as other
artists have not used
them.
I did not develop this
convention as I felt it
was not needed for
the impact I wanted
for the music video.
I also challenged it by
not using a typical
music video setting.
The settings that I
used were the
woods, central
London and the tube.
Similar artists to mine
often will film their
music video in a
warehouse.
MULTIPLE SETTINGS
6. Use Develop Challenge Screen grabs
I did not use parallel
editing for my music
video. The reason for
this is because I
wanted to follow the
panda throughout his
day, rather than go
from one storyline to
the other.
I did not develop this
convention as I did
not use this
convention.
I challenged this
convention by filming
my music video
continuously. I filmed
the panda in the
morning in London,
and the afternoon in
the woods, I cut
between these
settings throughout
the video, but it is not
parallel editing as
they occurred at
different times.
PARALLEL EDITING
7. Use Develop Challenge Screen grabs
I used some special
effects in my music
video, these included
a glowing effect and
a few split screens.
I developed my
knowledge on using
special effects, but I
did not develop using
the special effects.
I challenged this
convention by not
using as many
special effects as
most artists would
use for this genre. I
only used two
predominant special
effects, and artists
such as Jess Glynn
use at least 20
special effects.

8. Use Develop Challenge Screen grabs
For my track
introduction I used a
simple bold font to
introduce the director,
the reason I did this
was that it is quite
common to do so
nowadays. I has the
font over a very bad
sunset, this was
because the day I
was filming was
cloudy, so I couldn’t
film a glorious sunset.
I developed this
technique by re-
learning how to fade
in and fade out font,
and by having to
match the very
beginning of the song
to the very beginning
of the footage.
I challenged this
convention by
beginning my music
video with a sunset.
Most music videos
would begin with a
sunrise, but I decided
to show that my
music video would be
unique by starting in
a different way.
TRACK INTRODUCTION
9. Use Develop Challenge Screen grabs
The genre of my
music video is house
/ hip hop.
Conventions of my
genre are:
- Dancing
- Lip syncing
- Different shots
- Dazed effects
- Unique footage
- Unique story line
I developed this by
using all the
conventions that are
listed, and adding
more shots of each
point than necessary.
I did not challenge
this convention
because I used all of
the relevant
conventions for my
music video genre.
