Battle Of Trenton Quote Analysis
Giant waves crash around you, threatening to overturn your boat. The frigid air nips at your
exposed skin. Shouts from army members fill your ears, barking out orders. But you won t listen
to those orders. The only orders you will listen to and act on come from the leader of this army
because without him, this whole plan would not even have the slightest chance of working. The
year was 1776. Christmas Eve. The crossing of the Delaware to the Battle of Trenton was taking
place. The Continental Armywould not have been able to win this battle had it not been for George
Washington, the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. His effective leadership has been so
crucial to the creation of this country and without it, we would probably be somewhere... Show

Washington wasn t always such a great leader. During the French and Indian War, Washington made
a lot of mistakes such as his horrible embarrassment in result of the assassination of French
Diplomat Jumonville. When the musket smoke cleared, Ensign Joseph Coulon de Jumonville lay
wounded, trying to explain to Washington that he was on a diplomatic mission. Before surrender
was declared, Tanaghrisson struck the ambassador dead with a tomahawk to the head. Anticipating
French retaliation, the young Virginian withdrew a few miles to a large meadow, where he hastily
built a small, crude stockade and named it Fort Necessity. Here, Washington suffered his first and
most humiliating defeat by French reinforcements on July 3, 1754. Washington signed the
surrender document, which was written in French, and unknowingly accepted responsibility for the
ambassador s death. The French published the document in major European capitals. (Clash of
Empires) (Q. Should I explain more about the quote before I go into the Battle of Trenton?) Even
though Washington started out as not a very good leader, the Battle of Trenton during the American
Revolution shows how Washington was able to learn from the Battle of Great Meadows and use
his former mistakes to be victorious. This helped him to become a much better leader.

Summer Camp Research Paper
We need to return them better than they were given to us . It was drilled into our heads from
day one of training, until the Friday of the final week. This was not a statement concerning a
materialistic item, but something of infinitely greater value: the lives of children. You would
not expect such a heavy responsibility from your employment at a summer camp. Everyday, we
embarked on adventures that changed their perspectives on the world around them, just as the
summer sunshine was changing the tone of their skin. It was hard to believe how much the kids
had developed over the course of the summer, and it was even harder to comprehend how my
interaction with their childhoods fostered such a departure from mine. Preparing for this job
was not easy: a twenty hour training period was to be completed weeks before the beginning of
camp. Delivered to us trainees from the voices of first hand witnesses, we were exposed to the
horrors of child abuse and the gravity of our roles in preventing it. Child abuse did not happen
mostly in dark alley ways, but in places that are filled with kids and nearby witnesses, which fit the
description of the YMCA summer camps perfectly. Long... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyday, when I saw familiar faces or greeted new little ones into my group, I was determined
to protect those children, and give them the summer camp experience they so deserved;
unfortunately, balancing the two was about as easy as taming a cat. Fun for the kids was
running off to places that were too far from my sight, too close to danger. Time and time again, I
found myself reeling them in and keeping them stationed in place, away from the opportunities to
explore and enjoy the campground. My full control of the situation became a necessity, but this
was not the way that the kids would grow. There would always be the shadow of danger when in
charge of a large group of children, but it was up to me to be brave enough to let freedom run, even
if it was out of my comfort

The Reality Of The Beholder From The Ancient Dialogues...
What is Reality? I plan on discussing each section of this essay; however, they do coincide with
each other in the topic. I will try to explain my reasoning on how they would question relates to
one another. First, what is the difference between appearance and reality? What is the reality of
being in a new place, instead of being in a society of other people around you? Does one person
think they can another s perceptionof their world? Does everything lead to good, and what is good
in the eye of the beholder from the ancient dialogues from Plato and Socrates? Lets starts from the
beginning, by distinguishing the difference between reality and appearances. Is it something that is
done by everyone on a daily basis? Whether it is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another way of thinking of reality and appearance is the theory of idealism. Idealism is only
things that really exist are our minds and their ideas. An Irish Bishop named George Berkeley view
of idealism is ...though it were possible that solid, figured, moveable substances may exist without
the mind... yet how [could we] know this? Either we must know it by sense or by reason.
(Rachels Rachels, 2012, p. 128). Berkeley also goes to mention that our senses comes our
knowledge of sensations and ideas that come from the mind, and our reason is for us to believe in
the existence of physical objects that is a necessary connection between the physical world and
our ideas. Another approach is direct versus indirect realism, which deals with the perception of
our reality or mental state. Direct idealism deals with common sense and with the facts of
things; however, indirect idealism is the opposite of which it holds the idea of perception of
something with our idea of an object that we are aware of. Now, how is reflecting with Plato s
story of the Allegory of the Cave, and reality and appearance the same? In the story of the
Allegory of the Cave, goes with the following understanding of the Cave. The cave is a world
where prisoners live chained to the ground, and the captors cast shadows on the wall and these
shadows construct reality for the prisoners. One of the prisoners is freed by the

Overview
The City of Charlottetown is a flourishing community of over 34,562 people located on the south
shore of Prince Edward Island. Charlottetown is the capital city of Prince Edward Island, and is
called the Birthplace of Confederation after the historic 1864 Charlottetown Conference which led
to Confederation (Wikipedia, 2016).
Culture
The core culture of Charlottetown is embodies the idea of crafting. This covers many of the aspects

The wording is unique, and not normally used in modern day english which will make people
stop and think about it for a second and make them wonder as to what the campaign means. This
is optimal, because if it gets a person to stop, that not means they are interested, but that they are
also taking the time to read the material provided. In the same sense, it will also create desire, as
the slogan is short enough to stay in a person s head, and simple location reminders will help to
spark desire. For example, after seeing the slogan, if the person sees a sign for Prince Edward
Island, farms, red sand, etc they will think of the slogan, creating a form situational desire. This will
then lead to sparking an interest in planning a vacation to Charlottetown and with enough push,
may create the actual action of booking a trip to visit Charlottetown.

Journaling Is A Common Practice
An old adage says that thoughts disentangle themselves when passed through the lips and across
the fingertips (Whitney 260). Thoughts clutter up our minds and need a release; for some, this is
journaling. Journaling can be defined as a practice in which one writes out a variety of things. It
isn t confined to one specific thing. It can range from daily events and struggles, to poetry, to Bible
verses. They hold a purpose in some time and place, though some may prefer one over another.
Journaling has been noted throughout the ages as being beneficial in many lives and providing a
source of hope for many, even in the most difficult times, though some others may find it harmful.
Journaling does not necessarily have a specific... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us (ESV, Ps.
62.6 8). The Psalms were like David s personal journal. It documents his feelings, mainly towards
God, and gives a commentary of the thoughts running through his mind. It clearly shows David
questioning God and going through rough patches, but it also shows moments of great delight and
times of significant triumph in his life.
Not only do Biblical figures highlight the use of journaling, but many other notable people and
people groups note journaling as a common practice in their lives. Saint Augustine, one of the
most revered figures in the church for the way he shaped the way we view Christianity today,
was even known to have kept a journal in the form of one of his most famous books, Confessions
(Whitney 251). For 68 years Queen Victoria was known to have kept a daily journal (Conhaim).
Also, the Puritans, the group of people the set out to reform the English church, kept journals
themselves. They were considered highly religious and Donald Whitney notes this by saying, The
fact that many Puritans kept diaries of this kind helps to explain their pursuit of social virtue:
diaries were the reckoning books in which they checked the assets and liabilities of their souls in
faith. When they opened these books, they set down lapses of morality with appropriate
expressions of faith (qtd. in Whitney 253 254). All of these people kept a journal

My Experience At The Coast Guard
One of my first experiences in the Coast Guard was a question that went out to the whole
company, Why do you want to be in the Coast Guard? Naturally my response was that I wanted to
help people. Little did I know at the time, that as I progressed through my career, so too would the
focus of my desire to help shift to the people placed under my charge. Starting out I didn t place
much thought into leadership. Luckily, I have had the privilege to serve with several people that
have demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout my career. Jeff Dorwart, John Lorentz,
Marvin Wells, etc., the list goes on. All of whom have imparted some of their leadership wisdom
upon me, either through demonstration or conversation. Leadership to me is the ability to influence
others in the pursuit of a shared vision or goal, regardless of whether it is yours or one you yourself
have been influenced to follow.
2.For some of my leadership mentors, they modeled the way by their actions and personal
interactions. Marvin Wells always maintained an outstanding uniform. He usually had a smile on
his face and presented himself as a very approachable individual. In fact, even when I was getting
corrected , it didn t feel like an ass chewing, rather a course correction that I ended up being harder
on myself than what he was. Jeff Dorwart and John Lorentz were both big picture thinkers. They
would shamelessly share the big picture, direction and desired end result with all. This created buy

Chilean music consists of folk music, Tonada, and Cueca. Chilean folk music is like regular folk
music but with a twist such as some traditional Chilean instruments. Tonada is a type of genre of
music that was brought by the Spaniards. Unlike the Cueca, the Tonada is different because it is a
type of music that is not accompanied by dance. Finally the Cueca, the national dance of Chile is
rooted in Spanish, African, Peruvian, and the indigenous Chilean origins. In total, most of all the
Chilean music genres and dances are rooted from many of the same cultures especially the Spanish.
Chilean cuisine is a product of commingling of the native Indian tradition with Spanish colonial
contribution, combining their customs, foods, and culinary habits. When Chile declared
independence from Spain in 1810, other European immigrants began to make their mark on the
cuisine as well. This mix of native and European influences is now known as Chilean Creole
Cuisine (La Fuji Mama). An example of a Chilean Creole Cuisine is the pastel de

Book Report On The Movie Valentine
THEY rolled. Valentine watched the SUV flip twice, slamming into a shipping container and
careening off into a brutal spin on its roof. He laughed, high and harsh. Then he limped after
them, following the trail of broken glass and splinters of plastic and metal. Valentine led with
the pistol he d taken from one of the sailors, gripped in both hands. He ignored the pain in his
right palm where he d sliced it open as the cheap steak knife had broken off in the sailor s neck.
He d had worse. Finish the job. The SUV had stopped moving now, oily smoke rising into the
night like winter fog. A figure struggled out on the far side, the door screaming as it popped
open. Valentine snapped off a quick shot, but it went wide. The figure stumbled away, towards
the cover of a hulking mass of shipping containers. Even in the shadows, Valentine saw that they
were big. Moving faster than he expected. Hirsch. Valentine went into a crouch, skirting around
the edge of the SUV wreck. His ankle burned dully where he d jumped from the trawler. His palm
was slick with blood. The burned tattoos along his back and arms itched and stung. But Hirsch he
wasn t worried about. Hirsch wasn t the problem. Gunfire crackled in the darkness. Valentine
flinched, but the fusillade was nowhere near him. Someone guessing. Laying down blind cover

picked his way carefully, the pistol held steady.

Donald Trump Racism
If you had told me in 2002 that 15 years later Donald Trump would be president, Kid Rock would
be running for Senate, and Eminem would be a celebrity spokesperson for human/civil rights, I
would have laughed you out of the room. This sounds more like content for an SNL skit than
reality. But, here we are; Truth really is stranger than fiction.
A few days ago, new political activist and rapper Eminem, let out some rage towards Donald Trump
in a 4.5 minute freestyle rap called The Storm on the BET Hip Hop Awards. If you are familiar
with Eminem, it shouldn t surprise you that there is fair amount of vulgarity and graphic imagery
in the video. So, proceed with caution to the link above. While he covers quite of bit of ground in
his video, for the sake of this article I want to focus on just one topic: racism. Despite wild
popularity and support from fans and trump haters, I think this video does more harm than good
towards resolving the problems of racism in our country.
In some of the most scathing lines, Eminem blasts President Trump as a racist 94 year old
grandpa and draws a line in the sand. In almost battle like terms, he demands his fans to decide
who you like more Eminem or President Trump. He even addresses the undecided, if you can t
decide who you like more and you re split on who you should stand beside, I ll do it for it for you
with this. He then makes an obscene gesture towards the camera.
This was unfair to Trump, his supports, and even Eminem s

The Yellow Ribbon By Pete Hamill
Memories can last a life time, so we tend to only remember the extraordinary ones. Extraordinary
like the essay The Yellow Ribbon by Pete Hamill, in which he talks about how a person named
Vingo, was riding on a, bus recently released from jail, to this oak tree explaining to some
passengers that he had told his wife to leave him if she wanted, since he went to jail or to go to
this oak tree and tie a yellow ribbon around it to see if she wants him to stick around and he will
go and check it out. In the end, he saw hundreds of ribbons tied on to the tree. Not only is this an
amazing story, but also very unforgettable one as well, because he finds out that after four years in
jail his wife has enough lovefor him to go to this tree and tie hundreds of ribbons just to show the
type of love the women had for Vingo. I have to say that, I believe this story is truly
unforgettable, but I also got a story that is very extraordinary, like the time that I got my very
first car. Furthermore, I didn t just get a car, I got the love of two truly loving parents. Much like
Mr. Hamill and his story about love I too have a love story that involves not my wife, but my
parents. When I got to the age of driving, and around the time to go to college I wasn t expecting
any type of car of any sort because I knew that my family just had enough money to get me into
college. However, one week after I took my driver s test and passed I was welcomed with a brand

Identification of Major Problems/Issues
1) PROBLEM: There is no separate and formal human resource department. Each department
within the company is independently responsible for hiring and training newcomers. This is a
major problem because it is very probable that unqualified new employees with no experience and
the skill necessary to do the job are being hired. Also, the company needs a separate department
which specializes in finding and training employees. SOLUTION: The company could outsource
the department by finding and teaming up with another corporation/company which will
concentrate on all the aspects of HR. Or, the company could simply create a new HR department
by hiring a skilled manager, so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But as the company grows, they will have to let go of this structure and culture. Even Peter
wonders if this structure is suitable if the company will grow in the future. SOLUTION: By
growing as a corporation in the future, the company should and will hire more and more employees,
and as the personnel increases in number, the organizational structure and the culture will change.
5) PROBLEM: The company can t afford to pay its employees the same wages that Molson and
Labatt are paying their employees, so McAuslan is depending on the brewery workers who are
getting laid off by these large corporations. SOLUTION: The company shouldn t count on Molson
and Labatt to fire their workers and hire them at a low wage. It should, find other workers
available who have experience in the brewing industry and give them various incentives to join the
company. And as the company grows financially, then it can match the wages paid by the large
companies.

how they choose to act in a situation. In Arthur Miller s The Crucible; the character of John

himself through acts that is considered courageous, such as when he refuses to contribute to the lie

only Abigail s sins, but also the fact that he was infatuated with Abigail. He knows that by doing
this he would dishonor his name, but he deems it as the only solution because people were falling
into Abigail s manipulation., John Proctor also fights for everyone not just his wife. John Proctor
continues his attempt to voice out the truth even though his wife was exempted from being

Those areas may involve warehousing, transportation, material handling, distribution, packaging

The Importance Of Antibiotic Resistance
Introduction
Antibiotic resistance is one of the greatest threats to global health, food security and development
today, it occurs naturally, but the pace of its process speeds up its abuse when given to humans
and animals and it can harm anyone regardless of age and country of residence (Laxminarayan, et
al.2013). According to World Health Organization (WHO), there are 700,000 people death every
year because of antibiotic resistance (WHO,2016). A study by the Public Health Foundation in

2014; Pincock et al. 2012; Wilson et al. 2011). According to Huttner et al (2010), the use of
antibiotics has reduced, with some decreased in indication of resistance as a result of awareness
campaign. In Europe, for example, France had the highest rates of antibiotic consumption, between
2000 and 2007 an awareness campaign with the slogan Antibiotics are not automatic resulted in an
average 27 percent decrease in rates of antibiotic prescriptions across all 22 regions of France. The
greatest decreased was in children aged 6 to 15 years (Sabuncu et al. 2009). Moreover, the
relationship between the government and ministry of health and agriculture, especially, is very
essential to the development and implementation of antibiotic resistance policies by build political
commitment and cooperation for combating antibiotic resistance. They need to devote time, money
and resources to limit the expansion of this problem.
Furthermore, in terms of agriculture, in many parts of the world, food animals consume more
antibiotics than humans do, and with even less oversight. For instance, in 2010, China was
estimated to consume the most antibiotics in livestock, followed by the United States, Brazil,
Germany, and India. The pattern is similar for projected antibiotic consumption in livestock in

The Amazing Adventures Of Kavalier And Clay And Amazing...
As someone who lives in the United States of America, the Freedom Capital of the World, it can
be hard for me to completely understand the horrors one endures under a dictatorship.
Practically every aspect of one s life is tightly monitored and controlled 24/7. The paranoia of
being caught doing something you should not be doing starts to wear you down more and more
every day. And god forbid you break a law or a well known rule, because there is a very good
chance that the government already knows about it. Within the stories of Michael Chabon s The

The Value Chain Of Tesco
INTRODUCTION
Large business organisations constitute not only a single strategic business unit, but a culmination
of several business units. The business units which may number anywhere from 4 to as many as
20 or more cannot be considered as a single, separate and disparate entity. Rather the business units
are attached to each other like a string completing a full circle, where each complements the
predecessor and the successor. The breakdown of any one entity in the chain can have a telling
effect on the whole chain itself. Now depending on the type of sector chosen the units in the
business chain vary in number and complexity. For example unlike a software company the units
/ operational units in company which deals with products/goods are much larger in number. As
explained in the previous lines the units in operation are linked and performance of one affects the
performance of the other units linked to that unit. Valuechain management comes in this picture. ...

Capstone On Stakeholders
Stakeholders can be a person, groups or organizations that are affected by organization s interest,
concerns or actions. An example of stakeholders are the patients, employees, managers, physicians,
or clinical nurse leaders. When it comes to implementing a new change or proposal to make a better
change in an organization, challenges and trials are unavoidable. Therefore, stakeholders support
and engagement are very crucial and important for a successful change in the organization. My
capstone project is to implement the utilization of bedside reporting versus the traditional hand off
reporting. Safety and highest quality of care are the top priorities of changes in any organization
due to the high demands of patients care. Efforts to transform

Essay Frederick Douglass and Slavery
Frederick Douglass and Slavery Frederick Douglass the most successful abolitionist who changed
America s views of slavery through his writings and actions. Frederick Douglass had many
achievements throughout his life. His Life as a slave had a great impact on his writings. His great
oratory skills left the largest impact on Civil War time periodliterature. All in all he was the best
black speaker and writer ever. Douglass was born a slave in 1817, in Maryland. He educated
himself and became determined to escape the horror of slavery. He attempted to escape slavery
once, but failed. He later made a successful escape in 1838.

In reply, Douglass wrote Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave (1845),
which he revised in later years: in final form, it appeared in 1882 under the title Life and Times Of
Frederick Douglass. (Graves, 52 ) Frederick s oratory skills left the largest impact on Civil War time
period literature. Douglass s most significant autobiographical works include: Narrative Of The
Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave: My Bondage And My Freedom: and Life And
Times Of Frederick Douglass. These three books are about the same person, and share a similar
message, but are written by Frederick at different times of his life, looking at the past in different
ways.
In Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, Douglass used a simple, yet educated way to
show how he felt as a slave growing up in Maryland. He describes in the Narrative I have often
been so pinched with hunger as to dispute with old Nep, the dog, for the crumbs which fell from
the kitchen table. (Douglass, 34) Douglass s Narrative was known as being a brief, descriptive
(like his statement in the above lines), and easy to read piece of literature. It showed the
hardships of slavery as seen by a real slave. I remember thinking that God was angry with the
white people because of their slave holding wickedness, and therefore his judgments were abroad
in the land (Douglass, 89) Douglass became educated through his own means. Knowledge was truly

Anna Quindlen The Name Is Mine Analysis
Summary and respond to The Name is Mine
In the article The Name Is Mine (1998),Anna Quindlen tells the reason why she doesn t change
her name after getting married. She claims that she doesn t change her last name because this
name belongs to her and she is not part of her husband, not because of rational reasons. Initially,
she thought she made a good personal choice, but she didn t consider group relationships. For
example, when her child ask her why her name is different with her family, Quindlen feels that she
is not part of her family. She also realized that those women who changed their name are also
independent because they made their own choice. Now Quindlen feels that she is able to

It is a normal phenomenon that people will be affected by various reasons when they decide to
make a choice. Unfortunately, this situation looks like more common in females, especially in
young females. For example, some girls that graduated from high school want to choose math or
physics as their college major while their parent force them choose education or art as their
major, even as their job in future. At least half of girls would follow their parents decisions
because it is generally. One mother would follow her child s demanding; one wife would agree
her husband s points; one daughter would listen to parents. However, an individual should make
decisions for herself even it is a simple thing such as her name, what she will eat today or what
her job is. Like Quindlen said that women did their choices about themselves as individuals and
they do what they want to do is good decisions.(2016).This means that regardless of whether the
decision looks good or bad, they make decision for themselves, which would be a good decision.
To summarize, don t let others choose your life and choose something for you, to make decision for

To the Snake by Denise Leverto
In the poem #8220;To the Snake #8221; the author Denise Levertov use several writing techniques
to portray money and gambling. She uses syntax, sound imagery, color imagery, figurative
language, and symbolism to represent money and gambling. Symbolism is used cleverly throughout
the poem to depict a number of things that would take numerous readings to see. Throughout the
poem the sentences are structured so that every other sentence is indented, with exception to the
first two and the last four. In those sentences not indented the author chose to make every other
sentence shorter so that the ends were uneven. This syntax structure gives the reader the feeling of
something hard to catch or control. The author did this because money,... Show more content on

The last bit of symbolism comes in the last part of the poem where it says, #8220; #8230;as the
leaves moved and you faded into the pattern of grass and shadows, and I returned smiling and
haunted, to a dark morning. #8221; The leaves moving are symbolic of time passing. As the
seasons change the leaves always go through some kind of change which is why the leader is led
to believe that the leaves represent some portion of time, which could be great or small. The word
fading says to the reader that the money the speaker has gained in gambling is now all gone. The
idea that it faded into the pattern of grass and shadows makes the reader think that the speaker is
going to gamble again and start the cycle over. First lets look at the grass. Grass when cut grows
back every time, under normal conditions. This applied to the gambler means that each time the
money gets short the speaker is going to gamble again to get more money or make their cash
supply grow just like grass. The same principle applies with shadows. The sun comes up and the
shadows began to form. As the sun goes down the shadows leave. This constant growing and
decreasing cycle can once again be applied to the speaker either losing or all their money and then
regaining it by gambling. The part, which discusses how the speaker returns smiling and haunted,
refers to the speaker facing his/her friends. The speaker

The World s Best Quality Shipping Port
More than 2,000 years ago, the Western Han Dynasty in ancient China was prosperous and
people wanted to expand to the west side of the county. The king sent one of his diplomat along
with about 130 people to explore the west side of the country. They went as far as the middle east
and the road later on was named Silk Road, which represents that during that time, Chinese would
carry their silk and trade with other countries. This road was not only famous for its history but also
famous for its culture. It was the very first road that connected ancient China with other countries

Scarcity Riots Of England During The Period Of Spring 1801...
The collection of documents creates an image of scarcity riots happening across the South west
of England during the period of spring 1801. At same time England was facing economic
hardship because of constant high taxation as a result of the war with France. The country was in
the midst of crop shortages caused by the poor harvest in the previous year of 1799. The current
years were also being shaped by the ideas of Scottish moral philosopher Adam Smith s Wealth of
Nations which pushed ideas of free trade. These ideas were meant to cause marketcontention
resulting in market prices naturally decreasing, but due to the current economic situation of low
wages and shortages prices continued to be high. Which is why there was social unrest surrounding
the market place, with the last scarcity riotonly being 4 years prior. The south ranging from
Plymouth in Devon through Somerset into Bristol was especially hard hit, due to its low prices at
the start of the period. Following Adam Smith s theory many farmers were willing to venture
further to achieve higher prices in different markets. This meant the South was relying solely on its
own supplies, meaning great demand and little supply. It is this South dominated documentation
that helps paint a picture of the dynamics that developed between the market, mob and magistrate.
It shows the crowds action verse the magistrates reaction, and whether these varied from town to
town. These primary sources can also be used to challenge or

National Health Care Plan
The original goal of the National Health Care Plan is to make coverage more secure for those that
have insurance and extend affordable coverage to the uninsured. This should lead to improved
healthcare quality and patient safety. Also, emphasize primary and preventive care linked with
community prevention services. Further, it is designed to reduce the growth of health care costs
while promoting high value, effective care. Ensuring access to quality, culturally competent care,
including long term services and supports for vulnerable populations and improved health care and
population health through meaningful use health information technology.
On March 23, 2010 the Affordable care act was created to make health care more affordable and

Movement of the deltoid begins in the cerebrum of the brain, but more specifically: in the frontal
lobe, the premotor cortex is relaying instructions to the primary motor cortex. The primary motor
cortex contains the upper motor neurons whose axons will travel down the pyramids of the
medulla oblongata and synapse on lower motor neurons in the anterior gray horns of spinal cord
segments C5 C6. From there, the ventral rami of spinal nerves C5 C6 form the superior trunk of
the brachial plexus, which splits into two divisions. We will follow the posterior division that
supplies to extensor muscles. This posterior division then runs into the posterior cord from which
the axillary nerve is derived. The axillary nerve s motor end innervates the deltoid through its
neuromuscular junction.

The Island Of Doctor Moreau
Benjamin Rush once stated that freedom can exist only in the society of knowledge. Without
learning, men are incapable of knowing their rights (Rush and Runes N.p). Throughout time,
ethically controversial sciences, from vivisection to stem cell research, have embodied a negative
stereotype in the eyes of western societies, and have consequently withdrew the freedom that
allows scientists to make innovative discoveries. In H.G. Wells novel The Island of Doctor Moreau,
this perspective is portrayed through Edward Prendick, an upper class English gentleman with a
subtle passion for science. After being stranded on a remote pacific island isolated from
civilization, Prendick s perspective on Dr. Moreau s unethical and controversial studies begins to
transform over time. The idea that isolation from civilization can result in the freedom to explore
one s curiosities is portrayed through Prendick s initial unacceptance of Moreau s vivisection,
which, as time on the island elapses, reshapes to one of interest. In The Island of Doctor Moreau,
as Edward Prendick spends more time away from civilized society, his perspective regarding Dr.
Moreau s ethically controversial discipline, vivisection, begins to shift from a sense of repugnance
to one of enthusiasm. Through these perspectives, H.G. Wells argues that Prendick s isolation from
civilization is the principle force allowing him to freely embrace the unethical studies on the island
and explore his natural curiosity for science,

Cuprizone Lab Study
Differential effects of antipsychotics on the development of rat oligodendrocyte precursor cells
exposed to cuprizone
Abstract
Cuprizone (CPZ) is a copper chelating agent and has been shown to induce white matter damage
in mice and rats. The compromised white matter and oligodendrocytes (OLs) respond to some
antipsychotics in vivo. However, little is known about the effects of antipsychotics on cultured
OLs in the presence of CPZ. The aim of this study was to examine effects of some antipsychotics
on developing OLs in the presence of CPZ. Oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) were prepared
from rat embryos; OLs at different developing stages were labeled with specific antibodies; levels
of CNP and MBP proteins in mature OLs were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The CPZ fed mice showed poor motor coordination in a rota rod analysis [14] and a murine
motor test [22]. In the 3rd and 4th weeks after consuming CPZ containing diet, mice exhibited an
increase in CNS activity. Moreover, mice displayed prepulse inhibition deficits during the 2nd
and 3rd weeks of CPZ exposure period and showed less social interaction after CPZ exposure for
4 6 weeks [25, 44]. The CPZ fed mice also showed spatial working memory impairment [25, 39, 44].
CPZ induced demyelination and behavioral changes were also seen in rats [16, 18, 34]. These
previous studies reminded us of an emerging hypothesis that oligodendroglial dysfunction and even
death, with subsequent abnormalities in myelin maintenance and repair, contribute to the
schizophrenic syndrome [10].
In efforts to test the OL deficit hypothesis of schizophrenia, we examined the effects of some
existing antipsychotic drugs on the CPZ induced white matter damage and behavioral changes in
C57BL/6 mice. We found that the CPZ induced demyelination and myelin breakdown as well as the
concurrent neuropathological changes in the mice were ameliorated by the antipsychotic quetiapine
[QUE; 41, 50]. But, the other antipsychotics (clozapine, CLZ and haloperidol, HAL) showed
different effects on the CPZ induced changes [42]. Also, these antipsychotic drugs differentially
affected the recovery of CPZ induced changes after removal of

Essay On Bleachers By John Grisham
For one to have true closure, one must forgive. In John Grisham s Bleachers, people from the
town of Messina are intertwined in a web of forgiveness with each other. Some characters are
asking for forgiveness and others are wondering whether to or to not forgive. One may ask how a
football player could forgive his coach for hitting him and breaking his nose or how a woman
could forgive the man that broke her heart. Another may ask how a mother and father could ever
forgive the man who caused the death of their son. It comes down to one thing. When one has the
strength and courage to accept what has happened and forgive, there can be closure.

CHAPTER ONE

Education is so important in any given society. For this reason, it forms a major part of any
government s plans. The plans that any government wishes to implement as regards their education
system is determined by existing policies. Factors which influence formulation of policies form the
subject of this discussion.

Therefore, in the 1950s and 1960s, demand and plans for investment in formal education by African
countries increased. Education was regarded to be a principal weapon in achieving economic
growth. To this end rapid quantitative expansion of the education system became the order of the
day in newly independent African countries.
Man power Shortages
After attaining independence, African countries were confronted with shortage of manpower in
various sectors of the economy. As a result of this scenario, they experienced economic stagnation.
Man power shortages were heavily felt in technical and managerial fields. Thus, education policies
in most African countries were directed towards resolving the man power shortages experienced.
This situation was evident from what obtained in Kenya. As Eshiwani (1993:26), observes at
independence in 1963, Kenya found herself with a high shortage of skilled manpower to run the
economy. In order to solve this problem, a commission was appointed to advise the government on
the formulation and interpretation of national educational policies. Therefore, it can be stated that
man power planning in newly independent countries of Africa gave a direction to the formulation
of education policies. Consequently, the governments of newly independent countries of Africa saw
it paramount to expand the education systems of their countries in

This is through consideration of the object photographed; the method of lighting, technical
parameters and the representation that the photographer wishes to portray. The connotation is how
something is photographed, while the denotation is what is photographed. What is important in this
scenario is that the essence of the picture is manipulated by one or more of these external factors. It
may be argued that the art of photography itself is not organic, but merely the careful manipulation
of external elements, constructed by the artist. However, Barthes does not consider photography as
an analogue, a puerile denoted message, yet ironically that is how most people instinctively see.
Objects photographed (denoted) for non artistic pictures such as documentaries are perceived by the
viewer as portraying characteristics of the truth, rather than being used as stylistic mediums.
According to Barthes, in the case of traumatic images where tragic events are depicted, even those
that have long passed still have the ability to evoke emotion. In other words, cause the suspension
of the connotation process. Other pictures are subject to both processes, though the structure of
visual expression can be heard independent independently; comprehensive and exhaustive. Barthes
does not deny that the essence of the connotation is not in this case in the transmission, but is
related to other factors. There is no widely understood meaning of

Hypostatic Union Sociology
The hypostatic union described the integration between Jesus humanity and divinity in a single

The ontological aspect focuses on the Second Divine Person. Jesus assumed the human nature as his

The main hallmark of an autosomal recessive trait is that both men and women have an equal
chance in acquiring the trait. 2. What does consanguineous mean? Why is this concept
especially important when discussing recessive genetic disorders? Consanguineous means
people coming from the same heritage. This is especially important when discussing recessive
genetic disorders because it could affect the chances of someone occupying the disease. 3. What
is it about the inheritance pattern of factor viii deficiency seen in Greg and Olga s pedigree that
point toward it not being an autosomal recessive trait? The trends point to factor viii not being
autosomal recessive trait because clearly it seems to be affecting males significantly more than
females. This would mean that the trait does not affect the males and females equally which
takes away from the hallmark of an autosomal recessive trait where they have equal chances. Part
4: Sex Linked Inheritance: 1. What are the characteristics of X linked recessive inheritance? The
characteristics of and X linked chromosome are that they are never passed from a father to his
son, and that males get it more often than females. 2. Why does a son never inherit his father s
defective X chromosome? A son never inherits a defective X chromosome from their father because
they receive the X

Cities Will Be The Future Of Residential Housing
Introduction.
In an urbanising world, the way people fit into cities is of great importance.
High Density is said to be the future of residential housing, although not everyone agrees to this way
of thinking.
High Density is viewed as a key strategy to manage urban growth and is becoming an increasing
feature of city plans; our very own city is an example of this.
High Density housing is defined as housing with a higher population density than the average,
typically blocks of flats and tower blocks. Density is measured in two different perspectives;
physical density related to the density of people in built density, referring to a numeric or
quantitative measure. The other is through perceived density, which is in relation to the
environment and to other participants.
In 2011, 20.7% of dwellings in Sydney were classified as high density. Australian cities are facing a
number of challenges, including a significant growth in population, growing housing affordability
crisis, a greater concern for environmental issues, transport and urban infrastructure.
It is estimated that in the near future, 2 out of 2 people will live in cities. This is due to main
reason that people naturally tend to concentrate in areas with desirable conditions. What does the
cities offer as to why it is stated that the cities will be our future .
Our cities offer close proximity to services, entertainment and employment. Building high density
housing within reach of the main sectors of the hub

Everest Incident Of 1996
May, 1996. Everest. People died, others were abandoned, and those who lived had to suffer with
haunting memories of the mountain. It was nothing short of a catastrophe. It was caused by a
multitude of things, but mostly incompetence, inadequate preparation, unenforced guidelines, and
unfavorable circumstances. Everything becomes a deciding factor when death is involved, and
especially during this perilous expedition.
There are many things that could have been put into play to prevent this disaster. A very important
one is better preparation for climbing. Simple things, like fixing ropes or getting more radios could
have helped immensely, and prevented many deaths. For example, we are shown one possible
effect of something basic being ignored ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The weather, specifically, was awful and intense, so much so that you couldn t differentiate
anyone who didn t introduce themselves. It took a toll on everyone, being such an extreme
blizzard at such an unexpected time. Along with this, everyone was so drained and impaired, and
weren t able to help. This caused a few people to die, as they were unrightfully abandoned; one
example being Beck Weathers. He was left to perish on the mountain about three times, though he
did survive. He suffered a lot, and still does, and due to his unfortunate time on Everest has lost his
hand and a few fingers. The summaries do not lie, when they mention Into Thin Air as being a
story of bad luck . Bad luck was, in my opinion, the greatest catalyst for this tragic journey.
Into Thin Air was very interesting and intriguing for me, most of the way through. I watched a
scene play out, a disastrous scene, and was astounded by the fact that all of it was real. I saw
how all of these perils and dangers played a role in creating this catastrophe, and I realized how
difficult it actually is to get to the top of Everest and survive the descent. It isn t just a simple
climb, nor a trek made easy with technology; an expedition is a life deciding experience, and as it
occurred in this situation small, fixable mistakes, and bad luck, can turn a life long dream into a

How Does Charlie Brooker Use The Satire In Black Mirror
Black Mirror is a British television series created by Charlie Brooker about technology that is set
in the near future. Each episode is a stand alone science fiction drama. The show uses dark satire
in which technology creates a dystopia, eerily similar to what could happen in reality. The
common theme in a few of the episodes is how the government influences and controls the people.
Season two, episode two: White Bear. It begins with a woman, named Victoria, who wakes up
with no memory, in a house, alone. She leaves to get help, but finds that all the other people are
hiding in their houses, but when they see her, they come out to silently follow and record her on
their phones. Then a group of people in masks, called the hunters, try to kill... Show more content

People can casually project almost anything they want with minimal consequences. But in this
episode, there were actual consequences. But more people voted after the deaths were linked to
the hashtag. And it came back around at the end. The government had control by spying on the
people with the drones, and that was the reason the technology was compromised. This episode
is successful because it links government spying with social media. It shows how all technology
is interconnected and that there are many outcomes that may lead to unintended consequences.
Black Mirror has been largely successful since it has been out on Netflix. Before, it only aired in
the UK, and had a small following. It is heavily influenced by The Twilight Zone, with self
contained stories that are both science fiction set in a different time, but offer social commentary
to today s problems. Because it hits so close to home, Black Mirror has become very popular,
even years after it first came out. Since every episode is a stand alone, the creators can cover a
wider range of topics without having to stick to the same plot, just the common theme of
technology. So there is an episode for

Metaphor As A Metaphor
Phrases like in a hurry , a close relationship , Juliet is the sun and many others are commonly used
and easily understood although they are not literal. Such phrases are metaphoric in feature. What is
metaphor then? Metaphor is defined in terms of substituting one word for another with an
apparently different meaning (Ritchie, 2013). Although metaphor was once considered as a
stylistic issue, a rhetoric device, a poetic reference or decorative speech, now it has been extended
to linguisticsand cognitive psychology, and has been an issue in language, thought, cognition and
communication. Burke (1945) regards metaphor as a device for seeing something in terms of
something else. This simple definition of metaphor says that metaphor has two distinct ideas which
lie in the core of metaphor. In order to understand one better, the other idea is used. Littlemore and
Low (2006a) state that metaphor involves one entity in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For them metaphor is a matter of thought rather than language. Lakoff and Johnson (1980)
extended the definition of metaphor further and introduced Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT).
They claim that concepts are metaphorically structured, so metaphors play a significant role in
organizing and functioning ideas in human conceptual system. They define metaphor not only as
thinking about something in terms of something else, but also experiencing something as
something else. Since human activities and experiences are metaphorical, we talk about things in
the way that we perceive them. Human conceptual system is structured by metaphors, in other
words, it is metaphoric in nature. This is grounded in experience and culture. Some metaphors are
so deeply rooted in human thought that they are metaphors we live by or they are conceptual in
nature (Lakoff and

Definition Essay On Integrity
The word integrity seems to float around me, its very existence locked in my mind. The word
integrity will never be forgotten, never be lost, but the meaning behind the word integrity has
yet to be discovered. Oprah Winfrey once said Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing
that nobody s going to know whether you did it or not. Integrity is something I believe in and
value greatly. To me integrity is doing the right thing even when no one else is watching. Most
people always look for an easy choice, but it s not about the easy choice it s about the right
choice. Ever since I was little girl I have always believed that you only get what you work for,
and fairness and equality play a big role in integrity. I d always believed in doing the right thing
even if it doesn t benefit me in the end. Sometimes it s hard to show integrity. In fact ,95% of
24,000 high school students have admitted in some form of cheating. I d always hoped that
maybe one day these numbers would decrease. On a warm, sunny Texas afternoon I walked
through the Southlake strip mall. In the air a pungent odor danced around me. My hand went
immediately to my nose, to block out the smell. The sun s heat came glaring down at me as I
shielded my hands in front of my face to keep the ray of light from hurting my sensitive eyes. The
clouds seemed to dance across the vibrant blue sky. The pounding of my feet echoed across the...

Zoe Foils
In the book After the Ending, Lindsey Pogue and Lindsey Fairleigh the two main characters,
Danielle and Zoe, were foils of each other. Zoe s brother, Jason, perfectly summarized the two
when he described Zoe as serious and pessimistic and Danielle as one who sees the glass half
full. Their appearances also balance each other out, as Jason pictured Danielle as vivacious, with
bright red curls, whereas Zoe is dark, but with eyes as bright as the ocean. When Jason described
the two girls, he illustrated that even though both their looks and personalities are completely
opposite, these yin and yang qualities are what bonded them together and created their mile deep
friendship. In addition, those different attributes and how they are foils

Html Coding And The World Wide Web
HTML Coding
HTML coding is used broadly on the world wide web. Without coding on the internet, users the

makes web browsing possible; the code writing system was invented by a man named Tim
Berners Lee (the same man who gives these codes an address on the internet) , a man who has
been widely awarded and praised for his work on the internet. Initially, HTML coding is what
makes web browsing on any web browser possible. Basically what web browsers do is that they
read certain codes or code languages. HTML or Hypertext Markup Language is one of the coding
languages that web browsers read. The web browsers read and translate these codes, displaying
and producing what we see on our computer monitors or any internet capable device. Hypertext
Markup Language was invented by a man by the name of Tim Berners Lee, he made this so he
could use his coding language and have it be displayed on the World Wide Web
. These coding
languages were made to be used on the World Wide Web to provide data and information to

information together. Although the word wide web had already been invented Sir Tim had to find
a way to connect this information all together. When Sir Tim sent in Information Management: A

Hotel California Analysis Essay
The Eagles Hotel California Full Analysis
Musically, Hotel California can be said to be the Eagles greatest accomplishment in their career. It
can also be thought of as the album that gave a complete concept of the Eagles. Each member of
the band is contributing to the music and is playing a mixture of instruments. With this range usage
of the members, the album has a complete cohesive feel. During this time of the Eagles career, they
had five members; Don Henley, Don Felder, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Randy Meisner

The Most Comprehensive Global Route Network
The combined United Continental Holdings competes on the basis of having what it terms the most
comprehensive global route network , modern planes, and an industry leading loyalty program
(UnitedContinentalHoldings.com, 2012). The merger between two struggling airlines was
announced in 2010, and the United brand is going to be the one that is most prominent going
forward. There have recently been some minor implementation problems in unwinding the
Continental name (Martin, 2012).
While it is difficult, to some extent, to evaluate the success of a merger that is only just now
entering its final implementation phases, it is known that the objective of that merger was to use
the larger route network to attract more business, and that the combined airline would also extract
cost savings as the result of increased operational efficiency. The airline had struggled in 2009,
with its sales declining, but it recovered in 2010 and 2011. Sales last year were $33.678 billion,
up from $21.068 billion the year before. In the past two years, the company has turned a profit,
going from $253 million in net income in FY2010 to $840 million in net income in FY2011. Some
of this improvement may stem from the impact of the merger. However, the airline industry is
highly cyclical, and the past two years have represented economic improvement. Likewise, the
losses the company faced in FY2008 and FY2009 were as much the result of the economic
downturn as they were internal business factors.

The Commander s Chief Of The Chilean Army
KEY LEADERS
2.1Chile
2.1.1General Manuel Baquedano Gonzalez
The Commander in Chief of the Chilean Army, Gen. Erasmo Escala, resigned his commission due
to constant arguments with War Minister Rafael Sotomayor. The latter appointed General Manuel
Baquedano Gonzalez, a Peru Bolivian Confederacy war veteran, who had the sympathies and
respect of the soldiers as his successor.
Baquedano was only 15 years old and still at school when the War against the Peru Bolivian
Confederacy began, but he left his studies to join the Army. He participated in the decisive Battle of
Yungay in 1839. His actions motivated his promotion to Lieutenanton the field at the age of 16.

This maneuver is regarded as the first amphibious disembarkation in history.
Baquedano s military strategy in this war consisted mainly in frontal attack to break the often over
extended enemy lines.
After the Battle of Tacna, his tactics were publically criticized: he chose to frontally attack with 16
battalions and 3 cavalry regiments, an allied force of nearly 10.000 infantry men equipped with
thirty one cannons and machine guns. The Battle was a victory for Chile, but with overwhelming
losses that could have been avoided if he listened to Minister Vergara s suggestion of choosing an
envelopment maneuver.
He was a man of stubborn and obstinate nature; he tolerated no argument once he had taken a
decision. However, he personally directed battles resulting in decisive victories, and he remained
treated as a hero until he died at the age of 74.
2.1.2Colonel Pedro Lagos
Only an outstanding military mind could be in charge of this assault, so the Commander in Chief
himself gave Colonel Pedro Lagos the responsibility for the operation. Lagos had begun his
training in the Military Academy. During his first years, he proved to be a hard worker and a very
good student. One of his superiors proposed that he would be promoted to second lieutenant,
leading to the start of his military career in November 1850.
Defending national authority, he took part in the revolutions of 1851 and 1859. He also
participated in the campaigns

  • 2. Battle Of Trenton Quote Analysis Giant waves crash around you, threatening to overturn your boat. The frigid air nips at your exposed skin. Shouts from army members fill your ears, barking out orders. But you won t listen to those orders. The only orders you will listen to and act on come from the leader of this army because without him, this whole plan would not even have the slightest chance of working. The year was 1776. Christmas Eve. The crossing of the Delaware to the Battle of Trenton was taking place. The Continental Armywould not have been able to win this battle had it not been for George Washington, the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. His effective leadership has been so crucial to the creation of this country and without it, we would probably be somewhere... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Washington wasn t always such a great leader. During the French and Indian War, Washington made a lot of mistakes such as his horrible embarrassment in result of the assassination of French Diplomat Jumonville. When the musket smoke cleared, Ensign Joseph Coulon de Jumonville lay wounded, trying to explain to Washington that he was on a diplomatic mission. Before surrender was declared, Tanaghrisson struck the ambassador dead with a tomahawk to the head. Anticipating French retaliation, the young Virginian withdrew a few miles to a large meadow, where he hastily built a small, crude stockade and named it Fort Necessity. Here, Washington suffered his first and most humiliating defeat by French reinforcements on July 3, 1754. Washington signed the surrender document, which was written in French, and unknowingly accepted responsibility for the ambassador s death. The French published the document in major European capitals. (Clash of Empires) (Q. Should I explain more about the quote before I go into the Battle of Trenton?) Even though Washington started out as not a very good leader, the Battle of Trenton during the American Revolution shows how Washington was able to learn from the Battle of Great Meadows and use his former mistakes to be victorious. This helped him to become a much better leader. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Summer Camp Research Paper We need to return them better than they were given to us . It was drilled into our heads from day one of training, until the Friday of the final week. This was not a statement concerning a materialistic item, but something of infinitely greater value: the lives of children. You would not expect such a heavy responsibility from your employment at a summer camp. Everyday, we embarked on adventures that changed their perspectives on the world around them, just as the summer sunshine was changing the tone of their skin. It was hard to believe how much the kids had developed over the course of the summer, and it was even harder to comprehend how my interaction with their childhoods fostered such a departure from mine. Preparing for this job was not easy: a twenty hour training period was to be completed weeks before the beginning of camp. Delivered to us trainees from the voices of first hand witnesses, we were exposed to the horrors of child abuse and the gravity of our roles in preventing it. Child abuse did not happen mostly in dark alley ways, but in places that are filled with kids and nearby witnesses, which fit the description of the YMCA summer camps perfectly. Long... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everyday, when I saw familiar faces or greeted new little ones into my group, I was determined to protect those children, and give them the summer camp experience they so deserved; unfortunately, balancing the two was about as easy as taming a cat. Fun for the kids was running off to places that were too far from my sight, too close to danger. Time and time again, I found myself reeling them in and keeping them stationed in place, away from the opportunities to explore and enjoy the campground. My full control of the situation became a necessity, but this was not the way that the kids would grow. There would always be the shadow of danger when in charge of a large group of children, but it was up to me to be brave enough to let freedom run, even if it was out of my comfort ... • 4. The Reality Of The Beholder From The Ancient Dialogues... What is Reality? I plan on discussing each section of this essay; however, they do coincide with each other in the topic. I will try to explain my reasoning on how they would question relates to one another. First, what is the difference between appearance and reality? What is the reality of being in a new place, instead of being in a society of other people around you? Does one person think they can another s perceptionof their world? Does everything lead to good, and what is good in the eye of the beholder from the ancient dialogues from Plato and Socrates? Lets starts from the beginning, by distinguishing the difference between reality and appearances. Is it something that is done by everyone on a daily basis? Whether it is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way of thinking of reality and appearance is the theory of idealism. Idealism is only things that really exist are our minds and their ideas. An Irish Bishop named George Berkeley view of idealism is ...though it were possible that solid, figured, moveable substances may exist without the mind... yet how [could we] know this? Either we must know it by sense or by reason. (Rachels Rachels, 2012, p. 128). Berkeley also goes to mention that our senses comes our knowledge of sensations and ideas that come from the mind, and our reason is for us to believe in the existence of physical objects that is a necessary connection between the physical world and our ideas. Another approach is direct versus indirect realism, which deals with the perception of our reality or mental state. Direct idealism deals with common sense and with the facts of things; however, indirect idealism is the opposite of which it holds the idea of perception of something with our idea of an object that we are aware of. Now, how is reflecting with Plato s story of the Allegory of the Cave, and reality and appearance the same? In the story of the Allegory of the Cave, goes with the following understanding of the Cave. The cave is a world where prisoners live chained to the ground, and the captors cast shadows on the wall and these shadows construct reality for the prisoners. One of the prisoners is freed by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is optimal, because if it gets a person to stop, that not means they are interested, but that they are also taking the time to read the material provided. In the same sense, it will also create desire, as the slogan is short enough to stay in a person s head, and simple location reminders will help to spark desire. For example, after seeing the slogan, if the person sees a sign for Prince Edward Island, farms, red sand, etc they will think of the slogan, creating a form situational desire. • 6. Journaling Is A Common Practice An old adage says that thoughts disentangle themselves when passed through the lips and across the fingertips (Whitney 260). Thoughts clutter up our minds and need a release; for some, this is journaling. Journaling can be defined as a practice in which one writes out a variety of things. It isn t confined to one specific thing. It can range from daily events and struggles, to poetry, to Bible verses. They hold a purpose in some time and place, though some may prefer one over another. Journaling has been noted throughout the ages as being beneficial in many lives and providing a source of hope for many, even in the most difficult times, though some others may find it harmful. Journaling does not necessarily have a specific... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us (ESV, Ps. 62.6 8). The Psalms were like David s personal journal. It documents his feelings, mainly towards God, and gives a commentary of the thoughts running through his mind. It clearly shows David questioning God and going through rough patches, but it also shows moments of great delight and times of significant triumph in his life. Not only do Biblical figures highlight the use of journaling, but many other notable people and people groups note journaling as a common practice in their lives. Saint Augustine, one of the most revered figures in the church for the way he shaped the way we view Christianity today, was even known to have kept a journal in the form of one of his most famous books, Confessions (Whitney 251). For 68 years Queen Victoria was known to have kept a daily journal (Conhaim). Also, the Puritans, the group of people the set out to reform the English church, kept journals themselves. They were considered highly religious and Donald Whitney notes this by saying, The fact that many Puritans kept diaries of this kind helps to explain their pursuit of social virtue: diaries were the reckoning books in which they checked the assets and liabilities of their souls in faith. When they opened these books, they set down lapses of morality with appropriate expressions of faith (qtd. in Whitney 253 254). All of these people kept a journal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. My Experience At The Coast Guard One of my first experiences in the Coast Guard was a question that went out to the whole company, Why do you want to be in the Coast Guard? Naturally my response was that I wanted to help people. Little did I know at the time, that as I progressed through my career, so too would the focus of my desire to help shift to the people placed under my charge. Starting out I didn t place much thought into leadership. Luckily, I have had the privilege to serve with several people that have demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout my career. Jeff Dorwart, John Lorentz, Marvin Wells, etc., the list goes on. All of whom have imparted some of their leadership wisdom upon me, either through demonstration or conversation. Leadership to me is the ability to influence others in the pursuit of a shared vision or goal, regardless of whether it is yours or one you yourself have been influenced to follow. 2.For some of my leadership mentors, they modeled the way by their actions and personal interactions. Marvin Wells always maintained an outstanding uniform. He usually had a smile on his face and presented himself as a very approachable individual. In fact, even when I was getting corrected , it didn t feel like an ass chewing, rather a course correction that I ended up being harder on myself than what he was. Jeff Dorwart and John Lorentz were both big picture thinkers. They would shamelessly share the big picture, direction and desired end result with all. This created buy in and ... Chilean music consists of folk music, Tonada, and Cueca. Chilean folk music is like regular folk music but with a twist such as some traditional Chilean instruments. Tonada is a type of genre of music that was brought by the Spaniards. Unlike the Cueca, the Tonada is different because it is a type of music that is not accompanied by dance. Finally the Cueca, the national dance of Chile is rooted in Spanish, African, Peruvian, and the indigenous Chilean origins. In total, most of all the Chilean music genres and dances are rooted from many of the same cultures especially the Spanish. • 9. Book Report On The Movie Valentine THEY rolled. Valentine watched the SUV flip twice, slamming into a shipping container and careening off into a brutal spin on its roof. He laughed, high and harsh. Then he limped after them, following the trail of broken glass and splinters of plastic and metal. Valentine led with the pistol he d taken from one of the sailors, gripped in both hands. He ignored the pain in his right palm where he d sliced it open as the cheap steak knife had broken off in the sailor s neck. He d had worse. Finish the job. The SUV had stopped moving now, oily smoke rising into the night like winter fog. A figure struggled out on the far side, the door screaming as it popped open. Valentine snapped off a quick shot, but it went wide. The figure stumbled away, towards the cover of a hulking mass of shipping containers. Even in the shadows, Valentine saw that they were big. Moving faster than he expected. Hirsch. Valentine went into a crouch, skirting around the edge of the SUV wreck. His ankle burned dully where he d jumped from the trawler. His palm was slick with blood. The burned tattoos along his back and arms itched and stung. But Hirsch he wasn t worried about. Hirsch wasn t the problem. Gunfire crackled in the darkness. Valentine flinched, but the fusillade was nowhere near him. Someone guessing. Laying down blind cover fire. He hugged the shadows on the edge of the containers, working his away around the SUV. Donald Trump Racism If you had told me in 2002 that 15 years later Donald Trump would be president, Kid Rock would be running for Senate, and Eminem would be a celebrity spokesperson for human/civil rights, I would have laughed you out of the room. This sounds more like content for an SNL skit than reality. But, here we are; Truth really is stranger than fiction. A few days ago, new political activist and rapper Eminem, let out some rage towards Donald Trump in a 4.5 minute freestyle rap called The Storm on the BET Hip Hop Awards. If you are familiar with Eminem, it shouldn t surprise you that there is fair amount of vulgarity and graphic imagery in the video. So, proceed with caution to the link above. While he covers quite of bit of ground in his video, for the sake of this article I want to focus on just one topic: racism. Despite wild popularity and support from fans and trump haters, I think this video does more harm than good towards resolving the problems of racism in our country. In some of the most scathing lines, Eminem blasts President Trump as a racist 94 year old grandpa and draws a line in the sand. In almost battle like terms, he demands his fans to decide who you like more Eminem or President Trump. He even addresses the undecided, if you can t decide who you like more and you re split on who you should stand beside, I ll do it for it for you with this. He then makes an obscene gesture towards the camera. This was unfair to Trump, his supports, and even Eminem s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Yellow Ribbon By Pete Hamill Memories can last a life time, so we tend to only remember the extraordinary ones. Extraordinary like the essay The Yellow Ribbon by Pete Hamill, in which he talks about how a person named Vingo, was riding on a, bus recently released from jail, to this oak tree explaining to some passengers that he had told his wife to leave him if she wanted, since he went to jail or to go to this oak tree and tie a yellow ribbon around it to see if she wants him to stick around and he will go and check it out. In the end, he saw hundreds of ribbons tied on to the tree. Not only is this an amazing story, but also very unforgettable one as well, because he finds out that after four years in jail his wife has enough lovefor him to go to this tree and tie hundreds of ribbons just to show the type of love the women had for Vingo. I have to say that, I believe this story is truly unforgettable, but I also got a story that is very extraordinary, like the time that I got my very first car. She uses syntax, sound imagery, color imagery, figurative language, and symbolism to represent money and gambling. Symbolism is used cleverly throughout the poem to depict a number of things that would take numerous readings to see. Throughout the poem the sentences are structured so that every other sentence is indented, with exception to the first two and the last four. In those sentences not indented the author chose to make every other sentence shorter so that the ends were uneven. The last bit of symbolism comes in the last part of the poem where it says, #8220; #8230;as the leaves moved and you faded into the pattern of grass and shadows, and I returned smiling and haunted, to a dark morning. #8221; The leaves moving are symbolic of time passing. As the seasons change the leaves always go through some kind of change which is why the leader is led to believe that the leaves represent some portion of time, which could be great or small. The word fading says to the reader that the money the speaker has gained in gambling is now all gone. The idea that it faded into the pattern of grass and shadows makes the reader think that the speaker is going to gamble again and start the cycle over. First lets look at the grass. Grass when cut grows back every time, under normal conditions. This applied to the gambler means that each time the money gets short the speaker is going to gamble again to get more money or make their cash supply grow just like grass. The same principle applies with shadows. The sun comes up and the shadows began to form. As the sun goes down the shadows leave. This constant growing and decreasing cycle can once again be applied to the speaker either losing or all their money and then regaining it by gambling. The part, which discusses how the speaker returns smiling and haunted, refers to the speaker facing his/her friends. The speaker ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The collection of documents creates an image of scarcity riots happening across the South west of England during the period of spring 1801. At same time England was facing economic hardship because of constant high taxation as a result of the war with France. The country was in the midst of crop shortages caused by the poor harvest in the previous year of 1799. The current years were also being shaped by the ideas of Scottish moral philosopher Adam Smith s Wealth of Nations which pushed ideas of free trade. These ideas were meant to cause marketcontention resulting in market prices naturally decreasing, but due to the current economic situation of low wages and shortages prices continued to be high. Which is why there was social unrest surrounding the market place, with the last scarcity riotonly being 4 years prior. The south ranging from Plymouth in Devon through Somerset into Bristol was especially hard hit, due to its low prices at the start of the period. Following Adam Smith s theory many farmers were willing to venture further to achieve higher prices in different markets. This meant the South was relying solely on its own supplies, meaning great demand and little supply. • 29. The Island Of Doctor Moreau Benjamin Rush once stated that freedom can exist only in the society of knowledge. Without learning, men are incapable of knowing their rights (Rush and Runes N.p). Throughout time, ethically controversial sciences, from vivisection to stem cell research, have embodied a negative stereotype in the eyes of western societies, and have consequently withdrew the freedom that allows scientists to make innovative discoveries. In H.G. Wells novel The Island of Doctor Moreau, this perspective is portrayed through Edward Prendick, an upper class English gentleman with a subtle passion for science. After being stranded on a remote pacific island isolated from civilization, Prendick s perspective on Dr. Moreau s unethical and controversial studies begins to transform over time. The idea that isolation from civilization can result in the freedom to explore one s curiosities is portrayed through Prendick s initial unacceptance of Moreau s vivisection, which, as time on the island elapses, reshapes to one of interest. In The Island of Doctor Moreau, as Edward Prendick spends more time away from civilized society, his perspective regarding Dr. Moreau s ethically controversial discipline, vivisection, begins to shift from a sense of repugnance to one of enthusiasm. Through these perspectives, H.G. Wells argues that Prendick s isolation from civilization is the principle force allowing him to freely embrace the unethical studies on the island and explore his natural curiosity for science, ... Another may ask how a mother and father could ever forgive the man who caused the death of their son. It comes down to one thing. That all ended on August 21st, 1992 when Coach Eddie Rake made the football players run the unforgettable bleachers . Scotty was running the bleachers for a grueling third time and died of heatstroke right there in the stands. Rake was held responsible with the death and the Reardons were able to fire him due to their wealth and connections. The death affected Rake more than the people of Messina could fathom as expressed in his final letter read at the funeral, Holding him in my arms as he passed away is something I have wept over every day since (Grisham 204). All he wanted was to be forgiven by the Reardons. Eventually, the Reardons did forgive him as this was also said in Rake s letter, I have expressed these feelings to his parents, and, in time, I think they have forgiven me. I cling to their forgiveness and take it to my death (Grisham 204). Education was regarded to be a principal weapon in achieving economic growth. To this end rapid quantitative expansion of the education system became the order of the day in newly independent African countries. Man power Shortages After attaining independence, African countries were confronted with shortage of manpower in various sectors of the economy. As a result of this scenario, they experienced economic stagnation. Man power shortages were heavily felt in technical and managerial fields. Thus, education policies in most African countries were directed towards resolving the man power shortages experienced. This situation was evident from what obtained in Kenya. As Eshiwani (1993:26), observes at independence in 1963, Kenya found herself with a high shortage of skilled manpower to run the economy. In order to solve this problem, a commission was appointed to advise the government on the formulation and interpretation of national educational policies. This is through consideration of the object photographed; the method of lighting, technical parameters and the representation that the photographer wishes to portray. The connotation is how something is photographed, while the denotation is what is photographed. What is important in this scenario is that the essence of the picture is manipulated by one or more of these external factors. It may be argued that the art of photography itself is not organic, but merely the careful manipulation of external elements, constructed by the artist. However, Barthes does not consider photography as an analogue, a puerile denoted message, yet ironically that is how most people instinctively see. Objects photographed (denoted) for non artistic pictures such as documentaries are perceived by the viewer as portraying characteristics of the truth, rather than being used as stylistic mediums. According to Barthes, in the case of traumatic images where tragic events are depicted, even those that have long passed still have the ability to evoke emotion. High Density is said to be the future of residential housing, although not everyone agrees to this way of thinking. High Density is viewed as a key strategy to manage urban growth and is becoming an increasing feature of city plans; our very own city is an example of this. High Density housing is defined as housing with a higher population density than the average, typically blocks of flats and tower blocks. Density is measured in two different perspectives; physical density related to the density of people in built density, referring to a numeric or quantitative measure. The other is through perceived density, which is in relation to the environment and to other participants. In 2011, 20.7% of dwellings in Sydney were classified as high density. Australian cities are facing a number of challenges, including a significant growth in population, growing housing affordability crisis, a greater concern for environmental issues, transport and urban infrastructure. It is estimated that in the near future, 2 out of 2 people will live in cities. This is due to main reason that people naturally tend to concentrate in areas with desirable conditions. The merger between two struggling airlines was announced in 2010, and the United brand is going to be the one that is most prominent going forward. There have recently been some minor implementation problems in unwinding the Continental name (Martin, 2012). While it is difficult, to some extent, to evaluate the success of a merger that is only just now entering its final implementation phases, it is known that the objective of that merger was to use the larger route network to attract more business, and that the combined airline would also extract cost savings as the result of increased operational efficiency.
