This document discusses a study on the effects of hydatid disease caused by the parasite Echinococcus granulosus on lipid profiles in infected patients. The study found significantly increased levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, VLDL, and immunoglobulin G, as well as decreased levels of HDL, in 30 patients with hydatid disease compared to 20 healthy patients. This lipid profile change is likely due to the body's acute phase response to the parasitic infection and resulting inflammation.
