This document contains summaries of three images being considered for use in an advertising campaign for clothing targeted at 16-21 year olds. Each image summary outlines why the image is suitable, noting qualities like appropriate models aged 16-17, casual summer clothing and settings, affordable pricing, and natural lighting and backgrounds with plants. Minor edits made to the images are also described, such as changing to portrait orientation, removing logos, and adding the campaign logo and slogan.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

This image is suitable for my advertising campaign because it doesn't have high end clothing its very casual, and the colour scheme has a Summer vibe to it with the red
and green colours in the background from the plants. It is also suitable because the model is aged 17 which fits the target audience of 16-21. The clothing isn’t something
that a person of lower class wouldn’t be able to afford, the clothing should be affordable and suitable for the campaign. It should appeal to the target audience. It doesn’t
have anything too complex on it, like superior lighting and effects. Its fairly simple and the location isn’t anywhere too fancy, its in a suitable location. The colour scheme of
the clothing is nice and simple too, the plain white and blue give it a very cool and chill feel to it. They are also light colours which also adds to the Summer theme.
Key qualities of the image would be the way the red plants give the image a much more Summer feel. Without the plants there then the image would be a lot more plain
and wouldn't have much going for it. The image also isn’t too bright but isn't too dull, its in between. It doesn’t have too much lighting on it, it isn’t doo dark and dull
which would give it an overall depressed mood. The overall mood of the image is just fairly mild. The clothing is a key quality of the image as that is the main subject in the
image. People are looking at the image for the clothing, they want to see what is being advertised. The background is just to help with the overall theme of the image to
match the season of when the advertising campaign is taking place. I feel that the plants in the background and the clothing are the key qualities of this image. The plants
stand out with their colour and make it look more summery, the clothing isn’t too fancy and is appropriate for the target audience it is also what the advertising campaign
is set to advertise so it has to be a key quality of the image. It is also what stands out on the image along with the plants. I have changed the image to make it portrait as
that is what was required. I have also cut out the outer sections of the background, the logo on Jordan’s t-shirt has been removed for trademark reasons. I have removed
the earphone wire on the image as I felt it didn’t really go with the image and the advertising is meant for the clothing only, the earphones shouldn’t be shown off. The
outline of Jordan’s phone in his pocket has also been removed, I smoothened it out so it didn’t look too distracting or out of place. I also added in the slogan and logo
into the image. The slogan is in the top left and the logo is in the bottom left. I made the slogan a bit more of a pink colour as to match with the colour of the plants, I
didn’t want to have it as red as it didn’t look right. The logo has had its background cut out, I felt that it was too distracting with a bright white background. I decreased
the opacity of the image, also to decrease the attention that it could take away from the main subject.

This is my second image which is of Brendon. It is appropriate for the advertising campaign because it has an appropriate background, appropriate colour scheme and
appropriate clothing. The background features a lot of plants and a tree which fits in well with the summer theme, they give the background a natural colour scheme and
green is appropriate for summer. The natural colour scheme gives the image quite a relaxed tone. Brendon is aged 17 which is in the age range for the target audience of
16-21. This means it would appeal to them as they would see somebody who is of their age advertising clothing and would most likely spark their interest. He isn’t posing
in a very conventional and professional way, he is posing as if he is comfortable, which would hopefully make people think that it is the clothing that has put him in this
comfortable state. I believe that the key qualities of this image are the background, the lighting, the model and the clothing. The background helps set the mood of the
image, the lighting isn’t too bright or too dull, Brendon is posing in a way that would appeal to the target audience and the clothing is appropriate for the advertising
campaign and target audience. The changes I have made to this image include: adding the logo and slogan, changing the model’s position and zooming in slightly. Not
too much ahs been changed on this image as I felt that it was fairly good on its own and only needed changes that had to be changed. I moved the model slightly to the
right of the image as not to make him completely in the centre. I added the slogan into the bottom left and the logo into the top right. The slogan has been placed out of
the way as to not take any of the audience’s attention away from the actual advertisement, I didn’t want it to be completely distracting. I have changed the colour to
match the overall colour scheme. It has a small font and has every word starting with a capital letter, making it a bit more readable.

This is my third and final image for my advertising campaign featuring Tom as the model advertising the clothing. This image is suitable for the advertising campaign as it
shows off what my advertising campaign is aiming to show off. It shows a model aged 16 (in the target audience age range), it shows a summer theme, it shows cheap
clothing at an affordable price and in good quality. The setting for the image has a summer theme which is what I was aiming for, the plants in the background, the
natural lighting and the colour scheme. The lighting on the image shines on the plants in the background making them nice and bright. It shows that it is a sunny day,
also adding to that summer theme. The clothing in the image is nothing that would be too expensive and wouldn’t appeal to a younger audience of working class status.
It is however, good quality clothing which is what I need to be advertising. The key qualities of the image are the lighting, the background setting and the relaxed state
that the model is in. The lighting gives the image a much more summer vibe and makes it easier to look at. The background setting is in an ordinary place that anybody
could visit so it appeals to the target audience and also stands out in the image. The model has a very relaxed body language and facial expression. This gives the
audience the impression that he is very comfortable and relaxed in the clothing making it appeal to the audience and hopefully getting them more interested in
purchasing the clothing. The changes I have made to this image include: making it portrait, removing the logo on the model’s hoodie and adding the logo and slogan of
the advertising campaign. I made the image portrait as I needed 2 portrait images. I felt that this would be an image suitable for portrait. I removed the logo on the
hoodie in order to avoid any legal issues such as copyright or trademark laws. The logo and slogan were added in to the top left and bottom right. I placed the logo in
full form with its background and full opacity as I felt it was appropriate on this image and not too distracting. The slogan has been positioned into the bottom right as I
felt that was an appropriate place for it, I changed its colour to match the colour scheme of the background. Both the logo and slogan have been placed out of the way as
to not draw attention from the main subject.
