Abstract: Face recognition system presents a challenging problem in the field of image
processing and computer vision, and as such has received a great deal of attention over the last
few years because of its many applications in various domains. Many researches in face
recognition have been dealing with the challenge of the great variability in head pose, lighting

self report measures may have problem when applied to two different groups of people using
different languages. For this reason, cross cultural psychologists suggested to use indirect
measures (Biernat, Manis, Nelson, 1991). In this study, indirect self efficacy measures will be used
by comparing subject s actual scores to their predicted scores on a cognitive ability task.
Instrument; Cognitive Ability Task The short form of the Advanced Progressive Matrices (APM;
Raven, Raven, Court, 1991) developed by Bors and Stokes (1998) was used to test cognitive
ability. As Bors and Stokes (1998) reviewed, APM is one of the best measures of general
intelligence and cognitive ability, and is considered a culture free test because it requires minimal
