Character
• Within a horror trailer we
are introduced to all the
characters
• There again is the use of
a vulnerable person /
people and they are seen
as the victim
• There is also the use of a
evil character however,
within the film ‘scream 4’
we are shown the person
under the mask and
sometimes this is used as
a guessing game to find
out who the killer is.
Plot
• The main plot in a horror is that the
vulnerable person is to be killed in some form
by the evil character. This film shows how
some can escape from death.
• However, some of these films are unrealistic
due to the way in which people die
props
• the props used within a a
trailer may show a hint on
the way in which the
character commits his
killings.Due to the fact horror
killings tend to be cleverly
thought out. An example of
this is the way in which the
evil character uses the phone
to scare the vulnerable
person before committing his
attack.
• There is also the use
weapons again for example
the character ‘scream’ uses a
knife in many of his films and
this shows his intentions
Sound
• there is a use of dialogue within a horror trailer which
shows the story. This is the equilibrium.
• There is a use of non diegetic music is fast passed at times
of action to build up the shot and may you more on edge
• There is the use of diegetic sound which links in with the
story – for example the use of the phone ringing shows the
way in which he gets in their head
• There is also there sound of the scream which shows the
reason for the title is the way in which they scream
• Another stereotypical sound is the use of a memorable line
for the evil character – within ‘scream’ this is ‘ I here you
like horror movies.
location
• The use location is
important you can go
down the realistic
way and use actual
places which will
scare people so much
they can’t sleep this
would make it more
panicky for example
within ‘scream 4’ it is
set in homes and
schools showing the
realism
costume
• The use of costume can
be important especially
for the evil character for
example ‘scream’ uses
an easily accessible
costume again building
the realism that it could
happen. Where as other
films are known to go all
out and have an
unrealistic character
which isn’t known of to
exist.
