Essay Responsibility
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Responsibility" is both a challenging and rewarding
endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the need for a comprehensive understanding of the
concept but also in the nuanced approach required to address its various facets. Responsibility is
a multifaceted topic that spans personal, social, and ethical dimensions, demanding a thoughtful
exploration of its implications.
To begin, one must grapple with the abstract nature of responsibility, attempting to define it in a
way that captures its essence without oversimplifying its complexity. This involves delving into
philosophical perspectives, psychological theories, and societal expectations to build a solid
foundation for the discussion.
Moreover, addressing responsibility necessitates a keen awareness of its diverse manifestations.
From personal responsibility in managing one's own actions to social responsibility in
contributing to the well-being of the community, the essay must navigate through these
intricacies with finesse. Balancing these various dimensions while maintaining coherence and
relevance can be a formidable task.
Furthermore, the essay must engage with real-world examples and case studies to illustrate the
practical implications of responsibility. This requires extensive research and critical analysis, as
well as the ability to synthesize information from different sources to construct a compelling
argument.
The challenge is not only in presenting a theoretical understanding of responsibility but also in
encouraging readers to reflect on their own roles and obligations. Crafting a persuasive and
thought-provoking essay demands the skill to connect with the audience emotionally and
intellectually, urging them to contemplate their own sense of responsibility in light of the ideas
presented.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Responsibility" demands a combination of
intellectual rigor, research skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. It is
an intricate task that requires a careful balance between theory and practice, abstraction and
relatability. However, the rewards lie in the potential to inspire critical thinking and foster a
deeper understanding of the concept.

Separation Of Alantolactone Lab Report
3.2 Selection of soluble silver salt for the mobile phase
Soluble silver salt in the mobile phase provided silver ion for the interactions with
unsaturated C C bonds. Silver nitrate (AgNO3) that act as sources of silver ions has
been frequently used in silver ion chromatography. However, bitrate radical
(NO3пјЌ) in the mobile phase has the stronger background absorption among 190 ~
240 nm as shown in Fig.2a [40]. Since the UV detection wavelength of
alantolactone and isoalantolactone was also in the range of 190 to 240 nm as
shown in Fig.2b [41], AgNO3 in mobile phase can cause extremely strong
background absorption interference, as shown in Fig.2c and Fig.2d. For this reason,
we selected silver perchlorate (AgClO4) as sources of silver ions, ... Show more

Variation of the resolution for positional pairs as illustrated in Fig. 3. A separation
system in which the silver ions were added into mobile phase for the separation of
some geometrical isomers of monoenoic fatty acids in fat and oil samples was
investigated by Correa [42], where silver ions concentration in mobile phase at less
60 Mm could achieve good separation. However, for improving the resolution of the
two positional isomers in present study, 5.0% of AgClO4 (about 240 Mm) in the
mobile phase can obtain the baseline separation. It should be noted that resolution of
these two compounds was not unceasingly achieved obvious improvement when
concentration of AgClO4 in the mobile phase was increased from 5% to 6% as

Perceptions In Psychology
On a sunny morning, Mary walks down a street in St. Louis and meets Paul and
Helen as they make their usual rounds with their dog. Later that day, she sits in a
cafГ© to study a bit and sees her classmate Peter. She finishes her breakfast and
gets tired of studying, so she goes to the movies and makes a new friend named
Leonard. After a while, Mary gets hungry, and goes to a nearby diner, where she
sees her good friend Louis. Within half a day, Mary, who is named after St. Mary,
has met with five others that carry the name of a saint. All six happen to live in a
Saint city. Is this a coincidence? Some studies show that this is not. In another city,

In figure 1 (Bartley), shown above, ninety eight percent of test subjects agree that
Shape A is Kiki while Shape B is Bouba. From studies of sound symbolism, one can
infer that before knowing anything about a person or subject, most people already
have predetermined feelings about the person or subject. Due to sound symbolism,
among other factors, a person s name could potentially affect his or her personality.
This is because outside perceptions of one can influence one s self perception
(Deluzain). In his book about psychology, Alter mentions every name is associated
with demographic baggage (Drunk Tank Pink 9). Different names can indicate a
person s age or ethnicity; coupled with the idea that children tend to follow
expectations set for them (Bryner), this provides a reason why names can affect a
person s personality. When children are met repetitively by a certain expectation, they
start to believe what is said about them, that others perception of them is correct, and
follow this expectation. Adults too, when in the outside world and met with different
biases due to their names, may act the ways others believe them to act, and not how
they might naturally act. Names also have different connotations, influencing a
person to act a certain way. For example, children with names that are closer to the
opposite gender version of the name are influenced to act differently
An Analysis Of Maurice Ravel s Le Tombeau De Couperin
They say what s old is new again. There is nothing new under the sun. What goes
around comes around. History repeats itself. These may be just a few banal
sayings, but they might hold true for classical music as well. Maurice Ravel s Le
Tombeau de Couperin is one such example. Written during the neo classical and neo
baroque movements of the early 1900s, this clever piece ties together French
musical traditions, baroque styles, and World War I in just six short pieces. This
essay will detail the origins of the suiteform and the neo classical neo baroque
movement, and compare Le Tombeau de Couperin with Bach s French Suite no. 5 in
G Major, BWV 816. Le Tombeau de Couperin was written from 1914 1917 during
World War I. Ravel served in World War I as a truck driver but was discharged in
1916 due to his frailness and poor health (Sebastian, 2010 2016. The war affected
Ravel deeply, and it served as part of his inspiration for Le Tombeau de Couperin.
Each of the six movements is dedicated to friends that Ravel lost in World War I, as
listed in the Dover edition score:
I. Prelude: to the memory of Lieutenant Jacques Charlot
II. Fugue: to the memory of Secondary lieutenant Jean Cruppi.
III. Forlane: to the memory of Lieutenant Gabriel Deluc.
IV. Rigaudon: to the memory of Pierre and Pascal Gaudin
V. Minuet: to the memory of Jean Dreyfus
VI. Toccata: to the memory of Captain Joseph de Marliave (Ravel, 1997) The titular

Corinthians 1 Colossian Religion
The Church We teach that all who place their faith in Jesus Christ are immediately
placed by the Holy Spirit into one united spiritual Body, the church (1 Corinthians
12:12 13), the bride of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:23 32; Revelation
19:7 8), of which Christ is the Head (Ephesians 1:22; 4:15; Colossians 1:18). We
teach that the formation of the church, the Body of Christ, began on the Day of
Pentecost (Acts 2:1 21, 38 47) and will be completed at the coming of Christ for
His own at the rapture (1 Corinthians 15:51 52; 1 Thessalonians 4:13 18). We teach
that the church is thus a unique spiritual organism designed by Christ, made up of
all born again believers in this present age (Ephesians 2:11 3:6). The church is
distinct from Israel (1 Corinthians 10:32), a mystery not revealed until this age
(Ephesians 3:1 6; 5:32). We teach that the establishment and continuity of local
churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures (Acts 14:23,
27; 20:17, 28; Galatians 1:2; Philippians 1:1; 1 Thessalonians 1:1; 2 Thessalonians
1:1) and that the members of the one spiritual Body are directed to associate
themselves together in local assemblies (1 Corinthians 11:18 20; Hebrews 10:25). We
teach that the one supreme authority for the church is Christ (1... Show more content

We teach that it is scriptural for true churches to cooperate with each other for the
presentation and propagation of the faith. Each local church, however, through its
elders and their interpretation and application of Scripture, should be the sole judge
of the measure and method of its cooperation. The elders should determine all other
matters of membership, policy, discipline, benevolence, and government as well

Examples Of Efficient Market Hypothesis
1. Efficient Market Hypothesis The concept and its assumptions What is Efficient
Market Hypothesis? Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH) which published in
Eugene Fama s 1965 paper Random Walks In Stock Market Prices . It is based on a
random walk theory which earliest examined by Maurice Kendall in 1953, he
concluded that the movement of security prices on the security market was random.
(Kendall, 1953) An efficient market is defined as a market where there are large
numbers of rational, profit maximizers actively competing, with each trying to predict
future market values of individual securities, and where important current
information is almost freely available to all participants. In an efficient market,
competition among the many intelligent participants leads to a situation where, at
any point in time, actual prices of individual securities already reflect the effects of
information based both on events that have already occurred and on events which, as
of now, the market expects to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the information generally comes rapidly, securities price change randomly. (Fama,
1970) Existing conditions of the Efficient Market Fama (1970) identified three
sufficient conditions of the efficient market: (1) No transactions cost when buying or
selling securities (2) All available information is costlessly and available to all
investors. (3) All investors are rational that accept the current prices and future prices
of the securities. Three Assumptions of Efficient Capital Market There are three
assumptions imply an efficient market include: an efficient market requires that a
large number of profit maximizing investors analyze and value securities, all of them
are independent to the others. new information regarding securities comes to the
market in a random manner and the timing of one announcement is generally

The Main Obstacles To The Settlement Of Israel
Jews have lived in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) and the Gaza Strip throughout
recorded history, until the 1948 War of Independence, when they were forced to flee
the invading Arab armies.
When Israel captured the West Bank in the 1967 Six Day War, no Israeli citizens
lived in the territory. The following year, a small group of religious Jewsrented rooms
at the Park Hotel in Hebron for Passover, saying they wanted to be near the Tomb of
the Patriarchs, one of the holiest sites in Judaism (as well as Islam and Christianity).
The Israeli government reluctantly allowed them to stay temporarily. From that
beginning, hundreds of thousands of Israeli Jews now reside in the West Bank, citing
religion, history and Israel s security among their reasons for being there. But the
Palestinians, along with the rest of the world, see their presence as one of the key
obstacles to a peace agreement and the creation of a Palestinian state. ... Show more

The evidence points to the opposite conclusion. From 1949 67, when Jews were
forbidden to live on the West Bank, the Arabs refused to make peace with Israel.
From 1967 77, the Labor Party established only a few strategic settlements in the
territories, yet the Arabs showed no interest in making peace with Israel. In 1977,
months after a Likud government committed to greater settlement activity took
power, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat went to Jerusalem. One year later, Israel
froze settlements, hoping the gesture would entice other Arabs to join the Camp
David peace process But none would. In another Camp David summit in 2000, Ehud
Barak offered to dismantle most settlements and create a Palestinian state in exchange
for peace, and Yasser Arafat rejected the
Leadership Theory Of Leadership Development
Leadership Theory
I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with
people.
Mahatma Gandhi
Ethical leadership has established on following principles.
Leadership is a process whereby individual influences a group of individuals to
achieve a common goal (Northouse, 2013, p. 5). So, to better understand the
fundamental principles preceding leadership philosophy, we have to understand the
theory of leadership development and its essential characteristics. The leadership
theories that are greatest associated with my personal developmental plan are the
theory of relationship and transformational leadership. The transformational
leadership theory is allied with my personal development plan because it is also
known as the transformational leadership model, which emphases on the influences
that inspires both the leader and the followers. According to this theory, the main
elements or fundamental base is created on vision, trust, power, authenticity,
motivation, and communication.
The development within the organization depend on, how the leaders lead the
organization and distinguish the change or growth. Drucker (2012) has provided the
five basic functions of organizational work culture like; planning, organizing,
controlling, motivating and coordinating. The transformational leader understands
these basic factors and inspire and encourage those who perceive the importance of
the higher good of the task.
Generation View Of Reality Essay
Generation s View of Reality
Ben Stiller s 1994 film, Reality Bites, portrays the broad based struggles of
America s twentysomethings through a lighthearted glimpse into the lives of the
movie s main
characters. Four friends, recently graduated from college, find themselves over
educated and
under employed, a theme reiterated in the lives of many Generation Xers according to
critic
Marilyn Gardner. She states, unemployment is higher for those under 25 then it is for
the
workforce as a whole. (pg. 14, col. 1) Though Reality Bites bills itself as a comedy
about love
in the 90 s, the film is more of a commentary on the issues facing young adults today

Somewhere in the middle is Lalaina, a strange mixture of the two. She is the

intern like production assistant until she is fired. In her valedictory address, she
condemns the
BMW driving older generation of her parents who have left a lack of employment

own. Lalaina s
unemployment leads her to look for jobs where she is inexperienced (working as a

journalist) to over qualified (flipping burgers at Burgerama), none of which are
fruitful. Lalaina
then becomes a slacker herself by eating chips and chain smoking in her pajamas for

Character Analysis Of Guy Montag
I ve always wondered if Guy Montag, the main character of Fahrenheit 451, was
actually the hero or just the bad guy in the story. Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 is
a story about a man named Guy Montag who in the beginning of the book was seen
as the bad guy, but later on changes after meeting a girl named Clarisse who
changes his views of things. In the world that Guy lives in, books are against the
law and once you break that law firemen would come and burn your books along
with the house. In this essay, I am going to explain why Guy Montagis Shown as a
bad and good person and whether I consider him a hero or not. In the beginning of
the book, Guy is shown to be the antagonist, because he was working as a fireman.
You may think why would someone working as a fireman be bad . Well in this
story firemen don t stop fires, but instead, they do the opposite. A fireman s duty is
to burn down the books and the house the book came from. At this point of the
book, Guy enjoyed spraying the kerosene, and watching the bright red flames, he
didn t mind walking into his house listening to Mildred, his wife talking to her
family on the tv wall. To me, Guy is the type of antagonist that does whatever he is
told without thinking, basically like a controlled bad guy. He doesn t really know
what his purpose is in life. Guy thinks that being a fireman is an honor and that he is
saving those who have ruined their minds with the gibberish you call a
book.Everything changed once Guy met

Community Mental Health Movement Of The United States
Community Mental Health Movement
For many years, people who suffered with mental illness were more often than not
institutionalized and severely mistreated. The history of the Mental Health movement
begins in 1909. The history of advocacy began with Clifford W. Beers. Beers,
himself an ex psychiatric patient who, after his release, crusaded to bring mental
health and mental illness to the attention of his fellow citizens (Pols). In 1908, Beers
published his autobiography, A Mind That Found Itself, which roused the nation to
the plight of people with mental illnesses and set a reform movement into motion
(Our History). Beers advocacy for the mentally ill was just the beginning for what
would be the development of several new policies and programs that to this day
continue to develop.
On February 19, 1909 Beers, along with philosopher William James and psychiatrist
Adolf Meyer, embraced that future by creating the National Committee for Mental
Hygiene, later the National Mental Health Association and what we know today as
the Mental Health America ( Our History). The year 1921 marked the beginning of the
child guidance movement. Its goal was to prevent juvenile delinquency through
involvement of the Child Guidance clinics in the youth s lives. The American
Orthopsychiatric Associated was founded in 1924 at the initiative of Karl Menninger
. Its aim was to promote the medical view of crime, namely that criminals should be
considered psychiatric patients (Pols).In 1946,

The Effects Of Taking A Risk On My Life
Throughout life everyone takes a risk ranging from proposing to someone, joining
a new club, driving the extra mile when you are on empty, or even just saying hello
to someone you ve never spoke to before. These actions all have very different
outcomes that can change anyone s life. In some situations, risks aren t always good.
The most important part of taking a riskis learningfrom it no matter what the outcome
may be. These risks are what changed my life for the better; they allowed me to
better myself, develop leadership skills, and mature as a person.
At my young age my life has been full of risks, most of which took place in high
school. Starting my Freshman year, I took a chance and joined my schools
wrestling team. This sport taught me determination. The urge to be the best I could
and to continue to better myself every day. I enjoyed this feeling to the extent that
it encouraged me to also join the track team. Little did I know that would be the
start to my sports career. This gave me the opportunity to create friends that will last
a lifetime. Playing sports allowed me to become a better person overall. I grew up
and learned to take responsibility, learned how to manage time more efficiently, and
acquired the skill to learn in creative ways. My Sophomore year I took these skills
and applied them to baseball, which paid off my Junior year. I became the Co
Captain and won the Coaches award for my team. Sports played a major role in my
growing up stage of life, the

Chopin Prelude No 15 Essay
Chopin s Prelude No. 15 for Solo Piano Hey guys, welcome to my blog! Today, I ll
be sharing with you guys one of my favourite pieces by romantic composer,
Chopin, Prelude No 15, or more commonly known as Raindrop. Frederic Chopin s
Prelude No 15, also known as Raindrop, is one of Chopin s 24 preludes. His preludes
were written between 1835 and 1839 and were published in 1839. Chopin s
preludes were arranged in a circle of fifths, with each major key being followed by
its relative minor. In comparison, Bach s collection of fugues and preludes, known
as The Well Tempered Clavier was arranged according to keys, each one a semitone
higher. This is why some believe Chopin intended the preludes to be played in a

The Cask Of Amontillado By Edgar Allan Poe Essay
Montresor s Grudge The Cask of Amontillado, by Edgar Allan Poe, tells a tale of a
friendship between two men. One named Montresor, seeks revenge on the other,
named Fortunato. The reason is unknown. The thousand injuries of Fortunato I
had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge. You,
who so well know the nature of my soul, will not suppose, however, that gave
utterance to a threat. At length I would be avenged; this was a point definitely,
settled but the very definitiveness with which it was resolved precluded the idea of
risk. I must not only punish but punish with impunity. A wrong is unredressed
when retribution overtakes its redresser. It is equally unredressed when the
avenger fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong. (Edgar
Poe 1) Montresor feels that he has been hurt so bad that he has to get revenge. He
does not say what was done to him. He shows that he has taken it very personally
and to the heart. Montresor s mindset is that he has to get revenge in a way that he
does not get caught doing so. If he does get caught then he will not have revenge.
Here is where we see Montresor s anger for Fortunato. Montresor finds Fortunato in
the city celebrating and drinking. He tells him about a drink called Amontillado that
he wants him to drink. He talks about how good it is and lures him to go with him. A
big thing that helped lure in Fortunato was when Fortunato was coughing and seemed
sick, Montresor showed
Dan Buettner s Three Blue Zones
In the TED Talk How to Live to be 100+ , Dan Buettner talks about lifestyles that
are helping people live to be 100+. According to the Danish Twin Study, biology
only factors into 10 percent of how long we live, the other 90 percent it based off
lifestyle (Buettner 2009). Dan Buettner and his colleagues found three Blue Zones
to try to find what types of lifestyles these people are living to become centenarians.
Blue Zones are places where people live longer than the majority of people in the
world. The Blue Zones are in Sardinia, Okinawa, and Loma Linda, California. They
found similarities in their lifestyles that help them to live to be 100+. Those
similarities are: they do not do strenuous exercise, have a period of down time, have a
word... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People in the Blue Zones put their families first. They take care of everyone in the
family, ranging from young children to aging parents. People in the Blue Zone not
only care for their aging parents but also treat them like celebrities. Dan Buettner
(qtd in Gulli 2008) emphasizes that A stop in any local taverna reveals just how
much glory these seniors get. Usually we see swimsuit calendars inside North
American sports bars, says Dan Buettner, but when he was in Sardinia, it was
Centenarian of the Month calendars. Also, their relationship with their community is
also very important. Those surrounding themselves with the right people allows
them to add on many years to their life. Buettner (2009) states, They all tend to
belong to a faith based community, which is worth between four and 14 extra years
of life expectancy if you do it four times a month. And the biggest thing here is they
also belong to the right tribe. They were either born into or they proactively surround
themselves with the right people, they purposely surround themselves with the right
group of people in their lives. The relationships in the Blue Zone societies can be
implemented into the lifestyles of the people in Cohort Two; however, many of their
ideas cannot be implemented in our lifestyles
Psychology Autobiographical Assignment On Depression
Psychology Autobiographical Assignment
The first concept I am going to discuss is depression. When I was in high school I
suffered from depression. When I was a freshman I was diagnosed with Myalgic
Encephalomyelitis (ME) which is also called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
This could be described as a disease that is characterized by profound fatigue, sleep
abnormalities, pain, and other symptoms that only become worse with the exertion
of energy. CFS is very hard to diagnose because a lot of the symptoms resemble
depression. A big difference is that People with depression usually feel very tired and
aren t interested in doing any activity, regardless of the task or the required amount of
effort. Meanwhile, those with chronic fatigue syndrome usually want to engage in
activities but just feel too tired to do so (Nall, 2015). For me, everything that came
along with having CFS is what caused me to have depression. When I was
diagnosed at the end of freshman year, my parents made the decision to
homeschool me so that I could have treatment. It made sense to take me out of
school because I was always sick because of my decreased immune response caused
by CFS. During the time when I was homeschooled I was going to a treatment center
every week to get an IV and at home was having to take twelve pills a day and give
myself B 12 shots. This all took a big toll on me and not being able to socialize
made it worse. I felt isolated and alone and with this combined with my parents
Social Class In Cinderella And Cinderella
In The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant and Cinderella by Jacob and Wilhelm
Grimm, social class is crucial in both stories. In The Necklace, Mme. Loisel is
married to a Ministry clerk and is part of the middle class. Despite this, she hates
her middle class life and concludes she should be in the upper class because she is
beautiful. In Cinderella, Cinderella is born into the upper class but is forced to
become a lowly servant when her two malicious stepsisters move in. She ends up
marrying the prince, which allows her to escape her life of servitude. Although
clothes represent social classin both The Necklace and Cinderella, the contrasting
attitudes of Mme. Loisel and Cinderella ultimately determines their social classesat
the denouement of the story.
To begin, clothes illustrate social class in both stories. In The Necklace, Mme.
Loisel is born into a family of clerks, which places her in the middle class. Given the
society she lives in is patriarchal, the social class of her father and husband control
Mme. Loisel s social class. However, Mme. Loisel clothes mask her true social
class. While Mme. Loisel tries on jewelry at Mme. Forestier s home, she puts on a
diamond necklace, Clasping it [the necklace] around her throat ... she stood in
ecstasy looking at her reflection (de Maupassant 212). She dons the necklace to a
party meant for the upper the class because she suspects it will mask her true social
class of middle class. Her decision to wear the necklace
Anger In Speak
Laurie Halse Anderosn has written a book which is considered as a trauma novel
speak . Usually anger is a phase that begins with madness and ends with regret, but
in this book anger will be tackled in different way, Melinda s anger starts with
silence and ends with speaking. In other words it s starts with fear and ends with
triumph over self. Over the course of the novel silence struggling with anger is
leading to speak. Anderson incorporated all themes in anger direction with different
techniques such as flashback, allusion, symbolism, and fragmentation.
The story started in an ambiguous atmosphere ,as readers don t know what happened
to Melinda she refused to speak she only wants to live in her isolation. some people
in their depression tries to speak, and others chooses to keep themselves silent and
get stressed when they are given a heavy workload, like why me ? ,as they are too
weak or shame to face the world around them ,and this exactly what happened to
Melinda in this novel .People experiencing passive anger may not even realize they
are angry, because passive angry maybe repressed, it can be hard to recognize. In
this long term, these suppressed angry feelings can easily be a main reasson for
psychological suffering. As readers can only notice that she carried a folded story
that will be displayed through flashback ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She describes her lips using very ugly words. These descriptions of Melinda s lips
and mouth in the novel clarify Melinda s inability to speak after the rape.
Throughout the chapters of the story Melinda s lips are described as cracked, pale,
swollen and dry. Unlike any girl who consider her lips as a sign of beauty. The
ugliness of her mouth represents the ugliness and shame she feels inside her mind
as well as her inability to take care of herself. Later, as Melinda begins to heal and
learns to speak about the rape, the state of her lips will
Analysis Of The Article Cutting Motherhood
In their article Cutting Motherhood in Two: Some Suspicions Concerning
Surrogacy , Hilde Lindemann Nelson and James Lindemann Nelson argue against
the idea of commercial surrogacy. Their main argument revolves around the rights
that biological parents owe to the children they bring into the world. This argument
can be formulated as follows: 1) Bringing a child into the world makes a child
vulnerable to harm, 2) Both of a child s biological parents have duties and
obligations to defend the child from harm, 3) Only biological parents can fulfill the
duties to defend the child from harm and it is immoral for a parentnot to do so, 4)
Surrogate motherhood contracts require the biological motherto give up her parental
rights, 5) Giving up parental rights prevents the biological mother from fulfilling her
duties to the child, Therefore, 6) Surrogate motherhood contracts are immoral
because the duties to the child are not met. This argument is, as any good argument
must be, logically valid. It is impossible to disagree with the conclusion if the
premises are true. However, this argument is unsound because not all of the premises
are true. Biological parents are not the only people who can fulfill the duties owed to
a child and protect them from harm. Surrogate motherhood contracts do not prevent
the duties owed to the child from being met.
As a fact of life, there are harms in the world that one is exposed to just by being
alive. Once a child is brought into the world, they are
Persuasive Essay On Winning
Competition is defined by the Merriam Webster s Collegiate Dictionary as a
contest between rivals. Many views winning as the optimum outcome for their
favorite athlete or sport s team. Henry Russell Sanders said, Sure, winning isn t
everything; it s the only thing. A similar but different phrase was echoed by Vince
Lombardi. He said, Winning isn t important, but the desire to win is. The desire to
win is what pushes all to be the best they can be. A healthy society should not be
obsessed with winning. Winning, after all, isn t what makes someone the best at
something. Sure, Suzy could win the tennis match, but if she has no drive to
repeat the action of winning again, what s the point? One example of why the
desire to win is best is found in the life of Albert Einstein. This man didn t really
excel in school, but he kept working and trying his hardest. In fact, he eventually
went to solve many of the great mysteries of physics. However, he didn t make his
discoveries until later in life. This shows that if one keeps working hard things
will eventually work themselves out, even if it takes. Another example of this
principle can found in the life of Phiona. She learned to play chess as a little girl in
the slums of Uganda, and she eventually went on to become a chess champion. She,
however, wasn t always the best at chess. She lost the very first game she ever
played, and this loss sparked her desire to improve the game and to eventually win
many matches. She proves
Childhood Is More Precious Than Childhood Essay
In modern day society nothing is more precious than childhood. It is a time full of
innocence, love, light and freedom with little to no worries. Childhood has not
always been described as this, full of hope and dreams and aspirations, the time to
just have fun and not to worry about the future, or wealth. Before the 1800s,
childhoodwas not a thing and children were just seen as miniature adults, with no
value, other than to carry on families. It was not until after the 1800s were
childhood become a national phenomenon. Childhood is set to be this time were
its all play and no work, where your parents or guardian is supposed to take care of
you, but what about the children that do not have this luxury? Although childhood
is a modern day universal subject recognized, not all children get to live their lives
the way they are meant to . The problem is dormant within certain societies for
many reasons. One is the concept of developed and developing countries and their
debt crisis, and another is western and non Western ideals. With these battling each
other, it is hard to communicate which one is right versus which one is wrong.
When it comes to children and work, is it wrong? Is it ok? Should it be outlawed?
Through universal and critical approaches, it will be shown that although childlabour
is against the UNCRC, it is crucial for children in some parts of the world to have
this active role. Through critical debates child labour would be further developed and
questioned
Modernity of Japanese Women
Both Naomi and The neighbor s wife and mine are representative stories of
westernization of Japanese culture. Naomi was written by Junichiro Tanizaki and
published in newspaper in 1924. It demonstrates aestheticism and created the word
naomism that represents the modern girl. The neighbor s wife and mine is also a
story that shows how Japanese people were longing to be like westerners. Both are
stories of transition from classic Japanese culture to modern western style culture. I
would like to describe how each story represents modernity and the difference of each
women modernization.

She silently began make something on the sewing machine and with the loud

contrast to the wife in The neighbor s wife and mine, Naomi acted totally different
when she desired something. She does not hesitate to ask Joji for a new dress. She
feels that it is his duty to buy her a new cloth to keep her beautiful. Second, the
status of women in the relationship between men and women is different. In The
neighbor s wife and mine, Shimano s wife respects her husband and never forgets
to stand by him. For instance, when Shimano was playing game with his friends at
late night, she did not feel confortable because her children were sleeping and she
wanted to go to bed. However, she did not say anything to the gests because she
knows it embarrass her husband in front of his friends. Quite and modest was the way
woman needed to be. In contrast, Naomi points out that man and woman should be
equal. She does not think that woman needs to follow her husband. For example, it is
to bring shame to her husband to be along together with a single man. However, she
does not hesitate to do it, and says we are just friend. This action is unacceptable in
traditional Japanese culture. According to the Article of Harootunian,

Provisional Government Essay
Provisional Government
The Provisional Government had attempted to keep its power over Russian affairs
during the trouble that followed the abdication of the tsar in February 1917, and as
events would show, they were largely unsuccessful in doing so. This may have been
because of Kerensky s mistakes, the government s lack of political power, or its
failure to solve the problems of Russia s peasant majority. The Bolsheviks were quick
to take advantage of time of weakness, although whether or not they succeeded
because the Provisional Government failed needs to be assessed.
The primary weakness of the Provisional Government was that it was essentially
powerless. Primarily this was because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Mensheviks and Socialist Revolutionaries had great political power, starting from
the Petrograd Soviet and reaching out to control in the soviets established in the other
Russian cities.
The Great War also made a large problem for the Provisional Government, especially
after it mistakenly decided that it would be best to continue fighting in the war. While
at first succeeding in a campaign against Austria, continued failures afterwards led
soldiers and sailors to mutiny. The failed campaigns demoralized the nation and
unwittingly increased support for the anti war Bolsheviks. By attempting to send
some units of the Petrograd garrison to the front, the government made situations
worse, eventually escalating to chaotic desertions of army garrisons. Paradoxically,
the Provisional Government had rallied the offensive in the war in order to create a
sense of civic patriotism that hopefully would end the conflict and bring peace to
Russia.
The Provisional Government failed to solve much of the issues that racked the
nation, especially the ever present problem of lack of food and the redistribution of
the land that the peasants wanted. In this way the Bolshevik party appealed to the
masses, using attractive slogans such as Peace, Bread and Land! and All Power to the
Soviets! Whether or not they would fulfil their promises meant little as
What Is Charles Van Doren s Life
The Quiz Show Questions Krisel Escobilla 1. Charles Van Doren s life completely
turned upside down when he started to appear in the game show 21. Some of the
effects were positive, but there were also some negative sides that comes with it.
One of the positive effects of the game show in Charles life was the recognition
from people that he longed to have. Despite his achievements in the past, he was
only known to be the son of Mark Van Doren who is very famous during the time,
and not as somebody who achieved something by himself. Joining the show was a
great opportunity for him to prove something, however, the attention and
recognition that he receive from the people sometimes got out of hand to the point
that his privacy got afflicted. Some of his fans even harassed him, which he did
not see coming at the beginning when he decides to partake in the lies of the show.
Another effect of the show was a luxurious life for Charles. His salary before when
he was an instructor only comes to about eighty six dollars a week, but when he
started appearing on the show, he got over thousands of dollars as price, which
boosted his confidence and ego. Before, he did not want to be called a professor but

Embryology Research Paper
Embryology, according to yourdictionary.com, is the branch of biology and medicine
that studies embryos and how they develop. By studying embryology medical
professionals will learn the causes of birth defects. They will have a better
understanding on how the human body reproduces and the process it goes through to
produce other individuals. Embryologyhas not been fully discovered and analyzed.
There could be much more scientists could find. They might just be scratching the
surface on a much deeper concept. Embryology has 3 periods. Tese periods are
called the germinal period, the embryonic period, and the fetal period. These periods
last 9 months in all for humans. These periods are what the embryogoes through to
grow into a strong and healthy child. Birth defects can occur in any of these three
periods. Although embryology has a vast world of information that has yet to been
discovered, these three periods help explain the majority.
The first period is the germinal period. According to study.com, the germinal period
is when the mother s egg is fertilized by the father s sperm. As the sperm and the
egg cells intertwine with one another to for a cell called the zygote. A zygote is a

weeks long. The next period after is the embryonic period. The next period is called
the fetal period. Embryo development is very important for the continuation of the
human race. Without it, the human race will slowly decrease thus ending the great
human race. By understanding embryology it can insure that medical professionals
will be able to keep the embryo healthy. A healthy embryo will insure a healthy
The Nasa Space Flight Center Essay
The Goddard Space Flight Center states that there are 2,271 artificial satellites
currently in space orbiting the earth. An artificial satellite is a hand made machine
that orbits the planet earth to help in many different ways in communications,
documenting information, sending and receiving signals. A satelliteis a moon, planet,
or a machine that orbit a planet or a star. There are many types of satellites and each
one is used for different reasons. Some satellites are used to send and receive
television signals. Some other satellites are used in communications by making it
possible to send and receive signals from phones, fax, internet and computers to
people all over the world. Other satellites are used in forecasting by giving
information about the earth s weather to scientists. Also, there is another type of
satellites that take accurate picture of earth to show the environmental situation such
as resources, pollution and statistics of crops and water (NOAA, 2014). Satellites
improved a lot in the daily life uses such as weather forecasting, documenting
information, communication and positioning systems.
The idea of satellites The development of the invention started in 1952 when the
International Council of Scientific Unions decided to start a project named
International Geophysical Year which started on July1, 1957 and ended on
December31, 1958. They put in considerations to launch the artificial satellite in this
year for mapping earth s surface (Verma, 2012).
Public Bills And The House Of Commons
Arguably, the scrutiny of Public Bills has depended more on the House of Lords
than it has on the House of Commons in recent years. The term scrutiny means the
critical observation or examination regarding the Public Bills. The effectiveness of
the scrutiny could be measured in a variety of ways, such as the period of time the
bill stays in parliament for, and whether parliament can take on board evidence from
committees and implement the bills into legislation. In order to determine if the
House of Lordshas been more effective than the House of Commons in scrutinising
public bills, it is crucial to compare and contrast the effectiveness of the procedures
used in both houses.

In the Lords, the Labour peers opposition backed an amendment, meaning the voter
turn out threshold of 40 per cent for the referendum result on alternative vote was to
be binding. Although this amendment was overturned in the House of Commons,
another amendment regarding constituency boundaries was cross party supported
and authorised by government. This amendment was that the Isle of Wight should
remain as one constituency, instead of being separated into two. This bill took 17
days to go through the Lords which included one twenty hour overnight sitting,
showing how greatly debated the bill was. A more recent example of the Lords
effectively scrutinising public bills was related to the Growth and Infrastructure Act
2013, where the Lords raised concern about two parts of this bill: local planning and
employment rights. The Lords made an amendment to the bill, allowing councils to
opt out of the planning scheme, which was overturned by the Commons. The Lords
challenged the Commons, and so the government decided that home owners wishing
to build extensions would have to notify the council of their plans, who would then
inform their neighbours. Only if their neighbours raised an objection would the
council have to intervene. This highlights how the House of Lords are arguably more
effective in scrutinizing public bills, as this amendment,
The Critical Problem Faced by a Firm in an Oligopoly
The critical problem faced by a firm in an oligopoly is that its decisions affect the
prices and quantities of its rivals. The oligopoly problem arises because, where
there are only a few suppliers to the market; the demand for the product of one firm
depends significantly on the price and output. A non cooperative duopoly is an
industry consisting of two firms in which firms take their decisions independently
and can be classified according to whether firms treat quantity or price as the key
strategic variable. When it comes to quantity setting there are two major models put
forward. The first, developed by Cournot in 1838 is based on firms setting quantities
simultaneously where each firm is setting the output that maximises its profit... Show

On day 3 firm 2 will expect firm 1 to continue its previous output level so keeps it
own output level unchanged. Yet firm 1 cuts its output, this being a lagged response
to the entry of firm 2. Therefore day 3 output combination is on 1 d reaction curve
but not on 2 s reaction curve. Given the shapes of the reaction curve as the process
continues it converges on the Cournot equilibrium which is a stable.
Further support of this equilibrium position comes from the single period game
theoretic model in which it is common knowledge that both firms have complete
information and that both firms are rational. A distinct feature of a Cournot
equilibrium termed the Cournot Nash equilibrium, is where each firm maximises its
profit given its expectation of the output choice of the other firm. To argue that the
Cournot equilibrium holds both firms would expect its rival to produce at the
equilibrium and thus the firms are rational.
This process uses elimination of expectations to arise at the equilibrium. It would
not be consistent with it being common knowledge that both firms are rational for
firm 1 to expect firm 2 to produce q2. Firm 1 s reasoning would be that firm 2 will
not produce q2 because firm 2 would only do so if firm 2 expected firm 1 to produce
q1. But firm 2 knows that firm 1 would not produce as a high quantity as that even if
firm 1 were a monopolist. Further, firm 2
Histoy of Blackbeard the Pirate
Throughout history pirates have terrorized the world s seas. There are few men
that have been feared as much as pirates were. Names such as pirate, buccaneer, and
privateer were given to these men and women that terrorized the seas. Black Sam
Bellamy, Bartholomew Roberts, Jean Lafitte, Stede Bonnet, and Ann Bonny are
some of the most feared names know to man. These were the names of pirates that
dominated the seas during the 1600 s and 1700 s, a time known as the Golden Age
of Piracy. However, one of the greatest pirates of all time was the great Edward

One of the most famous pirates of all time is Edward Teach. Historians believe
Edward Teach s original name was Edward Drummond and that he later changed it
to Teach after he became a true pirate. However, there is some mystery that
surrounds his real name. There are records showing that he sometimes went by
Thatch, Tach, Tatch, and Tash. These names could very well be an alias just as
much as the next. With all of these names, Edward Teach was most commonly
known as Blackbeard, and that is how he is remembered in history. Blackbeard
received his nickname from his long, black, gruff looking beard that covered most
of his face. He never trimmed his beard, and because of this, it grew down to his
chest and was very bushy. During raids, he would braid his long hair and beard and
tie slow burning, hemp fuses to the ends of his beard. He would light the fuses during
battle to make his head look like it were on fire, giving him a very scary look. The
effect was terrifying. His face, with its fierce eyes and matted hair, was wreathed in
smoke, and he looked to his prey like a fiend from hell (Botting, Douglas В– The
Pirates). Blackbeard s background, like that of most pirates, is obscure (Botting,
Douglas В– The Pirates). However, it is believed that Black bead was born in
Bristol, England around 1680. Contrary to popular belief, some people believe that
he was born in Virginia or Jamaica, but history books recognize Bristol as his home.

Michel Foucault s Panopticon
Author Michel Foucault uses the Panopticon as a metaphor to define the relationship
between the discipline and punishment system, and the concept of power knowledge.
Discerning the population equates to power and knowledge. Power is gained by the
information you acquire when keeping close tabs on people.
The Panopticon uses a different method of discipline . Instead of torturing, using
violence, and exhibiting power through this way, this new system forces the inmates
inside the structure to behave because of the force it has over their mind. Since they
do not know when or even if they are being overseen, the effect is them acting as if
they are being supervised at all times. Any and all events are noted and through this

to have him behave. Since each one has their own cell, there is no worry for
anyone planning a group escape. The surveillance would keep them under control.
There is not much one can do when alone and under constant supervision. Same
goes for the students. Besides this method keeping unruly schoolchildren at bay, it
also stops them from cheating off of one another. It shows which student is

Of course, with success there are also negative factors associated in which there
have been many lawsuits over the years about maltreatment, harassment, and

way to escape it. As a business owner, there comes the realization that not everyone
will be happy and leave on good terms and will do what they can to either harm the
organization s reputation or looking to benefit financially. Wal Mart has also been
attacked by competitors because they are hurting small businesses, anti labor union,
avoiding health scandals, etc. It seems obvious that once again, other companies are
trying to bring a corporate giant down to better their position.
As I researched how the organization started and now currently functions, it is a

Capitalism. I am impressed with the accomplishments of Sam Walton. On the

with the 24 year old man she dated in the past. Cindy admitted to missing five
months of school and dating a 24 year old man in the past, however she denies
being in a current relationship. Cindy reported that she does not attend school
because she gets nervous and dizzy when she attends school. The child further
reported that during school hours she will walk around on the street, go to the

Robert Frost s Home Burial
In Home Burial, Robert Frost uses language and imagery to show how differently a
man and a women deal with grief. The poem not only describes the grief the two
feel for the loss of their child but also the impending death of a marriage. Frost
shows this by using a dramatic style set in New England. In his narrative poem, Frost
starts a tense conversation between the man and the wifewhose first child had died
recently. Not only is there dissonance between the couple, but also a major
communication conflict between the husbandand the wife. As the poem opens, the
wife is standing at the top of a staircase looking at her child s grave through the
window. Her husband is at the bottom of the stairs ( He saw her from the bottom of

Looking at lines 3 9 you are able to see that the wife looks at her world through eyes
of fear:
Looking back over her shoulder at some fear.
She took a doubtful step and then undid it
To raise herself and look again...
And her face changed from terrified to dull. (l. 3 9)
Even though the wife may feel that her husband does not understand her grief, he
does try to reach out to her. He implores her, Help me, then (l.46). He knows that he
has a difficult time communicating with her and observes:
My words are nearly always an offence. I don t know how to speak of anything. So
as to please you. But I might be taught. I should suppose. I can t say I see how. A
man must partly give up being a man. With women folk. (l.48 53) The husband
acknowledges that she is grieving and asks her, Let me into your grief (l.62). He
pleads with her, Give me my chance (l.64). He asks for help in such a way that his
wife pushes him away again. She throws the accusation at him, There you go
sneering now! (l.70). This starts a second argument between the two. The argument
now is whether the husband can grieve for the child, in the way that he is allowed
without society looking down on him? The husband wants the world to know that he
is hurting too, but how can he do this? The husband was never taught to grieve, so
he is in the process of learning how to do this. The wife does not
The Effects Of Music Therapy On Patients With Cancer
Rhythm that produces sound whether by means of a voice or instrument can stir a
feeling of joy or sorrow in a human being. One of the earliest known complete music
compositions dating from about 2nd century B.C., an Epitaph believed to have been
written by Seikilos himself while still alive. The (Seikilos) Epitaph has been
translated from the original Greek of that period as:
As long as you live, shine feel no grief at all Life is short Life demands its toll
(Pilich).
The interesting fact about this composition is that the tempo is expressive of
religious solemnity (Pilich). Obviously one can comprehend the fact that music
contains not only mere words but can foster certain emotions that are associated with
a particular piece of music.
Music therapy has proven beneficial to patients with cancer most notably the
psychological and physical end results. More than one million people in the United
States get cancer each year (cancer.org). Most have heard or know of someone who
has had cancer and the stories of the chemo radiation therapy that goes along with it.
Imagine the emotions that one feels when diagnosed with cancer. The patient is
ultimately suffering from the whole ordeal physically and emotionally. Music
interventions are employed to alleviate symptoms and treatment side effects in cancer
patients (Cochrane review).
A recent study of music therapy interventions was conducted on 1,891 participants.
The study was offered by music therapists and medical staff.
Persuasive Essay On How To Change A Tire On Your Car
How to Change a Tire on Your Car
In 2015, I was dating this girl who had never had been taught how to change a tire,
check her oil, or even add antifreeze to her car. I bring this up because she was on her
way to meet me up at the beach at 5:00am so we could do breakfast on the beach
and watch the sunrise. On her way to the beach her car blew a tire and she called me
freaking out so I had to go meet her and help her change her tire on her car. Now I
felt bad because she had never been taught how to change her tire so she was
stranded at 5am. To help more people from being stranded at various hours of the
day or night I m going to explain to you how to change your tire.
So, you re tires blown what do you do now? First thing you need to do is go make
sure you have a spear tire or a doughnut tire, jack, and tire iron. If you don t have any
of these things call for help. Now if you do have these things make sure you are
enough off the road that you aren t going to be in the middle of the road when you
get under tour car or are working on your car. Also try to be on as flat of ground as
you can be. Go in too your car and turn the hazard lights on so other cars know you
re there and make sure your car is off and wedge soothing in the front tires so your
car dose not start to roll.
Continuing on you need to get out your jack and climb under your car. Now put the
base of the jack on to the frame of the car near the blown tire and start to jack up
your car making sure your blown
Autobiographical Event Research Paper
My autobiographical event that is important to me is when my uncle picked my
dad and I up in the family truck. It all started when my uncle knocked on the door
asking for my dad and I. He said get in the truck were going for a ride, And of
course we got in thinking we re gonna have a talk or something like that. Then he
turns into the river and we start freaking out because we ve never been in the river
when it was flowing especially when the water was that deep. So were driving in the
shallow area and it starts getting deeper and soon the whole hood is under water he
stomps on the gas pedal, The truck catches traction and starts doing a wheelie, We
start creeping out of the water and then the truck stops and is sinking down. We shut

One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich Essay
In One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich , Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn presents to us
the central leading character named Ivan Deniosovich Shukhov. Shukhov was an
inmate at labor Camp HQ somewhere in Russia. He was in the special camp for
being accused of treason or being involved in political crimes. He was an ordinary
individual, who was quite simple, and avoided being bitter. He was disciplined, and
not only by the system, but by his own values. For instance, the author, Solzhenitsyn
states that, Next, he removed his cap from his shaven head how ever cold it was, he
wouldn t let himself eat with his cap on and stirred up his skilly, quickly checking
what had found its way into his bowl (17). From this quote, we notice how Shukhov
takes pride in his values, regardless of his current condition.... Show more content on

Even though he did go through some hard times, he still attempts to look at the
brighter side of things. But towards the end of the novel, Solzhenitsyn gives us an
ironic revelation. When Shukov s day comes to an end, he is feeling quite content
and pleased. He accomplished the work he needed to do, and didn t get in trouble
for his metal item. But the irony of this ending was that Solzhenitsyn lets his
readers know that Shukhov still has a long way to go; Just one of the 3,653 days
of his sentence, from bell to bell (182). In class, our professor posed a question to
us asking us if the ending was an example of a triumphant human spirit or is he
feeling impressed by the way the system has acquired so much power? For the rest
of this paper, I will discuss about how I believe it is an example of a triumphant

Prenatal Pregnancy And The Fertility Regulating Methods
Conclusion Considerable numbers of females are at threat of repetitive pregnancy
with grave health and social burdens to the mothers and their babies. The main focus
in this study was the assessment of knowledge and performance of females attending
the family health unit towards the fertility regulating methods, cautilizes of approval
and refusal towards these methods, and identifying the most common social
obstacles. So we prepared suggestions for solving these problems and encourage
female to utilize contraception methods.
There was an association between contraception utilize and some socio demographic
characters. Contraception utilization was significantly increased with decreasing age
of wives, occupation of wives and their husbands, higher educational level of wives
and their husbands, and higher socio economic classes. There was an association
between contraceptive utilize and some obstetric characters. Contraceptive utilization
was significantly increased with increased no. of female pgregnancies, and increased
no. of living children. It was increased among females had both male female
children, and decreased among females having one sex of children, especially female
children.
The duration of marriage affects greatly the type of utilized contraceptive methods.
IUD was preferred in latest married wives, while injections were preferred in older
married females. Local methods not utilized
Grad School At A Very Good Program
When I met my former fiancГ©, we were both in grad school at a very good
program, working on a mix of loans, grants, and small scholarships to make it
through. Neither of us came from wealthy backgrounds, and our school was very
expensive. We took refuge in the fact that we were the poor kids, surrounded by
many wealthy people who did not have to worry about the same things that we did.
And because we were both on the same (very strict) budget, when it came to things
like dating and romance, we had very similar limits for what constituted a couple s
night. I can count on one hand the times we went out to dinner together to a real
restaurant, and our biggest hobby was probably getting creative with ramen
recipes and watching our shared Netflix account. I loved it because it was him, but
I admit that I was always envious of the other students around me who seemed to
be able to live the way they wanted, without worrying about the cost. We both
graduated within a year of each other, and both got jobs more or less in our chosen
professions. I became a counselor at a charter school for underprivileged but gifted
students, helping guide them into college and choose the best classes. My ex took
a job doing research for a foundation involved with urban planning. We were the
bright eyed, hopeful young couple living in Queens, trying to make the world a
better place in our own naive way. We had a tiny apartment, and both earned meager
salaries, but we were happy and in love. And
Comparison Between Merce Cunningham And Martha
Grahame
The world of contemporary dance is one that is constantly developing and pushing
the boundaries of what makes dance more than just movement. However, it is
questionable that it would be in this diverse state if it was not for a few revolutionary
choreographers. Along with Martha Grahame is could be argued that Merce
Cunningham was a pioneering, revolutionary choreographer who questioned given
standards and procedures creating the diverse contemporary style that we know
today. Revolutionary can be defined as something radically new or innovative;
outside or beyond established procedure and principles (Dictionary.com, 2017). In
order for something to be revolutionary it has to be in relation to something else, this
is certainly true for Cunningham s
How Does Cholesterol Affects Your Body
Cholesterol affects everyone at some point in time. Cholesterol is a lipid, a soft, fat

liver produces a fat like a particle known as cholesterol. People ingest cholesterol

Sage 50 Accounting
QuickBooks and Sage 50 Accounting are both great options for small business
accounting. These programs help manage business finances which can drastically
save time that may have been spent creating Excel spreadsheets and more.
However, while both programs are sufficient for small businesses, the programs
differ based on what they can offer your company. Many users claim that Sage 50
Accounting has a more complex interface than QuickBooks Accounting has. Each
of the software have the ability to customize for easier access, however, the
navigation of QuickBooks is overall more simplified for the average user. There is
also a difference in how the software is offered to its consumers. While QuickBooks

Missing Appointment Essay
Missed Appointments and Cancellation List / EHR
When a patient misses an appointment, it must be noted on their appointment card as
a missed appointment. The patient is to be contacted and the appointment re
scheduled. Patients who chronically miss appointments are to be brought to the
attention of the physician.
Fill In Appointments / EHR
Patients who would like to be seen before their scheduled appointment will be kept on
a list maintained by the receptionist. If an appointment is cancelled on short notice
the receptionist will contact the patients on this list to fill the opening.
Late Patients
Employees are to check with the physician if a patient is more than twenty (20)
minutes late. If the schedule for the rest of the patients will be affected, it may be
necessary to reschedule the patient. As a general rule we will try to accommodate
patients who are occasionally late.
Emergency Appointments
All emergency appointments will be seen as soon as possible. Acute emergencies and
accident patients will be seen immediately. After hours, the patients will be referred to
either the physician or the appropriate emergency health care facility.
Recall Appointments
All patients needing check ups should be scheduled as necessary. Employees should
try to schedule these check ups before the patient leaves. If this is not possible,
schedule on our calendar to call the patient for a return date.

Each patient should be greeted with a friendly and
Ethnic Identity Analysis
This week in class, we discussed a myriad of topics that revolved around the
concept of identity. The three we discussed as a group were Holland s six
personality types, gender identity/sexual orientation, and ethnic identity. The first
group that spoke talked about Holland s six personality types which include
investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, conventional, and realistic. While
people don t fit into just one of these types, the types that define them most give a
good idea of their interests and what they might be good at career wise. When
listening to the descriptions of each type, I was able to identify where I would fall,
investigative and social. This makes sense because I want to be a counselor which
would involve social skills as well as investigative skills. I was also able to tell where
some of the people in our class would fall as well. I find great joy in understanding
others and Holland s personality types are a great way of gaining insight into that.
The third group talked about genderand sexual orientation. This is a topic with a lot
of controversy around it, as well as a lot of gray areas. While I knew a lot of the
terms used in regard to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was the discussion that surprised me most. I came into it knowing the
importance of celebrating one s heritage, but I came out of it with a lot more.
When Dr. Maddy asked us to name television shows with African American or
Hispanic families, I was shocked at how little I could think of. I felt that I was
aware of how unrepresentative the media is, but I realized I hadn t thought deeply
about how this can affect individuals who are trying to form an ethnic identity. If the
only media role model you have is negative, what does this do to your self esteem?
This part of the discussion really made me think about the changes that need to be
made in regard to representation of different ethnicities, genders, and sexual
orientations in our
How Serial Killers came to be Essay
A serial killer is traditional defined as the separate killings of three or more people
by an individual over a certain period of time, usually with breaks between the
murders. (Angela Pilson, p. 2, 2011) This definition has been accepted by both the
police and academics and therefore provides a useful frame of reference (Kevin
Haggerty, p.1, 2009). The paper will seek to provide the readers with an
explanation of how serial killers came to be and how they are portrayed in the
media. Several serial killers have a definitive and common personality profile. Almost
every major social, biological, psychological behavioural influence that has been
seriously suggested as playing a role in causing crime has been thoroughly thought as

According to FBI Special Agent Robert K. Ressler, more than 60 percent of serial
killers went the bed beyond the age of 12. Many are involved in vicious activities.
Frequently, serial murders come from dysfunctional families, where the father is
almost absent and the mother is often passively domineering. (Julieta, p.2, N.D.)
Families of serial killers will often have criminal, psychiatric or alcoholic histories.
Family members often abused the serial killer as they were growing up,
physically, emotionally or sexually. There are 4 major typologies of serial
murders. One type is referred to as visionary type. A visionary type serial killer
murders due to pressure from delusions, hallucinations or visions. They exhibit
extreme psychopathy and do not clean up their crime scene. They often report that
they have committed the crime because voice in their head told them too. Another
type is power and control serial killers, they tend to enjoy their victim s suffering
and torture. They often sexually abuse their victims, but they are not interested by
feelings of desire. Mission orientated serial murders feel as through they are doing
society a favor by murdering certain people such as prostitutes, drug dealers, or
homosexuals, people they feel that society could do without. These murders are very
seldom psychopathic. Last, but not least is known as trill orientated motive type,
Australian Sport
1.0 Introduction
Sport in Australia has developed rapidly, gaining popularity amongst fans and
players, to create a successful industry benefiting from multi million dollar turnovers
each year. Popular sports in Australia have all used money, marketing and media
successfully to increase profits and encourage major participation growth. These
techniques are seen in rugby league, AFL and cricket which all dominate in ratings
and participation. Unlike these sports, volleyball struggles with participation and
viewers, which can be directly linked to its poor use of money, marketing and media
techniques. A range of techniques will be given to increase popularity of volleyball at

First the school should build its participation through its social media accounts and
newsletter to increase participation and exposure. More school comps should be
run with prizes depending on player numbers to encourage new people to have a

participate even if they haven t played for a chance to win. Other schools in the area
should also start school training, eventually resulting in inter school comps which
have small travel time but equal game quality. This would increase participation
because people choose sports where there is a relatively high skill
The Cultural Areas Of The Pacific Ocean
Although many people have no idea that Polynesia really means region of many
islands , I happen to know that this region is made up of three major cultural areas
in the southwest Pacific Ocean. These include Polynesia, and Polynesia s
neighboring cultures, Melanesia and Micronesia. The Polynesian culture is so wide
spread, so practices, customs, norms, etc. all fluctuate by island. The entire culture
can be examined through the seven elements of culture. To begin, these three
cultures are extremely diverse, but very similar. I decided to examine the Polynesian
Culture in particular because it has the highest popularity within the Pacific Islands.
The Polynesian culture is spread across 15 main locations, with thousands of islands
and several countries in between. Each island included in the Polynesian culture is
located within the Polynesian Triangle . The Polynesian Triangle is made up of
three main island groups: Easter Island or Rapa Nui , the Hawaiian Islands, and New
Zealand or Aotearoa islands. Other notable islands within the triangle include the
Tokelau Islands, the Marquesas Islands, the Tuvalu Islands, the Samoan Islands, the
Cook Islands, the Fiji Islands, the Niue Islands, the Tuamotu Islands, the Tahiti
Islands, and the Pitcairn Islands. The Polynesian Culture dates back 2,000 to 3,000
years ago. Major Polynesian cultures include New Zealand MДЃori, Native
Hawaiians, and the indigenous peoples of Easter Island, the Marquesas, SДЃmoa,

Expansionary Economic Policy

In economic terms, a recession is defined as a general slowdown in economic activity.
In an effort to move the economy out of a recession, the government would
implement expansionary economic policies. One action the government would take
would include conducting expansionary fiscal policy. The other action taken would
be conducting expansionary monetary policy. Both of these actions would have an
effect on such things as money supply, interest rates, spending, aggregate demand,

The most common tool used is the open market operations tool. This is used to buy
or sell government bonds on the open market. It is used to manipulate the short
term interest rate and the supply of base money in an economy. The discount rate
is the interest rate a Reserve Bank charges eligible financial institutions to borrow
funds on a short term basis (How the Fed Guides Monetary Policy, 2011). A higher
discount rate can indicate a more restrictive policy, while a lower rate can be used
to signal a more expansive policy (How the Fed Guides Monetary Policy, 2011). All
financial institutions, whether or not they are members of the Federal Reserve System
, must set aside a percentage of their deposits as reserves to be held either as cash
or as reserve account balances. The Federal Reserve sets these requirements for all
commercial banks, savings banks, savings and loans, credit unions, and U.S.
branches and agencies of foreign banks (How the Fed Guides Monetary Policy,
2011). This tool is the least common used of the three. There are two kinds of
assets that banks can count toward meeting the required reserve. The first is valued
cash such as currency and coins. The second, and largest, consists of funds the bank
has on deposit with its direct Reserve Bank (Amacher amp; Pate, 2012). A change in
the reserve ratio is rarely made and when a change is made it usually is in small
amounts. A reduction in the ratio usually

The third goal I have is to lead an authentic life with a partner who cares about me

While creating these goals for myself I was able to think about more cohesive steps

Essay Responsibility. Why is it important to have responsibility. Why personal ...

  • 1. Essay Responsibility Crafting an essay on the theme of "Responsibility" is both a challenging and rewarding endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the need for a comprehensive understanding of the concept but also in the nuanced approach required to address its various facets. Responsibility is a multifaceted topic that spans personal, social, and ethical dimensions, demanding a thoughtful exploration of its implications. To begin, one must grapple with the abstract nature of responsibility, attempting to define it in a way that captures its essence without oversimplifying its complexity. This involves delving into philosophical perspectives, psychological theories, and societal expectations to build a solid foundation for the discussion. Moreover, addressing responsibility necessitates a keen awareness of its diverse manifestations. From personal responsibility in managing one's own actions to social responsibility in contributing to the well-being of the community, the essay must navigate through these intricacies with finesse. Balancing these various dimensions while maintaining coherence and relevance can be a formidable task. Furthermore, the essay must engage with real-world examples and case studies to illustrate the practical implications of responsibility. This requires extensive research and critical analysis, as well as the ability to synthesize information from different sources to construct a compelling argument. The challenge is not only in presenting a theoretical understanding of responsibility but also in encouraging readers to reflect on their own roles and obligations. Crafting a persuasive and thought-provoking essay demands the skill to connect with the audience emotionally and intellectually, urging them to contemplate their own sense of responsibility in light of the ideas presented. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Responsibility" demands a combination of intellectual rigor, research skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. It is an intricate task that requires a careful balance between theory and practice, abstraction and relatability. However, the rewards lie in the potential to inspire critical thinking and foster a deeper understanding of the concept. Essay ResponsibilityEssay Responsibility
  • 2. Separation Of Alantolactone Lab Report 3.2 Selection of soluble silver salt for the mobile phase Soluble silver salt in the mobile phase provided silver ion for the interactions with unsaturated C C bonds. Silver nitrate (AgNO3) that act as sources of silver ions has been frequently used in silver ion chromatography. However, bitrate radical (NO3пјЌ) in the mobile phase has the stronger background absorption among 190 ~ 240 nm as shown in Fig.2a [40]. Since the UV detection wavelength of alantolactone and isoalantolactone was also in the range of 190 to 240 nm as shown in Fig.2b [41], AgNO3 in mobile phase can cause extremely strong background absorption interference, as shown in Fig.2c and Fig.2d. For this reason, we selected silver perchlorate (AgClO4) as sources of silver ions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Variation of the resolution for positional pairs as illustrated in Fig. 3. A separation system in which the silver ions were added into mobile phase for the separation of some geometrical isomers of monoenoic fatty acids in fat and oil samples was investigated by Correa [42], where silver ions concentration in mobile phase at less 60 Mm could achieve good separation. However, for improving the resolution of the two positional isomers in present study, 5.0% of AgClO4 (about 240 Mm) in the mobile phase can obtain the baseline separation. It should be noted that resolution of these two compounds was not unceasingly achieved obvious improvement when concentration of AgClO4 in the mobile phase was increased from 5% to 6% as showed in

  • 4. Perceptions In Psychology On a sunny morning, Mary walks down a street in St. Louis and meets Paul and Helen as they make their usual rounds with their dog. Later that day, she sits in a cafГ© to study a bit and sees her classmate Peter. She finishes her breakfast and gets tired of studying, so she goes to the movies and makes a new friend named Leonard. After a while, Mary gets hungry, and goes to a nearby diner, where she sees her good friend Louis. Within half a day, Mary, who is named after St. Mary, has met with five others that carry the name of a saint. All six happen to live in a Saint city. Is this a coincidence? In figure 1 (Bartley), shown above, ninety eight percent of test subjects agree that Shape A is Kiki while Shape B is Bouba. From studies of sound symbolism, one can infer that before knowing anything about a person or subject, most people already have predetermined feelings about the person or subject. Due to sound symbolism, among other factors, a person s name could potentially affect his or her personality. This is because outside perceptions of one can influence one s self perception (Deluzain). In his book about psychology, Alter mentions every name is associated with demographic baggage (Drunk Tank Pink 9). Different names can indicate a person s age or ethnicity; coupled with the idea that children tend to follow expectations set for them (Bryner), this provides a reason why names can affect a person s personality. When children are met repetitively by a certain expectation, they start to believe what is said about them, that others perception of them is correct, and follow this expectation. Adults too, when in the outside world and met with different biases due to their names, may act the ways others believe them to act, and not how they might naturally act. Names also have different connotations, influencing a person to act a certain way. For example, children with names that are closer to the opposite gender version of the name are influenced to act differently
  • 5. An Analysis Of Maurice Ravel s Le Tombeau De Couperin They say what s old is new again. There is nothing new under the sun. What goes around comes around. History repeats itself. These may be just a few banal sayings, but they might hold true for classical music as well. Maurice Ravel s Le Tombeau de Couperin is one such example. Written during the neo classical and neo baroque movements of the early 1900s, this clever piece ties together French musical traditions, baroque styles, and World War I in just six short pieces. This essay will detail the origins of the suiteform and the neo classical neo baroque movement, and compare Le Tombeau de Couperin with Bach s French Suite no. 5 in G Major, BWV 816. Le Tombeau de Couperin was written from 1914 1917 during World War I. Ravel served in World War I as a truck driver but was discharged in 1916 due to his frailness and poor health (Sebastian, 2010 2016. The war affected Ravel deeply, and it served as part of his inspiration for Le Tombeau de Couperin. Each of the six movements is dedicated to friends that Ravel lost in World War I, as listed in the Dover edition score: I. Prelude: to the memory of Lieutenant Jacques Charlot II. Fugue: to the memory of Secondary lieutenant Jean Cruppi. III. Forlane: to the memory of Lieutenant Gabriel Deluc. IV. Rigaudon: to the memory of Pierre and Pascal Gaudin V. Minuet: to the memory of Jean Dreyfus VI. Toccata: to the memory of Captain Joseph de Marliave (Ravel, 1997) The titular Couperin was a French baroque harpsichordist who wrote and
  • 6. Corinthians 1 Colossian Religion The Church We teach that all who place their faith in Jesus Christ are immediately placed by the Holy Spirit into one united spiritual Body, the church (1 Corinthians 12:12 13), the bride of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:23 32; Revelation 19:7 8), of which Christ is the Head (Ephesians 1:22; 4:15; Colossians 1:18). We teach that the formation of the church, the Body of Christ, began on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1 21, 38 47) and will be completed at the coming of Christ for His own at the rapture (1 Corinthians 15:51 52; 1 Thessalonians 4:13 18). We teach that the church is thus a unique spiritual organism designed by Christ, made up of all born again believers in this present age (Ephesians 2:11 3:6). The church is distinct from Israel (1 Corinthians 10:32), a mystery not revealed until this age (Ephesians 3:1 6; 5:32). We teach that the establishment and continuity of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures (Acts 14:23, 27; 20:17, 28; Galatians 1:2; Philippians 1:1; 1 Thessalonians 1:1; 2 Thessalonians 1:1) and that the members of the one spiritual Body are directed to associate themselves together in local assemblies (1 Corinthians 11:18 20; Hebrews 10:25). We teach that the one supreme authority for the church is Christ (1... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We teach that it is scriptural for true churches to cooperate with each other for the presentation and propagation of the faith. Each local church, however, through its elders and their interpretation and application of Scripture, should be the sole judge of the measure and method of its cooperation. • 7. Examples Of Efficient Market Hypothesis 1. Efficient Market Hypothesis The concept and its assumptions What is Efficient Market Hypothesis? Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH) which published in Eugene Fama s 1965 paper Random Walks In Stock Market Prices . It is based on a random walk theory which earliest examined by Maurice Kendall in 1953, he concluded that the movement of security prices on the security market was random. (Kendall, 1953) An efficient market is defined as a market where there are large numbers of rational, profit maximizers actively competing, with each trying to predict future market values of individual securities, and where important current information is almost freely available to all participants. In an efficient market, competition among the many intelligent participants leads to a situation where, at any point in time, actual prices of individual securities already reflect the effects of information based both on events that have already occurred and on events which, as of now, the market expects to... • 8. The Main Obstacles To The Settlement Of Israel Jews have lived in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) and the Gaza Strip throughout recorded history, until the 1948 War of Independence, when they were forced to flee the invading Arab armies. When Israel captured the West Bank in the 1967 Six Day War, no Israeli citizens lived in the territory. The following year, a small group of religious Jewsrented rooms at the Park Hotel in Hebron for Passover, saying they wanted to be near the Tomb of the Patriarchs, one of the holiest sites in Judaism (as well as Islam and Christianity). The Israeli government reluctantly allowed them to stay temporarily. From that beginning, hundreds of thousands of Israeli Jews now reside in the West Bank, citing religion, history and Israel s security among their reasons for being there. But the Palestinians, along with the rest of the world, see their presence as one of the key obstacles to a peace agreement and the creation of a Palestinian state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The evidence points to the opposite conclusion. From 1949 67, when Jews were forbidden to live on the West Bank, the Arabs refused to make peace with Israel. From 1967 77, the Labor Party established only a few strategic settlements in the territories, yet the Arabs showed no interest in making peace with Israel. In 1977, months after a Likud government committed to greater settlement activity took power, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat went to Jerusalem. One year later, Israel froze settlements, hoping the gesture would entice other Arabs to join the Camp David peace process But none would. In another Camp David summit in 2000, Ehud Barak offered to dismantle most settlements and create a Palestinian state in exchange for peace, and Yasser Arafat rejected the

(Picture courtesy: Northouse, 2013) Leadership is a process whereby individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal (Northouse, 2013, p. 5). So, to better understand the fundamental principles preceding leadership philosophy, we have to understand the theory of leadership development and its essential characteristics. The leadership theories that are greatest associated with my personal developmental plan are the theory of relationship and transformational leadership. The transformational leadership theory is allied with my personal development plan because it is also known as the transformational leadership model, which emphases on the influences that inspires both the leader and the followers. According to this theory, the main elements or fundamental base is created on vision, trust, power, authenticity, motivation, and communication. The development within the organization depend on, how the leaders lead the organization and distinguish the change or growth. Drucker (2012) has provided the five basic functions of organizational work culture like; planning, organizing, controlling, motivating and coordinating. The transformational leader understands these basic factors and inspire and encourage those who perceive the importance of the higher good of the task.

Generation View Of Reality Essay Generation s View of Reality Ben Stiller s 1994 film, Reality Bites, portrays the broad based struggles of America s twentysomethings through a lighthearted glimpse into the lives of the movie s main characters. • 12. Character Analysis Of Guy Montag I ve always wondered if Guy Montag, the main character of Fahrenheit 451, was actually the hero or just the bad guy in the story. Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 is a story about a man named Guy Montag who in the beginning of the book was seen as the bad guy, but later on changes after meeting a girl named Clarisse who changes his views of things. In the world that Guy lives in, books are against the law and once you break that law firemen would come and burn your books along with the house. In this essay, I am going to explain why Guy Montagis Shown as a bad and good person and whether I consider him a hero or not. In the beginning of the book, Guy is shown to be the antagonist, because he was working as a fireman. You may think why would someone working as a fireman be bad . Well in this story firemen don t stop fires, but instead, they do the opposite. A fireman s duty is to burn down the books and the house the book came from. At this point of the book, Guy enjoyed spraying the kerosene, and watching the bright red flames, he didn t mind walking into his house listening to Mildred, his wife talking to her family on the tv wall. To me, Guy is the type of antagonist that does whatever he is told without thinking, basically like a controlled bad guy. He doesn t really know what his purpose is in life. Guy thinks that being a fireman is an honor and that he is saving those who have ruined their minds with the gibberish you call a book.Everything changed once Guy met

  • 14. Community Mental Health Movement Of The United States Community Mental Health Movement For many years, people who suffered with mental illness were more often than not institutionalized and severely mistreated. The history of the Mental Health movement begins in 1909. The history of advocacy began with Clifford W. Beers. Beers, himself an ex psychiatric patient who, after his release, crusaded to bring mental health and mental illness to the attention of his fellow citizens (Pols). In 1908, Beers published his autobiography, A Mind That Found Itself, which roused the nation to the plight of people with mental illnesses and set a reform movement into motion (Our History). Beers advocacy for the mentally ill was just the beginning for what would be the development of several new policies and programs that to this day continue to develop. On February 19, 1909 Beers, along with philosopher William James and psychiatrist Adolf Meyer, embraced that future by creating the National Committee for Mental Hygiene, later the National Mental Health Association and what we know today as the Mental Health America ( Our History). The year 1921 marked the beginning of the child guidance movement. Its goal was to prevent juvenile delinquency through involvement of the Child Guidance clinics in the youth s lives. The American Orthopsychiatric Associated was founded in 1924 at the initiative of Karl Menninger . Its aim was to promote the medical view of crime, namely that criminals should be considered psychiatric patients (Pols). In 1946,

One named Montresor, seeks revenge on the other, named Fortunato. The reason is unknown. The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge. You, who so well know the nature of my soul, will not suppose, however, that gave utterance to a threat. At length I would be avenged; this was a point definitely, settled but the very definitiveness with which it was resolved precluded the idea of risk. I must not only punish but punish with impunity. A wrong is unredressed when retribution overtakes its redresser. It is equally unredressed when the avenger fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong. (Edgar Poe 1) Montresor feels that he has been hurt so bad that he has to get revenge. He does not say what was done to him. He shows that he has taken it very personally and to the heart. Montresor s mindset is that he has to get revenge in a way that he does not get caught doing so. If he does get caught then he will not have revenge. Here is where we see Montresor s anger for Fortunato. Montresor finds Fortunato in the city celebrating and drinking. He tells him about a drink called Amontillado that he wants him to drink. He talks about how good it is and lures him to go with him. A big thing that helped lure in Fortunato was when Fortunato was coughing and seemed sick, Montresor showed

When I was in high school I suffered from depression. When I was a freshman I was diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) which is also called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). This could be described as a disease that is characterized by profound fatigue, sleep abnormalities, pain, and other symptoms that only become worse with the exertion of energy. CFS is very hard to diagnose because a lot of the symptoms resemble depression. A big difference is that People with depression usually feel very tired and aren t interested in doing any activity, regardless of the task or the required amount of effort. Meanwhile, those with chronic fatigue syndrome usually want to engage in activities but just feel too tired to do so (Nall, 2015). For me, everything that came along with having CFS is what caused me to have depression. When I was diagnosed at the end of freshman year, my parents made the decision to homeschool me so that I could have treatment. Analysis Of The Article Cutting Motherhood In their article Cutting Motherhood in Two: Some Suspicions Concerning Surrogacy , Hilde Lindemann Nelson and James Lindemann Nelson argue against the idea of commercial surrogacy. Their main argument revolves around the rights that biological parents owe to the children they bring into the world. This argument can be formulated as follows: 1) Bringing a child into the world makes a child vulnerable to harm, 2) Both of a child s biological parents have duties and obligations to defend the child from harm, 3) Only biological parents can fulfill the duties to defend the child from harm and it is immoral for a parentnot to do so, 4) Surrogate motherhood contracts require the biological motherto give up her parental rights, 5) Giving up parental rights prevents the biological mother from fulfilling her duties to the child, Therefore, 6) Surrogate motherhood contracts are immoral because the duties to the child are not met. This argument is, as any good argument must be, logically valid. It is impossible to disagree with the conclusion if the premises are true. However, this argument is unsound because not all of the premises are true. Biological parents are not the only people who can fulfill the duties owed to a child and protect them from harm. Surrogate motherhood contracts do not prevent the duties owed to the child from being met. As a fact of life, there are harms in the world that one is exposed to just by being alive. • 28. Persuasive Essay On Winning Competition is defined by the Merriam Webster s Collegiate Dictionary as a contest between rivals. Many views winning as the optimum outcome for their favorite athlete or sport s team. Henry Russell Sanders said, Sure, winning isn t everything; it s the only thing. A similar but different phrase was echoed by Vince Lombardi. He said, Winning isn t important, but the desire to win is. The desire to win is what pushes all to be the best they can be. A healthy society should not be obsessed with winning. Winning, after all, isn t what makes someone the best at something. Sure, Suzy could win the tennis match, but if she has no drive to repeat the action of winning again, what s the point? One example of why the desire to win is best is found in the life of Albert Einstein. This man didn t really excel in school, but he kept working and trying his hardest. In fact, he eventually went to solve many of the great mysteries of physics. However, he didn t make his discoveries until later in life. This shows that if one keeps working hard things will eventually work themselves out, even if it takes. Another example of this principle can found in the life of Phiona. She learned to play chess as a little girl in the slums of Uganda, and she eventually went on to become a chess champion. She, however, wasn t always the best at chess. She lost the very first game she ever played, and this loss sparked her desire to improve the game and to eventually win many matches. She proves

It is a time full of innocence, love, light and freedom with little to no worries. Childhood has not always been described as this, full of hope and dreams and aspirations, the time to just have fun and not to worry about the future, or wealth. Before the 1800s, childhoodwas not a thing and children were just seen as miniature adults, with no value, other than to carry on families. It was not until after the 1800s were childhood become a national phenomenon. Childhood is set to be this time were its all play and no work, where your parents or guardian is supposed to take care of you, but what about the children that do not have this luxury? Although childhood is a modern day universal subject recognized, not all children get to live their lives the way they are meant to . The problem is dormant within certain societies for many reasons. One is the concept of developed and developing countries and their debt crisis, and another is western and non Western ideals. With these battling each other, it is hard to communicate which one is right versus which one is wrong. When it comes to children and work, is it wrong? Is it ok? Should it be outlawed? Through universal and critical approaches, it will be shown that although childlabour is against the UNCRC, it is crucial for children in some parts of the world to have this active role. While at first succeeding in a campaign against Austria, continued failures afterwards led soldiers and sailors to mutiny. The failed campaigns demoralized the nation and unwittingly increased support for the anti war Bolsheviks. By attempting to send some units of the Petrograd garrison to the front, the government made situations worse, eventually escalating to chaotic desertions of army garrisons. The Provisional Government failed to solve much of the issues that racked the nation, especially the ever present problem of lack of food and the redistribution of the land that the peasants wanted. In this way the Bolshevik party appealed to the masses, using attractive slogans such as Peace, Bread and Land! and All Power to the Soviets! Whether or not they would fulfil their promises meant little as

A satelliteis a moon, planet, or a machine that orbit a planet or a star. There are many types of satellites and each one is used for different reasons. Some satellites are used to send and receive television signals. Some other satellites are used in communications by making it possible to send and receive signals from phones, fax, internet and computers to people all over the world. Other satellites are used in forecasting by giving information about the earth s weather to scientists. Also, there is another type of satellites that take accurate picture of earth to show the environmental situation such as resources, pollution and statistics of crops and water (NOAA, 2014). Satellites improved a lot in the daily life uses such as weather forecasting, documenting information, communication and positioning systems. The idea of satellites The development of the invention started in 1952 when the International Council of Scientific Unions decided to start a project named International Geophysical Year which started on July1, 1957 and ended on December31, 1958. • 35. Public Bills And The House Of Commons Arguably, the scrutiny of Public Bills has depended more on the House of Lords than it has on the House of Commons in recent years. The term scrutiny means the critical observation or examination regarding the Public Bills. The effectiveness of the scrutiny could be measured in a variety of ways, such as the period of time the bill stays in parliament for, and whether parliament can take on board evidence from committees and implement the bills into legislation. In order to determine if the House of Lordshas been more effective than the House of Commons in scrutinising public bills, it is crucial to compare and contrast the effectiveness of the procedures used in both houses. In the Lords, the Labour peers opposition backed an amendment, meaning the voter turn out threshold of 40 per cent for the referendum result on alternative vote was to be binding. Although this amendment was overturned in the House of Commons, another amendment regarding constituency boundaries was cross party supported and authorised by government. This amendment was that the Isle of Wight should remain as one constituency, instead of being separated into two. This bill took 17 days to go through the Lords which included one twenty hour overnight sitting, showing how greatly debated the bill was. A more recent example of the Lords effectively scrutinising public bills was related to the Growth and Infrastructure Act 2013, where the Lords raised concern about two parts of this bill: local planning and employment rights. The Lords made an amendment to the bill, allowing councils to opt out of the planning scheme, which was overturned by the Commons. The Lords challenged the Commons, and so the government decided that home owners wishing to build extensions would have to notify the council of their plans, who would then inform their neighbours. Only if their neighbours raised an objection would the council have to intervene. This highlights how the House of Lords are arguably more effective in scrutinizing public bills, as this amendment,
  • 36. The Critical Problem Faced by a Firm in an Oligopoly The critical problem faced by a firm in an oligopoly is that its decisions affect the prices and quantities of its rivals. The oligopoly problem arises because, where there are only a few suppliers to the market; the demand for the product of one firm depends significantly on the price and output. A non cooperative duopoly is an industry consisting of two firms in which firms take their decisions independently and can be classified according to whether firms treat quantity or price as the key strategic variable. When it comes to quantity setting there are two major models put forward. The first, developed by Cournot in 1838 is based on firms setting quantities simultaneously where each firm is setting the output that maximises its profit... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On day 3 firm 2 will expect firm 1 to continue its previous output level so keeps it own output level unchanged. Yet firm 1 cuts its output, this being a lagged response to the entry of firm 2. Therefore day 3 output combination is on 1 d reaction curve but not on 2 s reaction curve. Given the shapes of the reaction curve as the process continues it converges on the Cournot equilibrium which is a stable. Further support of this equilibrium position comes from the single period game theoretic model in which it is common knowledge that both firms have complete information and that both firms are rational. A distinct feature of a Cournot equilibrium termed the Cournot Nash equilibrium, is where each firm maximises its profit given its expectation of the output choice of the other firm. To argue that the Cournot equilibrium holds both firms would expect its rival to produce at the equilibrium and thus the firms are rational. This process uses elimination of expectations to arise at the equilibrium. It would not be consistent with it being common knowledge that both firms are rational for firm 1 to expect firm 2 to produce q2. Firm 1 s reasoning would be that firm 2 will not produce q2 because firm 2 would only do so if firm 2 expected firm 1 to produce q1. But firm 2 knows that firm 1 would not produce as a high quantity as that even if firm 1 were a monopolist. Further, firm 2

With all of these names, Edward Teach was most commonly known as Blackbeard, and that is how he is remembered in history. Blackbeard received his nickname from his long, black, gruff looking beard that covered most of his face. He never trimmed his beard, and because of this, it grew down to his chest and was very bushy. During raids, he would braid his long hair and beard and tie slow burning, hemp fuses to the ends of his beard. He would light the fuses during battle to make his head look like it were on fire, giving him a very scary look. The effect was terrifying. His face, with its fierce eyes and matted hair, was wreathed in smoke, and he looked to his prey like a fiend from hell (Botting, Douglas В– The Pirates). The Cultural Areas Of The Pacific Ocean Although many people have no idea that Polynesia really means region of many islands , I happen to know that this region is made up of three major cultural areas in the southwest Pacific Ocean. These include Polynesia, and Polynesia s neighboring cultures, Melanesia and Micronesia. The Polynesian culture is so wide spread, so practices, customs, norms, etc. all fluctuate by island. The entire culture can be examined through the seven elements of culture. To begin, these three cultures are extremely diverse, but very similar. I decided to examine the Polynesian Culture in particular because it has the highest popularity within the Pacific Islands. The Polynesian culture is spread across 15 main locations, with thousands of islands and several countries in between. Each island included in the Polynesian culture is located within the Polynesian Triangle . The Polynesian Triangle is made up of three main island groups: Easter Island or Rapa Nui , the Hawaiian Islands, and New Zealand or Aotearoa islands. The most common tool used is the open market operations tool. This is used to buy or sell government bonds on the open market. It is used to manipulate the short term interest rate and the supply of base money in an economy. All financial institutions, whether or not they are members of the Federal Reserve System , must set aside a percentage of their deposits as reserves to be held either as cash or as reserve account balances. The Federal Reserve sets these requirements for all commercial banks, savings banks, savings and loans, credit unions, and U.S. branches and agencies of foreign banks (How the Fed Guides Monetary Policy, 2011). This tool is the least common used of the three. There are two kinds of assets that banks can count toward meeting the required reserve. The first is valued cash such as currency and coins. The second, and largest, consists of funds the bank has on deposit with its direct Reserve Bank (Amacher amp; Pate, 2012). A change in the reserve ratio is rarely made and when a change is made it usually is in small amounts. A reduction in the ratio usually

This has had an impact on my life growing up because I was bullied for a majority of my life and going to Disney was the one place where I did not feel judged. I want to be able to spread that magic and joy to other children, especially those who have similar stories, by making them feel special and included because I know how life changing that was for me. The third goal I have is to lead an authentic life with a partner who cares about me and allows me to be my true self. I believe that in society people work too hard to please others and fit into the mold of what is viewed as normal. I know that this lifestyle does not allow for authenticity or creativity because I have adhered to it for several years and am now starting to face the consequences of not being my true self around my family and friends. I want to be with someone who makes me feel celebrated and special for who I am whether it be having funky colored hair, going to Disney World as an adult, saying sarcastic funny comments, or whatever other aspects make up my being. While creating these goals for myself I was able to think about more cohesive steps that will lead me in the right direction towards achieving them.
