The media product challenges and develops conventions of real horror film trailers and films. It takes conventions like jump scares from trailers and recreates standard horror title sequences. The main influences were the plots of "The Strangers", which provided the desolate setting and character terrorization, and "Sinister", which influenced the dark setting, short scene transitions, and editing style. The media product adheres to horror conventions like having a lonely setting, splitting scenes with transitions, and using tense music.

In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms
and conventions of real media products?

2. • I spent some time looking at other horror films and their trailers to
get a feel of the themes running across them and the overall plots of
the trailers and in which bits of the film though show in it.
• So in my trailer where it has the scene of the person jumping out on
the main character (towards the end) I took this from the
conventional jump scare scenes of horror movies.
• Then also with my title sequence I looked at the standard sequences
used in horror movies and tried to recreate this in mine, having short
bits of text, and transitions between them.

3. • The main influences for my film were ‘Sinister’ and ‘The Strangers’ –
the overall story plot and scenery being from ‘The Strangers’ and then
the editing and shots bring similar (or at least trying to be-) similar to
‘Sinister’.
• The plot of ‘The Strangers’ is in a desolate and lonely area, like mine,
and then has the overall set up of the main character(s) being
terrorised by something- or someone.
• And then, the editing and shots of ‘Sinister’ were short transitions
between each scene and an overall ‘dark’ setting.

4. • My film trailer is located in a lonely, desolate place (hence the name
‘Desolate’) and these ideas came from ‘The Strangers’. I believe
‘Sinister’ helped me when deciding what shots I should use, and the
editing and even the time of day I should do my filming in.
