The document provides a self-evaluation by Charlotte Bracken of labels created for Lucozade drinks targeting different audiences. Bracken produced 3 labels using different techniques and feels her skills have improved. While she doesn't think the labels are at a professional standard yet, research and planning were effective. Feedback was gathered but not fully documented. Bracken was pleased with the style and quality of the finished labels but feels they could be improved more with additional techniques.

1. Evaluation – Lucozade Labels
I understood the brief that we were given clearly from the start, and I did meet the aim of the brief. I produced
3 different lucozade labels for FRANK, BROOK and YOUNGMINDS and took screenshots of the process and
annotated each individual screenshot to give off an explanation on what techniques and methods I used and
needed to use. Each label had a different method or technique applied to vary my skill on what I have learnt
throughout the course. During this task, I think my work has become more successful than when I first used
the methods and techniques. It’s getting one step closer to professional standards but personally I don’t think
my work it at professional standards just yet. However, I feel like I have been skilful during the work I have
done and completed. In my opinion, there is more room for improvement in my opinion as I could have spent
more time and consideration within the work to make it come to a more professional quality. The FRANK
lucozade label could of had more smoke related images combined within the image itself and a more variety
choice of photo’s to choose from.
My research was slightly effective as I learnt a lot about the product itself that the brief was set on, it helped
me have a more clear understanding on which the target audience is and what kind of idea I should do for the
3 labels I had to do myself. I did not record all the thoughts I had during the process of me working and I didn’t
think it would be relevant but I think maybe I should of wrote things down as it would show that I had a more
in depth thought about the brief and would show some of the creativity I was thinking. However, I recorded
some of the findings down that I found out within a mood board for lucozade, FRANK, BROOK and
YOUNGMINDS. These also helped me to finally decide on what I should do for my labels. I asked for a few
people’s opinions on what I had to do and some of the ideas I come up with, and I took that into consideration
but again I never wrote it down which I possibly should of again because it would show my working and what I
have done to get to the stage where I am at now.
The following stages have been effective by;
Research – This was effective as it gave me a clear in source what is expected of a profession standard
label and what it will need and take to accomplish this.
Planning – The planning was effective as it gave me a head start and an idea on what I wanted to do
within each of the labels. Having a mind map which was full of ideas which I could look at and reflect
on to finalise my idea was effective.
Preparation – Taking images of what I needed to and several of them just in case there were slight
problems with some of the ones I took, this gave me an advantage as I still could combine two images
together if one had something better than another.
Production – The production of the final labels where effective as in my opinion they have turned out
more successful than I initially planned they would. As some images where not the best quality they
could have been and the camera itself was not a high quality, I have managed to make the images
look a slight professional standard.
Time management – Time management was effective as I got the work done in a quicker time than I
thought concentration on the work which was in hand and getting on with it, helped me get through
the work quickly yet efficiently.
Project management – The work itself was organised into days or hours I would do it, I genuinely
started the work later than other people yet have had the work successfully completed before the
whole course deadline itself was over.
Monitoring work in progress – As I worked, I kept an eye on the quality of the work in progress and
kept up to date on what work I had not completed and the work I had completed. Making time to

2. complete unfinished work was effective as it’s all done and I can carry on with other work which may
need to be completed.
Technical competencies & Creative Ability – Each technical competency is different from another as I
have shown a variety of different techniques used and never used the same one twice within any of
the labels completed. I have tried keeping a wide option open on what I can use to show the creativity
ability I can do and I have gone through to get to this stage.
The artwork I can successfully end up with is a better standard than I originally thought it would be when
completed. It looks more professional and efficient than I thought it would when mi was getting ideas together
and through the development stages. I personally think it does work for the intended audience as it is not to
graphical and isn’t too childish which can relate to a really young audience. Using an older actor/actress to
take photos of has worked well and also the younger actress I used as the intended target audience can relate
to that and also other people in the same situation. I am very pleased with the style of my work as it is finished
and the way it looks. In my eyes I feel like its better than I could ever do. However, I would try and improve it a
lot more if I had the chance to redo it again and maybe use more techniques which can enable my work to
look a professional standard in what people would pay for. My work is ready for print as it is completely
finished and I don’t wish to change any of it.
