1. How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary
texts?
2. Consistency
When creating the music video and ancillary tasks
consistency was always in mind. For the ancillary talks we
used images that are very similar to the shots in our music
video. All photos of Tyler have been taken from the same
angle and with the same pose in mind
3. Comparison between mise on scene in the
Music video and the ancillary tasks - Location
Urban city location is conveyed over all parts of the project, very similar to Blink 182’s
use of location in “all the small things”
With Tyler looking out over the city it reinforces the theme of loneliness and troubled
feelings
Urban car park location is very recognisable this lets the target
audience relate it
4. Comparison between mise on scene in the
Music video and the ancillary tasks - Clothing
Tyler smart shirt and jeans connotes
professional young look of todays iconic
man
Both actors wear smart but casual clothing,
this lets our target audience relate them
and still fits the alternative conventions
We chosen clothing that was fashionable but not designer as this is what other bands
from our genre have done, For example the script
5. Comparison between mise on scene in the
Music video and the ancillary tasks - Narrative
The narrative of our music video followed a failing relationship, Tyler is now looking back
on his past memories. He feels troubled and trapped by his emotions.
We used underwater shots as a
metaphorical extension of the lyrics
treading water as Tyler feels he’s
emotions are over coming him
6. Comparison between mise on scene in the
Music video and the ancillary tasks - Themes
Throughout the video and ancillary task we a have loneliness and scenes of trouble emotions
this is clearly shown in the narrative of out music video.
The majority of music video in this are similar to this as they have theme of break ups,
unrequited love and or other strong emotional times. A example of this would be Linkin
Park’s numb, about a classic break up.
