The Story Of The Darko Farms In Africa
In africa there is a say When an elder dies, it is as if an entire library has burned to the ground.
this makes me understand that we can link our living to the past; therefore, we need to tell your
grandchildren the story of the struggles waged, at home and abroad and of the sacrifices made
for freedom s sake. And tell them our own story of life as well because everyone has a story to
tell. A few short happenings of things I remember of being told of the Darko farms which was one
of the biggest farms in Ghana and it s currently doing well in the agriculture. This farming project
was initiated by great grandparentduring the 1960, and this became one of the biggest familyjob for
my family. however, out of the struggle and success the family was established and it grew
large. my great parent were married in back in the 1915 with 5 children were born at in the
Ashanti region in Ghana and three children at Cleland. One of these children were my grandfather
Albert adu boahen, Boahen was my grandfather s mother s name, five children were born at the
northern part of the country during that time it was called the Gold coast. The Darko farms was
solely harvesting cocoa and other crops, but after were converted to the Church. They migrated
from from the northern part of the country with a family of nine children one baby boy was buried

The Human Body And All The Organ System
The human body is in a constant state of movement even when seemingly still. This constant
movement is crucial for the human body and all the organ systems it contains. Movement although
overlooked is more complicate than many would believe. The human body has many functions
which are maintained by the movement of muscles and blood, as well as other bi products of the
organ systems. The Integumentary, Cardiovascular, and Tissue systems are capable of movement
both internal and external allowing for the continuous cycle that keeps the human body functioning.
The most important system that relies on movement is the Cardiovascular system. The
Cardiovascular system is mainly composed of the heart, blood vessels, and about 5.5 liters of
blood. ()The system itself is constantly moving, internally and externally.() The heart itself is a
muscular pumping organ that helps with the transport of oxygen and waste via the blood system.
() Specifically the pulmonary circulation, composed of the right atrium and ventricle, is primarily
used to transport deoxygenated blood from the right side of the heart to the lungs in which the
blood is filled with oxygen, returning to the heart and then transported by the systemic
circulation, composed of the left atrium and ventricle, which carries the blood to the rest of the
body. ()The systemic circulation also carries waste away from the tissue and carries deoxygenated
blood back to the heart.() Blood vessels are also a part of this process because

Taking a Look at Water Chlorination
4.0 Water Chlorination
4.1 What is water chlorination?
Water chlorination is another process that is commonly used in the water treatment industry.
Chlorination can be defined as the addition of chlorine or hypochlorite to a water supply for
disinfection purposes. Pathogens present in drinking water can cause serious diseases upon
consumption and therefore need to be treated (Safe Drinking Water Foundation, 2009). Chlorination
is one of the various methods that is used to deactivate these pathogens and can be found in
operation at many municipal works across the country, including Killylane water treatment works. It
is often found as one of the final stages in a multiple stage treatment process, usually following a
filtration process.
Pathogens come in a variety of forms, such as viruses, bacteria or protozoa, and can have
devastating, even fatal consequences if not treated in a water supply. Before the mainstream
introduction of disinfection into the water treatment process, waterborne pathogens regularly
caused epidemics, and diseases like typhoid, cholera and dysentery were rife (Scientific American,
1998). As has been mentioned in the previous chapter, the rapid gravity filtration process is
relatively ineffective at removing these pathogens from the water and therefore disinfection is
required as a follow up treatment. Adding chlorine to water can inhibit a large range of microbial
waterborne pathogens, either killing them or decreasing their activity to a

Comparing The Works Of Paul Laurence Dunbar And Maya...
In the words of Former Attorney General of the United States, Loretta Lynch, This country was
founded on a promise of equal rights for all, and we have always managed to move closer to that
promise, little by little, one day at a time. It may not be easy but we ll get there together. Rosa
Parks fought for herself and other people of color to gain equal rights, which not only impacted
her generation, but also future societies. Throughout Rosa s journey, she mirrors the image of the
caged bird written in Paul Laurence Dunbar and Maya Angelou s poems, due to the events that
changed her and released her from her cage. Even though the path for equal rights was not always
easy, Rosa Parksand the oppressed men and women led the revolution that broke them free from
segregation laws. Before Rosa Parks and other colored civilians in the United States during the
1900 s broke free from their cages, they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Segregation laws impacted the everyday lives of people of color, from stores, to transportation.
As stated in Rosa Parks My Story, Then he spoke a second time: y all better make it light on
yourselves and let me have those seats (3). Buses were one of the more controversial issues
during this period, so people of color were often told to move for white males. African
Americans, similar to the birds in Dunbar and Angelous poems felt trapped. Rosa and many
others feared being tormented, so most complied with the segregation laws that were in place.
Also mentioned in My Story, written by Rosa Parks, ...my grandfather would have his gun right

back of the wagon (5). People of color had to always be cautious about their actions, and had to

Arab Spring American Revolution
The Arab Spring is generally defined as the series of anti government protests, uprisings and
armed rebellions that spread across the Middle East in early 2011. Almost all of the major
countries in the Middle East such as Syria, Jordan, and Morocco were all involved in these
protests. Each country had unique demands that led to major uprising throughout the Middle East.
Through a major exploration and study, it is clear the Arab Spring had key reasons for failing and
succeeding which has led to modern day conflicts.
Syria is the clearest proof that the Arab Spring failed. The main reforms Syrian protesters desired
was freedom from the Assad regime, allowance of political parties, equal rights for Kurds, and the
freedom of speech press and authority. Not only did the protesting against Bashar Al Assad fail, but
it lead to an ongoing civil war that has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King Mohammed VI led an absolute monarchy in the country and many Moroccans fought for
octal and economic reform, which is exactly what they got. The King willingly gave up a
majority of his power and had a re election for all of parliament. In Jordan, King Abdullah was
faced with upset from his people due to unemployment and government corruption. As a result of
these complaints, Abdullah allowed for a re election for parliament as well as considering the
possibility for Jordan to be a democratic state. Clearly the Arab Spring can still be argued as a
success do to the peaceful and satisfying results of protests in countries like Morocco and Jordan.
The Arab Spring is faced with many different initial goals and resulting outcomes. Due to the vast
amount of countries involved in the uprising, there is not concrete way to answer if the Arab
Spring was truly a success or failure. Each country has different cultural, social, religious, and
economic situations which greatly affected the result of each country s

Analysis Of The Article Why Parents Need To Let Their...
In the article Why Parents Need to Let Their Children Fail Lahey illustrates overprotective
parents (helicopter parenting). Lahey shows a perfect example at the beginning of the article
where a mother wrote her child s essay and plagiarized it; she gave excuses like my kid has a lot of
work or I don t want her to be overstressed. This type of parentingmakes teachers jobs more
difficult because the student is not learning the material if their parents are doing their homework.
Overall Lahey argues that overparenting is damaging towards a child s growth; I agree that this is
destructive to a kid, because if they do not learn how to fail when they are younger than they have a
sense of entitlement in the future.
Lahey is correct about how children will be stuck in a state of helplessness , which I see every
day. Every day at work I witness how children are not able to answer a simple yes or no question
without their parent there to guide them. This has caused them to believe they are incapable of
being in control of their own lives in a way. Many parents come in asking me if their child did their
homework instead of asking the child and holding them accountable for doing it or not. I have
witnessed children that know all the answers to a math worksheet but go to their parents for the
answers instead of even trying. Children who grow up unprepared for the world are unable to deal
with the emotional hardships of not having their parents to lean on every step they are unable to
cope with not getting their way. Similarly, Lahey explains how parents who raise their children in a
state of helplessness and powerlessness, children destined to an anxious adulthood, lacking the
emotional resources they will need to cope with inevitable setback and failure. (Lahey 3) If a child
is unable to master what I call thick skin when they are young then in the future every little thing
will hurt their feelings. Thick skin is made when your parents give you chores and hold you
responsible if they are not done. Future adults that had helicopter parents will be unable to put up
the dishes without needing reassurance that they are doing it correctly. These parents are ultimately
giving their children a false sense of protection for

The Legend Of Merlin Research Paper
The character Merlin is an ever changing character in his legend, The Legend of Merlin. From
being the child of a demon to destroying everything having to do with magic, his life is a story
of sorcery, betrayal, and, for the most part, fairy tale love. In this great legend, he rids himself of
his magical roots by forgetting the last of any pagan beings. Through his adventures, he loses
loved ones, is betrayed by friends, wins the heart of a princess, and saves the hearts of England
from the old ways. Merlins family is one unlike any other. He is the son of a princess and
according the text and movie, his father is a demon. In the movie, Queen Mab, queen of the old
ways, creates Merlin to save paganism, but he resents these ways because Queen... Show more

He is always trying to protect his loved ones, and goes against his emotions to defeat his spiritual
mother, queen mab. Merlin is a wizard in training but is still able to use his powers. When he
does have the ability to use them, or has prophetic visions, he is able to make wise choices as to
what to use them for, such as saving Nimue, or using his vision of the dragons to know who is
next in line for the throne, rather that using his powers for evil and the upkeep of the old ways.
Merlin is also a protective person. In the movie, the adulterous lover of Lancelot was being
burned at the stake for treason. Mordred, Merlin s son, told Merlin to burn her at the stake, but,
seeing how burning her was unfair, he used his powers to make rain, putting out the fire, and
saving the princess in the last second. Being wise and protective are great personality traits,
being headstrong is what allows him to defeat Queen Mab and the evil ways. In the movie, he
goes against all of his emotions and destroys the final creatures of the pagan ways. He even
ignores her when she tells him she loves him for the first time. Merlin is a character of nobility and
strength, who uses his powers for the protection of the people of Britain and

However, theories surrounding the moon landing have come to light. Conspiracy theorists say
NASA, the National Aeronautics Space Administration, have faked the Apollo 11

present evidence can support the authenticity of the moon landing. Evidence such as photos, rock

Dr. David Mckay, Chief Scientist for Planetary Science and Exploration at the Johnson Space
Center, concludes, Moon rocks are absolutely unique... They differ from Earth rocks in many
aspects. The rocks contain a composition unlike the composition of rocks from Earth. Randy L.
Korotev of the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences of Washington University in St.
Louis gives, Lunar samples show evidence of formation in an extremely dry environment with
essentially no free oxygen and little gravity... Lunar rocks and soil contain gases (hydrogen,
helium, nitrogen, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon) derived from the solar wind with isotope
ratios different than Earth forms of the same gases. The ability to imitate, or reconstruct, a fake
lunar rock is ludicrous. Lunar rock samples are simply composed of too many foreign materials
for any scientist to recreate, even for the government. Moreover, the lunar rocks have been
inspected internationally by a myriad of scientists. As any scientist who observed the rock, they
will say the lunar rock has a more consistent composure of iron oxide (FeO) to manganese oxide
(MnO). Rocks from earth may appear similar, but the composition of Earth rock is far more
inconsistent than any lunar rock. Korotev himself says best, It was easier and cheaper to go to the
Moon and bring back some rocks than it would have been to create all these fascinating features on
Earth. Inspected by many and unopposed, the lunar rocks

3D Printing Analysis
NASA
Back in 2014, NASA used 3D printing to create a ratchet wrench. Even though this tool will not
be used in space, they are looking into 3D printers on board, the reason, astronauts may need a tool
they do not have and they will need to print one. Since files can be sent via email, the possibilities,

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Biometrics
There are many biometric techniques in existence today. Face recognition technology is one of
them which make use of computer software to determine the identity of the person. Today
conservative methods of identification like possession of certain type of identity cards, use of
passwords etc. are not at all reliable for identity purposes where security is a critical factor. There
is no surety in the fact that person using ATM card to withdraw money from any ATM machine
is actual owner of the card. When credit and ATM cards are lost or stolen, it is not a big game
for the unauthorized user to make an accurate guess of the correct personal codes. It is a
common practice between we people that despite of strict warning we continue to choose easily
guessed PIN s and passwords. Often we prefer our birthdays, cell numbers, house numbers and
vehicle numbers. Identity cards can be lost, fake or misplaced and passwords can be forgotten or
compromised. But a face is unquestionably connected to its owner. Face does not suffer the
limitations of been borrowed, stolen or easily copied. Face recognition technology is the fastest and
least intrusive biometric technology. Human face is one such part of the human body that can help...

Endocrine vs. Nervous System
Endocrine Vs Nervous System
The endocrine system acts with nervous system to coordinate the body s activities.
Both systems enable cells to communicate with others by using chemical messengers.
The endocrine system uses chemical messengers called hormones that are transported by the
circulatory system (blood). They act on target cells that may be anywhere in the body.
The endocrine system is slower than the nervous system because hormones must travel through the
circulatory system to reach their target.
Target cells have receptors that are specific to the signaling molecules. The binding of hormones to
the receptors on or within the target cell produces a response by the target cell. The chemical
messengers used by the nervous system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alcohol inhibits the release of ADH, causing the kidneys to produce dilute urine.
Control of the Anterior Pituitary
The hypothalamus produces hormones that travel in blood vessels to the anterior pituitary,
stimulating it to produce other hormones.
The hormones produced by the hypothalamus are called hypothalamic releasing hormones. The
anterior pituitary produces at least six different hormones. Each one is produced in response to a
specific hypothalamic releasing hormone.
The blood vessel that carries hypothalamic releasing hormones from the hypothalamus to the
pituitary is called a portal vein because it connects two capillary beds. One capillary bed is in the
hypothalamus and the other is in the anterior pituitary.
Release inhibiting hormones produced by the hypothalamus inhibit the pituitary from secreting its
hormones. Example
The pituitary is stimulated to release growth hormone (GH) by growth hromone releasing hormone
(GHRH) produced in the hypothalamus. It is inhibited from releasing growth hormone by growth
hormone release inhibiting hormone(GHRIH), also produced by the hypothalamus. Six different
hormones produced by the anterior lobe will be studied here. Three of these have direct effects on
the body, the other three control other glands. Anterior Pituitary Hormones that Directly Affect the

What Do You Mean By Bringing Your Dog To Work
In the first passage, it describes why bringing your dog to work would be a good idea. Research

Ready-to-Eat Breakfast
R T E Cereal Breakfast Industry
Name: Andres Gil
Competitive Analysis and Strategy
The ready to eat (RTE) cereal industry has grown steadily, with a compounded annual volume rate
of three percent between 1950 and 1993. It success during the 20th century had been driven by the
surge of consumer s interest in healthy and dietary food. After World War II there was an increase
demand for vitamin fortification products. During the 50 s, pre sweetening gained popularity
among Americans and in the 70 s and through the 80 s consumer s preferences turned to granola

The more new entrants that enter the market, the more saturated and fragmented it becomes for
everyone. Brand name recognition plays a role in the RTE cereal industry. A company with a strong
brand name such as Kellogg can sometimes retain a customer even if its prices are higher than
competitors.
Power of suppliers:
There are many suppliers in this industry due to the simplicity of the materials, basic food
ingredients, needed to manufacture these products. Subsequently, supplier s cost remains relatively
low compared to other industries.
Power of buyers:
Given the number of products available, the bargaining power of customers in this industry is very
high. The two main drivers for customer s preferences are quality and price, there is no service
involved.
Threat of substitutes:
This category is very high in the RTE cereal industry. RTE cereals compete with every single
breakfast buyer option that is out in the market. For instance, a person might choose to eat an egg
sandwich or fruits or pancakes rather than cereals. Through high advertising costs, RTE cereal
companies create brand awareness among consumers by presenting their products as the healthier
breakfast option and therefore remain competitive.
Competitive rivalry:
This industry had been heavily concentrated by the big three companies during the last 90

life lessons about what was right and wrong. Another way Erik made Paul more mature is on

Conservative Judaism sustains the idea in the Torah came from God, but was interpreted by
humans and contains a human element in it. Conservative Judaism generally accepts the
required nature of halakhah, but like Reconstructionist Judaism believes that the Law should
adapt, taking into account the changes in society while also remaining true to Judaism s values.
Orthodox Jews believe that God gave Moses the whole Torah, the written and oral at Mount
Sinai. Modern Orthodox Jews follow halakhah very precisely, but still attempt to integrate into
modern society. Ultra Orthodox Jews, like Chasidic Jews, strictly observe Jewish laws and don t
attempt to integrate into modern society by dressing traditionally and living separately. Judaism
consists of many holidays where Jews celebrate their religious devotion. For example, Hanukkah
the festival of lights. Jews light Hanukkah candles to remember the miracle of the oil that burnt
for eight days and the miracle of the Maccabees victory. Its said that after three years of fighting,
the Maccabees succeeded to drive the Greco Syrians out of Judea. The lights remind the Jews of
the miracles and of the struggle for religious freedom. Also, Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement)

The Years, And Midnight Cowboy Won Best Screenplay
Midnight Cowboy, Network, and American Beauty have one thing in common, and it s not that
they were all Best Picture films; only Midnight Cowboy and American Beauty were. What these
three films have in common, is their ability to stand out in the Best Screenplay race at the
Academy Awards. American Beauty and Network both won Best Original Screenplay in their
years, and Midnight Cowboy won Best Adapted Screenplay. These films are still widely talked
about, not only because they won these awards, but because their screenplays are strong enough to
stand on their own. Each of these screenplays were able to introduce their audiences to unique
characters, taboo themes, and stories that crossed the boundaries of their time. In my opinion, what
makes a filmspecial is the screenplay, and even more than that, what makes a screenplay is its
ability to have a second agenda while telling an intriguing a story. In other words, if a screenplay
can do something more than just stand for entertainment value if it has a message that makes its
audience think or opens their eyes to a lifestyle or idea unbeknownst to them, or at the very least,
teaches them something without being preachy it has the makings of a good screenplay. If the film,
that has a message, is also very intriguing and entertaining, it will stand out amongst the rest. This is
why I believe Midnight Cowboy, Network, and American Beauty won the awards that they won. It
was not just because they had great directors, actors,

The Bhopal Disaster
It has been widely understood that UCC and the Indian government utilized one major type of
management style that may have contributed to this disaster and is regarded as Top Down
management. This style is still in use today by many corporations, however it is recognized as
only being effective in certain situations (Fortun Embrary , 2001). For example, many corporations
utilize top down when a change needs to be implemented. Executives are able to directly lay out
their expectations and what is expected. More specifically, everyone knows the rules and
regulations developed by upper management, and follows them. However, regarding the Bhopal
disaster, this management style is ineffective because middle management has no power to... Show

II. Since the Bhopal disaster we have gained invaluable insight on top down management
strategies and how they can still effective today versus in 1984. Top down strategies have been
productively used here in the United States, even before the Bhopal disaster, and are still utilized
today. It is because of disasters like Bhopal that we have been able to reanalyze and improve upon
age old strategies and make them more productive. Today, top down management is primarily used
during major change in a corporation s mission, or structure (Hicks, 2013). Researchers of the
Bhopal disaster have voiced their theories on this matter, and have said that middle management
was partly responsible because of their inability, or laziness to enforce regulatory safety and
maintenance protocols established by the Indian government, and UCC (Mac Sheoin Pearce, 2015).
Since top down management hinders the ability of the bottom level to effectively communicate
with the upper level, many aspects of the work required weren t necessarily ignored, they just weren
t communicated effectively to employees. Even if communicated effectively, employees were
unmotivated and probably performed inadequately (Pearson Mitroff, 1993). Today, managers

Compare And Contrast Essay On Calpurnia
Calpurnia is a much better mother figure than Alexandra. Calpurnia is a great mother figure.
She is also a good role model for Jem and Scout. She works hard at the Finch house, which Scout
notices. By watching Calpurnia work, Scout learns that there is skill in being a girl. Calpurnia
also is a caring woman and puts other people above herself. When the kids alert Calpurnia about
the mad dog, Calpurnia takes charge of the situation. She calls Atticus to help and warns everyone
in the neighborhood, even the Radleys though they would not respond. She makes the kids go
inside and risks herself to help and warn everyone of Tim Johnson. Calpurnia set a great example

mother. One example was when Scout was disrespecting Walter Cunningham even though he was
a guest over for dinner. Calpurnia pulled Scout away from the table and reprimanded her for not
treating Walter as company. Like any other good mother, Calpurnia comforts and spends lots of
time with the kids. When Jem was growing up and leaving Scout behind, Jem lashed out at Scout

comforted her by calmly talking it through. Calpurnia also found things to do with Scout in the

Pigs Slaughter And The Slaughter Of All Livestock
Hog slaughter and the slaughter of all livestock has been a controversial topic over the last few
years. With many organizations out there against animal agriculture such as the Humane Society of
the United States (HSUS) and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) there has been a
constant push to find the most humane act of livestockharvest as possible while still maintaining
excellent meatquality. Currently, there are four acceptable methods: chemical (Carbon Dioxide
CO2), mechanical (captive bolt), mechanical (gunshot), and electrical (electrical current).
Currently, all four methods are approved for the slaughter of swine. None, however, are ideal and
all have advantages and disadvantages in pork quality effects which leaves it up for discussion of
which is the best system to use. According to the Humane Methods of Livestock Slaughter Act of
1978, no method of slaughtering or handling in connection with slaughtering shall be deemed to
comply with the public policy of the United States unless it is humane. Either of the following two
methods of slaughtering and handling are hereby found to be humane: (a) in the case of cattle,
calves, horses, mules, sheep, swine, and other livestock, all animals are rendered insensible to pain
by a single blow or gunshot or an electrical, chemical or other means that is rapid and effective,

The Role Of Production And Employment On Australia s Economy
Part A The roles of production and employment in Australia s economy is crucial as they are in an
interrelationship with all sectors and this is the basis of how money and resources are distributed
throughout a country. This is because employees help make the goods and services which we as
consumers use and then they get paid to do so but then the employees buy these goods and services
with the money which they earned. Not only do workers help one another via supplying each other
with money and resources but they also help the Government s budget by giving them their taxation
income. With this money, the Government can then use it to support the people of the nation by

In 2016, the retail market in Australia is currently in a downfall state with self service checkouts

1990s, it was a flourishing and rising employer due to the increases in the amount of shops being

sector is on the brink of being taken over by artificial intelligence (self driving vehicles) within
the next few years. Currently, there are already some cars on the road which are fully automated
such as Google s self driving car which can drive relatively safely as shown in the many test trials

Bullying is defined as the mistreatment of others, through the abuse of power. The various forms
bullying can take are, physical, verbal and mental abuse. The Short Story The Birthmark written in

The Capote Character Analysis
Although Capote appears to be providing information and accounts on the town after the
murders, his true purpose is to illuminate the corruption permeating Holcomb; thus asserting that
all places that are innocent and serene are not immune from wicked influence. Capote, as though
taking his own finger and running it down the reader s spine, creates an eerie and shiver
inducing air around Holcomb using juxtaposition. The Clutter s new appearances, posthumously
formed, are described: Nancy wore her dress of cherry red velvet, her brother a bright plaid shirt;
the parents were more sedately attired... and and it was this, especially, that lent the scene an
awful aura the head of each was completely encased in cotton, a swollen cocoon twice the size or
an ordinary blown up balloon, and the cotton, because it had been sprayed with a glossy
substance, twinkled like Christmas tree snow (Capote 95). A jarring and nauseous feeling
accompanies this excerpt, as the town s most revered inhabitants are degraded down to faceless
shells, inert, Q tip shaped reminders of loss and evil. The innocenceof Bonnie, the dependability of
Herb, and the intelligence of Nancy and Kenyon have been negatively replaced, and therefore the
true identities of the Clutters are forever lost. As the Clutters were the viewed as the most
upstanding citizens of Holcomb, the hurt felt by the remainder of the town is not just over the
family, but of the purity that Holcomb will never reattain. What was once the Clutter family, and
thus Holcomb itself, is forever gone, replaced by malicious, shimmering cotton.
Capote further presses the loss of innocence and gain of corruption through symbolism, witnessed
during the time in which men from the community set fire to the blood stained and destroyed
Clutter property. Unfolding in the line, [t]he couch, a relic that Kenyon had rescued and mended
and that Nancy had slip covered and piled with mottowed pillows, was a blood splashed ruin...it
would have to be burned.. [along with] blood soiled bedclothes, mattresses, a bedside rug, a Teddy
bear doll (Capote 78). These items, representing the larger whole of the Clutter property, symbolize
everything the Clutters were: the couch a stand in for work

All you need is bravery and determination. The theme from The Giver and the the theme from
Flowers for Algernon can have an impact on anyone s life but mostly teens. For kids and teens all
around the world, fitting in is one of the hardest things to do. People think that they need to
change themselves to fit in. Girls think they need to wear makeup to look pretty. Guys think
they need to be masculine. Everyone around the world is pressured by society to be someone
they re not. Lots of people say that society has killed the teenager . To me that quote means that
society gives us these certain images that we are supposed to strive for. For example, skinny,
tall, perfect teeth, no acne, etc. As teens we are at the age of wanting to fit in and be better but
society is ruining how we view ourselves and the ways we think. Also another thing is to just be
yourself. If you be yourself, the right people will come to you. For example, let s say someone
starts to wear makeup because her friends are wearing it, or someone said that she was ugly
without it. She ll start to become a person she doesn t want to be. She ll start to become
influenced by her friends and the people around her. Then she ll stop wearing it one day and
then she ll continue to stop wearing it for a while. She might get hatred, compliments on her
natural beauty, or her friends won t even care. See what she did? She stopped pretending to be a
character in a movie, and started being herself. All she needed was bravery and determination.
As you can see, the themes in Flowers For Algernon and in The Giver relate to the real life we are
facing today. If personally myself could say something to kids and teens, I would say to just be
yourself and don t change who you are. The right people will come to you if you are brave and

ones. For instance he is very hardworking. This is shown throughout the book especially during

Analysis Of The New 2015 Budweiser Lost Puppy
Budweiser Lost Puppy This is an analysis of the new 2015 Budweiser Lost Puppy commercial
ad. This ad was interesting, the speaker is obviously Budweiser; however, typical beer ads would
focus on American audiences over the age of 21. The commercial has no spoken language so it
can apply to any language and any country as long as the same kind of values demonstrated
visually are shared. The audienceis not as broad as beer drinkers; maybe it s a specific kind of beer
drinkers as well. Perhaps one who has affection for puppies? One who buys into the classic
American dream style image of sharing a cold brew with a buddy next to your dog and horse. If that
sounds nice to you, you re their target audience. Their purpose is obviously simple; sell more
beer. But the way they have all wrapped it up is interesting. It begins with a Caucasian male,
maybe an American in his 30 s, wearing a hat saying Budweiser. This scene says multiple things
about Budweiser, Budweiser is for hard workers, Budweiser is for cowboys, etc. Then in the next
scene a puppy suddenly emerges from a haystack, from that moment the audience becomes attached
to the puppy. It turns into an emotional commercial in that moment where the puppy pops out of

Advantages Of The Divine Command Theory
The Divine Command Theory is of the view that morality is somehow independent upon God, and
that the moral obligation consists of obedience to God s commands. The divine Command Theory
also includes the claims that morality is based on the commands or how God is, and that the right
thing to do is what Godcommands of one to do. The specific content of these divine commands
alternates according to the particular religionand the particular views of the individual divine

Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert
According to Jacques Ranciere, Emma s death was a verdict made by Gustave Flaubert because she
was unable to distinguish the practical mindedness and sentimentality of art, which was the lifestyle
she had chosen to live. Art means distinction to her, it means a certain lifestyle. Art has to permeate
all the aspects of existence (Ranciere 238 239). Emma had sought after the church and religion
throughout this novelin seeking spiritual enlightenment. However, the self integration of religious
art and literature in Emma s life had caused her to condone the benefits she could have received of
religion and of the church. With a mind that was practical in pursuit of its enthusiasms, that had
loved the church for its flowers, music for the words of its sentimental songs, and literature for its
power to stir the emotions, she rebelled against the mysteries of faith (Flaubert 36). Emma was
unable to discern that her sentimental view on religious arts substituted her spirituality; the
inability to separately define the two elements resulted in her downfall and death.
From the start of Emma s stay at the convent, she was wooed by the atmosphere of the church
which she found sentimental and thus began to walk the path to her own death. Instead of
following the mass, she would study...the pious illustrations with their sky blue borders, and she
loved the sick lamb, the Scared Heart pierced by sharp arrows, and poor Jesus, stumbling under the
burden of his cross (Flaubert 33).

Analysis Of William Mortimer J. Adler s Article Analysis
In Mortimer J. Adler s article How to Mark a Book, he argues that you should mark up your book
to note significant information. Adler argues, through rhetorical appeals and fallacies, that as you
write in a book it becomes absorbed in your bloodstream, and allows you to fully own the book. As
readers searching for these techniques we can become immune to the fallacies by recognizing them
and thereby acknowledging the argumentfor what it truly is. How to Mark A Book, uses an
abundance of logos in addition to other convincing techniques to persuade you, the reader, to mark
up your book. First, for any analysis of an argument, we must find who is claiming what (Lunsford,
Ruszkiewicz and Walter 94). In this article, that person is Mortimer Jerome Adler; an American
philosopher, educator and writer. His publisher, The Saturday Review of Literature, commonly
publish pieces similar to How to Mark a Book including: A.L Rowse: A Study in Versatility, The
A.L.A(American Library Association) Convention and Education of a Commentator.
Based on the title of the publisher and their various publications, we can assume that the broad
audience of the article are people with an interest in literature itself. However, due to the vast
amount of detail and description in the article, we can quite safely derive that the narrow audience
are people directly involved in education. While the article seems promising to high school and

successful without a collegeeducation. I mean Bill Gates, Will Smith, Abraham Lincoln, and
Henry Ford were all very successful. However, that was years ago and the age of college
dropouts are over. There is no denying that earning a degree will increase your chances at a better
life. Don t get me wrong, there are many hardships that you will experience through your college
journey. Many students are not prepared for college life. The emotional toll that... Show more

The financial hardships will push you to the edge. Everyone told me in high school that you will
receive so many scholarships and so I never would have thought that in my first year of college
that I would already be $5,500 in debt. The bad thing about FASFA too, is that they depend
solely on how much your parents make. Most of the time money that the parent makes doesn t
not end up in their child s college fund. The cost of college compared to how much young adults
can make is mind boggling. Students have to make the decision whether or not they want to
spend the majority of time working or going to school. A full time student earns about 15 credit
hours a semester and every teacher says that you have to spend 3 hours outside of class studying
and doing assignments. For the average full time student this means that 45 hours our spent on
school work. A typical full time employee works 40 hours. Together this is 84 hours and there
are only 168 hours in the week. Even part time employees struggle with balancing the two. 4 out
of 5 students work part time to try and keep their head above the water that is their growing debt.
However, a college degree is necessary if you want to be successful. The other option is to work
years and years in the same company trying to move up the ladder, but really there is no promise of
success. My dad has worked at GE for 35 years and this year they were bought out by Haer. Haer

Informative Essay On Windshields
The Drive shared, It wasn t until the late 1920s that safety glass, windshields, were introduced.
After the 1920s windshields quickly became a common safety feature in vehicles. Chris Loberg,
owner of Loberg s Auto Glass and Repair, is the man behind the profession of replacing and
installing windshields since 2003, it s 2016 now. While the safety and advertising in 2003 and
2016 are similar, there are also so many technology changes that made installing auto glasssafer and
making advertising a little more challenging. In 2003 Chris Loberg started Loberg s Auto Glass
and Repair and continues this profession now in 2016. He said, I chose to pursue auto glass
because I have worked on cars in some way my whole life. Auto glass was a new avenue that I
didn t learn about yet, I wanted to give it a try. When I moved back from out West I found a job

Tuberculosis Is A Disease That Affects Other Populations
Tuberculosis is a disease that affects many individuals throughout the world, and not always with
the same prevalence rates. For this research paper my goal is to explain and illustrate why certain
populations tend to have higher infection rates of tuberculosis than the average population in the
United States and what causes these higher rates. At what point do health officials step in and work
on prevention in these specific populations and why are we not implementing the tuberculosisshot
for these populations? The topic of Tuberculosis is significant as it affects many populations, but it
also does not affect all populations equally. Tuberculosis has an increased prevalence rate in
homeless individuals, African Americans, and in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are currently a variety of vaccinations that are being tested and/or used throughout the
world, although they are rarely used in the United States (Kupferschmidt, 2011). There are
several research centers across the nation that are taking part of the research and development of
these new vaccines including Harvard University and the University of California, Los Angeles
(Kupferschmidt, 2011). These vaccinations are of great importance to some individuals, but its
use is not perfect across all samples (Kupferschmidt, 2011). Tuberculosis was first discovered as
a disease in 1882 by a scientist named Robert Koch (Rothman, 1994). Within a short period of
time it was discovered that this was an infectious disease, along with being a disease that affected
certain populations (Rothman, 1994). It was discovered that a vast majority of the individuals
affected were either immigrant, therefore generally a minority population, or were of poor or
working class status (Rothman, 1994). Several movements and directives were used during this
time to attempt to stop the spread of tuberculosis, such as, being outside in the clean air as much
as possible, not drinking alcohol, and drinking plenty of clean water, among others (Rothman,
1994). Between 1906 and 1919 a vaccine was developed by Albert Calmette and Camille Geurin, a
pair of French scientists, to help prevent this terrible disease (Kupferschmidt, 2011). This BCG

How To Write An Essay On The Battle Of Gettysburg Battle
From the time that English settlers first colonized North America with the first permanent
settlement in the early 17th century, people have been willing to give up their lives to fight for
what they believe in. The colonial wars, American Revolution, and War of 1812 were all early
wars fought by people who believed in the right to freedom and a better life. This belief continued
into the mid 19th century when the newly independent United States broke into Civil War which
became the beginning fight for equality amongst all American men. The Union and Confederate
armies clashed for over four years for what is now known as the bloodiest war in American history.
Often times, battles are fought and lives are lost even though the outcome never... Show more

This is due to not only its importance in the outcome of the Civil War, but also from the
leadership displayed during the battle. The battle was led by two of the most recognizable generals
during this era. It was fought between General Robert E. Lee and his Confederate Army of Northern
Virginia and General George G. Meade and the Federal Army of the Potomac. Both generals already
exhibited outstanding leadership during the previous two years of the war. It, however, was the
difference in leadership during this one particular battle that helped shape the outcome the battle
and the war altogether.
Before the Gettysburg campaign even started, it can be noted that Lee made some poor decisions
about preparing for the march into northern territory. One unique perspective on how General E.
Lee s inadequate leadership during Gettysburg lost the Confederate army the battle deals with his
haphazard preparations from the maps he was provided with. Jedidiah Hotchkiss was the staff
topographical engineer for the Confederate army. Before Stonewall Jackson s death, he asked
Hotchkiss to prepare a theater map of the northern territory including northern Virginia, Maryland,
and south central Pennsylvania. After

Michael Moore Capitalism Synopsis
Michael Moore is the writer and director of the highly relevant documentary film, Capitalism: A
Love Story. To me, the most interesting chapter of the film is Dead Peasants. Moore talked
about capitalism is a system of giving and taking, mostly taking . In my opinion, it sounds true
for me. Moore illustrated Irma Johnson s husband Dan ironic case. Who recently died of cancer,
leaving behind Irma and their two sons. They filmed the woman cried and sadly talked about
her husband. Her husband worked in middle management at Amegy Bank in Houston, Texas.
Amegy had taken out a secret life insurance policy on Dan s life. The bank generously named
itself as the beneficiary in the event of Dan s death. Dan s death made them $1.5 million richer
by the insurance company accidentally informed Irma that Amegy Bank had received a check for
$1.5 million just weeks after Dan died. Irma Johnson cried in pain that she didn t know anything
and they never told her. Why the company try to profit from employee s death?. How are these
companies able to get away with this?. Moore might be answer those kinds of question in sarcastic
way : I guess that s the point of capitalism. It allows you to get away with anything, like making a
profit off the death of an employee.
These kind of corporate insurance policies on employees, with the normal use of life insurance, ...

richest corporations in the world an extra $81,000 and Walmart didn t offer a penny to help to
cover her medical bills and funeral which over $100,000. We call that case as Dead Peasant

China s Largest Population On Earth
Introduction China is home to the largest population on Earth and they have experienced dramatic
growth during their recent history. China s GDP in 1952 was a mere 67.9 billion USD which has
grown to 10.87 trillion USD today. This GDP growth is mirrored and positively correlated with
China s tremendous population growth. Chinahas experienced a population growth from under 552
million in 1950 to nearly 1.4 billion today. This tremendous growth has brought about an
increased dependence on the advanced production of food in China. In order to feed this growing
population farmers have been forced to effectively grow their crops and increase their cultivation

In October of 2005 the preserved remains of ancient noodles were discovered at the Lajia
archaeological site which sits on the second terrace of the Yellow River near Qinghai. These
noodles where a revolutionary find allowing anthropologists to further research ancient Chinese
food. The noodles were made from foxtail and broom corn millet and were preserved for
thousands of years in the rock. From these findings it is clear that grain based noodles have been
a staple part of the Chinese diet for thousands of years. During the time frame from around 2070
BC to 221 BC five chief grains made up the staple diet of the Chinese. This time period included
the Xia, Shang, Zhou dynasties and the Warring States Period is commonly referred to as the
period of five grains. Anthropologists and historians have found and studied many different
records that argue over which grains were in fact a part of the five grains. According the Classic
of Rites which was comprised by Confucius and his followers during the 6th century the five
staple grains included soybeans, rice, proso millet, foxtail millet, and wheat. Scholars argue over
the which grains were a part of the traditional five. Another version of the Classic of Rights
replaces rice with hemp. Before the rise of Confucius there was no prior record of the way that the
Chinese cooked their food. Confucius through his teaching and wisdom laid the groundwork and
developed the norms

Gandhi Vs Mao
Through the twentieth Century, multiple leaders rose up to change society to what they believed
was better; two of these people were Mahatma Gandhi and Mao Zedong. They both changed their
countries socially, politically, and economically. Gandhi was a nonviolent leader of a revolution
against Great Britain s ownership of India, while Chairman Mao was a dictator and founder of the
People s Republic of China. Gandhi and Mao appear utterly opposite at first glance. However,
there are similarities that are uncovered as we investigate their beginnings, intentions, and
dedication to what they believed in. Mohandas Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India on October
2nd, 1869. His family was rich enough to send him to a law school in London. After his education,
he returned to India to start a law practice. That law... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, they both had the same passion to change their respective countries. Mahatma Gandhi and
Mao Zedong led revolutions against their governments. These two leaders organized millions to
fight for their cause. Next, both leaders sympathized with the poor and wanted their society to
help those in need. For example, Gandhi encouraged the poor to stand up to the British rule of
India, and Mao killed off the wealthy and intelligent to help the poor and uneducated. Chairman
Mao and Gandhi held to socialist views and wanted to get rid of all social classes. Also, they
advocated equality for women, which was uncommon in their time. Lastly, they both broke laws
and risked their lives to create change in their country. This can be seen in how Gandhi was
known for peacefully refusing to follow laws that discriminated against Indians, and Mao led an
entire army against the Chinese government. They both chose to fight for what they believed in
rather than move away to a safer place or be content with the unfair laws that had been set in place

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Transfersomes
The name is derived from the Latin word transferre which means to carry across and the Greek
word soma means body means carrying body . Transfersomes, a novel class of modified liposomes,
was first reported by Cevc [Cevc et al; 1992] and are described as deformable, elastic or ultra
flexible liposomes or vesicles [Benson; 2006]. They are claimed to improve in vitro transdermal
delivery of a variety of drugs. The deformability possessed by transfersomes is the outcome of
incorporation of an edge activator within the phospholipid bilayers and this improves elasticity by
means of lipid bilayerdestabilization [Dubey et al; 2007]. Commonly used edge activators are single
chain surfactants such as sodium cholate and Tween 80. It is well known that barrier of stratum
corneum prevent hydrophilic and large molecular drugs through skin but transfersomes are able to
squeeze through conduits one tenth the diameter of the vesicles, allowing them to spontaneous
penetrate the stratum corneum [Cevc et al; 1996] Moreover, Cevc et... Show more content on

is the development of the friendship between, Dith Pran and Sydney Shanberg. Another key idea,

improve the environment, society can take part into recycling, but will also lead to a problem
because we all would take away workers who work in the landfills. Meaning if this potential
problem happens the catadores will be unemployed with no job and no money to live from. It
can be problematic because if everyone recycles, this low class of people who are not as wealthy
will have them in bleak conditions more than they already were. By having a lot of waste material
in a landfill, the pickers will continue to have a job, even though they receive insufficient pay, they
still make a living off of it by providing shelter for themselves and their families. They gather
materials that are useful and help maintain the environment. At the end, the environmentalism did
present a solution to the pickers, it was an inspiration Suelem states this work bought my

  • 2. The Story Of The Darko Farms In Africa In africa there is a say When an elder dies, it is as if an entire library has burned to the ground. this makes me understand that we can link our living to the past; therefore, we need to tell your grandchildren the story of the struggles waged, at home and abroad and of the sacrifices made for freedom s sake. And tell them our own story of life as well because everyone has a story to tell. A few short happenings of things I remember of being told of the Darko farms which was one of the biggest farms in Ghana and it s currently doing well in the agriculture. This farming project was initiated by great grandparentduring the 1960, and this became one of the biggest familyjob for my family. however, out of the struggle and success the family was established and it grew large. my great parent were married in back in the 1915 with 5 children were born at in the Ashanti region in Ghana and three children at Cleland. One of these children were my grandfather Albert adu boahen, Boahen was my grandfather s mother s name, five children were born at the northern part of the country during that time it was called the Gold coast. • 3. The Human Body And All The Organ System The human body is in a constant state of movement even when seemingly still. This constant movement is crucial for the human body and all the organ systems it contains. Movement although overlooked is more complicate than many would believe. The human body has many functions which are maintained by the movement of muscles and blood, as well as other bi products of the organ systems. The Integumentary, Cardiovascular, and Tissue systems are capable of movement both internal and external allowing for the continuous cycle that keeps the human body functioning. The most important system that relies on movement is the Cardiovascular system. The Cardiovascular system is mainly composed of the heart, blood vessels, and about 5.5 liters of blood. ()The system itself is constantly moving, internally and externally.() The heart itself is a muscular pumping organ that helps with the transport of oxygen and waste via the blood system. () Specifically the pulmonary circulation, composed of the right atrium and ventricle, is primarily used to transport deoxygenated blood from the right side of the heart to the lungs in which the blood is filled with oxygen, returning to the heart and then transported by the systemic circulation, composed of the left atrium and ventricle, which carries the blood to the rest of the body. ()The systemic circulation also carries waste away from the tissue and carries deoxygenated blood back to the heart.() Blood vessels are also a part of this process because ... • 4. Taking a Look at Water Chlorination 4.0 Water Chlorination 4.1 What is water chlorination? Water chlorination is another process that is commonly used in the water treatment industry. Chlorination can be defined as the addition of chlorine or hypochlorite to a water supply for disinfection purposes. Pathogens present in drinking water can cause serious diseases upon consumption and therefore need to be treated (Safe Drinking Water Foundation, 2009). Chlorination is one of the various methods that is used to deactivate these pathogens and can be found in operation at many municipal works across the country, including Killylane water treatment works. It is often found as one of the final stages in a multiple stage treatment process, usually following a filtration process. Pathogens come in a variety of forms, such as viruses, bacteria or protozoa, and can have devastating, even fatal consequences if not treated in a water supply. Before the mainstream introduction of disinfection into the water treatment process, waterborne pathogens regularly caused epidemics, and diseases like typhoid, cholera and dysentery were rife (Scientific American, 1998). As has been mentioned in the previous chapter, the rapid gravity filtration process is relatively ineffective at removing these pathogens from the water and therefore disinfection is required as a follow up treatment. Adding chlorine to water can inhibit a large range of microbial waterborne pathogens, either killing them or decreasing their activity to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Comparing The Works Of Paul Laurence Dunbar And Maya... In the words of Former Attorney General of the United States, Loretta Lynch, This country was founded on a promise of equal rights for all, and we have always managed to move closer to that promise, little by little, one day at a time. It may not be easy but we ll get there together. Rosa Parks fought for herself and other people of color to gain equal rights, which not only impacted her generation, but also future societies. Throughout Rosa s journey, she mirrors the image of the caged bird written in Paul Laurence Dunbar and Maya Angelou s poems, due to the events that changed her and released her from her cage. Even though the path for equal rights was not always easy, Rosa Parksand the oppressed men and women led the revolution that broke them free from segregation laws. Before Rosa Parks and other colored civilians in the United States during the 1900 s broke free from their cages, they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Segregation laws impacted the everyday lives of people of color, from stores, to transportation. As stated in Rosa Parks My Story, Then he spoke a second time: y all better make it light on yourselves and let me have those seats (3). Buses were one of the more controversial issues during this period, so people of color were often told to move for white males. African Americans, similar to the birds in Dunbar and Angelous poems felt trapped. Rosa and many others feared being tormented, so most complied with the segregation laws that were in place. Also mentioned in My Story, written by Rosa Parks, ...my grandfather would have his gun right by the fireplace, or if he had his one horse wagon going anywhere, he always had his gun in the back of the wagon (5). • 6. Arab Spring American Revolution The Arab Spring is generally defined as the series of anti government protests, uprisings and armed rebellions that spread across the Middle East in early 2011. Almost all of the major countries in the Middle East such as Syria, Jordan, and Morocco were all involved in these protests. Each country had unique demands that led to major uprising throughout the Middle East. Through a major exploration and study, it is clear the Arab Spring had key reasons for failing and succeeding which has led to modern day conflicts. Syria is the clearest proof that the Arab Spring failed. The main reforms Syrian protesters desired was freedom from the Assad regime, allowance of political parties, equal rights for Kurds, and the freedom of speech press and authority. Not only did the protesting against Bashar Al Assad fail, but it lead to an ongoing civil war that has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... King Mohammed VI led an absolute monarchy in the country and many Moroccans fought for octal and economic reform, which is exactly what they got. As a result of these complaints, Abdullah allowed for a re election for parliament as well as considering the possibility for Jordan to be a democratic state. Clearly the Arab Spring can still be argued as a success do to the peaceful and satisfying results of protests in countries like Morocco and Jordan. The Arab Spring is faced with many different initial goals and resulting outcomes. • 7. Analysis Of The Article Why Parents Need To Let Their... In the article Why Parents Need to Let Their Children Fail Lahey illustrates overprotective parents (helicopter parenting). Lahey shows a perfect example at the beginning of the article where a mother wrote her child s essay and plagiarized it; she gave excuses like my kid has a lot of work or I don t want her to be overstressed. This type of parentingmakes teachers jobs more difficult because the student is not learning the material if their parents are doing their homework. Overall Lahey argues that overparenting is damaging towards a child s growth; I agree that this is destructive to a kid, because if they do not learn how to fail when they are younger than they have a sense of entitlement in the future. Lahey is correct about how children will be stuck in a state of helplessness , which I see every day. Every day at work I witness how children are not able to answer a simple yes or no question without their parent there to guide them. This has caused them to believe they are incapable of being in control of their own lives in a way. Many parents come in asking me if their child did their homework instead of asking the child and holding them accountable for doing it or not. I have witnessed children that know all the answers to a math worksheet but go to their parents for the answers instead of even trying. Children who grow up unprepared for the world are unable to deal with the emotional hardships of not having their parents to lean on every step they are unable to cope with not getting their way. Similarly, Lahey explains how parents who raise their children in a state of helplessness and powerlessness, children destined to an anxious adulthood, lacking the emotional resources they will need to cope with inevitable setback and failure. (Lahey 3) If a child is unable to master what I call thick skin when they are young then in the future every little thing will hurt their feelings. Thick skin is made when your parents give you chores and hold you responsible if they are not done. Future adults that had helicopter parents will be unable to put up the dishes without needing reassurance that they are doing it correctly. These parents are ultimately giving their children a false sense of protection for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Merlin is also a protective person. In the movie, the adulterous lover of Lancelot was being burned at the stake for treason. Mordred, Merlin s son, told Merlin to burn her at the stake, but, seeing how burning her was unfair, he used his powers to make rain, putting out the fire, and saving the princess in the last second. Lunar rocks and soil contain gases (hydrogen, helium, nitrogen, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon) derived from the solar wind with isotope ratios different than Earth forms of the same gases. The ability to imitate, or reconstruct, a fake lunar rock is ludicrous. Lunar rock samples are simply composed of too many foreign materials for any scientist to recreate, even for the government. Moreover, the lunar rocks have been inspected internationally by a myriad of scientists. As any scientist who observed the rock, they will say the lunar rock has a more consistent composure of iron oxide (FeO) to manganese oxide (MnO). Rocks from earth may appear similar, but the composition of Earth rock is far more inconsistent than any lunar rock. • 12. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Biometrics There are many biometric techniques in existence today. Face recognition technology is one of them which make use of computer software to determine the identity of the person. Today conservative methods of identification like possession of certain type of identity cards, use of passwords etc. are not at all reliable for identity purposes where security is a critical factor. There is no surety in the fact that person using ATM card to withdraw money from any ATM machine is actual owner of the card. When credit and ATM cards are lost or stolen, it is not a big game for the unauthorized user to make an accurate guess of the correct personal codes. It is a common practice between we people that despite of strict warning we continue to choose easily guessed PIN s and passwords. Often we prefer our birthdays, cell numbers, house numbers and vehicle numbers. Identity cards can be lost, fake or misplaced and passwords can be forgotten or compromised. • 14. Endocrine vs. Nervous System Endocrine Vs Nervous System The endocrine system acts with nervous system to coordinate the body s activities. Both systems enable cells to communicate with others by using chemical messengers. The endocrine system uses chemical messengers called hormones that are transported by the circulatory system (blood). They act on target cells that may be anywhere in the body. The endocrine system is slower than the nervous system because hormones must travel through the circulatory system to reach their target. Target cells have receptors that are specific to the signaling molecules. The binding of hormones to the receptors on or within the target cell produces a response by the target cell. Control of the Anterior Pituitary The hypothalamus produces hormones that travel in blood vessels to the anterior pituitary, stimulating it to produce other hormones. The hormones produced by the hypothalamus are called hypothalamic releasing hormones. The anterior pituitary produces at least six different hormones. Each one is produced in response to a specific hypothalamic releasing hormone. The blood vessel that carries hypothalamic releasing hormones from the hypothalamus to the pituitary is called a portal vein because it connects two capillary beds. One capillary bed is in the hypothalamus and the other is in the anterior pituitary. Release inhibiting hormones produced by the hypothalamus inhibit the pituitary from secreting its hormones. Example The pituitary is stimulated to release growth hormone (GH) by growth hromone releasing hormone (GHRH) produced in the hypothalamus. It is inhibited from releasing growth hormone by growth hormone release inhibiting hormone(GHRIH), also produced by the hypothalamus. A lighter, a few bottle caps, and other plastic objects was consumed by the bird and caused its death. The Years, And Midnight Cowboy Won Best Screenplay Midnight Cowboy, Network, and American Beauty have one thing in common, and it s not that they were all Best Picture films; only Midnight Cowboy and American Beauty were. What these three films have in common, is their ability to stand out in the Best Screenplay race at the Academy Awards. American Beauty and Network both won Best Original Screenplay in their years, and Midnight Cowboy won Best Adapted Screenplay. These films are still widely talked about, not only because they won these awards, but because their screenplays are strong enough to stand on their own. Each of these screenplays were able to introduce their audiences to unique characters, taboo themes, and stories that crossed the boundaries of their time. In my opinion, what makes a filmspecial is the screenplay, and even more than that, what makes a screenplay is its ability to have a second agenda while telling an intriguing a story. In other words, if a screenplay can do something more than just stand for entertainment value if it has a message that makes its audience think or opens their eyes to a lifestyle or idea unbeknownst to them, or at the very least, teaches them something without being preachy it has the makings of a good screenplay. Top down strategies have been productively used here in the United States, even before the Bhopal disaster, and are still utilized today. It is because of disasters like Bhopal that we have been able to reanalyze and improve upon age old strategies and make them more productive. Today, top down management is primarily used during major change in a corporation s mission, or structure (Hicks, 2013). Researchers of the Bhopal disaster have voiced their theories on this matter, and have said that middle management was partly responsible because of their inability, or laziness to enforce regulatory safety and maintenance protocols established by the Indian government, and UCC (Mac Sheoin Pearce, 2015). • 31. The Capote Character Analysis Although Capote appears to be providing information and accounts on the town after the murders, his true purpose is to illuminate the corruption permeating Holcomb; thus asserting that all places that are innocent and serene are not immune from wicked influence. Capote, as though taking his own finger and running it down the reader s spine, creates an eerie and shiver inducing air around Holcomb using juxtaposition. The Clutter s new appearances, posthumously formed, are described: Nancy wore her dress of cherry red velvet, her brother a bright plaid shirt; the parents were more sedately attired... and and it was this, especially, that lent the scene an awful aura the head of each was completely encased in cotton, a swollen cocoon twice the size or an ordinary blown up balloon, and the cotton, because it had been sprayed with a glossy substance, twinkled like Christmas tree snow (Capote 95). A jarring and nauseous feeling accompanies this excerpt, as the town s most revered inhabitants are degraded down to faceless shells, inert, Q tip shaped reminders of loss and evil. The innocenceof Bonnie, the dependability of Herb, and the intelligence of Nancy and Kenyon have been negatively replaced, and therefore the true identities of the Clutters are forever lost. As the Clutters were the viewed as the most upstanding citizens of Holcomb, the hurt felt by the remainder of the town is not just over the family, but of the purity that Holcomb will never reattain. What was once the Clutter family, and thus Holcomb itself, is forever gone, replaced by malicious, shimmering cotton. Capote further presses the loss of innocence and gain of corruption through symbolism, witnessed during the time in which men from the community set fire to the blood stained and destroyed Clutter property. Unfolding in the line, [t]he couch, a relic that Kenyon had rescued and mended and that Nancy had slip covered and piled with mottowed pillows, was a blood splashed ruin...it would have to be burned.. • 35. Analysis Of The New 2015 Budweiser Lost Puppy Budweiser Lost Puppy This is an analysis of the new 2015 Budweiser Lost Puppy commercial ad. This ad was interesting, the speaker is obviously Budweiser; however, typical beer ads would focus on American audiences over the age of 21. The commercial has no spoken language so it can apply to any language and any country as long as the same kind of values demonstrated visually are shared. The audienceis not as broad as beer drinkers; maybe it s a specific kind of beer drinkers as well. Perhaps one who has affection for puppies? One who buys into the classic American dream style image of sharing a cold brew with a buddy next to your dog and horse. If that sounds nice to you, you re their target audience. Their purpose is obviously simple; sell more beer. But the way they have all wrapped it up is interesting. It begins with a Caucasian male, maybe an American in his 30 s, wearing a hat saying Budweiser. This scene says multiple things about Budweiser, Budweiser is for hard workers, Budweiser is for cowboys, etc. Then in the next scene a puppy suddenly emerges from a haystack, from that moment the audience becomes attached to the puppy. It turns into an emotional commercial in that moment where the puppy pops out of the haystack. • 37. Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert According to Jacques Ranciere, Emma s death was a verdict made by Gustave Flaubert because she was unable to distinguish the practical mindedness and sentimentality of art, which was the lifestyle she had chosen to live. Art means distinction to her, it means a certain lifestyle. Art has to permeate all the aspects of existence (Ranciere 238 239). Emma had sought after the church and religion throughout this novelin seeking spiritual enlightenment. However, the self integration of religious art and literature in Emma s life had caused her to condone the benefits she could have received of religion and of the church. With a mind that was practical in pursuit of its enthusiasms, that had loved the church for its flowers, music for the words of its sentimental songs, and literature for its power to stir the emotions, she rebelled against the mysteries of faith (Flaubert 36). Emma was unable to discern that her sentimental view on religious arts substituted her spirituality; the inability to separately define the two elements resulted in her downfall and death. From the start of Emma s stay at the convent, she was wooed by the atmosphere of the church which she found sentimental and thus began to walk the path to her own death.
