1. Evaluation
We began learning how to use Adobe Illustrator and Adobe After Effects.
Making rolling titles for Devil Rides out was the main way we could achieve
understanding how to use these software’s. We also had to look up technical
works to help us understand the meaning of them so we could then use them
in later work. We called this the Glossary. We looked at other animated titles
to see what they’ve done and how. This helped us for when we were
creating our E4 Sting and Salford City logo. Our other tasks included drawing
out some Dynamism Exercise to help us get an idea of what we could create
on the software.
Doing this helped me understand the basics of using After Affects and
Illustrator. We also looked at interactive menus and other effects that are
added to a film, program, titles, credits or idents. This was to show what is
used in after effects. This helped me see where and when effects are used in
films.
We then had to make our own E4 sting. This was a challenge because there
wasn’t much guidance; however, this is where I began to understand it a lot
easier. The E4 sting was a good way for us to test out our skills in a short clip.
We then began to start our designs for our logo for Salford City College Sports
Academy. This was a good way for us to start being creative and designing
our own logo, so this was a chance for us to start from scratch. I found this a
lot easier because we could be more creative, and this gave us more of a
chance to use Illustrator rather than After Affects. Working with Illustrator is a
little harder, however, this task helped understand the basics.
We also looked at other logos to get inspiration and to see what they have
done to advertise their company, this gave us a good idea what
professionals have done to portray their company. This task was helpful
because I got to look at, in detail, what other people have done to create
logos.
Creating a story board for our Sports Academy clip gave me a clear
guideline to what was going to happen in my video. This was helpful for me
so I could make my video easier and quicker. Working with Illustrator and
After Affects was difficult, but when understanding the basics I understood
how to at least make a short video and how to make a real photo look
drawn. All the work we have done has been a good experience for the
future because I will be using these software’s a lot in other classes.
