Advantages And Disadvantages Of Private Label Brands
1.INTRODUCTION
An Indian retail industry is one of the fast emerging sector across the world. Retail industry in
India is anticipated to grow up to US$ 950 billion by 2018, with the compound annual growth
rate (CAGR) of 8.9 per cent from year 2000 to 2018. (IBEF, 2015) The online retail market is
anticipated to grow from US$ 3.1 billion to US$ 22 billion (from approximately 10 per cent to
more than 15 per cent of the organized retail market) during FY2013 to FY2018.(IBEF, 2015).
There has been a considerable growth in Private Label brands in last few years worldwide. Private
Label Brands (PLBs) are growing faster than National or Manufacturer s brands. They are
becoming more popular nowadays. Private Labels have gained an increased market share and
are growing at a rapid rate. Private labels brands are completely owned products by the retailer
they are manufactured, operated and sold by the retailers (generally known as self label brands,
store brands of dealers or retailer s brands. (Kumar and Steenkamp, 2007).
A Private Label is defined as the product owned and sold by the retailers under their own stores or
outlets . According to the Private Label Manufacturer s Association (PLMA), Private Label
Products contains all merchandise sold under the name of retailer s brand. That brand can be ...

James Dickey All American Poet Essay
James Dickey All American Poet James Dickey was an American Poet whose life has been very
diverse, and in his poetry that diversity is shown. He has a lifestyle that most poets do not get to
experience. He has lived in many states and countries. That gives me the reason to think that his
poetry resembles this life s diversity.
James Lafayette Dickey, III was born in the town of Atlanta, Georgia on February 2, 1923. His
parents were Maibelle and Eugene Dickey. He went to Ed S. Cook Elementary School and North
Fulton High School as a kid, both of which are in Atlanta. He was athletic as a child. He played

Northbridge, California. He returned to teaching in 1965 at University of Wisconsin, in
Milwaukee. He only taught there for a year because he becomes Poet in Residence at the
University of Wisconsin, Madison. He received a high honor that only a few poets get when he
becomes Consultant in Poetry at the Library of Congress or Poet Laurate until 1968. He was then

Policy Proposal for Economic Reform in Russia Essay
Policy Proposal for Economic Reform in Russia
Despite making a recovery after the 1998 market crash, Russia remains weighted with numerous
holdovers from the Communist era that keep its economy from taking advantage of free market
reforms. In short, Russia has not prospered under capitalism because it has not yet discovered it. In
order to do so, the Russian government must engage in extensive reform in several key areas:
improving the rule of law, creating stable monetary policy, and ending a policy of favoritism to
particular businesses. Engaging in these reforms would lower the extremely high transaction costs
of doing business legally, stimulating a wave of new investment and wealth creation within Russia,
as well as encouraging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lack of clearly defined and enforced property rights is another major problem. The communist
era criminal code has only been partially replaced, and each contract must be carefully examined to
check whether it contradicts an ever shifting mess of regulations. In addition, it is unclear what
success the communists will have in the next election, so long term planning is very difficult
because the future is so unpredictable.
Despite an ambitions privatization program, many of the large factories remain state owned, partly
because of the fact that their outdated and inefficient production would immediately and properly
put them out of business under a free market. However, because the government has so much
influence over the banks, it keeps funding these inefficient enterprises to earn the support of the
many workers they hire. Many of the factories that were privatized, simply signed ownership to
their communist bosses, and because of their pull with the government, stay alive by government
aid.
Despite all the issues mentioned above, the biggest challenge to Russian economic growth is
probably its monetary policy. The Russian central bank is a direct holdover from Soviet times and
needs to change its policy drastically to adapt to a free market economy. In a capitalist economy,
private banks serve to store money and provide investment to business. Because banks lose their
investment when a debtor defaults, they are careful to insure that entrepreneurs

Assistive Technology Theory
Theory of Action:
Many college students struggle with the reading, writing, and organizational skills and
competencies needed to perform at a high level in college. Assistive technology is shown to
improve the performance of students with disabilities in those areas. If we introduce assistive
technology solutions to all college students, their performance in college level classes will increase
leading to higher retention and graduation rates.

Immunodeficiency Syndrome In The Film Philadelphia
The film Philadelphia is about a young man named Andy who has acquired immunodeficiency
syndrome also known as AIDs. He does not inform anyone at his workplace that he has this
disease, as he is afraid of how he would be treated if people knew. Lesions begin to appear on his
face and he tells a coworker it was from getting hit with a tennis racquet. One day, a complaint
Andy had written and was needed for court vanished and all traces of it were mysteriously gone
until one copy was located miraculously and gotten to court just in time. Soon after he was
fired. The company claims he was fired due to that incident, but Andy knew someone had
meddled with his report as it was completed and put on his desk. Andy believes he was fired
because of his illness and hires a lawyer to make a case against the company for discrimination.
Joe, the lawyer, wins the case, and Andy very soon passes away. I believe this film encompasses
advocacy. More specifically, the movie shows self advocacy by Andy wanting to start a case to
show how wrongly he was being treated, and professional advocacy as Joe works for Andy and
others with this disease to bring about justice. They were showing that those who have AIDswere

great to see that others were willing to fight for Andy and knew that this discrimination was unfair
and wrong. It is crazy to think that this population was often treated like this in the past. They
would lose their jobs one because they had the illness and two because the business felt as though
the person would not have a future prospect for the company due to the illness being deadly. I am
glad that that does not seem to occur in today s times, but I am sure some discrimination does still

How Cultures Influence to Organization Development Success...
How cultures influence to Organization Development success in Asian countries? Organization
Development (OD) is one of many American management techniques utilized in many part of the
world. To setting this American origin techniques in different culture always has problem. Some of
the biggest challenges for developing theories with cross cultural relevance come in the area of
organizational studies. Differences in behavior, work values, and culturehave been studied by many
researchers in many different countries. Several frameworks have proven useful for understanding
cultural differences. (E.g. Youker, Mclean and Hofstede) Specific OD interventions are then

Culture is usually long term, strategic, and difficult to change. It is rooted in beliefs and values. An
organizational culture also represents the shared sense of the way we do things around here, a
critical factor guiding day to day behavior and shaping a future course of action. From the several
papers that I have read about attempt to adapt OD to use in Asian countries, I found that state
owned enterprise in China have successful in setting OD practice. This company reveals that they
use OD and other western techniques in creating a shared vision, establishing a performance based
human resource management system, and standardizing budgetary and cost control procedures.
The success of the company s change effort is largely attributed to leadership, standardization of
management systems, commitment to learning and training, and partnership with an OD
expert.(Jia Wang, 2010) McLean from university of Minnesota (2000) explored reasons for OD s
failure in 7 Thailand companies he found that many OD practices did not work well in Thai
organizations because of the culture, open communication in Thai culture is very difficult and
participation is limited due to the respect given to hierarchy in Thai organizations. Also the

How Mergers Affect The Economic And Financial Power Of...
Mergers have become a main aspect within the market economies, resulting in consequences that
are potentially conflicting due to the stiff competition among different businesses (Richard Yekini,
2014, p. 54). The conventional economic theory suggests that mergers are likely to raise the level
of monopoly, hence leading to reduced competition and lower economic efficiency. The truth is
that they can boost the effective level of competition within the monopolistic environment where
size is an important factor. This means that in the case of markets that have a small number of
large producers that are involved in competition, mergers can play a vital role in increasing the
economic and financial power of smaller firms. This enables the small firms to compete
favourably with the larger ones. Therefore, mergers are able to produce a countervailing force to
fight the leading firms, putting more pressure on them, and making them look for other ways to
constantly make improvements in their efficiency. This is similar to the way many small
businesses behave as a result of competition in highly competitive markets. This paper elaborates
the reasons that motivate firms to take over or merge with other firms and the effects of this, both
to the employees and the firms involved (Su Wells, 2014, p.46). This will be established by
examination of specific recent acquisition or merger cases within EU member countries, putting
into consideration a number of these aspects. The major driver

Getting For Yes, By Roger Fisher And Looking Behind The...
Roger Fisher and William Ury s book, Getting to Yes, proposes a variety of negotiation strategies
and tools. The authors break their method down into four procedures and demonstrate them in
common negotiation scenarios. They encourage readers to break away from the two extremes of
soft and hard bargaining to seek a third approach. They call the third approach principled
negotiation or negotiation on the merits . I submit that the procedures proposed in Getting to Yes
alternatively break down to two simplistic themes, Emotional Chess and Looking Behind the
Curtain, which are broadly applicable in contemporary negotiation. Additionally, I submit that
within the authors procedures are four tactics which vary in applicability... Show more content on

Only after this can healing and forward progress be made without risk of past emotions infecting
negotiations. The best way to address emotional issues is to acknowledge them as a legitimate by
allowing both sides to air their grievances without interruption and without criticism. This process
also allows both sides to empathize with the other s position and potentially remove prejudices
and assumptions. Additionally, this airing can unearth common interests between the parties
which they assumed were issues of conflict. This strategy does require caution, however, which
is not suggested by the authors; this issue is addressed in Part 3. When playing Emotional Chess,
it is important to avoid the topic of trust. Trust is often regarded in Western cultures as a
cornerstone of relationships and is a deep seated principle. In negotiations, however, it can be
used as a tactic to fuel emotions and re enlist egos into the negotiation fray. A party s reply of Don
t you trust me? to an inquiry of proposition s rationale, raises principle above reason and logic.
Even if innocently used, this reply places the responding party into an uneasy position. To sidestep
this emotional landmine, parties should jointly seek independent criteria to assess their rationale
and the situation at hand. This joint search aims the parties energies at the problem opposed to

It s Time to Abolish Speed Limits Essay
It s Time to Abolish Speed Limits

Tyler. About halfway there, Paul notices a state trooper right behind him. He frantically checks his
speed! Too late!!!!!! The state trooper turns on his lights. Not only was Paul speeding, but now he
will be late to a very important meeting at work.
The problem here is that Paul was just driving to work. He was not intentionally speeding just to

people go through this very scenario. They are ticketed for driving safely although faster than the

First of all, have you ever noticed that if you travel on Interstate 45 or on Interstate 20 for a long
enough distance that there is always construction dealing with the resurfacing or complete
revamping of the roadway. Have you ever wondered why they are working on the road or
thought that it was just another government scam to cost the taxpayers more money? The
common thought asserted here is that higher speeds create more wear and tear on the roadways.
Another factor of speeding is damage inflicted on cars while drivers are driving fast. This side
asserts that the faster the car runs, the harder the engine works; the harder the engine, works the
more wear the car takes. This may have been true with automobiles made several years ago, but
the cars and trucks manufactured today are quality automobiles. They are tested very rigorously
in order to withstand wear and tear. Second, the government would also like us to believe that
driving high speeds causes more deaths than driving slowly. According to the Transportation
Accident Commission, Last year Victoria recorded its worst road toll in a decade, with speed
being the main cause of fatalities (36%) and serious injury (33%). (Transport Accident
Commission) This group is asserting that a person speeding is more likely to cause death than a
person not speeding. According to P.E. Spitz:

How Do Ocean Currents Affect The Climate System
The Way of the Ocean
Ry Cox
11/17/15
Ocean currents are a very big part of the world s oceans. Ocean currents move water, circulating
around the globe pushing warm and cold water all around. These ocean currents are driven by the
rise and fall of tides, wind, the sun, energy, surface currents, and subsurface currents. But how does
the temperature of the ocean currents affect the ocean? All of these make up ocean currents and
help it affect the climate system. Ocean currents also affect the climate system by circulating
around the world and using what it is driven by. Without ocean currents there would not be enough
moisture or energy in the world.

(Ocean Currents) Right now oceans are being affected by global warming, and not in a good way.
Global warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth s atmosphere generally
attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide,
chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants. (Google Dictionary) Some of the many things are
being affected in the ocean. Like the sea levels, coastlines, ocean acidification, sea water, sea
temperatures, tides, the sea floor, the weather, and ocean currents. (Wikipedia) Over the past
century it has been seen that sea levels have risen by a lot because of global warming and that
has contributed to the temperature increases of the ocean. The ocean has started to get warmer
and warmer. Studies have shown that global warming might be changing the direction of the
Atlantic Ocean currents and that can disturb sea life and land. As warmer water is coming onto
cold water places in the ocean, the warm water is pushing the cold water way. Tides and waves
are made by surface currents and subsurface currents and help the ocean currents move. (Currents)
The temperature of the ocean currents is a big part because it helps make the circulation pattern as
the currents move around. (Pidwirny) What makes the ocean currents spin in a circular formation
and move to different parts of the ocean is called a gyre. Gyres are what

Flexible spending account FSA and health savings accounts HSA have some similarities, but
they are different. They both have a limit to the amount you can contribute and both offers

Business Law Case Study
Business Law Case Study In the case presented, Biff Smith, the Chief of Police of the local
department ordered a set of bicycles off of a local storeowner, Dirk Right. This was no simple
order though, in fact Biff intended on starting a bike patrol unit within the local department. Biff
went to Dirks Bicycle shop to place an order. The order was for five mountain bikes to be used
for patrol so they had to be custom made in order to sport the police decals. Biff was very
familiar with the Schwinn bicycle company so he asked Dirk to order him five top of the line
bikes at the best price . This simple statement implied that Biff not only wanted the bikes but he

against Biff despite the price being an excess of $500, (under Revised article 2). Analyzing the
case with all elements in mind, we concluded that a contract was in fact created. Dirk, who is
pursuing Biff in court, will put up a case due to the oral contract that was indeed made. In this
case there is no need for a written contract because Biff verbally agreed to buy five Schwinn
custom police mountain bikes specially ordered by Dirk. For this non resellable goods
exception to apply, the seller, Dirk, must have made a substantial beginning in manufacturing
the goods. To show this is true, Dirk went out of his way to create an order for Biff that was
special for the Police department, and by doing so, Dirk cannot return/resell the bikes, and he is
at a loss of $17,500. The most important factor working in Dirks favor is the letter he received
from the local PBA. The end of the letter had a hand written signature thanking Dirk for ordering
the bikes. This is hard evidence that a deal was made because the note brings up the agreement for
the bikes in writing and is signed by the second party, Biff. Dirk has enough evidence to bring Biff

Government sometimes announces a variety of regulations that could cause impacts on industry. As
to automotive industry, government regulations, such as improving protection for safety and fuel
consumption and improve emission against air pollution, have increased total cost to car products.
As is seen from above figure which is statistically made by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics
(BLS), the middle part shows the average price of a car with no regulated improvements in 1967.
The lower part represents the value of added protection for safety and polluting emissions
equipments. The upper part is the price due to non regulated improvements together with other
quality and price increases. It is obvious that the government regulations have brought large
influences on the price of car products.
3)Vote for new president [5]
In early days, automobile manufactures hope governments to build public roads to stimulate
customers demands. Road building was sometimes also influenced by political ideologies. If the
government could take policies and actions to improve transportation system, the auto industry
could be benefited very much. That is why the voting of president could affect car industry. Once
the new elected president who supports to increase government spending on roads wins on voting,
whole auto industry in this country could have a brilliant future.

What Is Joan Of Arc Essay
Joan of Arc (born Jeanette d Arc) was a saint and the national heroine of France in the early 1400
s Joan was born on January 6th 1412, during the Hundred Year War. She became a brilliant war

believed that the voices delivered messages from God. This eventually become her downfall

1979 Education
Education policy has developed in the UK since the Thatcher period because when Margaret
Thatcher became Prime Minister, the governance of education was largely unchanged since the first
world war. In schools, there was no national curriculum, no parental choice, no systematic means of
monitoring performance, no publication of examination results beyond what schools themselves
chose to reveal. Local authorities drew up catchment areas, and they decided which children went to
which school, and distributed funds, specifying what should be spent on teachers salaries, repairs,

Safety is one of the main purposes of electronic surveillance. Safety is the state of being secure and

are used in many places to ensure safety. For instance, a parent can easily place a hidden camera

Some say that the key to success on preventing terrorism, or any crime for that matter, is the use
of massive surveillance enforcement (Someone s Watching). For instance, airlines have used
the Computer Assisted Pre Screening System (CAPS) to spot any dangerous passengers that
have checked into the airline. Additionally, metal detectors are heavily used in airlines to check
for any weapons that a terrorist might use. Video cameras that capture faces and license plates
found all throughout the airport are now equipped with a software that allows images to be

are present in every corner of the airport to monitor all irregular activities. Some also believe that
having a floating eye in the sky could prove to be a major deterrent in the war on terror when
talking about aerial surveillance (Surveillance Tech). Moreover, these surveillance tools are not
only used in airlines to prevent crime. These surveillance gadgets can also be used to prevent
other crimes such as robberies, trespassing, assaults, and shopliftings everywhere. In fact, with

The more molecules that are able to escape into the vapor, the greater the decrease in
temperature due to evaporative cooling. Thus, a larger negative О”T corresponds to a substance
in which the IMFs are weak. A greater number of electrons correspond to a great polarizability of
a molecule. Greater polarizability leads to greater dispersion forces. Thus, as molar mass increases,
the number of electrons increase, which increases the polarizability of the molecule and hence the
strength of the dispersion forces of the substance. 4. In Molecular Series II (Branched Chain
Alcohols): As you go through the group from 1 butanol пѓ sec butanol пѓ 1 ter butanol: A. The
dipole moments, surface area (shape), steric hindrances, and change in temperature (degree of
evaporative cooling) affect IMF strength and are changing from one molecule to the next. B.
Claim: As we go from 1 butanol пѓ sec butanol пѓ 1 ter butanol the dipole moments and the

How Did Isaac Newton Contribute To The Creation Of Atomic...
Many different scientists contributed to the atomic theory known today. Every single one of them
played an important role in creating the atomic theory known today. Around 400 BCE Leucippus,
the scientist who originally came up with the atomic theory, began to lay a foundation for the
theory known today. Then, Democritus adopted the ideas of Leucippus , his mentor. Democritus
soon developed the idea of an atom. Democritus believed everything was made up tiny particles of
matter, he called these particles atoms. He chose this name because, in Greek, atom means
indivisible. After Democritus, Isaac Newton was the next scientist to contribute to the atomic
theory. Isaac Newton began to realize that atoms were constantly moving and were not... Show

His work helped to contribute to the modern understanding of the atomic theory. Thus, at the
points A B C and D the electron would be subjected to maximum repulsive and attractive forces
while the positions a b and c would be stable But once disturbed from one of the latter positions
the electron would oscillate for a while and finally shift over into a new position of equilibrium At
the distance OE the curve representing the force exerted on the electron would become practically
the same as that corresponding to Coulomb s law Such a law of force might thus explain radiation
phenomena and perhaps the raison d etre of the constant h in the quantum theory. In 1905 Albert
Einstein was the next scientist to contribute to the atomic theory findings. His work on the theory
of relativity became the basis of nuclear energy. In 1909 came the following important discovery,
the discovery of the nucleus. Ernest Rutherford started to form an idea of the structure of an atom.
Rutherford used the scattering of alpha particles when shot through gold foil to discover the
structure of an atom, he called this experiment the gold foil experiment. Rutherford also decided to
call Thompson s + particles protons. P+ is another symbol that means

1950s Home Appliances
Home Appliances
1950s was a decade of great technological development.
1950s home appliances raised standards of living and released housewives from the strain of
household chores.
The most representative item would have been the washing machine. This was a massive time
saver and allowed women to keep up to date with the cleaning, to keep a comfortable home and do
all the cooking as well as having some leisure time.
They were very populous in America but it wasn t until the 1950s that it was introduced in
Australia, Almost every home appliance was invented in earlier years overseas and introduced to
Australia later.

Technology
The television industry had been established in America in the 1940s. After WW2 they quickly

The Rise Of The 19th Century Essay
The 14th century Renaissance1 was a transformational period in European history during which
society experienced a resurgence of classical beliefs which altered Europe s literature, science,
religion, politics, and especially art. The word Renaissance is defined as a revival or rebirth; the
period before, known as the Middle Ages, was characterized by feudalism, power of the Catholic
Church, and plague. However, as a result of the widespread loss of life caused by the Black Death,
there was a rapid growth of commerce, invention, and scholarship. Both men and women returned
to classical values and its humanist style of thinking, the appreciation of human capabilities as
opposed to the divine or supernatural matters, and ultimately worked towards becoming a
Renaissanceman or woman . Those people who spent their lives expanding their horizons embodied
the core values of the period and influenced much of modern day society. Leonardo Da Vinciwas
one of the greatest of these Renaissance men; his principles and work the Vitruvian man, cannons,
the aerial screw, and the Mona Lisa shaped the Renaissance in many ways: socially, politically, and
theologically, and scientifically. His works not only represented the period, they affected the
continuance of the Renaissance.
Leonardo Da Vinci2 was born on April 15th, 1452 to a Florentine notary and an unmarried peasant
woman named Caterina out of wedlock in Anchiano, Tuscany. His mother considered him an
illegitimate child; so at

A Research Study On Sordaria Fimicola
Introduction
Sordaria fimicola is a commonly studied species of fungi from the phylum of Ascomycota,
commonly known as the sac fungi or ascomycetes. Sordaria is more specifically studied in many
mycology labs to gain a greater understanding of the exceptional formation of as many as 8
haploid ascospores. Normally Sordaria and other fungi exists as a haploid organism, but
occasionally when the mycelium from two individuals meet, a diploid zygote is formed. The
diploid cell is formed by the fusion of the haploid wildtype and one of the haploid mutant strain.
After DNA replication, we are left with two sister chromatids connected with a centromere. During
meiosis a process called synapsis occurs. Synapsis allows matching up of two homologous pairs of
chromosomes prior to their segregation, and possible genetic recombination amongst them by
breaking and then reconnecting to the other chromosome thus allowing for crossing over to occur.
The further away a gene is from the centromere, the more frequently the crossing over can occur.
Both meiosis I and meiosis II generates four haploid products, and after one further round of
mitosis, eight products are formed and all retained as haploid together forming a reproductive
structure called a perithecium.
Genetic recombination can ultimately lead to the production of traits in the new generation that
differ from those found paternally or maternally. One of the benefits of synapsis (or chromosomal
crossover) is the formation of new

Muscle Protein Synthesis
As previously mentioned, WPHs are pre digested to a degree, meaning that the resulting amino
acids are more quickly distributed to skeletal muscles. This positively impacts the rate of rate of
muscle protein synthesis after exercise. The way this process works is broken into two main steps
transcription and translation (Editors, 2011). In transcription, DNA is unzipped (opened), and with
the help of the enzyme RNA polymerase, messenger RNA, or mRNA, is created by pairing
complementary nucleotides using the DNA as an instructional template . This step does not require
amino acids, but is necessary to briefly mention in order to give context to the second step.
Translation involves the mRNA binding to ribosomes in the cytoplasm of the musclecell. Here,
transfer RNA, or tRNA, molecules also bind to the ribosome. The order... Show more content on

First of all, WPHs are effective scavengers of molecules with free radicals in the body (Tang et
al, 2012) due to their hydrophobicity. Secondly, reducing power is significant in WPHs, so that
when these free radicals are found, they are eliminated effectively. In cells, oxygen is needed for
many processes, but there are side effects of frequent exposure to the molecule, namely the
formation of free radicals. These highly reactive molecules have an unpaired electron, allowing
them to interact freely with and do damage to lipid molecules, particularly ones with double
bonds. Since cell membranes have a high lipid content, they are at risk without antioxidant
protection. Tang et al (2012) showed that WPHs from peanut peptides effectively scavenge and
reduce hydroxyl radicals (most dangerous) and 2, 2 diphenyl 1 picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals.
The latter of the two is particularly notable, as The model of scavenging stable DPPH radical is a
widely used method to evaluate antioxidant activities in a relatively short time compared with other
methods. (p.

The Assessment And The Myers Briggs Type Indicator
Motivation is a subject that researchers, practitioners, and organizations have spent an
unprecedented amount of money on researching, assessing, modeling and working to understand
human behavior and performance. With all the research, there is not a quick answer or even full
agreement as to what exactly motivates individuals to be successful. The extensive amount of
research has included studies across a variety of work settings and at the level of the individual, the
group, and the organization leaving us with many theories to explore. Researchers have identified
and agreed upon that individual behavior and personality relate to individual performance. I am no

Pros And Cons Of Welding
Welding process Pros/Cons
The list of welding applications can be quite extensive. For the most part it can be broken down in
three main categories. Arc, Oxyfuel, Resistance, and Solid state welding. And the benefits of
automated welding can be in four main categories. Such benefits include, a decrease in scrap costs,
a decrease in labor costs, improvement on the quality of welds, and increased output of production.
Automated welding offers a more precise and clean weld and the welder given that it is a
machine, does not get tired or worn out and make human errors. With a company that purchases
the welder, over time the automated welder pays for itself and can run for hours on end producing
the same quality of weld and the same speed and pace that it is set for.

It is also the most common form of welding and easily learned. The equipment itself can be carried
into a confined space. The cost of shielding gas is also not required since the flux coating offers the
shielding requirements needed to sustain the arc. This process is also commonly used on most
metals and alloys.
Oxyfuel/Acetylene offers such benefits as not electrodes required for the welding process. It can
be done at all angle and used on thicker materials. The sub category abrasive water jet welding uses
no heat for the process.
Resistance Welding has a high production rate and set speed can be placed for production timing.
It can be easily automated for machines and for the most part it can be economical.
Solid State Welding uses extreme pressure to join two parenting metals together. The bond is free
from defects of the microstructure. It also uses no flux material, shielding gas or filler metals.
Although all forms of welding have their advantages, there are still disadvantages. Each one comes
with a certain downfall.

Environmental Justice and Toxic Racism
Environmental Justice and Toxic Racism
Encouraged by diverse foundations from across the globe, The Environmental Justice movement
has become one of the most important topics in the media. Europeans have used Marxist
philosophy on class laddering, while non Western countries required its encouragement in the
criticism of colonialism. In the United States, The Civil Rights Movement was its forerunner. The
notion of Environmental Justice , nevertheless, has its genesis in the resistance of black culture and
lower income communities in opposition to uneven ecological trouble in the United States during
the last few years of the 1970s and the early 1980s. In the framework of racial improvement and

One of the first influences on the deliberation on Environmental Justice was The Civil Rights
Movement in the United States of America. Leaders like Martin Luther King, Jr. fought hard to
ensure that social transformation and power be established for African Americans, especially those
in the southern states as well as those in the northern inner city parts. Activists like King altered the
philosophy on Environmental Justice arguing that there was a lopsided effect that proved that
environmental hazards were not accidental. What environmentalists advocated instead was that
environmental dangers resulted from racial segregation that placed power plants, nuclear plants,
and other potential ecological hazards in areas with a high concentration of minority and low
income groups. Several activists defined this as environmental racism. The earliest reference to
environmental racism originated in Warren County, North Carolina, in 1982. A mainly African
American neighborhood rallied to protest the construction of a noxious waste landfill. The
community was well backed with the support of the United Church of Christ. The remonstration
resulted in well over five hundred arrests for civil disobedience. Its impact caused other

The film s opening scene shows him being given two life sentences for the murder of his wife
and her lover, and then we move, permanently, to a point of view representing the prison
population and particularly the lifer Ellis Red Redding. It is his voice remembering the first
time he saw Andy ( looked like a stiff breeze would blow him over ), and predicting, wrongly, that
he wouldn t make it in prison. (Ebert, 1999). The story takes place in a prison in Ohio back in
1946. The category of irony used in this film is situational irony which Situational irony occurs
when we expect one thing to happen and something else does. (Goodykoontz, amp; Jacobs, 2011
Ch. 2.4). The Shawshank is about Andy, but it is but the story isn t through his own eyes, had
this film been through the eyes of Andy it would have turned out completely different, this plays
a large part in the situational irony because Red is our surrogate. He s the one we identify with,
and the redemption, when it comes, is Red s. We ve been shown by Andy s example that you
have to keep true to yourself, not lose hope, bide your time, set a quiet example and look for your
chance. I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really, he tells Red. Get busy livin or get busy

Ontology vs. Epistemology
Ontology deals with questions concerning what entities exist or can be said to exist. What do
we know? What are we certain of? What can we prove? What is the nature of existence?
Epistemology is the study of knowledge. How do we know what we know? How can we
establish truth and certainty? Are their limits to what we can know based on how we come to
know it? These epistemological questions when combined with ontological questions have
philosophers pondering what exists and how we know it exists. In A Certain Ambiguity, by
Gaurav Suri and Hartosh Singh Bal, there was a constant question of proof. How do you go about
proving something? Well the book suggests that it is only possible to prove something if you have
a set of accepted axioms.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first half of this quote explains that idea in a different way, Each society thought that their
way was the natural way, the absolute way, and the certain way, but Protagoras and Sophists
realized that one way was not anymore certain or real than any other way. They went on to
generalize that every human idea is relative to the circumstances surrounding the originator of
the idea, and that true knowledge is unattainable. (pg. 42) The second half of the quote intrigued
me. People are too dependent on one another to formulate or recognize new truths. The movie
Flatland showed how people s thoughts and ideas are limited to what they can see and what
they experience. The circles were powerful and influential and clearly knew they could control
the thoughts of their people. The circumstance surrounding the idea of the existence of the 3rd
dimension was the shapes were to be punished if they disobeyed the circles and tried to prove
there was a 3rd dimension. When someone finally stood out and fought to prove the existence of
the new dimension, was when the people followed along because the new truth made more sense.
If people keep looking at certainty with an oh look, something shiny attitude they are going to
continue to be pawns in someone s game and are never really going to increasing their knowledge.
Oh look, something shiny is used to express the way people react when they are told a new truth.

The Creation Of The World Bank
The creation of The World Bank was an attempt to remedy the wealth disparities facing African
nations, and open new markets for international trade. Africa s economic stagnation calls for a shift
in paradigm, leaning towards sustained economic growth. It is only through the sustained growth of
these economies that the World Bankcan claim success. This essay will assess the meaning of
failed development, effects of trade liberalization and the impact that multi national corporations
have had on African countries. Imposing neo liberalism on African nations has led to a lack of
sustainable development due to its ability to proliferate complex interdependency and

Rowing Reflection
. Rowing has always been a type of personal thermostat and stress reliever for me, I did it almost
selfishly. That is why, when the team held captain elections halfway through my first semester, I
did not vote for myself, I was not on the team because I aspired to be a captain. And further more,
when I received over 75% of the votes, I was shocked. I was one of the newest members of the
team and I was not a vocal team member by any measure. Still, I accepted and we had a great
year with a 6th place finish at nationals. It taught me that leadership is not something you choose,
it chooses you. When choosing a captain the team wanted someone they could emulate and who
s is motives they never had to question. I was a hard worker, and though I did not request it, my
team started to align themselves behind me. From then on whether leadership was or was not the
reason I was concerned with rowing, leadership became my responsibility out of immediate
consequence of my personality. This turned out to be one of the most valuable lessons of my
college career. Boston College Varsity Men s Rowing taught me leadership is never for or about
the leader. It is about the team. (~36 hrs/week)

Essay On Latino Youth Smoking
Methods
This study will be conducted to find the correlation between Latino youths and smoking. The
hypothesis for this study will be Youths of Latino origin are more likely to have a higher smoking
rate. To assess what sets an individual at risk for smoking and what ethnicity is more at risk, three
additional research questions will be used to understand the association with Latino youths and
smoking. For example, Do youths that are of Latino origin compared to those who are not,
experience higher levels of smoking? Do peer relationships within Latino youth influence their rate
of smoking? Do Latino females in comparison to Latino males have a higher susceptibility rate for
beginning smoking?

variables that will be used in the analysis include sex and rate of beginning smoking. The first
research question will be analyzed using a one way ANOVA, the second research question will
be analyzed using a chi square test and the last research question will be analyzed using a chi
square test as well. The data being categorical is what determines the test above. By converting
the SAS data to excel, the test will run on Graph Pad Prism 7 to show the association between

A Political Factor That Influenced Sanger s Birth Control...
A political factor that influenced Sanger during her birth control movement was the Comstock
Laws. Comstock Laws were put in place by Anthony Comstock, a congressman who wanted to put
a ban on spreading pornography through the U.S mail (Wardell, 1980, pg. 738). He soon
broadened what the Comstock laws covered, to make it illegal to ship anything through the mail
that had to do with contraceptives, even information. This was a constant battle for Sanger and she
was arrested many times throughout her lifetime for breaking the Comstock laws. Margaret finally
had her biggest victory over the Comstock laws in 1936 when she won in the case of U.S v. One
Package of Japanese Pessaries. This ruling didn t officially rule the Comstock Laws
unconstitutional, but it did rule that contraceptives and information regarding them could be shared
through the mail, a huge accomplishment for Sanger (Knowles, 2009, pg.8).
Data Then and Now One method of examining what Sanger has accomplished and continues to
influence in modern day is comparing epidemiological data from then and now. Birth rates are a
huge indicator on how access to contraceptives and safe abortions improved throughout the years.
In 1930, the birth rate was 20.7 births to every 1,000 people (U.S. Public Health Service, 1947, pg.
101). Birth rates have trended downwards throughout the years and in 2013, the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) stated that the current birthrate was down to 12.4 live births to every

Schema Integration Essay
In literature there exist several definitions of Schema:
Schema integration is the process of merging autonomously developed DB schema into a unified,
global schema to provide transparency through a unified view [73].
Schema integration is the process of identifying the components of a database which are related to
one another, selecting the best representation for the global conceptual schema, and finally,
integrating the components of each intermediate schema [74].
12.2.Why is Schema Integration Required?
With respect to the web warehouse, schema integration is one of its important perspectives. There
are heterogeneous sources of data in World Wide Web which vary in their schema configuration.
Schemas from different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pre integration
An analysis of local schemata is carried out. The analysis made governs the choice of schemas to
be integrated and the order of integration. A number of schemas to be integrated at a time and the
amount of designer interaction are also decided in this step [81].
12.4.2.Schema Comparison/Matching
This step involves identifying and analyzing inter schema relationships by determining the
correspondences between the schemas. Possible conflicts are also detected in this phase.
12.4.3.Schema Conforming
In order to integrate schemas, the detected conflicts between them have to be resolved so that it
was possible to merge them [81]. It implies modification of one or both schemas that will be
integrated until each phenomenon in the Universe of the Discourse (UoD) reflects the same form
in both schemas.
12.4.4.Schema Merging
Schema merging results into a single global integrated schema by superimposing the local schemas.
12.5.Conflicts in Schema Integration
Schema integration process may face certain conflicts. The system undergoing the integration
process must be able to identify the arise conflicts. Some of the schema integrations conflicts are
explained below:
12.5.1.Naming Conflict
Different databases use different naming conventions. Naming conflicts occur due to the use of
different names for the same attribute like

Michael Jackson is a legend in the musical world. His musical career started out when he was
considerably young. Michael has inspired many artists in today s society. His music video,
Thriller , is viewed as iconic even today. Jackson was one of the first artists to break through racial
barriers in the musicsociety. He was also known for cross genre collaborations. Jackson indirectly
aided many businesses in impacting their sales to rocket through the roof. Michael Jacksonwas born
on August 19th, 1985 in Gary, Indiana. He had five brothers and three sisters, one of which
included Janet Jackson. He and his family lived in a two bedroom house although they needed
enough room for eleven people. Three older brothers, Tito, Jackie, and Jermaine started a band

Parthenon Still Standing
Architecture
Question 1: How is the Parthenon still standing?
The Parthenon is still standing because, quite simply, the Athenians were very creative. They did
lots of research and tests before construction. The tools the ancient Athenians utilised are suspected
to be far more powerful than the modern tools we use today. By analysing the surfaces of the stone
in the Parthenon, the tools must have been much more sharp and durable than those of today.
Supposedly due to their metallurgical experimentation. They used a plethora of mathematics and
geometric skills to design every single angle of this building to keep it stable and apparently
standing 2 500 years later from construction. (Greek Research, 2018) The Greek ... Show more

But in the gap between the Persian and Peloponnesian Wars, from 454 to 430 B.C., the city was at
peace, and it flourished. The Athenians were, Not very numerous, not very powerful, not very
organised, as the historian Humphrey Kito noted, But they nevertheless had a totally new
conception of what human life was for, and showed for the first time what the human mind was
for. (Eric Weiner, 2016.) The Greeks were able to do what they did largely because they were so
scattered, fragmented and competitive with one another. They were on the edge of a couple of
ancient and sophisticated civilisations, so they had inspiration at hand. (Ed Lake, 2015.) Like
Silicon Valley today, Ancient Athensduring this short period became a talent magnet, attracting
smart, determined people. A city with a population the same as Wichita, Kansas, it was an unlikely
candidate for greatness, other Greek city states were larger, Syracuse, or wealthier, Corinth, or
mightier, Sparta. Yet Athens produced more brilliant minds, from Socrates to Aristotle, than any
other place the world has seen before or since. (Weiner,

My Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Foreign Environment...

beginning WRD 103. The various assignments that were asked to be produced exceptionally
strengthened my overall writing abilities. The idea of writing creatively within narratives and
analyzing different stories or commercials expanded the way can express my multi modal writing.
My skills within all of these areas are still under progress, but with the constant practice, I am
confident that these skills will continue to grow. Our first assignment was to compose the
diagnostic essay. The essay was created to showcase our strengths and weaknesses. Understanding
my strengths and weaknesses came as a difficulty because in high school we were never asked to
explore these traits within ourselves. While constructing this essay I had a hard time evaluating
my own writing so I needed an external source. I had a friend look at my writing and point out
my strengths and weaknesses. I then listed the pros and cons of my writing. Understanding the
prompt has always been a stronghold of mine, I am able to fully comprehend the purpose of the
assignment. Being able to fully understand the prompt has lead to stronger writing as I revisit the
prompt and revise my papers. A sure weakness of mine was clear organization of thoughts. I can
say that it still haunts me. I can write a good sentence yet, delete it because I tell myself that I can
write a better sentence. The diagnostic essay was

include other clothing brands that cater to teens. Some of these competitors that we considered for

This is because the market will likely eventually become too saturated to sustain 3% growth on
the increasing stores base. Also the effects of the short run growth drivers will likely taper off
after some years. In the long run, the company may likely have to close more stores than it
opens to maintain its strong store productivity levels. (2) Given the short run period growth
drivers outlined, especially the impact of the economic recession, store productivity is expected
to increase. We have assumed a ceiling of ~$750 sq.ft; as only very high end boutique apparel
stores have sustained such productivity levels. From 2014, productivity is forecast to decrease
to normal industry average levels of sales of ~$550 $600/Sq.ft. (3) Average Sq.ft/store is
assumed to remain the same over the forecast period. This assumption appears reasonable since
historically the four year CAGR is 0.43%. 3 (4) The same store revenue growth rate provided in
the 10 Q for 2010 is assumed for the shortrun; as the company has proven that it can achieve that.
However, as the stores base increases in the long run, it become harder to sustain this growth rate.
Therefore we have assumed a lower long run rate; more aligned to more mature companies in the
industry. Sensitivity Analysis Upon conducting the sensitivity analysis (see Exhibit 1), we
determined the key factors driving the valuation: п‚· Discount rate п‚· Tax rate п‚·

The Cross and the Swtichblade
In my opinion, I think I can partly identify with David Wilkerson because of the way he treated
people. I m a girl of my words, what ever I say, I will do. David Wilkerson said he wanted to help
Nicky, and that is what he did. I m not a 100% peace maker, but I know when to be mature and
bring peace and I know when to be loud and noisy. There is a time, in a place.
Also, the fact that David wanted to make someone s life better and make them realize that god/love/
energy is the power of all humanity. I try to do that. I try my hardest, to make everyone feel special
and love themselves.
I have many perspectives of the movie. Though, the feeling that often returns is fear. I loved the
movie because it is was very inspirational, but I felt fear because this was what our world was a
long time ago and it still is now. I felt that the movie was describing reality.
I said the movie was inspirational because if someone tries hard enough, they can change you in
a negative and positive way, but if you try twice as hard, you can change yourself in which ever
way you desire. The movie itself might have changed people lives, you saw the point of views
from both sides. Negative and positive. Now its your turn to determine that path you wish to seek.
David Wilkerson had done a lot of great things. I know a lot of people that are based off David
Wilkerson. What I mean by based off, I m implying that some folks act like David Wilkerson,

The Causes Of Obesity And Obesity
Aaron Heiden Robert S. Pilsner WR 121 17 March 2013 The Causes of Obesity Many people
speculate that obesity is genetic, but is it? Is childhood obesity caused by a lack of exercise, an
unhealthy diet, or both? Obese people, or more commonly referred to as fat people or
overweight people, are defined as adults who s BMI (body mass index) is over 30 percent.
There have always been overweight people in human society, but the rate of growth for this
percentage of our population has been steadily rising in the last few decades. When it comes to
the topic of obesity, most of us will readily agree that it is a problem. Where this agreement
usually ends, however, is on the question of why it is happening. Whereas some are convinced
that this trait is genetic, others maintain that people become obese simply due to diet and lack of
exercise. In discussions of overweight children, one controversial issue has been who is at risk.
On the one hand, A. Cattaneo argues that ...excess adiposity is a key risk factor for many chronic
diseases. On the other hand, Reilly, J. J. contends that there is a ...need for practical, objective,
methods that both identify the fattest children and adolescents adequately, and identify those who
are at greatest risk of the co morbidities of obesity. Others even maintain these traits are genetic
and obese people are not more at risk than others. My own view is obesity is not inherited
genetically, and that maintaining a proper diet and exercising can

Aesop Is A Greek Narrator
Aesop is a Greek narrator who created over six hundred fables. The fables were told orally and
later translated into English. No author of Greek ancient times has been more read, translated,
adapted, adorned, printed, and illustrated than the works of Aesop s. Aesop s fables consist of
simple tales with moral endings surpassing time and place to be so connected to today as they
were a thousand of years ago. Using (mostly) animals and lifeless objects that speak, solve
problems, and generally have human characteristics, they remain widely popular and still inspire
many contemporary stories, plays, and movies. While there is no record that Aesopever wrote
anything down, he probably just had them memorized since he told them over and over.... Show

When King Lycurgus found that Aesop was still alive, he pardoned Aesop in return for help to
solve his problem. The fourth and final crime cost Aesop his life. Aesop s sharp cleverness
disrespected the magistrate, who schemed to humiliate and kill him. The magistrate had a gold
cup concealed in Aesop s baggage. When it was found and recognized as stolen from a temple,
Aesop was found guilty of blasphemy and theft. Aesop attempted to talk his way out of it but he
was thrown from a cliff to his death. Aesop s fables consist of simple tales of moral endings to
teach children. Many of the morals and phrases are well known today. One of the phrases that I
always remember and one that all should know is slow and steady wins the race from The Tortoise
and the Hare fable. This fable is about an arrogant hare and a leisurely tortoise that dare each
other to a race. The hare gloats about how he could never lose to a slow moving tortoise. After
the race begins the hare sops to rest, thinking that he has plenty of time. While the hare is
sleeping, the tortoise passed him to win the race. This fable proves that slow and steady wins the
race. The hare s arrogance convinced him, that he could never lose to a slower animal. This gave
him the confidence that he could take a nap and still win the race. Even though the tortoise was
slower, he was persistent and this allowed him to win the race. One source argues the following:
Rarely does slow win any race.

According to a poll from Headline Media, fifty six percent of students consider homework to be
a primary source for stress, forty three percent of students viewed tests as a primary stressor, and
thirty three percent said the pressure of keeping grades up is a primary stressor. Only one
percent of students said that homework wasn t stressful. Students sometimes give up sleep just
to finish homework. Losing sleep over homework is a negative effect on the child s ability to
understand the material being taught and they are more likely to struggle on assignments and
tests being given to them on the next day. Children losing sleep also affects their brain activity.
If a child doesn t have at least eight hours of sleep at night, he/she will be less prepared for the
day ahead. Also if a child loses sleep, due to finishing homework, it is very likely they will fall
asleep in class the next day and not learn the new material being taught then they will not be able to
understand and do the homework that it given that day or do assignments and exams over that
material. Without sleep and rest the human body and brain will not function properly. It is very
important for a child to get enough sleep and not stress over homework so that they can actually
absorb the material and get the right education. How much homework

  • 2. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Private Label Brands 1.INTRODUCTION An Indian retail industry is one of the fast emerging sector across the world. Retail industry in India is anticipated to grow up to US$ 950 billion by 2018, with the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.9 per cent from year 2000 to 2018. There has been a considerable growth in Private Label brands in last few years worldwide. Private Label Brands (PLBs) are growing faster than National or Manufacturer s brands. • 3. James Dickey All American Poet Essay James Dickey All American Poet James Dickey was an American Poet whose life has been very diverse, and in his poetry that diversity is shown. He has a lifestyle that most poets do not get to experience. He has lived in many states and countries. That gives me the reason to think that his poetry resembles this life s diversity. James Lafayette Dickey, III was born in the town of Atlanta, Georgia on February 2, 1923. His parents were Maibelle and Eugene Dickey. He went to Ed S. • 4. Policy Proposal for Economic Reform in Russia Essay Policy Proposal for Economic Reform in Russia Despite making a recovery after the 1998 market crash, Russia remains weighted with numerous holdovers from the Communist era that keep its economy from taking advantage of free market reforms. In short, Russia has not prospered under capitalism because it has not yet discovered it. In order to do so, the Russian government must engage in extensive reform in several key areas: improving the rule of law, creating stable monetary policy, and ending a policy of favoritism to particular businesses. Engaging in these reforms would lower the extremely high transaction costs of doing business legally, stimulating a wave of new investment and wealth creation within Russia, as well as encouraging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lack of clearly defined and enforced property rights is another major problem. The communist era criminal code has only been partially replaced, and each contract must be carefully examined to check whether it contradicts an ever shifting mess of regulations. In addition, it is unclear what success the communists will have in the next election, so long term planning is very difficult because the future is so unpredictable. Despite an ambitions privatization program, many of the large factories remain state owned, partly because of the fact that their outdated and inefficient production would immediately and properly put them out of business under a free market. However, because the government has so much influence over the banks, it keeps funding these inefficient enterprises to earn the support of the many workers they hire. Many of the factories that were privatized, simply signed ownership to their communist bosses, and because of their pull with the government, stay alive by government aid. Despite all the issues mentioned above, the biggest challenge to Russian economic growth is probably its monetary policy. The Russian central bank is a direct holdover from Soviet times and needs to change its policy drastically to adapt to a free market economy. In a capitalist economy, private banks serve to store money and provide investment to business. Because banks lose their investment when a debtor defaults, they are careful to insure that entrepreneurs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He does not inform anyone at his workplace that he has this disease, as he is afraid of how he would be treated if people knew. Lesions begin to appear on his face and he tells a coworker it was from getting hit with a tennis racquet. One day, a complaint Andy had written and was needed for court vanished and all traces of it were mysteriously gone until one copy was located miraculously and gotten to court just in time. Soon after he was fired. The company claims he was fired due to that incident, but Andy knew someone had meddled with his report as it was completed and put on his desk. Andy believes he was fired because of his illness and hires a lawyer to make a case against the company for discrimination. Joe, the lawyer, wins the case, and Andy very soon passes away. I believe this film encompasses advocacy. Organization Development (OD) is one of many American management techniques utilized in many part of the world. To setting this American origin techniques in different culture always has problem. Some of the biggest challenges for developing theories with cross cultural relevance come in the area of organizational studies. This company reveals that they use OD and other western techniques in creating a shared vision, establishing a performance based human resource management system, and standardizing budgetary and cost control procedures. The success of the company s change effort is largely attributed to leadership, standardization of management systems, commitment to learning and training, and partnership with an OD expert.(Jia Wang, 2010) McLean from university of Minnesota (2000) explored reasons for OD s failure in 7 Thailand companies he found that many OD practices did not work well in Thai organizations because of the culture, open communication in Thai culture is very difficult and participation is limited due to the respect given to hierarchy in Thai organizations. • 8. How Mergers Affect The Economic And Financial Power Of... Mergers have become a main aspect within the market economies, resulting in consequences that are potentially conflicting due to the stiff competition among different businesses (Richard Yekini, 2014, p. 54). The conventional economic theory suggests that mergers are likely to raise the level of monopoly, hence leading to reduced competition and lower economic efficiency. The truth is that they can boost the effective level of competition within the monopolistic environment where size is an important factor. This means that in the case of markets that have a small number of large producers that are involved in competition, mergers can play a vital role in increasing the economic and financial power of smaller firms. This enables the small firms to compete favourably with the larger ones. Therefore, mergers are able to produce a countervailing force to fight the leading firms, putting more pressure on them, and making them look for other ways to constantly make improvements in their efficiency. This is similar to the way many small businesses behave as a result of competition in highly competitive markets. This paper elaborates the reasons that motivate firms to take over or merge with other firms and the effects of this, both to the employees and the firms involved (Su Wells, 2014, p.46). This will be established by examination of specific recent acquisition or merger cases within EU member countries, putting into consideration a number of these aspects. The major driver ... • 9. Getting For Yes, By Roger Fisher And Looking Behind The... Roger Fisher and William Ury s book, Getting to Yes, proposes a variety of negotiation strategies and tools. The authors break their method down into four procedures and demonstrate them in common negotiation scenarios. They encourage readers to break away from the two extremes of soft and hard bargaining to seek a third approach. They call the third approach principled negotiation or negotiation on the merits . I submit that the procedures proposed in Getting to Yes alternatively break down to two simplistic themes, Emotional Chess and Looking Behind the Curtain, which are broadly applicable in contemporary negotiation. Additionally, I submit that within the authors procedures are four tactics which vary in applicability... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only after this can healing and forward progress be made without risk of past emotions infecting negotiations. The best way to address emotional issues is to acknowledge them as a legitimate by allowing both sides to air their grievances without interruption and without criticism. This process also allows both sides to empathize with the other s position and potentially remove prejudices and assumptions. Additionally, this airing can unearth common interests between the parties which they assumed were issues of conflict. This strategy does require caution, however, which is not suggested by the authors; this issue is addressed in Part 3. When playing Emotional Chess, it is important to avoid the topic of trust. Trust is often regarded in Western cultures as a cornerstone of relationships and is a deep seated principle. In negotiations, however, it can be used as a tactic to fuel emotions and re enlist egos into the negotiation fray. A party s reply of Don t you trust me? to an inquiry of proposition s rationale, raises principle above reason and logic. Even if innocently used, this reply places the responding party into an uneasy position. To sidestep this emotional landmine, parties should jointly seek independent criteria to assess their rationale and the situation at hand. Have you ever wondered why they are working on the road or thought that it was just another government scam to cost the taxpayers more money? The common thought asserted here is that higher speeds create more wear and tear on the roadways. Another factor of speeding is damage inflicted on cars while drivers are driving fast. This side asserts that the faster the car runs, the harder the engine works; the harder the engine, works the more wear the car takes. This may have been true with automobiles made several years ago, but the cars and trucks manufactured today are quality automobiles. They are tested very rigorously in order to withstand wear and tear. Second, the government would also like us to believe that driving high speeds causes more deaths than driving slowly. According to the Transportation Accident Commission, Last year Victoria recorded its worst road toll in a decade, with speed being the main cause of fatalities (36%) and serious injury (33%). Ocean currents move water, circulating around the globe pushing warm and cold water all around. All of these make up ocean currents and help it affect the climate system. Ocean currents also affect the climate system by circulating around the world and using what it is driven by. This was no simple order though, in fact Biff intended on starting a bike patrol unit within the local department. Biff went to Dirks Bicycle shop to place an order. The order was for five mountain bikes to be used for patrol so they had to be custom made in order to sport the police decals. Therefore Dirks specially ordered custom bikes for the police department upon the request from Biff are considered specially made. The custom bikes were a special order because they contained unique decals displaying POLICE . Therefore Dirk can enforce the oral contract against Biff despite the price being an excess of $500, (under Revised article 2). Analyzing the case with all elements in mind, we concluded that a contract was in fact created. Dirk, who is pursuing Biff in court, will put up a case due to the oral contract that was indeed made. In this case there is no need for a written contract because Biff verbally agreed to buy five Schwinn custom police mountain bikes specially ordered by Dirk. For this non resellable goods exception to apply, the seller, Dirk, must have made a substantial beginning in manufacturing the goods. To show this is true, Dirk went out of his way to create an order for Biff that was special for the Police department, and by doing so, Dirk cannot return/resell the bikes, and he is at a loss of $17,500. The most important factor working in Dirks favor is the letter he received from the local PBA. The end of the letter had a hand written signature thanking Dirk for ordering the bikes. This is hard evidence that a deal was made because the note brings up the agreement for the bikes in writing and is signed by the second party, Biff. Dirk has enough evidence to bring Biff to ... As to automotive industry, government regulations, such as improving protection for safety and fuel consumption and improve emission against air pollution, have increased total cost to car products. As is seen from above figure which is statistically made by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the middle part shows the average price of a car with no regulated improvements in 1967. The lower part represents the value of added protection for safety and polluting emissions equipments. The upper part is the price due to non regulated improvements together with other quality and price increases. It is obvious that the government regulations have brought large influences on the price of car products. 3)Vote for new president [5] In early days, automobile manufactures hope governments to build public roads to stimulate customers demands. Road building was sometimes also influenced by political ideologies. If the government could take policies and actions to improve transportation system, the auto industry could be benefited very much. That is why the voting of president could affect car industry. Once the new elected president who supports to increase government spending on roads wins on voting, whole auto industry in this country could have a brilliant future. 3.Influences of economical factors ... • 15. What Is Joan Of Arc Essay Joan of Arc (born Jeanette d Arc) was a saint and the national heroine of France in the early 1400 s Joan was born on January 6th 1412, during the Hundred Year War. She became a brilliant war leader and singlehandedly led a disheartened French nation against British rule. She claimed she heard voices and that these voices were of St. Michael, St Catherine and St. Margret, Joan believed that the voices delivered messages from God. This eventually become her downfall which led to her being burned at the stake and accused of being a witch. Herein then lies the conundrum, was she killed because the people believed that she was a witch or was the reason more because she was fast becoming a threat to male rule? Before Joan was born the English wanted a duel monarchy over both France and England this led to the Hundred Years War which hugely affected Joan s life when Joan was born this was almost a reality. In schools, there was no national curriculum, no parental choice, no systematic means of monitoring performance, no publication of examination results beyond what schools themselves chose to reveal. Safety is one of the main purposes of electronic surveillance. Safety is the state of being secure and free from danger of any sort. Today, many would rather give up their privacy for safety (Smithsimon). In fact, surveillancegadgets such as cameras, radio tracking chips and house alarms are used in many places to ensure safety. For instance, a parent can easily place a hidden camera in a stuffed animal in order to see how the babysitter handles his or her child (Public Places Have Eyes). For instance, airlines have used the Computer Assisted Pre Screening System (CAPS) to spot any dangerous passengers that have checked into the airline. Additionally, metal detectors are heavily used in airlines to check for any weapons that a terrorist might use. Video cameras that capture faces and license plates found all throughout the airport are now equipped with a software that allows images to be recognized and matched with several databases (Public Places Have Eyes). Cameras in general are present in every corner of the airport to monitor all irregular activities. Some also believe that having a floating eye in the sky could prove to be a major deterrent in the war on terror when talking about aerial surveillance (Surveillance Tech). Moreover, these surveillance tools are not only used in airlines to prevent crime. These surveillance gadgets can also be used to prevent other crimes such as robberies, trespassing, assaults, and shopliftings everywhere. In fact, with the help of aerial cameras, the Tampa Florida Police Aviation Unit was able to perform 500 arrests in the year of 2003 (Surveillance Tech). Every single one of them played an important role in creating the atomic theory known today. Around 400 BCE Leucippus, the scientist who originally came up with the atomic theory, began to lay a foundation for the theory known today. Then, Democritus adopted the ideas of Leucippus , his mentor. Democritus soon developed the idea of an atom. Democritus believed everything was made up tiny particles of matter, he called these particles atoms. He chose this name because, in Greek, atom means indivisible. • 23. The Rise Of The 19th Century Essay The 14th century Renaissance1 was a transformational period in European history during which society experienced a resurgence of classical beliefs which altered Europe s literature, science, religion, politics, and especially art. The word Renaissance is defined as a revival or rebirth; the period before, known as the Middle Ages, was characterized by feudalism, power of the Catholic Church, and plague. However, as a result of the widespread loss of life caused by the Black Death, there was a rapid growth of commerce, invention, and scholarship. Both men and women returned to classical values and its humanist style of thinking, the appreciation of human capabilities as opposed to the divine or supernatural matters, and ultimately worked towards becoming a Renaissanceman or woman . Those people who spent their lives expanding their horizons embodied the core values of the period and influenced much of modern day society. Leonardo Da Vinciwas one of the greatest of these Renaissance men; his principles and work the Vitruvian man, cannons, the aerial screw, and the Mona Lisa shaped the Renaissance in many ways: socially, politically, and theologically, and scientifically. Sordaria is more specifically studied in many mycology labs to gain a greater understanding of the exceptional formation of as many as 8 haploid ascospores. Normally Sordaria and other fungi exists as a haploid organism, but occasionally when the mycelium from two individuals meet, a diploid zygote is formed. The diploid cell is formed by the fusion of the haploid wildtype and one of the haploid mutant strain. After DNA replication, we are left with two sister chromatids connected with a centromere. During meiosis a process called synapsis occurs. Synapsis allows matching up of two homologous pairs of chromosomes prior to their segregation, and possible genetic recombination amongst them by breaking and then reconnecting to the other chromosome thus allowing for crossing over to occur. The further away a gene is from the centromere, the more frequently the crossing over can occur. Both meiosis I and meiosis II generates four haploid products, and after one further round of mitosis, eight products are formed and all retained as haploid together forming a reproductive structure called a perithecium. Genetic recombination can ultimately lead to the production of traits in the new generation that differ from those found paternally or maternally. One of the benefits of synapsis (or chromosomal crossover) is the formation of new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This positively impacts the rate of rate of muscle protein synthesis after exercise. The way this process works is broken into two main steps transcription and translation (Editors, 2011). In transcription, DNA is unzipped (opened), and with the help of the enzyme RNA polymerase, messenger RNA, or mRNA, is created by pairing complementary nucleotides using the DNA as an instructional template . This step does not require amino acids, but is necessary to briefly mention in order to give context to the second step. In cells, oxygen is needed for many processes, but there are side effects of frequent exposure to the molecule, namely the formation of free radicals. These highly reactive molecules have an unpaired electron, allowing them to interact freely with and do damage to lipid molecules, particularly ones with double bonds. Since cell membranes have a high lipid content, they are at risk without antioxidant protection. Leaders like Martin Luther King, Jr. fought hard to ensure that social transformation and power be established for African Americans, especially those in the southern states as well as those in the northern inner city parts. Activists like King altered the philosophy on Environmental Justice arguing that there was a lopsided effect that proved that environmental hazards were not accidental. What environmentalists advocated instead was that environmental dangers resulted from racial segregation that placed power plants, nuclear plants, and other potential ecological hazards in areas with a high concentration of minority and low income groups. Several activists defined this as environmental racism. The earliest reference to environmental racism originated in Warren County, North Carolina, in 1982. A mainly African American neighborhood rallied to protest the construction of a noxious waste landfill. The community was well backed with the support of the United Church of Christ. The remonstration resulted in well over five hundred arrests for civil disobedience. Its impact caused other explorations in southern communities across of the United States of America. Analyzing the Shawshank Redemption Analyzing Shawshank Redemption Crystal Gayle Frapp January 31, 2014 Analyzing Shawshank Redemption The film that will be analyzed and discussed is the Shawshank Redemption, which was Director by Frank Darabont and is a Story by Stephen King. It is based in 1946, a man named Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is convicted of killing his wife and her lover, and him going to prison and dealing with the struggles of prison life as a truly innocent man. . He s sentenced to a life term at the Shawshank State Prison in Maine, where another lifer, Ellis Red Redding (Morgan Freeman), picks him as the new recruit most likely to crack under the pressure. The film s opening scene shows him being given two life sentences for the murder of his wife and her lover, and then we move, permanently, to a point of view representing the prison population and particularly the lifer Ellis Red Redding. It is his voice remembering the first time he saw Andy ( looked like a stiff breeze would blow him over ), and predicting, wrongly, that he wouldn t make it in prison. (Ebert, 1999). The story takes place in a prison in Ohio back in 1946. The category of irony used in this film is situational irony which Situational irony occurs when we expect one thing to happen and something else does. (Goodykoontz, amp; Jacobs, 2011 Ch. 2.4). The Shawshank is about Andy, but it is but the story isn t through his own eyes, had this film been through the eyes of Andy it would have turned out completely different, this plays a large part in the situational irony because Red is our surrogate. He s the one we identify with, and the redemption, when it comes, is Red s. We ve been shown by Andy s example that you have to keep true to yourself, not lose hope, bide your time, set a quiet example and look for your chance. I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really, he tells Red. Get busy livin or get busy dyin . . (Ebert, 1999). • 37. Ontology vs. Epistemology Ontology deals with questions concerning what entities exist or can be said to exist. What do we know? What are we certain of? What can we prove? What is the nature of existence? Epistemology is the study of knowledge. How do we know what we know? How can we establish truth and certainty? Are their limits to what we can know based on how we come to know it? These epistemological questions when combined with ontological questions have philosophers pondering what exists and how we know it exists. In A Certain Ambiguity, by Gaurav Suri and Hartosh Singh Bal, there was a constant question of proof. How do you go about proving something? Well the book suggests that it is only possible to prove something if you have a set of accepted axioms.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first half of this quote explains that idea in a different way, Each society thought that their way was the natural way, the absolute way, and the certain way, but Protagoras and Sophists realized that one way was not anymore certain or real than any other way. They went on to generalize that every human idea is relative to the circumstances surrounding the originator of the idea, and that true knowledge is unattainable. (pg. 42) The second half of the quote intrigued me. People are too dependent on one another to formulate or recognize new truths. The movie Flatland showed how people s thoughts and ideas are limited to what they can see and what they experience. The circles were powerful and influential and clearly knew they could control the thoughts of their people. The circumstance surrounding the idea of the existence of the 3rd dimension was the shapes were to be punished if they disobeyed the circles and tried to prove there was a 3rd dimension. When someone finally stood out and fought to prove the existence of the new dimension, was when the people followed along because the new truth made more sense. If people keep looking at certainty with an oh look, something shiny attitude they are going to continue to be pawns in someone s game and are never really going to increasing their knowledge. Momma and daddy (George Rhodman) were very active in our church, Standfield, and our community. Love of the Lord, family, and all people, my parents exemplified that unconditional love. In fact, momma designed our church edifice and daddy built it with their own resources. Serving the church with dedication, professionalism, and their service blessed all. Africa s economic stagnation calls for a shift in paradigm, leaning towards sustained economic growth. It is only through the sustained growth of these economies that the World Bankcan claim success. This essay will assess the meaning of failed development, effects of trade liberalization and the impact that multi national corporations have had on African countries. Imposing neo liberalism on African nations has led to a lack of sustainable development due to its ability to proliferate complex interdependency and exploitation. Failure in development is a lack of sustained periods of economic growth and stability, and an increased dependence on foreign aid. And further more, when I received over 75% of the votes, I was shocked. I was one of the newest members of the team and I was not a vocal team member by any measure. Still, I accepted and we had a great year with a 6th place finish at nationals. It taught me that leadership is not something you choose, it chooses you. • 42. A Political Factor That Influenced Sanger s Birth Control... A political factor that influenced Sanger during her birth control movement was the Comstock Laws. Comstock Laws were put in place by Anthony Comstock, a congressman who wanted to put a ban on spreading pornography through the U.S mail (Wardell, 1980, pg. 738). He soon broadened what the Comstock laws covered, to make it illegal to ship anything through the mail that had to do with contraceptives, even information. This was a constant battle for Sanger and she was arrested many times throughout her lifetime for breaking the Comstock laws. Margaret finally had her biggest victory over the Comstock laws in 1936 when she won in the case of U.S v. One Package of Japanese Pessaries. This ruling didn t officially rule the Comstock Laws unconstitutional, but it did rule that contraceptives and information regarding them could be shared through the mail, a huge accomplishment for Sanger (Knowles, 2009, pg.8). Data Then and Now One method of examining what Sanger has accomplished and continues to influence in modern day is comparing epidemiological data from then and now. Birth rates are a huge indicator on how access to contraceptives and safe abortions improved throughout the years. In 1930, the birth rate was 20.7 births to every 1,000 people (U.S. Public Health Service, 1947, pg. 101). By analysing the surfaces of the stone in the Parthenon, the tools must have been much more sharp and durable than those of today. Supposedly due to their metallurgical experimentation. (2) Given the short run period growth drivers outlined, especially the impact of the economic recession, store productivity is expected to increase. We have assumed a ceiling of ~$750 sq.ft; as only very high end boutique apparel stores have sustained such productivity levels. From 2014, productivity is forecast to decrease to normal industry average levels of sales of ~$550 $600/Sq.ft. (3) Average Sq.ft/store is assumed to remain the same over the forecast period. Obese people, or more commonly referred to as fat people or overweight people, are defined as adults who s BMI (body mass index) is over 30 percent. There have always been overweight people in human society, but the rate of growth for this percentage of our population has been steadily rising in the last few decades. When it comes to the topic of obesity, most of us will readily agree that it is a problem. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of why it is happening.
