Conclusion
 My outcomes don’t look very differently to famous
magazine, the layout of the pages are looking
very similar but however the background of my
contents page includes the photo of the main
artist in the magazine which is different to Q
 magazine design
2. How does your media product represent particular
social groups?
 I have represented mostly teenagers and young adults 16-
25 who prefer listening to rap/hip-hop in my magazine. I
decided to choose this particular music as it is easier for
me to do research on it as it is my type of music which I
like the most. Mostly I aimed at males but also there are
females who would like to read my magazine as well.
 I have shown this particular social group by dressing up
my model as a rapper with a flat top hat. This kind of
clothing represents stereotypical rappers and suits my
magazine style. On my front cover I decided to use mainly
black, yellow and white as this colours are popular in our
days especially by teenagers. My front cover doesn’t look
very busy, because I have included only main cover lines
in which my audiences will be interested.
 The language used in my magazine is informal in
which teenagers speak. I tried to make my
magazine suitable for my audience, I didn’t use
long sentences, only texts with main ideas of the
magazine, to make it straight forward
3. What kind of institution might distribute your media
product and why?
 While doing my research I have seen some
rap/hip-hop magazine which works for same
social groups and are based on same type of
music and singers. So I tried to base on
examples and designed my own magazine.
 Bauer Media Group publishes Q, Kerrang!
Q and The Sound have very similar design and are
  based on same music
 Vibe, can publish my magazine as well as it is using
very similar style and it features rap/hip-hop music
 They can be interested in working with my magazine
because The Sound reviews new coming up singers
and it could be interesting to read about
4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
 The magazine is targeted at both sex between 16-25 who
is interested in rap/hip-hop music. The price isn’t very high
so my audience can afford it and it is published every
month. Teenagers are the most interested in celebrities
this why my magazine is going to talk about them, kind of
reviewing them and interviewing new coming up stars. I
decided to use for a front cover a model which is
representing my audience social group. He is a singer, 18
years old. Also my magazine always have a bonus zone
where my readers can get free gifts or discounts for
concerts. My main topics are about reviewing singers and
some exclusive interviews. From this articles audience can
find there role model and achieve their goals by reading
  advices from famous people.
5.How did you attract/address your
audience?
 Mostly people make a decision to buy a magazine by
looking at its cover. It means that the cover must be
attracting and bright. That’s why I made it eye’s catching
by adding a large masthead and my chosen colours are
making a nice combination which will attract buyers. Also
my front covers contains the cover line about excusive
interview and top 50 songs of 2011. I didn’t made it look
very busy so people can see the photo of my model. His
facial expressions show that he is cool but at same time he
looks fresh and vibrant. While writing my interview I must
remember that mostly teenagers are going to read The
Sound, so I used a kind of chatty language with interesting
questions to make less boring. My main target is to make
my magazine more friendly and interesting.
 To be sure that my magazine is interesting for my
target audience I made some polls and
questionnaires and asked my classmates to
answer them. From there feedback I designs my
pages. Every opinion was included and it was
 very helpful.
6. What have your learnt about technologies from the
process of constructing this product?
 I have used a lot of programmes to create my
  magazine.
 Photoshop - I have some experience how to work with
it from last primary task. But this time I have learnt
new skills to make my photos look better.
 InDesign – I used this programme to create my
DPS. I have never used it before so it was my
first time using it and it went fine. It took some
time to understand all buttons and functions but in
the end I design my DPS and it looks good.
 Blogger – firstly we needed to customise our own
webpage and I was fun. I found this programme
very useful as it helped me to organise my work
and I could ask people to answer my questions
easier. On the tools is making pools and it is
useful to collect people’s opinion. Every time I
uploaded my new work people commented on it
and using their feedback I could continue my
 work.
 Publisher – I had to use Publisher before so I have enough
skills to create a new page of any type. I didn’t really found
it useful so mostly I was using Photoshop. But sometimes I
used it to analyse my texts.
 Word – I used this programme to write my interview.
 Camera – I am not very good at using it but after
practising with it I managed to create good
pictures and use them for my work. Mostly I was
 using the school’s camera Nikon550D.
7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you
feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full
       product?
        Old  New

Well, I can tell that during this year I have learnt new skills, so I used them to create
the music magazine front cover and it is looking better that my old one. The Sound
looks more professional as I used better colours and the photo has better quality.
The Sound looks more like a music magazine as I has a barcode, a good
masthead, better layout.
