3. In my preliminary task, I used basic camera
techniques such as over-the-shoulder shots, close
ups, two shot and shot-reverse-shot. I used these
to allow the audience to engage with the
character's conversation. I used minimal camera
techniques because the interview was formal and
I wanted to create a calm and professional
atmosphere. Some of these shots were out of
time and did not flow well. However there was a
sense of continuity as I tried to make the editing
and cuts less obvious. I did this by not using any
obvious transitions. I also did not use any special
effects or music at this would have made the
interview appear informal.

4. To improve my preliminary task I would have
used more camera movement techniques
such as arc or tracking to further establish
the characters and setting. I would have also
used steady cam as the hand held filming was
quite shaky and didn’t go well with the
interview atmosphere that I was intending to
create. Finally, I would have added titles and
credits to make the video seem more
professional and real.

6. Camera techniques
In my final product, I feel that I have learnt to
use a wider range of filming techniques
appropriately. Using a montage helped me
include more camera techniques such as
zooms, high angles, long shots and close ups.
I used more camera techniques because I
wanted the opening of my film to create a
sense of uneasiness and chaos to suit the
narrative of my film, as it is about rebellious
teenagers.

7. Editing
My editing skills have improved in terms of the
way I made the clips flow and used non-
diegetic sound in the film. Editing was
important in the opening of my film as I filmed a
lot of short takes for the montage so I used fast
paced editing to make these fit in and flow well.
I also included titles and credits and transitions
which made my film seem more real. Some of
the clips in the openings of my film also had
special effects on the colour which helped me
create a sense of uneasiness and chaos.

8. What I would improve
To improve my film I would have included more
action and dialogue scenes to increase the
length of my film and adapt the narrative as my
timing was not well planned out. I would have
also improved the quality of sound for the
voiceover as this is important for the audience
to hear to understand the narrative, since we
did not use much dialogue. Overall, I feel that I
have used editing and camera techniques more
effectively and appropriately than in my
preliminary task.
